The bed was incredibly hard, and there was only one sheet for cover. By the time I asked for a mattress pad and a comforter, I had already missed the window of the chambermaids so it was two days before I could get an added cushion and comforter. Once received, the bed was much more comfortable. All other aspects of my stay was fantastic. The facility was exceptional, and the service was exceptional. I will definitely recommend Hotel Simius Playa.
Excellent service. Great beach.

Stuff was amazing, room was very nice, great hotel overall!
The sun-beds at the private hotel beach were way too expensive.

Lovely hotel at the beach, very cosy with comfy and classy rooms, friendly staff and nice pool. We came back after 15 years and it has gotten even better.

Hotel Simius Playa — Villasimius, Sardinia ⭐ 1 out of 5 I am an American traveler. I typically stay at Fairmont and Ritz Carlton properties. I want other travelers to know what awaits them at Hotel Simius Playa before they book. The problems began before we even arrived. We booked and paid for a suite through the hotel's website. Nearly a full day later, we were informed the suite was not available. By that point, our flights from the United States had already been booked and our family members traveling from Sweden had made their arrangements as well. We were a group of 8, with our American family of 4, including two small children, and our Swedish family of 4. The suite was chosen specifically so we could stay together. As a resolution, the hotel offered two rooms complimentary for our stay. We accepted. I want to be clear: we are not freeloaders. Between our American family of 4 spending over $2,000 on food, drinks, and services during our stay, and our Swedish family of 4 who paid full price for their suite, this hotel received a significant amount of money from our travel group. The complimentary rooms were the hotel's remedy for their own booking failure, not a favor we requested. Upon check in, the discomfort began immediately. Our two families had planned to swap rooms upon arrival so that our American family with two small children could have the suite, while our Swedish family with older children took the two separate rooms. Staff immediately blocked this and made a point of reminding us, in front of others, that our rooms were complimentary and non-negotiable. We understand there may be company policy or even local law that prevented the room swap. Still, there was no reason to handle it the way they did. Policy can be communicated with dignity. The manner in which this was communicated was humiliating. Shortly after, a woman who appeared to hold a management role on the property and was present almost every day positioned herself near our family's rooms. She never once greeted us or smiled at us for the duration of our stay. She watched us with a cold, forced composure. The message was clear. When our children, exhausted from a transatlantic flight and a long car ride, went to enjoy the pool, we were informed of specific operating hours and told that a guest had complained. This was not communicated at check in. It was delivered in a manner that made us feel like an imposition. Almost every interaction with staff was terse, rushed, and unwelcoming. We made every effort to eat off property to avoid the discomfort, yet even the on-site dinner reservation process became an ordeal. After being told a specific time was available, we arrived on time only to be told to wait. By 21:30 our reservation had still not been honored. As a group of 8 with small children, we were simply turned away. From what we could observe, we had been misled. At breakfast, the head of the restaurant, the same person who had mishandled our dinner reservation, scolded me in front of other guests for nearly burning my bread in the toaster. His team followed his lead. What should have been the one bright spot of our stay, as the breakfast buffet food quality was genuinely good, was made uncomfortable every single morning. For travelers planning ahead, there are several fees this hotel does not make clear at the time of booking. Sun beds at the beach are priced by section. Front row positions are significantly more expensive, while the back rows run around 40 euros. Prices also rise in August. Additionally, you will be charged for washing your pool and beach towels. These are things every guest deserves to know upfront. Finally, I must address what we observed throughout the property. There were numerous figurines of monkeys dressed in butler attire, and several larger statues depicting Black people dressed in what appeared to be servant clothing. We are a multiracial family who actively teaches our children antiracism values. We noticed. This imagery has a well documented and painful racial history. It is not neutral decor. It added a layer of discomfort that went far beyond poor service and is something no family should encounter at a hospitality property in 2026. We were so relieved to check out. If we had not been so far from Cagliari and traveling with small children, we would have left early. I will never return to this property. The only hospitality we encountered in the vicinity came from the small restaurant across the street, which offered more warmth in a single interaction than this hotel managed across our entire stay. Travelers deserve to know what they may encounter here. I am sharing this so you can make an informed decision.
Fantastic hotel right next to the beach. Received a warm welcome at reception and a 'welcome cocktail - bonus! The building has an old-world, charm about it, yet still very classy! The room was quiet. spacious, with a comfortable bed. The staff were extremely attentive - a delight! Breakfast was amazing - a full selection to choose from, with the option of dining outside.
Travelling for four weeks, we each had a large suitcase. Our room was on the second floor - and there are no elevators. Carrying suitcases up the many stairs was an effort. I guess the wide staircases are part of the charm of the hotel!
been a few times home from home
La amabilidad del personal Impecable el restaurante
Everything, just awesome
Nothing
The hotel is very well located, on a beautiful beach with white sand and crystal clear water. It is very good for small children. The staff are very nice, especially Tonino at the restaurant who is hard working, cordinating everything very well, you can see he is a professional. He is smiling all the time and makes you feel very welcome. I also noticed how hard working is Enrico. The rooms are nice and big and they clean them every day.
Lovely chilled atmosphere, lovely gardens, super breakfast setup. Beach is just across the road where the hotel has a lovely area laid out for guests.
Tow is about a 20 minute walk. There is a local bus running on the hour but it ends at 9.30 pm.
Everything is fine as usual. Good service, which is very rare in Italy.

