Quintessential Mexican decor, large attractive private terrace - very good breakfast with warm fresh pastries and good variety of fruit.
Intimate space. Very cute boutique hotel. Very close to zona centro, 3 minute walk to the parroquia. Staff were so nice. Dulce always ready to help us with anything. The room cleaner was very sweet as well.
Wifi was a bit spotty. And i wish they provided house slippers.
Loved everything about this place. It’s so well done. The staff are wonderful (hey Dulce, Nancy, Christina), the details are perfection, the location is in the middle of everything. Highly recommend.
Es muy personalizado y cuidan cada detalle para hacer tu estadía inmejorable
Beautiful rooms and amazing staff! We will definitely be back.
Nothing
Every design element is carefully considered. The breakfast is wonderful, and the staff are absolutely lovely. The bed is beyond comfortable. Location is super central. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to experience San Miguel.
Within walking distance of everything we wanted to see on our 1st trip to San Miguel de Allende. And our private terrace, just off the bedroom, was a joy and a bonus ... where we ate the wonderful prepared breakfast that was delivered to our door every morning. I especially enjoyed relaxing in the old, rejuvenated bathtub ...
Its nice to be able to say that there wasn't anything we didn't like, other than having to actually leave our new-found paradise and fly home!
Kahvaltı, konum, hotelin tarihi dokusu, odaların tasarım ve tefrişi, balkonu, temizliği ve servis kalitesi çok iyiydi.
Beautiful design of hotel. Great location. Rustic ambience. Good service. Good breakfast.
Nothing disliked.
Beautiful room and bathroom. Dulce was a lovely and attentive helper.
Not much natural light in our ground floor room, a dark room and no outside space. It is solely a bedroom.
The room and bed
The decor
Beautifull decoration, very nice bathroom, bed was good, great location and Dulce (hotel manager) was very nice!!
It is not really a hotel, there is no real réception and no kitchen. Even if the rooms are very nice, breakfast for example is poor (healthy but poor). They don’t have a boiler to heat water or serve a tea. There is no physical kitchen to cook you an egg or serve you a toast. Breakfast was served in bed but everything you receive is cold (due to the lack of a real kitchen). If you are ok with that…then the place is worth to go.
Such a beautiful stay and the breakfast basket each morning was a sweet touch. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
The hot water was touch and go in the shower but we were able to get it to work after it took some time to heat up.
Excellent staff
Front door lock needs some better solution
Beautiful boutique hotel managed by women. It was so difficult to choose which room I wanted to stay in. Each one is absolutely stunning, the art and decor A+. The staff was extremely attentive in person as well as via WhatsApp. Central location near points of interest, laundry services and of course taco stands…what else can you ask for?
Shower took some time getting hot but it is what it is.

Le style unique, la décoration, l'accueil, l'emplacement
l'absence d'acces aux terrasses sur le toit
We just returned from a one night stay in the Chana room. We had great excitement for staying at Meson Hidalgo. I had read numerous reviews singing its praises. I can tell you that I was very disappointed at this property. Pros: Location Staff- especially Dulce went out of her way to make us feel at home. Cons: The room is starting to show age. It was very poorly lit. Bathtub painted black and impossible to see ( with sides of tub high) No TV Breakfast: delivered in a basket was day old pastry and yogurt and juice Coffee: you made in the barely functioning nespresso.(we walked down the street to Starbucks after 2 failed attempts.) Needless to say we paid a high nightly fee( at a total cost of almost $400 usd) and were very disappointed in what I would call a guest house.
Mesón Hidalgo is undoubtedly a charming property, beautifully renovated with great attention to Mexican tradition and art. The location is perfect, the rooftop terrace is lovely, and the girl at the front desk was always kind and helpful. However, the overall value doesn’t match the high price point, especially when compared to nearby 5-star hotels offering a wider range of services.
The biggest issue is the noise: the room is located right above a nightclub, making it nearly impossible to sleep without earplugs — and on some nights, not even those help. The shower is outdated and not very comfortable, and while breakfast in the room is a nice touch, it could be more generous and include savory options.
