Whilst totally out of the owner's control, was a shame that pier redevelopment resulted in our view being not as good as it usually is.

Wifi barely worked. Water was either super hot or freezing. No in between. No water pressure. Cable tv kept coming in and out. Construction right in front of the apartment, so couldn’t see the water or the view.

The host is responsive, helpful and caring. Great pricing. It's in a central location, but is still incredibly peaceful. We hope to be returning guests in the future.

Internet was terrible. Kept dropping out and only could get it right near the box. Shower was absolutely tiny. And I kept bumping my arms which hurt. Water pressure awful and couldn’t wash my hair as thick hair.

Would have been nice to have fresh towels in the room for the stay for 2 nights (without having to ask) Bed could be upgraded was very bouncy everytime we turned over we woke the other up.

Parking is haphazrdly marked and is not in numerical order. Very confusing.

The stairs were quite inconvenient. When travelers are staying from overseas with large suitcases the stairs were quite difficult. Maybe the option should have been given for a downstairs room. I don't remember seeing this.

The apartment was very stylish but a few elements were more stylish than practical eg the mugs and teacups were gorgeous but tiny and the bowls were either too tiny or massive. But perhaps that's in keeping with the French theme! It all looked stunning though.

Reviewed Sep 7, 2025Lovely, quaint, little town with quite a few dinner choices. It was lovely to look out over the water and mountains. The apartment was nicely furnished and attractively decorated. Basic cooking implements and utensils provided.
1) Only one device could access WIFI at a time 2) it would help if booking..com would more clearly identify if laundry in unit or separate. 3) Door access code was not available until after I sent a reminder on morning

It was beautifully clean, extremely comfy (the bed and pillows were like sleeping on clouds), had everything we needed in the kitchen, and the view was amazing from both the lounge and main bedroom. I especially loved the wallpaper and bedside lamps in the bedroom. It was very central to the shops and restaurants/cafes. It's also a short stroll around the inlet to more shops, etc. The communication for our directions and check-in were clear and simple. Thanks, Jackie, for a wonderful stay at your apartment. We highly recommend Waterscape Apartments if you're visiting the beautiful town of Akaroa.

Reviewed May 5, 2025Very comfortable apartment. It had everything we needed, was spotlessly clean, and the view right across the waterfront is amazing. Akaroa has a lovely community feel, restaurants, supermarket and shops are within walking distance. Our suggestion is to arrive in daylight as the drive into Akaroa is beautiful. We had booked for only one night but had to stay for three due to a storm and flooded roads, our host Jackie was exceptionally kind to us during that time.