Insanely rude. A member of the staff on the beach was verbally (and almost phisically) aggressive with my family, including a 7 months pregnant wife. While I was going to complain to the general director, the person followed me saying “I’ve been here for 12 years, I can’t be fired even if you complain”. Completely incompatible with a “4 star luxury” hotel. Location in theory beautiful, but beach infested with algae and they don’t clean them, that is very different from other beaches in the area. Stay away.
We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Simius Playa, Great location by the sea and just 15/20 min walk to the village. Spacious room with sea view and little balcony for the sunset. Live music by the poll in the early evening. Staff is very friendly and very helpful.
The only negative point for me is to have to pay for sun loungers even though we are staying in the hotel.
Very comfortable, simple but elegant , staff courteous and knowledgeable, would highly recommend this hotel

Super hotel comfort and facilities. Hotel is actually better than its photos. Bar and restaurant have the feel of a top class hotel. Amazing beach right next to the hotel. And the town of Villasimius only a 15-minute walk away, with its great selection of shops and restaurants.
Very nice and clean hotel with very kind staff.

The half board deal was amazing four course dinner, very high level
The private beach and the beds are amazing but the is no food and drink service at the beach
Wunderbare Lage und Zimmer. Alles top!
Fabulous restaurant with delightful and knowledgeable staff

The hotel is a real surprise. What a fantastic property. The location is right on the beach, the restaurant is superb, the staff are amazing and the building has an atmosphere from a time gone by. A little “White Lotus” vibe.
Piękny widok z pokoju, palmy i wspaniałą roślinność w ogrodzie, sympatyczna obsługa, nienaganna czystość, bliskość plaży i świetne położenie. Śniadania i inne posiłki bardzo smaczne z wyśmienitym cappuchino.

Bom pequeno almoço. Muito bem decorado
Hotel muito pequeno assim como o estacionamento
Fantastic location, right next to an incredible beach. The staff is very attentive and friendly and the food is exceptional.
Our room didn’t have a balcony
I loved the stay, the suite was exceptional, loved the comfortable beds, the big bathroom and wardrobe, also the large balcony. The conditioning was adjustable. Very nice breakfast and extreamly welcoming staff.
The food at the restaurant was average, but quite expensive. So it could have been better balanced.
It was close to the beach, its own private beach, where sun beds and umbrellas were included with the room. The hotel also had free parking which was helpful. The bed was comfortable and the staff was incredibly nice. Breakfast buffet (included in my room rate) was good - not incredible - but good.
When I arrived at about 15:00/3 PM, there was no running water in the hotel. No running water. They got the water problem fixed a little after 22:00/10 PM that night. At around 21:00 I asked the manager what time the issue started and he said, "This evening" which was an outright lie. After telling him there was no running water when I arrived, he offered to comp my room. The following morning before I checked out, I said 1/2 the rate was fine. Comping my room was generous but didn't seem entirely fair to the hotel/staff.
Great property and beach. Friendly staff. Lots of amenities. Thanks to Eduardo for all his help with tour and reservations.
Staff was wonderful especially Eduardo
We have just returned from a 14-night half-board holiday at the luxurious Hotel Simius Playa and had an absolutely lovely, relaxing holiday. The location is excellent, next to a beautiful private sandy beach. The hotel was very charismatic and is the epitome of my perception of old Sardinian charm. It is very impressive and kept impeccably clean at all times. Our suite was very nicely furnished with an excellent view of the sea from our balcony and was kept pristinely clean by housekeeping. The quality and variation of food in the restaurant for breakfast was excellent and the à la carte menu in the evening was exceptional. All of the hotel staff was excellent, very friendly, professional, helpful, cheerful and always with a smile on their faces. We’d like to add a special huge thank you to all of the restaurant staff, especially Antonino, Enrico, Aimane and Simone for making our dining experience “perfetto”. We met a number of guests, who have been returning to Hotel Simius Playa for over 20 years and can understand why. We will return.
Having to pay for beach chairs. Dining staff was a bit cool.
Great room!
The staff is amazing. The hotel is beautiful with lots of amenities.
Everything
The staff were fantastic
The bed was a little uncomfortable (hard) but realise that is a very personal choice
We have stayed at this hotel previously but disconcerted by some of the negative reviews we had read prior to our stay. Happily, we found none of them to be applicable. The hotel was still smart, clean with beautifully maintained gardens. Yes, it's not an ultra modern building that could be anywhere in the world! It has character, warmth and individuality. Our room overlooking the garden and pool was large and airy. The ensuite was spacious and the shower fabulous. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and happy to assist whenever asked. Most particularly, the restaurant staff under the lead of Giovanni were exceptional in their efforts to satisfy any requests put to them by guests. I hope the hotel also retain their chef as the quality of the meals was fabulous. The beach area was well maintained and the addition of a beach bar was very handy. The location of this hotel is sublime with the beach adjacent to the gardens.

The property and service was excellent but the beach service is very expensive
It was a few short steps to the beach, the staff was incredibly kind and attentive, and the food was amazing!

We spent 4 days half board at the hotel Simius playa in mid September. We enjoyed our stay in particular the fabulous beach with turquoises water and great evening meals, with lots of choice. We had a superior double room with a sea view and small terrace which was a good size and very clean, water pressure in shower was great. The staff at the hotel were lovely, in particular the maitre d, Thomas and the tall waiter (apologies forgot his name) Cons It’s a quiet area with not much activity going on apart from shops and restaurants up in the town. We got a local bus from Cagliari arst bus station, right beside the train station to villasimius and this was fairly straightforward however the return journey was not as there was an unexpected bus strike, waiting 2 hours discover no bus for another 4 hours. Taxi was required. Cost of taxis is extortionate. Recommendation rent a car. The views along the coast road are spectacular.
Close to beach, good breakfast, very nice evening bar place. Very good restaurant. Very nice staff. Big room, modern bathroom. free beach towels. Free parking.
No iron in the rooms, extra cost for ironing.
Personale accogliente e molto professionale. Ottima la colazione
