EPIC SANA Algarve Hotel

Very easy direct access to beach. Nice pools and areas to lounge around the pool. Public areas were very well-maintained. Only meal we had at the resort was breakfast, which was very high quality and extensive. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

While our room was spacious and had all the amenities we wanted, the air conditioning did not work as well as we would have expected. As a result, the bedroom and main bath stayed humid throughout our stay.

The grounds and hotel were absolutely beautiful, clearly a 5 star hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, the pools were beautiful and the surrounding areas were well kept. All the staff were so wonderful, they really made the stay special for us.

My only issue was the bed, it was a bit too firm however, this is personal preference! I was provided with a mattress topper which definitely made a difference, I really appreciated the staff being so accommodating.

Sehr sauber nettes Personal Nähe zum Meer gut, dass man einen Liegestuhl an der Rezeption reservieren konnte. Die Restaurants waren auf einem guten Niveau. Preislich teilweise etwas zu hoch selbst für uns Schweizer die das ja gewohnt sind.

Das Buffet-Restaurant ist leider nicht gut zu wenig Auswahl und die Qualität der Speisen waren nicht gut wir waren dort nur einmal zum Essen. Das Frühstücks-Buffet war auch keine 5 Sterne wenig Auswahl da sind wir uns anderes gewohnt. Schade wir würden gerne wiederkommen, aber das ist zurzeit eher ein Killer-Kriterium.

The fact that you couldn’t get a free glass of water with your dinner is absurd. At breakfast you can get all kinds of drinks including champagne, they also deliver 2 bottles of water every day to your room, yet for dinner you have to pay for your water. We ended up bringing the water from our room to dinner

Byliśmy w tym hotelu po raz drugi. Za pierwszym razem we wrześniu 2024 było wręcz idealnie, bajecznie, epicko. Wtedy dałam 10/10. Hotel poleciłam także wielu przyjaciołom. Hotel jest cichy, elegancki, luksusowy. Duży atut to podgrzewany basen zewnętrzny. Nielimitowane ręczniki plażowe, które można wymieniać kiedy się chce to także wielki atut. Śniadania bardzo smaczne. Pokoje duże i czyste.

Niestety w tym roku widać spadek jakości. Zwłaszcza basen prosi się o remont. Odpadnięte płytki, wyskrobane czarne fugi.... W pokoju nie jest uzupełniana woda w butelkach, wcześniej ręczniki w pokoju wymieniane były dwa razy dziennie teraz już tylko raz. Obsługa choć bardzo kulturalna tak naprawdę nie była pomocna. Nie było możliwości zmiany pokoju ani przedłużenia pobytu nawet o 1 godzinę (!). Czy wrócimy? Nie wiem....

The property was really lovely - the location is beautiful. The interior of the property is wonderful. The staff were very friendly and professional - unlike a very well known nearby hotel.

The ONLY thing we didn’t like about the property was the fact that you have to pay for sunbeds on the beach and that there are no facilities on the beach (changing or toilets).

Our stay was beyond our expectations. The food was amazing, our room was spacious, the beach was one of the kind, the staff was always very helpful.

Everything was perfect, no negative feedback at all.

We stayed here on our honeymoon and it was excellent from the moment we walked in. The lobby is grand, spotless and genuinely impressive — it feels like a five star property immediately, and the rest of the stay lived up to it. Check-in was handled by a guest relations team who were professional and warm. Our room had been marked as ready, but they asked us for a little more time because they were setting up a honeymoon surprise, and pointed us to the facilities in the meantime. When we got in, there were fresh pastries, chocolates and a bottle of sparkling wine waiting. They congratulated us properly. It's a small thing, but it makes the difference. The room itself is large and immaculate, with a huge balcony, a bathtub and one of the more comfortable beds we've slept in. Housekeeping were quick and refreshed the room whenever we asked. Fresh water in the room each morning and a proper turndown service in the evening. There is a good choice of restaurants on site, including Japanese and Italian. Two pools, one of them adults-oriented with chilled music playing, and the vibe there is very relaxed. The beach is reachable directly from the hotel down a flight of steps. The staff throughout are the real strength here — genuinely five star. Overall a very good stay, and we'd happily book another EPIC SANA elsewhere.

