It was too cold to go for a swim. Can’t help the weather.

Reviewed Jan 15, 2026Julian was welcoming and friendly. Respected privacy and allowed us to use the pool. The Poripori River swim holes were also close for a walk and swim if you prefer a natural environment.
Proximity to highway which was busy and noisy throughout the day.

Plenty of space for us to be together but to also have our own separate spaces when needing time to ourselves and to recharge. The home was well equipped with everything we needed and even with what we didn’t know we needed. The pool was fantastic and one of the main reasons we chose this accommodation but when we arrived, the whole property was exactly what we wanted and the pool was the cherry on top! Our family occupied both the 3 bedroom dwelling and the cottage which was perfect! Julian and Frances were amazing hosts!

Occasionally the nearby road noise was a little intrusive.

Reviewed Mar 3, 2024Very quiet rural setting attached to the main Homestead. BBQ made available which was good. Still close to Tauranga which was an easy uber ride away.
The girls would have liked mirrors in the bedrooms. I am not a cat or dog person so a barking dog and a skinny cat that took over our place, was a bit discomforting.

Had some issues with the TV - Julian replaced without issue, but I would have liked just standard TV channels/Sky. Wifi wasn't very good. The bathroom door hits the cabinet if not careful and the shower head could do with an update.

A clothes dryer would have been great as the weather was very wet and we struggled to dry our washing. There was nothing we didn’t like.

Lack of privacy, considering the check-in was so late it felt inappropriate to have the hosts mowing lawns, cleaning the pool etc when we were trying to enjoy the property. The traffic from the main highway was terrible. It was very loud and woke us all up very early.

We did a night time kayaking trip to see glow worms (wonderful) and Frances was very helpful it getting it set up for us (thanks!). We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

I would have liked 2 comfy chairs instead of the couch, but that is probably due to my age. Also the shower head was in need of repair. It fell apart the first time we used it, but handyman husband made it work again.

But a bit too close to the state highway for my liking - you can see the road from kitchen window. Constant traffic noise all day and night which took away from the lovely rural surroundings in the other direction.
