Our elderly host was a true gentleman with impeccable hospitality service and an interesting conversationalist. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast also plentiful and delicious in a stylish room with one of the most amazing views!!

Mi habitación tenía una vista increíble del campo y las orillas de la muralla y todo alrededor es tranquilidad y paz! ...el personal sumamente amable y el desayuno es un concepto muy casero y sabroso! Me encantó y lo recomiendo para redondear la estancia en Rothenburg!
...pues como parte del encanto, es un lugar muy tranquilo y el taxi tarda mucho más de lo que uno puede esperar! poco mas de 45 minutos! ...gracias a que los encargados del hotel me ayudaron con la gente que ellos conocen, pero llegué a 2 minutos de que saliera mi tren!

Reviewed Sep 10, 2026The hotel is very nice and in a good location, but our room had windows that face a walkway that guests could use so it was not very private. Also it was not very secure so you couldn’t leave your windows open when you were out because someone could just step through the window into your room. We asked the manager if we could switch rooms but he said I was wrong and no one walks there. So we had a choice between closing the curtains or risk being eye-to eye with another guest when not fully dressed (it was August and very warm). Guests walked by and started looking in our windows on three occasions. Maybe they were trying to find the breakfast room, but it was very surprising. Also, on Booking.com, our room is called “suite with terrace”, but the terrace is really a common area for all the guests to enjoy, so I think this is a bit misleading.

Reviewed Sep 7, 2026Ein absolut herausragendes Hotel in Rothenburg ob der Tauber! Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt im Burghotel von Anfang bis Ende sehr genossen. Die Lage ist einfach traumhaft: ruhig, wunderschön und gleichzeitig ideal, um die historische Altstadt zu Fuß zu erkunden. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns die einzigartige Atmosphäre des Hauses – hier verbindet sich der historische Charme Rothenburgs mit viel Persönlichkeit und Liebe zum Detail. Unser Zimmer war sehr gemütlich, gepflegt und bot alles, was man sich für einen entspannten Aufenthalt wünscht. Auch die Sauberkeit war hervorragend. Ganz besonders hervorheben möchten wir die außergewöhnliche Gastfreundschaft. Man fühlt sich hier nicht wie einer von vielen Hotelgästen, sondern wirklich willkommen und persönlich umsorgt. Der Service war herzlich, aufmerksam und jederzeit hilfsbereit. Auch das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet und ein perfekter Start in den Tag. Für uns war das Burghotel ein wesentlicher Teil unseres wunderschönen Aufenthalts in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Wer ein besonderes, charmantes Hotel mit hervorragender Lage und echter Gastfreundschaft sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und können das Burghotel uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

Enjoyed our conversations with Otto at the front desk, telling us (in very good English) some history of the town and hotel and a bit about his childhood. Delicious breakfast eaten outside on the wall with a lovely view. Thank you very much for a super stay - wish it could have been longer.

Das Bett war auf einer Seite arg durchgelegen und so weich, dass ein gutes Schlafen nicht gelang. Die Sauberkeit ließ diesmal leider zu wünschen übrig. Spinnweben hingen vom Türsturz und hinter der Zimmertür eigentlich gut sichtbar für das Personal. Zimmer 9 ist neben der Frühstücksküche und der Kompressor des Kaffeautomaten ist stirnseitig am Kopfende des Bettes im Gästezimmer. Man sollte deshalb besser besser beizeiten aufstehen wollen. Ein Schminkspiegel im Bad fehlt.

The steps in the property! The beds for me were a little firm. We had fans in each bedroom which was fine as there is no air conditioning in the house.

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026Bra beliggenhet i nærheten av «sentrum» innenfor borgmuren. Enkelt å finne frem, og god kommunikasjon i forkant av oppholdet. Gode parkeringsmuligheter i garasje. Den skjønneste eieren Otto som ordnet alt og passet på at vi hadde ett fint opphold. Den type service skal man lete lenge etter! Vi hadde med datteren vår, så vi hadde ett stort fint rom med eget soverom for oss voksne. Stort bad og alt var rent og pent. Vi har vært mange ganger i Rothenburg og bodd flere ulike steder. Men neste gang blir det garantert dette hotellet igjen.

We stayed in room 7–a very large room with views into the valley. We appreciate the parking in the garage and it was a fair price. There is a breakfast option , which was great! (Very good eggs and jam for the bread) Many of the cafes in the town open later, so it was nice to have an early breakfast option for us early risers.
This hotel is older so doesn’t have air conditioning. We happened to be there during a very hot week, but they did have a fan, which helped. No Netflix access on the TV, so the English language channels were very limited.

C'est un hôtel de la chaîne Relais du Silence. Mais surprise ce n'était pas respecté par les occupants de la chambre du dessous. J'ai du attendre tous les soirs 23 heure pour avoir un silence propice à l'endormissement. Le petit déjeuner correct pour moi mais pourrait être plus généreux.

Our room had amazing views of surrounding countryside. The welcome from the owner, Otto, and advice was much appreciated - he's rightly very proud of his town and his hotel.

Besonders sind auch die Gespräche mit dem 87jährigen Hotelier. Die Ausgangslage zum Erkunden der Altstadt ist perfekt!

Reviewed Jul 17, 2026Otto and Gabriela were wonderful hosts. We got the "annex apartment" which has its own private garden. It was a magical place to enjoy the sunsets from. The location is perfect - walking distance to the main square in old town.
The apartment has 4 bedrooms, 3 of which are on the third floor via a spiral staircase. If anyone in your group has mobility issues, you can put them on the ground floor that also has a full bathroom. Everyone else will need to be upstairs. This wasn't a problem for us, but just something to be aware of.