Breakfast is the one area with room to improve. The quality is good and there is real coffee service at the table, which too many hotels have given up on — but the spread doesn't change much across a longer stay and starts to feel repetitive. The paste de nata, however, are outstanding. One criticism: spa access costs a supplement. At this price point and this standard, that should be included in the nightly rate.

Het ontbijt was zeer goed, al was het aanbod aan brood eerder beperkt in vergelijking met alle andere producten. De locatie was zeer goed, dicht bij het strand en verschillende restaurants in de buurt. Ondanks de vele toeristen een heel rustig verblijf gehad.

De prijs/kwaliteit van het eten in het hotel was naar mijn mening te duur.

Restaurant staff were very accomodating to our dietary requirements, being eggless vegetarians with a few allergies. They were able to make us any food we requested, and the breakfast buffet was clearly labelled with the allergens.

We had the Duplex suite, which has 2 floors- the ground floor and lower ground floor. Despite the room being way bigger than expected, there was a weird damp smell prominent when we went to the lower ground floor. It wasn't too strong, but it was noticeable when we first entered.

Most amazing hotel. It is 5 star through and through. The team that work here are exceptional, so kind and can’t do enough for you. The hotel is welcoming, with 4 swimming pools, we are a couple in our 30’s and stayed mostly around the adult pool which had a calm and chilled atmosphere, with a DJ late afternoon on the weekend and Tuesday. Loads of options of sun loungers including day beds always available. Cocktails and bar snacks to your lounger! The room was beautiful, and cleaned daily to a high standard. The toilets around the hotel were super clean. We slept amazingly well, no noise and pitch dark room at night. Everyday we were given water bottles and chocolates to the room, such a lovely touch. The hotel has the buffet restaurant which serves breakfast and dinner, all food was brilliant. We loved the omelette station for breakfast. There’s a choice of other restaurants at the hotel which you pay for (some are discounted) we went to Lima Italian and it was incredible service and food was gorgeous. We absolutely LOVED the Bluum bar in the evenings. The team here are so wonderful, kind and charming. It really made our holiday. They had live music every night which we really enjoyed, mostly acoustic covers which made for a chilled evening atmosphere. The beach is a 2 min walk away and about 20 mins Uber to old town. Overall we had an incredible time and would definitely love to come back again. 100% recommend.

We’ve just returned from a 7 night stay at Epic Sana and it was a truly magnificent stay, worthy of its 5 star reputation. The hotel itself is beautiful, with three excellent pools, 5 restaurants and a bar. It is also a stone’s throw away from a beautiful, if busy, beach with a dramatic walk down through the cliffs adding to the experience. We dined in three restaurants; the main buffet one (Abyad), Lima (Italian) and Uddo (Japanese). As we were in one of the family suites we also had access to Lima during the day for breakfast and lunch, where it doubles up as another buffet option for those mealtimes. The food across the board was seriously good - the buffet had a great range of fresh, local produce and on two nights there were special themes - a Portuguese night and a Ocean night where there were additional dishes that were delicious. For special nights though, the food available in Lima and Uddo are highly recommended. What really makes it 5 stars though is the level of service from the staff. Jose in Lima at breakfast and lunch couldn’t have done more to make our group of 6 feel accommodated, he’s a real credit to the hotel. Then in the evenings Beatriz, Patricia, Rafaela and Diego in Lima were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. In Uddo, Eduardo gave excellent wine recommendations, answered all our questions and made our meals even more enjoyable as a result. The team around the main pool were super attentive too and on some days there was a DJ around the pool that added to a great atmosphere. Finally, I also used the spa on one day, having a 75 minute treatment that was perfect - again, the staff all being really friendly and skilled. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone - it’s great for families, has a kids club with a weekly schedule of different activities to suit all kinds of kids (craft, sport, cooking, yoga, kids DJ sets etc) but also doesn’t feel chaotic or overloaded like other, bigger resorts do. Easiest 5 stars ever, we hope to be back next year.

