It’s a beautiful old farm building .Restored to perfection and set in a beautiful private garden with a Small pool and a cement dam to swim in ! Private fireplace . The beds were extremely comfortable ! Lovely walks next to the river . This is heaven ! Delicious home made bread on arrival with lamb braai packs - it was all Just perfect !

From the moment we arrived at Steynskraal we were looked after like valued guests. We were greeted by Dina who also made us fresh baked bread with butter and homemade jam. She had left a plentiful supply of delicious homemade rusks. Later Gerrit, our host, came to chat and told us about the history of his amazing property. It was evident that there has been much love put into the land. He told us where to hike and offered his quad bike to explore the surrounds. He even took my brother in-law (an avid naturalist) for a private tour of his extensive property and the nature it supports. The accommodation was lux. We stayed in a beautiful Cape Dutch home with in door fire (wood also supplied), pool and all amenities,. My wife was particularly impressed by the kitchen that was fully appointed and the beautiful touches like fresh lavender and rosemary in the rooms. This place is a hidden gem. We stayed two nights but could easily have stayed a week. A must visit

We had an amazing stay. The property was beautiful, comfy beds and beautiful views. Communication from owners were great and the soup was possibly the best I’ve had.

Holy cow! This is probably one of the best overnight stays we’ve ever had in our many travels. It was like we went back in time to the 1800s. The home is immaculate and so well-maintained. Every need was accommodated for and the serene environment was incredibly peaceful. Sunrise from the front porch and sunset from the back porch left us speechless. The host is incredibly friendly as well and you can tell they love providing a beautiful home away from home.

I cannot speak highly enough of the attention to detail, the thoughtfulness and consideration that has gone into this property. Everything you could possibly want and need! Wish we had stayed longer!

The property is on a farm but with a luxury feel, you get the best of both worlds in terms of beautiful nature and comfort. On arrival the host gave us a fresh farm bread and we ordered a braai pack. Absolutely loved how pet friendly the property was. This is not your average stay, it goes beyond expectations.

Steynskraal is a DESTINATION, not just a stopover, DON‘T miss out on a life changing experience!! The Stal had all a modern family could possibly need, but there, in the heart of the harsh Karoo it was truly treasured. Freshly baked bread and farm style eggs, butter and preserves, just YUMMY. And then the quality Karoo meat: braais were a treat, and the braai itself so well constructed, it really made a difference. The little shop with local and farm products was a true gem. The photographs are 100% accurate, but Steynskraal has so much more charm, so much to offer. We were taken on an exploratory drive to learn of its history and nature, even did a 27km MTB trail on the farm - so much is possible, including reading on varied topics, stargazing, dramatic sunsets and cooling down in the pool. A destination never to be forgotten: what an awesome introduction to South Africa’s beautiful Karoo!!

The place was very clean, and the people were friendly and welcoming. Everything was neat and well equipped, with great amenities that made our stay comfortable. We especially loved the authentic Karoo experience — enjoying a warm fire in the evening and seeing the stars so clearly at night was truly special. The home-baked bread and rusks provided as a welcoming gift were a lovely touch. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Baie mooi plaas in die Karoo. Alles was regtig perfek. Nadja se slaai en braai pakkies is uit die boonste rakke. Die swembad vir die kinders was ‘n bonus.

Appreciated all the trouble the staff goes to to make you feel at home, and all the effort that went into putting the accommodation together. Being given a freshly baked farm bread, and even having a little shop with bottled salads, as well as having the option to order an karoo braaipack was an highlight.

Es war ein wunderbarer Aufenthalt, ich kann die Unterkunft nur wärmstens empfehlen! Wir haben uns in diesem restaurierten Haus, das sehr gemütlich eingerichtet ist, sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Küche hat eine sehr gute Ausstattung. Wir haben an beiden Abenden ein Braai gemacht und hatten großen Spaß dabei. Das frische Brot war köstlich! Danke liebe Nadja!

Having the small house by ourselves. Very nice decoration in the house, and beds were comfortable. Location is unique and special, away from it all. Great small food selection for own preparation.

Cleanliness not sufficient.

