Exceptionally friendly service! LOCATION!

The Location is great, rooms are very clean and practical. In short, there is nothing wrong with the hotel, save for the value for money. I travel all the time, and I can say that this is overpriced.

The building would need a full redecoration. Apart from the library room, in between the old and new part of the building all corridors, lifts, doors, garden are to be refurbished. They are a cold ensamble of old and neutral materials. There is no soul to be a 5 star hotel.

I like everything about this hotel. Perfect location, modern building with perfect style. Very professional and friendly staff. Very good restaurant and food.

The airco didn't work. No excuses for such a price.

My wife and I spent 15 days touring Switzerland via Copenhagen the first two weeks of October 2025. Our trip started in Copenhagen and ended in Copenhagen. For the Swiss portions of our trip, we went to Zürich, Grindelwald, Zermatt, and finally Montreux. Every place was stunning, making for a great trip. In each city, we stayed at hotels that have been rated as 5 Star properties from various sites. In Zürich, we stayed at the Widder Hotel, in Grindelwald-the Hotel Belvedere (a 4 star, but really a 4.5)-it was Great!, in Zermatt- The Cervo Mountain(Last place) and finally in Montreux - the Fairmont Montreux(just ok) Both times in Copenhagen we stayed at the Nimb Hotel. The best by the way!! I provide this to give context for my review about The Widder compared to this peer group of highly rated hotels. We ranked the Widder 3rd within this group. We stayed 2 nights. Location: 5 out of 5. The hotel itself is in the Old Town section of Zurich with plenty of shops and restaurants. The location was great, a good jumping point for touring Zurich. Room: 3.75 out of 5. The rooms in this hotel are unique and ours was good with exposed beams and was a decent size. It overlooked the street, which was nice. It was dark though even with the curtains open. The hotel provided a nice welcome gift which we appreciated. The bathroom was OK, compared to the other hotels, not the best. The shower has one of those half glass walls rather than being fully enclosed. Not a fan, as things can get a bit messy if you take showers. Not sure why they are still around in many of the hotels because it must be a pain for housekeeping. Fitness Center: 2 out of 5 I work out each day and was underwhelmed by the Fitness Center. Limited free weights and funky (useless) multi muscle group exercise machines that utilize rubber band like mechanisms Service and Staff: The door people and front desk welcoming and friendly. 5 out of 5. Breakfast: 5 out of 5. Was in two charming rooms. The staff were friendly and attentive. There was a nice collection of pastries, fruit etc. and good menu offerings. Concierge: 3 out of 5 The concierge was just ok. Each time we engaged with the concierge, 2 different people at 2 different times. They seemed distracted and rushed as if we were bothering them. They were simple requests. One of the suggestions sent us on a wild goose chase to the train station. So that was annoying. Restaurant: 1 out of 5 After a morning touring the city, we came back to the hotel and went into the restaurant, entering the restaurant via hotel lobby, to see if we could get a table and grab a bite. The restaurant was busy. The host Brusquely said to us “I won't be able to seat you for an hour outside” ….No greeting, no, how may help you etc. He then saw I had a room key and said” I’ll have the receptionist call you” then walked off. How are they going to call if they don’t know who to call? We didn’t even want to sit outside (it looked like rain btw) but he didn’t ask or care. We just looked at each other and said what that was about. Surprisingly rude. Bar: 5 out of 5. We went back into the lobby and decided to try the bar. Good call. The Service was great and the food was tasty. We had a nice seat along the window where we could watch the people caught in the rain ;-). The bar seemed to be the place to be at night as well. We dined elsewhere after that and never went back to the restaurant. Final rating 3.5 out of 5. Conclusion: The location was great and the room was good, but we just didn’t get the kind of personal touch from the Widder that we received at the other top hotels we stayed at on this trip and for that matter on other trips. That was disappointing. When back in Zurich we will probably try another Hotel.

Amazing location, beautiful facilities, loved the charm of the buildings and its history. I was expecting something more “antique” given its history, but everything was large and modern and up to date! Service and staff are beyond helpful and kind!

Pricey, but so is everything in Zurich. But this is worth it.

We had a small window in Zurich before heading off to Zermatt, a friend recommended the Widder and it was wonderful! From the moment we walked in the staff were so warm and welcoming; rooms are large, fabulous bathrooms, magical touches in every room. Really fun! The staff really take the level of stay to the next level, from the old world ambiance of the happening bar to the breakfast bonanza. We will return to the Widder again!

It is my 48th visit to this unique hotel. It speaks of itself as to my level of satisfaction. Me and my children consider it as our home in Zurich.

Everything was excellent for me

For me the hotel was very odd. If you like historical details you may love this. It’s all shiny and marble and steel and a glass elevator and sort of maybe was cool thirty years ago mixed up with stone floors in your room and a bathroom from maybe twenty years ago. They forgot to do my turndown services the reception lady did seem upset when I told her but it was done with then. They give you a nice welcome with a hot towel and a tea and a small goodbye git. The staff were all very nice and service good. No noise, the hotel is on a cute street just behind the Main Street and a good location close to the train station. I think some people would love this hotel.