Really had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay in this top class Hotel. On arrival we were courteously greeted by the concierge and this set the tone from such a friendly , caring and attentive staff. Rooms were very luxurious , comfortable and spacious and immaculately cleaned and serviced every day. Rooftop pool a fantastic amenity and had a very fair system of beds in operation. Spa another top class amenity and never packed and a haven of relaxation. Location is ideal but a very hilly walk upto hotel so I would recommend Uber which averaged about 5-7 Euros a trip. Only downside was the prices of alcohol which were very expensive in contrast to many other restaurants i frequented. If I ever return to the beautiful city of Lisbon i would definitely stay in the hotel again.

Preis-Leistung stimmt nicht ganz. Essen/ Getränke vor Ort für mittelmäßige Qualität sehr teuer. Poolbereich und Zimmer sauber, aber ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen.

The beach access made the stay. The property sits above a great beach however you need to book beach loungers in advance.

The resort is dated and the gymnasium is poorly planned and maintained. Regular guests use the gym and often by 8am there are no fresh towels and no cold water available. The layout also doesn’t not enable guests to use a small space to train as there is large multistation in the middle of the floor hindering effective use of space. Resort should consider providing chilled bottles of water given the high number of users.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. Everything was very clean and well maintained, the location close to the beach is perfect, and the entire team was always exceptionally friendly, attentive, and accommodating. We would especially like to highlight the personal attention given to each guest. At this point, a heartfelt thank you to the hotel for the wonderful surprise for our anniversary – it was such a thoughtful gesture and we truly appreciated it! A big thank you also goes to the entire service team and all the waiters for their consistently warm, attentive, and friendly service. A very special thank you goes to Felipe, whose exceptionally friendly and welcoming manner made our stay even more enjoyable. We felt comfortable and genuinely welcome from the very first day until the last and would happily return anytime. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so wonderful!

Great breakfast and Deck restaurant food and very effective staff in both restaurants. Very nice territory, pine trees, nice pool areas, but adult's pool is too close to the kids' one.

- It was not qualified for 5* hotel as many elements were missing in service at reception - No transparency about the beach being public and at extra cost of min 50 Eur that needs reservations - Always had a feeling that it was unreasonably over priced, for everything - kids's soft drinks 7 Eur, coffee 6 EUR

EPIC SANA Algarve is a very large hotel with genuinely impressive facilities. The property itself is beautiful, well maintained and offers many of the amenities one would expect from a five-star resort. Unfortunately, the weakest part of our stay was also the one I consider most important in a hotel of this category: hospitality. The service often felt procedural rather than naturally attentive, and this became particularly apparent during our dinner at UDDO. We spent over €200 on dinner and left extremely disappointed with the way the situation was handled by the staff. When we raised an issue with one of the dishes, one member of staff did nothing about it, while another told us he would speak to the chef and never returned to us. For the remainder of the evening, we felt actively avoided rather than looked after. Service throughout the dinner was slow and inattentive. At one point, my empty drink was removed without anyone asking whether I would like another. More importantly, when something went wrong, the response felt defensive and, at times, simply rude. This is not the level of service I expect from a five-star hotel, particularly at this price point. And ultimately, that is what defines my overall impression of EPIC SANA Algarve. Beautiful facilities are important, but luxury hospitality is about much more than the physical product. It is about how guests are treated, particularly when something doesn’t go perfectly. Having experienced other five-star hotels in the Algarve, the difference in hospitality standards is noticeable. For that reason, despite the quality of the property itself, I cannot recommend EPIC SANA Algarve to friends or family, and I would not choose to return.

An ageing hotel that is living on its past reputation and needs refurbishment. The staff is friendly and does their best to make up for the shortcomings. We have stayed here three times, but it is now time to move on.

Epic Sana ist ein absolutes Top-Hotel. Das hat seinen Preis. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das wirklich wundervolle Team, freundlich, bemüht, kompetent und hilfsbereit. Wirklich unschlagbar, es wird einem jeder Wunsch von den Augen abgelesen. Extrem sauber, sehr engagiertes Serviceteam. Das Hotel ist wunderschön, von der Einrichtung, über die Essensbereiche, bis zu der parkähnlichen Anlage. Sehr schöne Poolanlagen mit Service. Der Weg zum Strand ist ein Stückchen, aber landschaftlich einmalig, durch die Klippen. Der Strand ist herrlich, endlos lang. Das Hotel verfügt über eigene, sehr komfortable Strandliegen. Das Frühstück lässt keine Wünsche offen, sehr reichhaltig und abwechslungsreich. Das Meer ist hier - zumindest heuer - noch nicht von diesen furchtbaren Algen verseucht und war wunderbar. Wir hatten einen absolut wunderbaren Aufenthalt.

