Good location, has parking, and breakfast was great. Loved that they had a fan in the rooms. Generally speaking, we had a great time. Staff are friendly and accommodating, and helped us extend our stay for a late check out at a great price.

The staff aren't quick to help, but they are very friendly and accommodating. They don't have fantastic vegan / vegetarian options, but its a small pub, thats expected.

Freundliches Personal, sehr gutes Frühstück mit großer Auswahl, sehr schön angerichtet, Pub mit großer Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken, immer sehr gut besucht, deshalb unbedingt reservieren! Das Zimmer und das Bad waren klein, sauber, es gab die Möglichkeit im Zimmer Tee/Kaffee/Hot Chocolate zuzubereiten.

Das Waschbecken im Bad war für Zwerge, sehr klein und tief angebracht 😂

Les serveurs au restaurant et au petit déjeuner étaient très sympathiques. En revanch à l'arrivée, la personne n'a pas été très accueillante, parlait très vite car servait également au resto et on voyait bien qu'elle voulait vite se débarrasser de nous.

Bad war recht klein

Great location, the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The food in the pub was excellent. Friday night entertainment was great too.

No fridge in our room. Seems to be a normal thing though.

The welcome, I was wet, cold and so tired when the host offered to carry my bag up the stairs I was extremely grateful. The man serving breakfast was jolly along with the waitress serving evening meals, always helps.

The room needed a lick of paint but it was so lovely and warm so that was really a small niggle.

Would highly recommend. Very friendly and helpful. The food was great, very tasty good quality and good GF choice. The room was very clean,comfy the quality of the bedding was top rated. Very good tea and drinks choice. The room was decorated tastfully and great calm colours.

Beautiful accommodations with friendly staff! Super convenient location in the heart of Aviemore. This was one of the best places we stayed in Scotland and would absolutely book again. Great value.

It was a little loud from the pub below, and we could hear our neighbors a little bit through the wall. Typical for older buildings and didn't ultimately impact our sleep too much.

Rooms where very clean and well set out and the food is amazing good value for money and the service i received at breakfast was top notch the gentleman engaged well and took care of all requirements

The gentleman who served breakfast was a delight - engaging, efficient and a real asset to the property.

Evening dinner service on both nights we stayed - half the menu was unavailable and despite having pre-booked a table we were told they couldn’t take our food order for a considerable time past our booked slot. After eventually ordering, the food took a long time to arrive and offers of bread and water to “keep us going” never materialised. An appreciated reduction was made to our bill on the second evening however we would not choose to eat here again. Staff were pleasant but vastly overwhelmed by demand.

Wir hatten das erste Zimmer gleich neben dem Eingang (OG), wo der Geräuschpegel doch eher etwas höher war. Jeder vorbeigehende Gast und jede Bedienung der Türe war gut hörbar

Accueil très chaleureux, cet établissement a été notre première étape sur la route vers le nord des Highlands. Chambre confortable, literie très confortable, rapport qualité prix au top. Dîner sur place délicieux, généreux et personnel très professionnel. Et le petit-déjeuner, compris dans le prix de la chambre, copieux et délicieux, servi avec beaucoup de gentillesse. Tout était parfait !

El lugar es perfecto para visitar el parque natural, desde ahí salen varias rutas de diferentes niveles e intensidad. En cuanto a la habitación en si, perfecta para pasar una noche como fue nuestro caso , limpia y cómoda. En el bar música en directo que a las 23 en punto terminó,un pub con un ambiente muy bueno. Por último, el desayuno espectacular, puedes pedir lo que quieras de la carta e incluso repetir, el chico que nos atendió fue súper amable.

The rooms although a little small had everything we needed and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were all excellent and you couldn’t fault the service. It was great to be able to walk downstairs to eat and drink and the food was great.Close shops etc.

Water pressure in showers a bit low but just took a little longer to wash hair- not really a problem

Le petit déjeuner et la gentillesse du serveur qui nous a accueillis ce matin, la chambre avec de quoi faire un thé ou café et la possibilité de dîner sur place.

Lors du diner, notre commande a d'abord été oubliée, puis une boisson qu'il a fallu réclamer. Une autre qui n'avait pas pu être servie figurait sur la facture (retirée immédiatement à notre demande) et le paiement par carte a été très difficile. La steak pie n'en était pas vraiment une, idem pour le cheese cake. Le pommeau de douche pas très facile à utiliser.

Aviemore is a great connection point for the hikes in Cairngorms. Staff is nice, the kitchen is ok, decent breakfast.

Unfortunately, since the rooms are above the pub it is VERY noisy and hard to sleep at night if it's a football match or a weekend party.

