Reviewed Sep 17, 2026I really enjoyed my stay at Vilanculos Guesthouse. The place was clean, comfortable and had such a warm, homely atmosphere. It felt peaceful and welcoming, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The location was also convenient for my trip to Carnival City for the show.
There wasn’t much I disliked about the property. I had a comfortable stay and everything I needed was available.

There were 4 things that I didn't like: 1. The owner switch the Geyser on and off at certain times of the day. I had to take a cold shower before attending an appointment. 2. Guests were allowed to party loudly into the early hours of the morning. 3. I ordered breakfast which was later canceled by the owner for the reason that they dont serve Halal foods. Nobody bothered the ask whether I was Muslim which I am not. 4. All establishments check out time is 11H00. The Guest House check out time is 09H00 - 10H00

The gate situation after hours is a bit tricky as you have to wait outside to be let in by security although the intercom isn’t reliable.

The staff didn't know how to communicate in English we struggled to communicate. We notified them upon booking that we will be late. The security was clueless we waited in the car before getting keys and room was dusty and smell like mold. Room remote could not be found Heater was not work.