By far the best quality and most aesthetic hotel experience in Zurich. Staff, rooms, restaurants and bars are all 5star+++.

The hotel was great and I certainly would stay there again. The staff in general, the room, the cleanliness, the facilities, the restaurant and specially the location was all amazing. I definitely recommend it!

The only thing that I found a little rude was the concierge who was not so friendly upon my requests. However all the other staff and the hotel itself it was all great!

The hotel is a combination of rustic/modern elegance. They made our 2 days in Zurich easy to manage. The hotel is centrally located and everyone was accommodating, friendly and always available for any request or arrangement that I needed help with. I was traveling with my two teen kids and felt very well taken care of. The breakfast was quiet and delicious. We did not have dinner there only because we had pre arranged dining plans before we arrived, however I’m looking forward to trying dinner on our next trip. I would stay at The Widder any time I’m in Zurich visiting from NYC.

The Widder Hotel is located within the high-end shopping district of Zurich. Just step outside and you are in shopping heaven. It is also a short 7 minute walk to the main train station making it a great choice if you plan on using the train system to travel to other areas of Switzerland and beyond. It is also a block away from many bus stops which is another great way to get around Zurich. The hotel is a boutique and small in nature but there is a seating when you come in and a lounge off the entrance. The rooms themselves are cozy but spacious enough. Views are of the City and in some cases, you can see some mountain views in the distance. The hotel staff is extremely attentive and the concierge available day and night to assist with your every trip detail.

I had a fantastic time at the hotel! We stayed in the penthouse, and it was in excellent condition and had a great location. The restaurant and bar were both top-notch, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. A big thank you to the wonderful staff and management at Widder for their hospitality!

I travel the world and this is one of the best hotels I ever stay at. It never failed. Welcoming reception, strategic location, beautiful building, tasteful rooms. A treat.

We booked the family suite and it's one of the best rooms we've stayed in as a family of 4. The children's area was separate which is always nice! Staff show you up to your room and this was a lovely personal touch while they explain the hotel services. Breakfast was wonderful, great food and beautiful service by all staff. We would love to return and stay longer. Location of the hotel is wonderful. Lots of little lounge areas and garden to sit in. The bar was very popular w locals too and had live piano the night we were there.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Widder Hotel and cannot say enough good things about this place. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such thoughtful touches - a beautiful welcome spread in our room complete with complimentary wine and desserts, plus an elegant orchid. It set the tone for what would be an exceptional stay. The Widder Bar is hands down the coolest, most fun spot we've experienced. The historical setting combined with incredible atmosphere made it unforgettable - the bar team even shared the rich history of the space with us, which made the experience even more special. The beautifully crafted cocktails and attentive service were perfection. We loved every minute and every person behind that bar. The outdoor garden bar area is adorable, featuring vintage ski gondolas decorated with wooden skis, sleds, and evergreens that you can reserve for fondue - such a quintessentially Swiss experience. Breakfast was equally impressive. Even though we arrived close to closing time, the staff never made us feel rushed. They gave us the full experience with warm, gracious service from start to finish. Every single staff member we encountered was amazing and so accommodating. The hospitality here is truly exceptional - you can tell everyone genuinely cares about creating a memorable experience for their guests. The location on Augustiner-Gasse in Zurich's Old Town is perfect, and the hotel beautifully blends historic charm with modern luxury. We can't recommend the Widder Hotel highly enough. This is exactly what luxury hospitality should feel like.

Very clean and thoughtfully decorated

No response from staff on a twice made request and a low level of care/apology that the simple request was not carried out.

The service was exceptional, as was the breakfast and everything at the hotel. They were very helpful with our daughter's requests during breakfast and in assisting us with restaurant reservations. They even provided a pillow menu to accommodate different preferences. We enjoyed our stay!

Сервис в номере плохой. Каждый вечер в районе 21.00-22.00 пытался навязчиво зайти персонал, для типа уборки. Это очень неудобно и сильно беспокоило. Не предоставили номер который был заказан. Дали другой, неудобный и было холодно. Нет вентиляции в номере. Ужасная поездка, хотя раньше бывал в этом отеле и было лучше. Room service! Принесли несвежую нарезку ветчину и колбасу. Ужасно!

3 nights at very historic hotel. Location was fantastic. Staff were amazing. I had a special request that needed multiple steps and the concierge(s) were wonderfully helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a central and reasonably priced hotel. Worth more than what we paid.

Die TV. Es ist schwer nachzuvollziehen, dass in einem Hotel in der Schweiz nur gerade ein Schweizer Sender und dann noch SRF Info aufgeschaltet ist. Kurz nach Mitternacht verabschiedete sich das Fernsehen komplett! In einem fünf Sterne Hotel kann man zudem eine Sound-Bar erwarten.

The widder delivered on its expectations. Very interesting building that the rooms Meander through. Staff extremely well trained, and friendly . Extremely expensive, but that is life in Zürich.