Die Strandliegen sind in Anbetracht des Hotelpreises doch noch einmal recht saftig im Preis. Dafür aber auch verfügbar. Am Strand gibt es weder WC, noch Duschen. Man sollte es also nicht eilig bekommen, der Rückweg ist steil und relativ lang. Am meisten gestört haben uns die furchtbaren PVC-Dielen rund um alle Pools. In der Sonne werden die so heiß, dass es einem die Fuß-Sohlen wegschmilzt. Nie ohne Schuhe gehen! Außerdem geht dieser Industriemüll komplett aus dem Leim. Hier wären Steine, oder Holzdielen deutlich besser und passender zum ansonsten perfekten Ambiente des Epic Sana.

Me gustó prácticamente todo. Aunque era un poco caro. Las dos cenas que hicimos en el hotel fueron caras y por precio inferior cenamos mejor fuera en buenos restaurantes

Ik had mijn partner en mijn ouders mee (+/- 80 jaar) en mijn zoons van 16-18. Het personeel is ontzettend vriendelijk, lief en behulpzaam. Ook genoeg medewerkers overal, je hoeft niemand te zoeken of te wachten. De suites hebben twee badkamers en zijn heel ruim opgezet. Groot balkon, grote woon- en slaapkamer. Fijne gordijnen die helemaal afsluiten. Ontbijt goed geregeld, ruime zaal binnen en buiten. Toen wij er waren was het hotel volgeboekt, maar je had niet het idee dat het zo druk was. Alles is ruim opgezet. Veel zwembaden. Airco's werken goed in de kamers. Gezellige bar. Prachtig park. Het voelt niet massaal. Toen wij er waren veel gezinnen met kleine kinderen, wat het allemaal ook gezellig en levendiger maakt maar toch vind je rust. Bijzonder. Italiaans restaurant Lima was uitstekend, heel vriendelijk en lief personeel. Dat geldt ook voor het Japanse restaurant Uddo. Voor tennis kun je banen/rackets huren aan de overkant van het resort 5 minuten lopen. Er is daar ook een voetbalveld en een atletiek baan. Dit is meer mijn eigen ding, maar de badkamers hebben glazen deuren en schuifdeuren (dus geen badkamer met een slot). De schuifdeuren bij mijn ouders' suite sloten niet helemaal af. Bij de kamer van mijn zoons was de badkamer redelijk 'doorzichtig'. Misschien handig om te weten. Het kitwerk in de douche is niet goed dus het water loopt alle kanten op. Het strand is prachtig, maar je loopt er niet 'even' heen. Ben je slecht ter been of met kleine kinderen is het helemaal wel een tocht. Dat is niet perse inherent aan Epic Sana, dat hebben de meeste resorts in de Algarve heb ik mij laten vertellen (achteraf). Als je er eenmaal bent: prachtig. (Ik zet dit maar hier neer want ik vind niet dat ze een negatieve recensie verdienen als het 'persoonlijk' is.)

Dit is echt een 5-sterren hotel. Heel vriendelijke medewerkers, ideaal gelegen, super faciliteiten! We gaan zeker terug!

Piscine ouverte 24/24h. Plusieurs piscines + accès plage pas loin. Serviettes piscine et plages disponibles à plusieurs endroits. Plusieurs restaurants. Excursions programmables avec le personne de l'hôtel.

Les serveurs débarrassent trop vite les assiettes, dans les buffets, aux tables des clients. C'est parfois dérangeant, on dirait qu'ils essaient de trop gagner du temps. Dans les piscines, 2 piscines ou le socle au pied bougeait, car pas fixé et dessous un trou de 20 cm. Demandent parfois du cash pour régler des excursions. Certains ingrédients laissaient à désirer au buffet pour un 5*: miel mélangé d'Ukraine et d'ailleurs par exemple, et peu de choix dans le buffet Lima le matin. Beaucoup mieux au buffet Abyad.

w stosunku do ceny za hotel lezaki na wydzielonej plazy hotelu powinny byc w cenie natomiast za wszystko trzeba bylo placic dodatkowo. Lezak z parasolem Eur 50 za dzien a loza Eur 120. Pierwszy raz spotkalismy sie z taka sytuacja. Rowniez napoje byly w bardzo zawyzonej cenie. Kawaleczek dalej i lezaki kosztowaly Eur 21 za dzien z parasolem. Hotel nie powinien za lezaki pobierac dodatkowej oplaty!!!!

