Lovely room and facilities. Nice to have access to the bar. Good parking close to our room too
The hairdrier blew a fuse so we could not make breakfast etc. But we were packing up anyway
Loved our room and the decor. Very cozy.
That the door to the courtyard and carport couldn't be opened with a key from the outside.
Staff very nice
Location suited what we required
It suited us but a lack of staff if you wanted anything
Staff and room
The only small thing would be the loud slam of the toilet seat
The room had a lovely bathroom.
The room was very dark and very dangerous glass coffee table that had very sharp edges. There was no actual duvet, what was on the bed was a very thin type of cover. There was stain on the bedspread. Reception not attended on check in took some time to come to the desk.
Lovely rooms and great pressure in the shower.
Nothing
Very spacious
I looked for the hairdryer but could find one
Room was nice and a good size. Nice balcony area although colds day so not really used. Bathroom good size, shower good and good water pressure. Beds comfy and room was warm after heat pump turned on. Good parking. Bar area looks nice however we didn't use these facilities.
Did not have satellite TV or Sky TV. Only free view which was very disappointing and not really good enough. Wi-fi was not good enough making the poor TV options even worse. We stayed 2 nights but the room was not cleaned after our first, despite the cleaner seeing us when we went out for the afternoon. Bathroom area cold and no heater. No shampoo in shower, only body wash.
Beautiful warm.amd comfy. Great shower
Nothing all good
The room was large and clean. Parking was not visible from the road which was excellent for us,as we drive a classic
No shampoo
Very well appointed rooms, clean & tidy. Great value for money.
Wonderful property
Bathroom could have been cleaner. Kitchen area small - hard to get kettle under tap in sink (too small)
I loved the building and layout and the fact it was a converted stable. Staff were friendly and helpful
Enjoyed our stay! Perfect location. Clean and quiet. Rupi was very welcoming.

We were moved to the premier suite for our convenience without a bat of an eyelid. Nothing was an issue and the host couldn't be any more accommodating. The premier suite suited our needs more and it was a great recommendation by the staff. The Gateway Motor Inn has quickly become our place to stay in Masterton.
Spacious room, clean bathroom.
Room was nice and clean, very comfortable and spacious.
The room was clean, comfortable and well-maintained.The toilet and bathroom were very clean, appeared newly renovated and were well maintained. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The check-in and check-out process was smooth, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing.
We were greeted as we entered by such a lovely man who was so happy and helpful. We walked into a stunning reception/bar area that was beautiful clean and so homely n warm. We were shown to our beautiful room that was so tastefully decorated. It was so lovely and warm. The room and bathroom were absolutely spotlessly clean and well maintained. Amazingly comfortable bed too!!!
How slippery the bathroom floor was. And a constant dripping noise outside from the drain on the porch.
Very clean room and warm and cosy. Would definitely stay again 😊

All aspects of my stay
Nothing it was all great
Very friendly staff I booked last minute and was still given 5 star treatment. They were very prompt very friendly and helpful. They made our stay feel warm and welcoming. Room was very warm and nicely cleaned and tidy. Exceptional stay for me and my family. Definitely liked how they allowed us to check in late and gave perfect instructions that were easy and fast. Smooth check in and check out. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing a nice place to stay.
Very nice appointed modern rooms and bathrooms. Quiet and great parking spaces.
Nothing to note
The room and furnishings were above average.
The couch. It wasn't ideal for me, as I suffer from lumbar issues.
Immaculate hotel with beautiful facilities far superior to equivalent priced places.
Loved our stay, the room was amazing, everything you need and more. Very lux feel. Bathroom also very modern and clean. Staff member was very helpful and really nice. We definitely will come back, highly recommend.
Nothing. We liked everything.
We liked everything it was so comfy and welcoming
There wasn't any that we didn't like
Rooms were spacious, and bathrooms were modern. Loved the racehorse names for the rooms.
The self-catering facilities were less than advertised. Only on arrival were we encouraged not to cook anything in our rooms.
Nice and quiet
The room felt new, carpet/underlay was top quality. While the hotel is near the road only slight noise, if any, was experienced. The roadside appearance does not do justice to the accommodation behind it. The reception area included a bar and lounge which unfortunately we did not use felt relaxing and highly appointed. The shower was the best I have had, the volume of water was like the Masterton reservoir was dedicated to this one shower head. Heating was by a virtually silent heat-pump (at low speed).
The fact we had to leave and that the property was on the market. I only hope the new owners can maintain the current service and property. Not sure about the price, seemed competitive with other equivalents, possibly lower, but we were paying in US$, so it was a great deal compared to USA.
Warm comfortable spacious and very helpful host

Great bed
It was our first time staying at the Gateway Motor Inn and had such a lovely welcome. The new owners were very attentive. They made sure we knew how to use everything, as well as had all that we needed for our stay. The car parking was easy. The rooms are at ground level. The rooms smelled nice and they were clean. The curtains were a thick black out style, so we had a good sleep. The bedding was heavy and warm...the bed was comfortable. The shower was a walk-in style...no issues for my elderly mother. We loved that it was quiet and convenient. It was a pleasure to stay. We will stay again!