Reviewed Jul 10, 2026⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a truly wonderful stay at burg Hotel . The property itself is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by stunning scenery, and offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. What made my stay even more special was the gentleman , named otto at the front desk. He was an elderly gentleman who was incredibly polite, kind-hearted, welcoming, and exceptionally helpful throughout my stay. His genuine hospitality made me feel at home and left a lasting impression. I would happily choose to stay at this Hotel again for two reasons: the outstanding hospitality of the front desk staff and the beautiful property itself. Both made this an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable stay in rothenburg.

Reviewed Jul 6, 2026This is the most charming place to stay. Our family stayed in the family house next door while our parents stayed in the hotel, and it worked out perfectly. Otto and his family were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was wonderful, the views were beautiful, and we especially loved spending time in the rose garden. The location couldn’t have been better and made it easy to explore the area. Our visit happened to be during a heat wave, so the lack of air conditioning made the rooms a bit warm. Opening the windows helped, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re visiting during unusually hot weather. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily return.

The breakfast room was pretty and the breakfast was lovely. The staff, especially the lovely gentleman Otto, were very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend this charming hotel.

Reviewed Jun 30, 2026Beautiful property in great location and with parking for 15euro which is pretty reasonable given the location and convenience. The staff were extremely lovely and breakfast was quite good as well. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting. It was 30degrees while we were in Rothenburg due to the heat wave and due to building facade rules most places do not and cannot have air con. Honestly the room was a pretty good temperature as we had two windows allowing for a cross breeze and a large tower fan for the room which was fairly powerful.

Reviewed Jun 29, 2026Wie die Zeit vergeht: Der Ort: Traumhaft. Das Hotel: Eine Schmuckschatulle. Der in Ehren u Aktivität ergraute Hotelier der alten Schule: bewundernswert. Da versteht es sich von selbst, daß alles: Zimmer, Service, Frühstück einfach PRIMA waren. Vielen Dank, wir kommen wieder.
Das Wetter auf der Hinfahrt: Es hat aus Kübeln geschüttet: Aber das hat den schönen Tagen dort keinen Abbruch getan.....

Het was die dagen onwijs warm weer, rond 38 graden. Wij sliepen op de bovenste verdieping waar de hitte ondraaglijk was. Er stond een mobiele airco maar die deed het steeds een paar minuten en blies daarna warme lucht. Dat was het enige dat tegenviel.

Reviewed Jun 26, 2026Établissement très bien placé, à deux pas de la cathédrale, et avec parking couvert sur demande. Hôtel familial. Très bon accueil et très jolie maison excessivement bien entretenue. La famille propriétaire fait tout pour que l’on se sente bien.
Le Wifi pourrait être amélioré. Connexion coupée sans arrêt. Pas de climatisation alors qu’à cette période, il faisait plus de 35°. Mais c’est un peu la règle dans la région. Il faudra que ces établissements s’adaptent au réchauffement climatique.

Everything about our stay was wonderful: the room was spacious and comfortable, and the view from the window was spectacular, overlooking a beautiful valley with fields and forests. The breakfast room felt like something out of a Wes Anderson movie, with charming decor and stunning views—either across the valley or toward the historic city wall. The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back. And as an added bonus, there was a friendly cat wandering around the property!

Reviewed Jun 21, 2026Die Lage, direkt an/auf der Stadtmauer und das edle, altehrwürdige Ambiente und der äußerst liebenswürdige Senior-Chef haben den Aufenthalt in der entzückenden, aber sehr touristisch geprägten Stadt, aufgewertet. Kein Aufzug war für uns kein Problem, da Bauch, Beine und Po im Alltag ohnehin zu wenig Beachtung erhalten. 😬 Bei über 30 Grad hat die Klima-Anlage gefehlt, aber führt nicht zu Punktabzug, da dieses Gemäuer nicht so einfach umzurüsten ist… Das Frühstück war vielfältig und der Raum sehr ansprechend. Auch das Personal war zuvorkommend und freundlich. Parkplätze sind in hauseigener, hoher Garage vorhanden, so dass unser Bully problemlos Platz fand.
Dass die Matratzen zu weich waren, ist mein subjektives Empfinden und daher kein Mangel.

Toller Ausblick von der Terasse auf der Burgmauer . Hr. Berger ist ein sehr freundlicher und zuvorkommender Gastgeber , ein wirklicher Hotelier alter Schule !

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding; a wide selection of meats, cheeses, breads and cereals with eggs made to order. If ever back to Rothenburg, will definitely stay here again!

Reviewed Jun 19, 2026Die Lage ist weltklasse mitten in der Altstadt. Der Ausblick vom Frühstücksraum ist ein Traum und das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend. Die Atmosphäre ist angenehm familiär.
Man muss sich (aufgrund der hervorragenden Lage) daran gewöhnen mit dem Auto durch die engen Gassen zu fahren ;) Aber wenn man einmal da ist braucht man das Auto eigentlich nicht, da alles fußläufig erreichbar ist.

Reviewed Jun 19, 2026Hotel is located inside the walled part of the city and may actually be part of the wall. It is beautiful and the rooms are well appointed. The only reason I did not give it a higher rating is that the shower is quite slippery and the parking is expensive and actually the size of the parking stall is related to how expensive your room is. So if your book a small room you get a small parking stall. Staff are very friendly and speak some English.

There is parking available but we chose to park outside the city walls and walk in as it was cheaper and easier.