Gorgeous room, great location, friendly staff, comfortable accommodations. Photo worthy everything. Breakfast was brought to the room in a basket, very charming.
The water temperature was impossible to regulate. The only con is that the hot water didn’t always work in the shower, even after running the water for a little bit to let it get warm. A common issue in Mexico (I’ve found) but unpleasant nonetheless.
I loved starting off each day on my balcony with my breakfast basket. It included fruit, yogurt, juice, sweet pastry and a savory pastry. The location is only a block away from the El Jardin but far enough away you have your peace. The room/hotel is beautifully decorated. There are only 3 rooms so you often feel like you are the only one there.
Style, ambience and location.
Nothing. It was perfect.
Meson Hidalgo was more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel. There was no amenities nor lounge area in the property other than your own room. If there was even just a tiny place to sit or have breakfast outside of room, that would have been better. Our room was as charming as shown in the picture, but quite old and smelled very musty which we were taken aback at first. Although, the bed was comfortable an the location was excellent - it was a good place to come back just to sleep. The staff is there only in the daytime and available via whatsupp rest of the time of the day when we need help.
Perfect location near the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel. Very comfortable and clean accommodations. We got the Su Hermana, the largest room when we booked last minute (same day). The room is above street level so lots of steps to get there. Nice outdoor patio on the street side. We checked in on a Tuesday and so the night was quiet. The following night was noiser and we heard loud music from surrounding establishments until midnight. There are two double doors which also serve as windows. The wooden doors provided good light control except that the skylights let light in as soon as the sun rises. Not a big deal for us because we wanted to be up early. Just an observation for those who want to sleep in on holiday. The bed is comfortable and the sheets soft.
Design of rooms was wonderful
Shower drain did not work well.
This is an adorable boutique hotel. They only have three rooms but they’re absolutely unforgettable. The staff contacted us prior to arrival to ensure everything was ready for us. Dulce was literally the SWEETEST! All the employees were very kind and helpful. The location is also incredibly ideal, only a 2 minute walk from the main square. I would highly recommend for anyone traveling to San Miguel de Allende to stay here.
Hotel is close to center, very walkable, and quiet (on weeknights)
Wow what a disappointing stay. Maison Hidalgo is a hotel beautifully curated for photographs that doesn’t deliver on what’s advertised. Everything so aesthetically captured is a little less shiny in practice - the gorgeous breakfast fruit spread is instead sliced banana and some cubes of papaya; details like the fresh floral bouquets, fruit basket, and water carafe are absent; no hammock; edited bathroom design to be more utilitarian. Details enough to add up to a space that feels less welcoming or cared for. Then there are the comfort/ quality issues of the room unacceptable at this price point: a shower head spraying water in wonky directions like a cheap motel, the toilet sometimes not flushing, the heat not working and the provided space heater not enough to get truly warm at night. Nail in the coffin - Meson Hidalgo is adjacent to a night club that will pump hardcore bass into your room until nearly 4am. I’m shocked this hasn’t come up prominently in more reviews - are people staying weeknights only!? It’s not a ‘light sleepers take note’ level of noise. It is absolute torture. I thought I was treating myself when I booked, but this hotel was a total let down. I came to SMA excited for a respite and left sick, sleep deprived, and wishing I had stayed somewhere else that let me experience what should have been the magic of this city.
location
I found this hotel online and was immediately drawn to its photos. However, the actual experience fell short of the visual appeal presented. The room I stayed in had a terrace that looked stunning in the photos, featuring patterned cushions, decorative rugs, and an exotic vibe. In reality, there were no rugs or decorations; it resembled a Starbucks outdoor seating area instead. The hotel explained that they change the terrace theme depending on the weather, which is a reasonable explanation. However, changing themes should mean altering the colors or patterns, not eliminating the rugs entirely. Overall, the hotel is not cheap for the area, but the experience was disappointing. Even the showerhead in the bathroom was poorly maintained, with water spraying in all directions. Unfortunately, this stay did not live up to expectations.
Lots of charm and great location!