This was the best stay we have ever expereinced. Nadja and her staff were exceptional! The house we stayed in was an authentic farm homestead. We had the use of a Polaris utility vehicle and explored the farm. We had unlimited wood for braai and atmosphere. The honesty shop was available 24 hours/day and had everything we needed. The freshly baked farm bread on arrival was special and the braai meat packages were diverse and delicious. It was my wife’s 70th birthday and Nadja went out of her way to make it special. Gerrit, Nadja’s husband also interacted with us. This is a place worth a second visit.

A real Karoo farm stay in the cutest cottage - clean and coxy, but at the same time spacious and homely - with everything you may need. A freshly baked bread waited on the table - delicious with home cooked soup. We could braai - and on a hot day the small splash pool set in a patch of green lawn would be a welcome treat. The colors of the Karoo at sunset, the stars at night and the absolute quiet peacefulness are so special. Wish I could stay a month.

Absolute fabulous Karoo stay. Great location off the N1 but has the feeling of a farm and with everything one needs. I would recommend anyone to stay here and to order the braai pack and/or soup.

We enjoyed our overnight at Die Roepman on Steynskraal Farm, especially the tranquil location. The cottage is beautifully furnished and had everything to make ones stay comfortable. It was lovely to arrive to a fresh bread on the table. We can highly recommend a visit.

This was a wonderful stay. Quaint and old with modern facilities and everything you could need. The braai packs were awesome and the refresh bread really a treat. This place is an oasis in the Karoo with soft green grass outside a very comfortable and stylish cottage with thoughtful, kind and attentive owners. What a treat, will be back!!

Van die oomblik wat ons by die plaas aangekom het, was dit duidelik dat Steynskraal iets besonders het. Van die gemaklike droom bed tot die pragtige dekor en die onberispelike skoonheid en netheid van die plek – alles was regtig perfek! Nadja en Gerrit het 'n ongelooflike ruimte geskep waar 'n mens gemaklik en tuis kan voel. Dit is duidelik dat hier 'n hoë standaard gehandhaaf word en soveel moeite gedoen word om gaste se verblyf spesiaal te maak. Hierdie plek straal kwaliteit en klas uit, aandag aan detail is eerste klas. Die personeel was uiters behulpsaam en vriendelik. Dit was die ideale afsluiting van ons vakansie.

Best place we have ever stayed in. Stunning, stunning, stunning. Location, house, pool, view, staff, everything was amazing! Delicious braai pack and wors. Wood and firelighters were supplied. There was a loaf of fresh bread with butter and jam waiting for us. The little shop on the property is so cute and has local products. The unrefined mielie pap from the shop is the best we've ever had. Delicious wine!

There is literally nothing we didn't like.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Steynskraal Gasteplaas. Great value for money, wonderful service and attention to detail from staff - such a lighting the fireplace prior to our arrival at dusk. A truly special place, geese pond and animals next door, braai wood ready to go! We are definitely visiting again.

Beautiful Karoo landscape and peaceful setting. The accommodation (Schoolhouse) was quaint and unique. Homebaked bread was exceptional!

Everything , from the freshly baked bread on arrival, the braai packs arranged , the honesty shop on the premises. We had the most awesome sunset and later that night we saw amazing stars. What an absolute treat to have found this gem. Hosts were awesome and gave you plenty of privacy and space. This is one of the best places we ever visited and will most definitly recommend this to anyone and of course we will most definitly be returning to this gem.

We only stayed one night that is defintly not enough time to enjoy the area and beauty.

From the pre arrival communication and sorting out braai packs for us, to meeting Geraldine on arrival and been shown around our spot, everything was just lovely. A true feel of a Karoo farm stay, beautiful lay out, great finishes in the cottage and peaceful surroundings. I would recommend this spot to anyone doing jhb-cpt trip and even just for a couple of nights away. Good for the soul

Everything! The remoteness, the sensitive restoration of the buildings and era furnishing alongside contemporary finishes. So many gorgeous decor details with wonderful indoor and outdoor facilities. Very well equipped kitchen, super comfortable bed, great shower.

This is one of the best places we stayed. I wish I can give it more than 10 points! From the moment you arrive you feel at home and to walk around the farm among all the animals was amazing! We loved our home baked bread and the bed was the best ever! They organised wood and “braai pakkies “ and they went green so no loadshedding!! We wished we could have stayed more than 1 night!
