Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao

The property is old and dilapidated. There was heavy rain during our overnight stay and the room was leaking. The hallway was leaking as well and they had to put a pail to collect water.

The facilities had never been upgraded. The floors to our room were all scratched and stained. The toilet was mouldy and the air conditioning was close to non existent. It was very warm.

This was my second stay at this hotel and it will w my last. Although clearly still liked by the Philippino crowd, the hotel is becoming a relic and clearly the management hasn't really understood the necessity of renovating the rooms to a much better level. In our room the effort was done to install new shower heads with the direct result that I needed to bow for each shower so I could get wet. We could clearly hear each conversation of our neighbours in our room, the lighting of the rooms is back from the seventies, a few plugs, snotty staff etc. Previously, the breakfast was impressive but it is clear now that the staff is working very hard to get the basics right as the number of staff is too few and issues like making sure all bread, juice, food are present and refilled are not done in time.

I like the location, the accessibility and the staff are so friendly. Its a lovely place to be. Not high rice building, you feel like you are with the nature.

I didnt like how cold the jacuzzi is and pool is so deep for someone who doesnt know how to swim.

The beach is useless. Some parts obviously need maintanance.

Location and the grounds were the best part as they were well kept.

The service was terrible. We had lots of issues with our reservation due to the lack of front desk experience. Our toilet needed maintenance and it took half a day for someone to come fix it with no alternative offered while waiting for a solution - I told them im pregnant and it wasn’t acknowledged that I would need easy access at all times. There’s a card in the room that says you can speak to front desk using WhatsApp because no one was answering the phones and of course no was was also replying to my messages on the app about asking for our bags to be delivered or for the toilet fixing updates. No responses and when we left there was no apology and again no acknowledgment of how uncomfortable our stay was. There was issues trying to charge food back to rooms even though we had given them a $4000 peso cash deposit for incidentals. Definitely won’t be coming back and won’t be recommending.

The property is very convenient if you want to go to the Samal island, many ferry options are close.

The sea is very dirty, and even though the hotel has a beach, you are not allowed to go to the water.

De kamer. Helaas hebben de kamera hunnbeste tijd gehad. Het slot innde schuifdeur naar balkon was kapot en deur kon alleen afgesloten worsen met een ketting. Het bad was enorm beschadigd door slijtage. De kranen vielen bijna van de muur. Een renovatie is zeer hard nodig. Anders is de kamer de orijs niet waard.

The breakfast is very nice lot of food to choose from,and also the location there's a lot to do in this hotel,the ambiance you can seat near to the beach even thought quest is not allowed to swim there,they very huge pool and a big nice garden with very nice landscaping that every someone is cleaning.I like all the front entrance there the one who called taxi.Its very relaxing and quite place since it's away from the public commuters.Rest assured that your breaking clean because of surrounded by nature.

I stayed in the second floor the balcony is good,bed is very clean and comfortable.The things i didn't like is the rest room it needs to be renovated it very old and need some attention and also the furniture is out dated as well.

The restaurant staff was excellent

The security and the staff were always attentive.The view was great with all the trees.

The devote was outdated.I felt like I was in a fifties hotel.The tub looked like it was caulked by a 3 year old.The first day the toilet was clogged it was not worth the money.

I loved staying at this hotel set in beautiful verdant gardens. Massive in scale, 3 separate housing units. Large verandas. Somewhat dated but maintained with a charm. Staff everywhere were cheerful, pleasant and helpful. Buffet breakfasts were a delight. Oddly enough the bar was not open everyday. A walk to the 7 Eleven was a trip too far, for reference.

Not much not too like. Some may say it’s too far to walk. Advice would be to stay elsewhere

Old world charm, rooms were very spacious, located close to SM Mall a d airport. Grounds are very spacious. Will definitely stay here again. Big shout out to Lawrence on the front desk, very polite and courteous

Needs to be upgraded especially in the bathroom...very dated...struggled to turn on the hot water. Some of the building on the outside needs to be repaired urgently. The breakfast needs to have greater variety.

They charge my 2 nights for one night .87 dollars. That's expensive for Philippines. I seen the first pending charge at check in. Then they told me to pay again. They tried to argue the first charge was security and would be refunded. It didn't. I just checked.

Very out dated, the rooms were rough. Poor lighting system. Rooms full of flys and bugs, no balcony. Fridge old, very loud, air conditioning poor and very loud also. Towels didn’t smell great. All the bed rooms could do with revamping. Bar/ food closed at 10

The hotel area and landscaping gave you a serene and tropical haven of rest and peace. Good relaxing vibes. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful picturesque sites to capture great pictures. Great paved path walk for early morning brisk walking by the seashore with great sunrise view!!The buffet was awesome with lots of variety everyday. The staff were so helpful and friendly.

The pool was 10 feet deep all around. 3 feet from the edge of the pool and drops to the deep 10 feet, just not a relaxing way to stay in the pool unless you want to tread in the water constantly. The rooms could use an upgrade but clean and comfortable to rest and sleep. Well maintained.

I thought the hotel was okay, view was great breakfast was good. But why one star: My complaints: 1. Amenities: pool was okay but you can’t use the beach as it is polluted and next to a canal so it’s only good for pictures 🤦‍♀️ 2. Room: i booked in booking.com and i liked it because they have available rooms that I can choose between double bed and twin bed, ended up the hotel will decide according to what’s available upon check-in. Now we ended up with both twin beds 😕 3. Toilet: The toilet bath and the shower are very old. The shower and the faucet runs water altogether when it’s on. Total waste of water! Ends up water floods the toilet floor. Complained to maintenance. 4. Pool: we ordered drinks while swimming. We have some chips with us so we can munch and the staff said it’s not allowed and they charge corkage fee. What’s the difference between us eating that same chips when we are around the vicinity? We paid for the hotel stay, not a day pass visitors! Next, after our swimming, they didn’t allow us to take the pool towels to our room so I ended up walking to my hotel room, wet and in a bikini. What a service!

When go to Davao City i always stay in Insular i always had a massage after a long flight a buffet breakfast , a nice wlak arpund the beach and a nice swim in the pool with my cocktail.

It needs a good renovation.

I left my jacket in the hotel room and e-mailed the hotel if it was there. Luckily, the room service staff kept my jacket in safe keeping. Despite the fact that i left the jacket there for almost three weeks, I am thankful that they were honest people and it does really matter. In addition to that the hotel staff were polite and approachable at all times.

Some wooden skirtings in the bathroom looked old and needs to be replaced but the generally the hotel room was exceptionally clean.

Unable to swim at beach but not really the hotel's fault.

The bed was comfortable, it was quiet and the grounds looked very nice. It was on the ocean and had nice views when you walked to the ocean front area.

The water for the shower was intermittent and didn't work properly for half of the stay, even after alerting management. The property looked tired and the ceiling looked like it was damaged at some point and not repaired. The ceiling of the patio was disgusting looking with paint peeling all over and huge chunks of concrete not there, possibly from an earthquake but not repaired. The bathtub had spots where the enamel was gone and you could feel that it wasn't repaired. Everything in the room looked tired and in need of refurbishment. The resort was far from restaurants and bars, and there was no entertainment onsite so you have to travel 20+ minutes to get to other entertainment venues.

The left side of properly very needs the renovation of public corridor first, then bathrooms and air condition In rooms have be changed.