The room was amazing! All around the room are intricate details and interesting things to look at. It was also so comfortable and spacious—a truly great value for what you pay. We also really loved the breakfast provided and loved eating it on our private little patio. The vibe of the boutique is so great and it’s such a convenient, central location. With all the amazing looking places to stay in San Miguel, I had a really hard time deciding and ended up booking a few different places. All of them were amazing, but this one was my favorite. I would absolutely stay again. The customer service was also 10/10. The staff helped us with everything we needed.
Just a lovely stay. We could not have been happier. Breakfast was great, room was so comfortable and the location could not be beat. Communication was easy as well. Thank you! We hope to return sooner rather than later.
Nothing
Completely unique, well thought out spaces with every detail considered. The owners/management clearly take pride in the property and level of service. A master class in hospitality. I look forward to returning.
Everything was perfect.
Great location for easy access to Centro. Large room.
Of course as is typical in Centro it can be very noisy. There is no sound insulation at all. No windows. AC unit is loud but that is helpful in drowning out sound.
A small boutique hotel that is beautifully designed. The room and the bathroom are very spacious, it had a very comfortable king sized bed, and our room had a balcony which we loved and had our breakfast on. The hotel itself is very calm and quiet but during the weekend you can hear some noise from the city center, however, during the week it is extremely quiet and all you hear are crickets in the night. It had an AC but we never used it as the weather was very temperate. We traveled with our small dog and she loved to hang out on the balcony. The location is very central to everything and a short walking distance to all places we wanted to visit. We loved our stay.
Excellent location, beautiful furnishings, so many thoughtful touches. Loved the large bathtub and comfortable bed. We found it to be quiet in spite of its central location. There is a nightclub nearby which was thumping on Friday night, but in the Chana room with the air conditioner on, we couldn't hear it.
The only very minor discomfort was that the air conditioner didn't really cool the room as well as we would have liked. We were in the Chana room, which is large with very high ceilings, so we understand why it's hard to cool.
The service was wonderful, the location was great, everything was so clean and comfortable. Breakfast was such a thoughtful touch! Loved staying there!
The silence, the privacy, the room is beautiful, the perfect bed and the delucious breakfast
Nothing
The property is beautiful! Majo was very helpful and very attentive. The location was close to many places.
If you are a light sleeper the noise might bother you. On the weekend expect noise but during the week it's good. But they do have earplugs for those who need them. But if you don’t mind the noise you will be good. This only pertains for the Guest room: Su Hermana.
Excellent breakfast delivered to room and great location in city center. More than enough attractions within walking distance. Staff friendly and accommodating. Porch, private sitting area adjacent to one room spacious and pleasant. Internet worked well.
Unexpected nightly loud noise due to disco a few doors away and adjacent street. In-room air conditioner helped but also somewhat noisy, itself. One room had no windows. We were told that local preservation rules prevented modifications to solve these problems. Location near center of downtown is an offsetting benefit.
Gorgeous historic room with stylish interior design, great recommendations from the property about things to do in SMDA, friendly staff, amazing location
No or barely any hot water in the showers (tried at 11am, 8pm), text asking about it was not answered
First thing that caught our eyes was that every corner of this property is very instagrammable, in a good way. Very stylish, with great attention to details, you just want to immerse in that atmosphere and vibe. We were not surprised that it was decorated by a famous designer and included in various magazines as a hotel to stay. We also noticed that all minor issues highlighted in the latest reviews were already fixed, which is greatly appreciated. Location is perfect for exploring the city, close to everything. They also have arrangement with a parking nearby with a discount. But please note that property is located in a close proximity to quite noisy bar, so you may need earplugs. The hotel is now providing them (again because someone in reviews pointed that out). Also I would say that breakfast is not that abundant. But it was nice to have it in a picnic basket on our Terrase. But all in all it was great stay!
The only thing to note is that staff is slowly responding via what’s app (if you ask something in the evening/morning, the response will come only late afternoon when it is not relevant anymore).
Location was great. The room was beautiful and felt clean. Very boutique experience. The breakfast was also nice, and the pastries were delicious.