Siamo stati accolti subito molto bene. La stanza era come in foto: molto carina e confortevole ( letto super comodo). Particolarità: ogni volta che entravi in camera era profumatissima. 😍 Colazione fantastica e personale super gentile 🤩 Molto comodo avere il parcheggio a disposizione. Situato in un punto molto strategico e comodo a qualsiasi attività che abbiamo fatto.

La chambre était bien équipée et relativement calme malgré le fait qu’elle soit au-dessus du pub. Elle était également très propre et confortable. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié l’accueil, notamment de Stevie qui a été extrêmement serviable.

Schotse pub met sport op tv. Wij waren er op zaterdag. Engeland speelde kwartfinale op WK én er was een optreden. Toch konden we rustig slapen. Lekker eenvoudig ontbijt. Zeer goede bedden!

The room was comfortable and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was very good and dinner at the restaurant was decent.

Location was perfect for my stop off on my joutney to Inverness. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. Food in the pub at dinner was great and the servuce from all the staff was brilliant.

Die Lage ist super. Das Bett war bequem. Personal beim Frühstück sehr freundlich. Das war es dann leider auch.

Zimmer dreckig, Haare in der Dusche, leere Shampoobehälter der Vorgänger in der Dusche.. Personal im Restaurant am Abend unaufmerksam und unfreundlich wie sonst nie in Schottland. Essen nicht empfehlenswert, ausser das Frühstück. Der schlechteste Burger meines Lebens. Für den Preis findet sich sicher besseres in Aviemore.

Frühstück war super, man konnte wählen und der junge Mann war sehr freundlich und angenehm. Die Betten sind hervorragend und es ist ruhig, auch wenn es über dem Pub ist. Das Zimmer war sehr klein, ebenso das Bad, aber es war alles da was man brauchte

Der Empfang war sehr unpersönlich. Wir schleppten 2 Koffer und 2 Trollis hoch. Man hat uns keine Hilfe angeboten. Die Informationen, die uns der Mitarbeiter gegeben hat wurden runter gerattert, wir konnten gar nichts verstehen.

Chambre petite mais tout ce qu‘il faut, les meilleurs lits qu‘on ait eus depuis que nous sommes en Ecosse. Petit déjeuner très convenable. Diner…..pub food très bon niveau. Personnel très professionnel.

what a charming stay! the pub folks were so friendly, showing us our rooms at check in! we love the vibe and it was such a comfy stay!!! superb stay above pub that closes at midnight (but you dont hear any noise at all) and the location is perfect!! it's literally opposite a row of little shops - charity shops, eateries that close late, and gelato shops - and a stone throw's away from a specialist pet shop and the amazing huge home bargain and supermarket!

Der Name der Unterkunft sagt eigentlich schon alles. Ein Pub mit Zimmern. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf dem Restaurant mit Sport-Bar. Das heißt, man muss starken Essensgeruch im ganzen Hotel akzeptieren. Die zentrale Lage ist top und trotzdem gibt es ausreichend Parkmöglichkeiten. Das Zimmer war ausreichend groß und funktionell eingerichtet. Das Hotel ist m. E. auf Wanderer, Fahrradfahrer und andere Sportler ausgerichtet.

Locatie is goede uitvalsbasis voor de Cairnsgorms. Goed ontbijt. Mooie kamer, wel wat gehorig.

Kamer was erg warm, maar verder eigenlijk niets.

There is friendly staff and there is Balavoulin staff. If you need something, they will help - food recommendations, table, beer, tourist guide, everything. The room was big enough, bathroom was small but usable, restaurant with amazing food and nice outdoor terrace.

Our bedroom although on the small side was nicely decorated, super clean and perfectly adequate. Everything was arranged with taste, care and attention to detail. Staff were universally helpful and efficient. Food was excellent both at evening meal and breakfast. Location is very central with sufficient car parking.

With window open there was some traffic noise but it wasn’t intrusive and after all it is a village centre location so that was to be expected.

Fantastic location and great facilities with the restaurant being on site. Enjoyed having a drink with dinner and not worrying about driving after. Great choice for breakfast too.

Es war eine unglaublich tolle Unterkunft. Alles hat von vorne bis hinten gestimmt. Einchecken war super professionell. Das Zimmer, ein Traum! Die Bar vom feinsten und das ganze wurde durch ein perfektes Frühstück abgerundet! Wow! Weiter so!!!

The Balavoulin offers a few good rooms together with a typical Scottish pub. The atmosphere is nice and down to earth with personal attention to their guests. It can easily be reached on foot from the train station. Make sure you book a table in the pub for lunch or diner since the place is quite popular among visitors. Breakfast is excellent.

Great place for a stopover on the way from NW England to the Highlands. Comfortable room, very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was fantastic - granola and fruit plus a range of cooked options and all included in the price of the room. Excellent value for money. Good location in the centre of Aviemore with nice views to the nearby hills. Highly recommended.