From the moment you arrive in reception you have the feeling this is proper five star (by Portugal and Spain standards). Service throughout the resort is excellent and the cleaners are in your room while at breakfast and there’s a turn down service in early evening - all great. Breakfasts were of a high standard but the queue for eggs was too long at busy times. Dining options were also good if a little pricey. We also enjoyed the day bed / cabana on the beach at a price of EUR120 per day. The main reason for not giving five out of five is a really average main pool area that almost feels three star by comparison. The designers have sprayed cheap plastic decking all over the area and it just feels out of place versus the rest of the hotel. The pool itself is also average without any bells or whistles. Would we return? Probably but at this price point we might try other five stars in the area first.

The beach access and views are breathtaking. There is great food and plenty of restaurant options to choose from. Great for families. Kids enjoyed the pools and the beach a lot.

The lack of sunbeds around the pool/on the beach - definitely need more there aren't enough to go round. The bathroom was rather 'open plan' to the bedroom with sliding frosted glass panels.

The only positive was the room for 3 was very big. The buffet however was very good for breakfast and lunch.

NOT A 5 STAR RESORT!! I frequently travel to fine hotels and this is definitly not a 5 star resort, mostly due to the staff. No one greeted us at the entrance and no welcome drink or cool towel. The female conceirges all had unhappy faces on and were barely approachable. The beds in the suite were not that of a 5 star hotel. nor the pillows or linens. The only positive was the room for 3 was very big. Also this is family friendly resort not adults only. Yoga instructor basically taught a stretch class not yoga. The buffet however was very good for breakfast and lunch. No water view anywhere! have to walk far and to public beach area and PAY for your lounge chair. Skip staying at this resort.

Não ter acesso a toldos, aparentemente todos reservados embora estivessem vazios, tivemos de comprar um guarda sol, o que não é de esperar dum 5 estrelas. Música constante na zona da piscina (quem vai para este hotel quer descansar, não estar sujeito às escolhas do hotel).

Największym atutem jest położenie hotelu obok pięknej, otoczonej klifami plaży. Personel bardzo miły i pomocny. Bardzo dobre w bufecie, we włoskiej restauracji przepyszne

Pobyt v hoteli prekonal moje očakávania (úplný relax a chill) - výborná poloha, služby, vybavenie, prostredie, personál, bazény, jedlo a samozrejme pláž Falésia!!! Hotel má jednu z najpríjemnejších recepcií aké som kedy v hoteli navštívil. Je zrejmé, že nehnuteľnosť nie je novopostavená, avšak môžem konštatovať, že personál sa príkladne stará o celý komplex a je vidno, že všetko postupne upgradujú. Určite je stále sa v čom zlepšovať, ale pobytom tu určite neurobíte chybu a ja sa 100 % ešte vrátim. Hotelu prajem veľa spokojných klientov a odporúčam pokračovať v nastavenom trende inovácií.

Bathrooms in bedrooms are glass boxes. No privacy. A let down for me.

The hotel was perfect. On checking in we were given an automatic upgrade on rooms. The room itself overlooked the pool and was modem, quiet , clean and comfortable. We had an issue with the TV and straight away were offered another upgrade free of charge to apologise. We declined as we were there for only one night so the hotel then offered us a free dinner at the buffet onsite, which itself is €50 pp. I cannot fault the customer service of the hotel. The staff are attentive and extremely welcoming. There are little touches that make this hotel a five star, water given on arrival, fresh flowers given in arrival, valet parking so no need to worry about luggage. The pool area was clean and again very pleasant. There is waiter service to your subbed using an app. The buffer in the evening was very enjoyable, freshly cooked meat on request, a fabulous salad bar and a fine selection of deserts. I recommend this hotel if you require a hotel of high standards in a quiet area away from hustle and bustle of the more popular resorts.