Not much the hotel can do about it, but there was a club nearby, and music was playing well past midnight on a Sunday night.
Property is located near some very loud clubs where the music permeates the walls.
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, very central location
Could not sleep at all due to a club nearby - were up until 3am (even with earplugs and sound machines)
The room was spectacular. So beautifully decorated and full of character. The staff was friendly and helpful and the location was perfect.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Meson Hidalgo. Here are the highlights. Location: Méson Hidalgo is located in a great part of town, walkable to just about anywhere you’d want to go. Staff: Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms: The room was beautiful. Very artfully designed.
While we enjoyed our stay, there were a few minor things we wish had been different. Noise: On weekends there is a nearby club that plays VERY loud music late at night. The thumping of the bass is inescapable and not for the faint of heart. This was not something we knew prior to booking. Transportation: We had a slight hiccup with the transportation the hotel arranged for us. While the staff were helpful and the problem was eventually solved, communication about what exactly was taking place could’ve been better. Atmosphere: The Chana room does not include access to a private patio. It would’ve been nice to have a private outdoor space to enjoy or some sort of shared, private communal space. But since there are shops on the first floor, you feel a little more like you’re just renting a room versus staying in a nice hotel.
the breakfast was nice. the property was very artistic and a great location.
however, the shower handle fell off the first time we tried to use it and the tub didn’t drain. we asked the staff for help looking into various activities and their answers were delayed and sometimes they didn’t answer at all - for instance, inquired after a day pass at Rosewood and never got a response. on our first two nights fireworks directly outside the property kept us up from 5am onwards (and we had no warning of a festival directly on the square for which drums were beating almost constantly for a full day).
Meson Hidalgo stands out for its impeccably appointed rooms and excellent service, particularly from Erica the house manager. The rooms were divine featuring soft beds and rich linens. The bathroom was large with plenty of hot! hot! water perfect for unwinding at the end of the day. Every detail ensured comfort making our stay not just enjoyable but memorable. Be sure to pop into the perfumery on the bottom level. What extraordinary scents. Highly recommend for a luxurious, worry-free experience.
It felt like. eing in a home and the room had a balcony which had a little view of the square
The vathroom could use more lighting
A beautiful building in a perfect location. The design is very unique and magic.
Options for the breakfast basket are limited. Some details (shower knobs, fireplace) lacked maintenance.
Absolutely amazing stay! The staff here is simply wonderful and the breakfast was absolutely delightful every morning! I highly recommend staying here if you want a perfectly, centrally located spot in SMA. My best friend and I couldn't stop talking about how perfectly located it is. Not only that, but the rooms have been featured in many interior design publications and it felt surreal to be staying in such a famously photographed hotel. It felt like we were living in a magazine! Absolute perfection! We're already planning our return trip!
Some of the decor was just a little bit dusty here and there, which did aggravate my best friend's allergies. But otherwise, everything else was perfect!
The property is historic but maintains all the comforts. The manager is fabulous and can help in any way possible. Location is excellent.
Central location, inside the pedestrian area. Unique charm . Room is large, has high ceilings and is well decorated Staff was very nice and helpful .
Not very well insulated, you can hear the noise from the room upstairs as well as the surrounding night clubs.
Beautiful place in a perfect central location. The decor was gorgeous, the toiletries divine and the bed was super comfortable. Erica was lovely too!
Absolutely beautiful - location so close to everything, private terrace and the tub was divine! Beautiful decor and design Staff were very friendly and helpful - especially Erica
We stayed on a Saturday night and there must be an all night club/disco next door and the music was so loud all night! Definitely needed ear plugs…
Beautiful property located just blocks from the square. Immaculately clean, friendly, and helpful staff. Beautifully designed and great attention to detail. The fresh flowers and gas fireplace were wonderful extras. Highly recommended!
Wouldn’t change a thing! A really special place.
The chic and beautiful interior design.
As some reviewers have mentioned, there is sometimes noise from a nearby bar. I stayed 3 nights but was only disturbed on the Friday night. I knew this could be an issue before booking but wanted to stay here regardless so was ok about it.