Very nice welcome, beautifully laid out rooms, comfortable
Nice stay, manager said to not rush the next morning for check out which was nice to offer that.
Clean bed pillows and cases, the ones we had on our bed spelt like that they had been used and not washed for a while.. Bit of mold in the shower in between the shower tiles.
Excellent shower, comfortable beds, quiet, plenty of parking. An elegant suite with all the comforts required.
Loved this place, proper antique furniture wide hallways and big rooms with outdoor areas, mint bathroom. Quiet room
Great stay, exceptional rooms, with antique furniture. Wide hallways and quiet enough. Great value for money, fabulous service. Can’t fault it.
Room was well appointed and very comfortable with outdoor patio. Bathroom excellent, good kitchenette with fridge, tea and coffee facilities. Bed very comfortable with good linen, extra pillows and everything spotlessly clean.
Checkout was difficult. Please have someone at the desk or watching it on camera so guests can check out in person. No one was about when we checked out - a sign told us to leave our keys the bowl. We assumed our card would be debited so put the keys in the bowl and left. 15 mins later a phone call to say we had to come back. The sign had been turned around and now said we needed to ring a bell to checkout. Please, your guests would appreciate your attention.
It was clean, comfortable and very welcoming.
It was very dark, with outdated furniture.
The size of the room and quietness
I didn't like arriving at reception at 3pm to find a note saying closed. No explanation just a key with my booking details showing my phone number, email left on the desk for anyone to see.No directions to find the room, no milk.I telephoned the number shown on the closed notice but no one answered. I cannot understand why they couldn't have phoned me, text or emailed asking for my ETA and advising that the reception would be closed.
Good size room . Very friendly welcoming staff
Next to quite a busy road
The Gateway is the premier accommodation in Masterton.
Everything was great.
The room was well presented and large. the bedding and furniture were clean and in keeping with the style of the room. A slightly raised chair would have been helpful as the chairs were at normal height for an able body person but challenging for a disable person to get out of.
As a disabled person the shower was not user friendly. Having the shower handle above the wall seat made washing difficult especially when the water temperature varied whilst showering.
The bed was comfortable.
There was no shampoo or conditioner.
Comfortable bed. Could do with an extractor fan in the bathroom. Not much room. A small cutting board would be useful. Spotlessly clean, thank you.
Lovely and clean,very spacious
Big room, nice and clean
WIFI kept dropping in and out
A very comfortable and quiet room
Just manageable to stay overnight .
Exceptionally deserted hotel & poorly lit lobby giving ghostly feel . Hotel claims to have kitchenette but is a joke . Their is no stove to o& so said kitchenette is in a very constrained space where microwave need to be shunted from its location to bring the cord overlapping the counter to a distant socket . Photo graph attached . No kitchenware as claimed . However not required for the provided amenity .
The room was very spacious with large beds. The beds were very comfortable. We barely heard any traffic noise although it's located in the main street.
We stayed two nights around Christmas and there was literally no service (reception was closed and no room cleaning service on Christmas day) which we thought was a bit unusual from a place calling themselves a hotel. We understand most places are closed on Christmas to let people take off but they should have discounted the room rate if no service is offered so we felt it was a bit pricey for what we got.
Good
Nothing
Bed was soft and plush, pillows lovely and clean, the room it self "empire rose" had access to the garden of white roses outside, with. Cute little table and chairs. Air conditioning was nice and cool, which was perfect because it was so hot.
The things that were not enjoyable was minuscule- ie didn't like the carpet in the hallway -_- which doesn't really actually matter to me because it wasn't the same. Maybe that there isn't any carparks to the room, but neither here nor there. Can't help that. And the carpet matches the overall aesthetic which kind of of old, Scottish, English luxury place.
Our unit was spacious with 2 comfortable King beds. The days were super hot 31 degrees so, the air conditioning was a huge bonus. The blackout curtains also helped keep the heat & light out early morning.
Room was lovely. Lots of car parks.
Wifi kept dropping out.
Clean and comfortable. Very swish newly-refurb'd bathroom.