I normally don’t write reviews but I can’t rave enough about this hotel. We have travelled with our family (two kids now aged 12 and 15) to many places and 5 star/luxury hotels and this is by far one of our favourites. The location is fantastic with the beautiful beach just next door, and since the beach was so nice we didn’t feel the need to visit other beaches but stayed at the hotel. The hotel itself manages to combine luxury but also coziness which makes for a very familiar and relaxed atmosphere. The staff were amazing, very attentive (remembering the room number after the first order) and kept all spaces spotless and fresh. Food was also great although we didn’t try the upper end restaurants but kept to the bar and buffet menus, but they very muck lived up to and exceeded our expectations. Will definitely come back!

The food and drink options delivered to the rented chairs and sun beds. Shortage of drinks and when drinks were ordered it didn’t arrive from the restaurant .

Extrem freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal. Kleine Aufmerksamkeiten, die den Aufenthalt besonders machen. Blumen und Getränk zum Empfang, Gute-Nachtdienst, Wein 🍷 und Geschenk 🎁 auf dem Zimmer, Erfrischung wenn man vom Strand kommt und eine Einladung zum Portwein am letzten Abend. Das Essen der Halbpension war super. Wir brauchten kein Spezialitätenrestaurant on top.

Zu wenige Sonnenschirme für die Anzahl der Liegen.

We love coming to this hotel every year. Staff are amazing & nothing is too much trouble. They are all friendly & welcoming. Rooms are so comfortable & stylish. We were half board & found food fabulous. Always lots of choice but chefs on hand if you fancy something not on menu. Tho location is also perfect for beach lovers like us. The most gorgeous beach just minutes away. I would highly recommend Epic Sana Algarve 🥰

the beach access and the area on the path, the AC was broken and we did receive an upgrade so that was nice of them but the new rooms air flow was also not optimal. There was Miguel in guest relations who proactively reached out about activities etc, so that was a nice touch. Have cash though because they only do cash payments.

room quality, super old, property was super loud with kids, not modern, probably was fancy in the early 2000s. Kind of cheap overall. Just felt like a ton of cruise type people at a hotel or resort. I definitely would not call it a 5 star resort or hotel.

We stayed here for 9 nights in June and overall it is a really nice hotel. The beach is fantastic, the staff are generally great, and the outside spaces and planting lovely. There are just a few points which make it land short of 5 star for me, which on the whole could be easily remedied: - the hotel leans towards a corporate feel inside, both in the reception and rooms and could benefit from some soft touches (such as fresh flower arrangement in reception for example) - the cooked elements of the breakfast buffet are a bit lacking. The hash browns are dry/stale, bacon needs a bit more cooking, and sausages aren’t well suited to breakfast (more like chorizo) - you have to pay extra for the sunloungers on the beach and it is very expensive (there is a theme with this in that you have to pay extra for lots of other things too like sauna / padel - I understand the spa is small but for these things it would be good if each guest had one credit to book on) - whilst the buffet is brilliant and good value, the Italian and Japanese restaurant were incredibly overpriced for what it was. There are Italian restaurants around the corner from the hotel which charge half and the food was actually better. - the cocktails are beautiful but need more alcohol, they taste of fruit juice - if you have a fussy child you may struggle at the buffet as there is usually only one obvious option for kids like turkey and chips - the pools are chic and loungers nice but a bit boring, I don’t know why they never put the fountains on! The adult only pool is unheated and freezing which may trouble some. It would also be good if staff would sometimes come round to take drinks orders which is typical at 5* rather than always going up to the bar. Overall it is a very nice hotel but would be excellent if those points were addressed

Hotel was beautiful with spacious rooms and stunning pine forest area surrounding it. However without a doubt the service was the highlight - the staff are consistently helpful, attentive and do everything with a smile. A special mention to Athar, Anish, Everton and Ardya who were all excellent throughout our stay. The staff are what justify the 5 star rating of the hotel.

O quarto é excelente, tanto no tamanho quanto nas amenidades. Ter garagem coberta é um diferencial. O acesso a praia é por meio de uma escada mas muito bem estruturada e fácil de subir e descer. Recomendo!

Não ter serviço na praia incluido na diária é ruim pra quem frequenta a praia algumas horas. O café da manhã é excelente, mas podia ter suco de laranja natural.