A beautiful oasis hidden in San Migel de Allende. The art and overall curation of details within the room was out of this world. The staff are so attentive, wonderful, communicative and breakfast was perfect. Check out the shops which have high quality pieces of clothing, perfume and interior decorations.
Amazing design and great breakfast as well as personal attention
Quite loud at night
Great room and nice boutique rooms on the first level. Wonderful staff.
I was aware of the noise coming from the near by nightclub, but it was much louder than expected. Light sleepers please take note.
The location was outstanding! Meson Hildago is very tastefully decorated and there is a lot of attention to detail. We stayed in Chana and would have enjoyed an outdoor area that was had more comfortable seating. We were under the impression that there was a communal outdoor space, after all, the weather in San Miguel is so wonderful! We did have a little two top with two chairs in a walk way and we were happy to have our breakfast there in the morning. The breakfast is amazing BTW!!
Quaint, unique, wonderfully decorated Incredible customer service that made you feel like home
Loved everything
The staff is incredible, very friendly and Erika(front desk) was extremely helpful and sweet. The property is beautiful and centrally located. No issues with outside noise.
The shower was tricky, it was hard to get the temperature to be stable. The pressure was fine. Just the temperature.
The place is nicely decorated, comfortable bed, big private terrace, close to the center
Very noise! Next door is a bar/disco with very loud music until 4 - 5 am, you can't sleep ! The windows and door are not soundproof
The ac
Cancellation policy unclear… room value - very small for price and location was ok
Beautiful building with great design. Very special. Erica, the concierge, was so kind and warm. She gave us suggestions and arranged for a driver for us. We will be back!!
Beautiful design in every detail from art to etched water glasses.
Great central location but it little loud as is probably typical for all properties in central SMD
Gorgeous place—-our room looked like a spread from World of Interiors magazine. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast ( charmingly delivered in a picnic basket) contained the best croissants we’d ever eaten. The manager Erica was a gem. This place is right in the middle of town, but once you close the door, it’s quiet and calm. A truly magical place.
Erika was the best thing about the property.
The noise at night between the disco and the construction (a night) across the street was so loud we could not sleep. We moved out after one night losing what we had paid for 5 nights, but were glad for it. Yes, we should have read the negative reviews. Hopefully you are reading this one.
Exceptional location, amazing service and attention to detail! Mesón Hidalgo is the best hotel I have stayed at San Miguel de Allende, it’s a must!
We loved our stay at Méson Hidalgo so much. The Juana suite was perfect for us. We loved opening up the doors in the morning to the sunshine and sitting on the balcony to eat the delicious breakfast they dropped off each morning. It is the perfect place to slow down and just soak in the beauty of San Miguel de Allende. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it. Erika, the GM, was so helpful and wonderful to chat with as well.
No complaints. It was perfect for us.
The most beautiful place with wonderful decoration in a magic old building. Perfectly clean and we enjoyed a great breakfast, it was an amazing stay!
Breakfast was simple but delicious- pastry, yogurt, fruit, juice but no coffee. The room on the first floor is extremely hot and uncomfortable. The upper floor was a little better catching breeze. The noise level from a disco bar across the street was disturbing. The property does not have a nice seating area to have breakfast with friends. It needs a four topper with some shade.
We went in May which is hot. The rooms do not have AC and it was not a comfortable sleep. It did not have a common seating area that was comfortable. Next time I would choose a property that has its own bar, restaurant or reception area. It was a beautiful space with three rooms, but it did not live up to expectations. It was rustic, though nicely decorated. No privacy in the patio area because there are two shops on the first floor that are open to outside customers.
The staff & the owners are amazing! Erica was very helpful online as well as in-person. I love the breakfast offered. Such great variety and freshness. This hotel is a perfect refuge from the busyness of the city coupled with art, boutiques, unique shopping, and great access to the centro.
This is a common occurence in San Miguel, but there is no air conditioning. To me this wasn't an issue, but certain family members opted to stay elsewhere because of it.
