The property is under renovation and this was not indicated on the website. We chose this property because it was a Hilton Garden Inn with a restaurant and lounging area and indoor pool. However, with the renovation there was nowhere to sit and relax. The tables for the restaurant we’re in the middle of the lobby. And to access indoor pool, you had to go outside the building and around and it was raining that day. So we ended up having to leave the hotel to go to a restaurant, etc. Had we known about the renovation we would have selected another property. And we still paid over $200 for the night.

Hilton Garden was in the perfect location, the food was great and the staff was coutious. I would stay there again if the need arises. We were there for a hospital stay. The shuttle with Mr. Darrel was great, he was very courteous and got me where I needed to be.

I had no complaints regarding the hotel, the staff or the service. Everything was very well organized and everyone was very helpful, I would stay there again if the need arises.

The commode seat moved every time we used the toilet. It was uncomfortable.

The only real issue, but a significant one, is that it’s adjacent to an active railroad. Multiple freight trains starting in the early morning significantly cut into sleep quality.

Had a very nice stay for over 4 days. The rooms are clean & spacious. Checkin was smooth this time. The hotel was full for Duke graduation but they handled it ok. There was a cooling issue on the 3rd floor making the hallway freezing cold. Unfortunately it was not fixed during our stay. At breakfast, both Rah and Dontez made us feel so welcome, provided excellent service at breakfast with smile & are an asset to the Hilton brand! Thank you for starting our days off right!

The location is convenient to restaurants and only a mile from the hospital. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Our server, Rah; in the dining room was delightful, friendly and attentive.

We left a cellphone at the hotel. I couldn’t believe we couldn’t pay for the hotel to ship it back to us. What a hassle it was for us to generate a FedEX label to send to the hotel and retrieve our phone. I don’t know who was more incompetent: the Hilton Garden Inn AI and staff OR the FedEX experience. I would like the four hours it took to generate the label back.

I really like this hotel in Durham. It’s so quiet, clean, comfortable and with friendly staff.

I stayed at this hotel on an extended stay for work from 8/25-12/25. I had an amazing experience everybody was friendly on check in and the duration of my stay. Nae Nae the pm shift front desk worker always greeted me with a smile and welcomed me to the hotel. I had multiple packages she always made sure I got them along with the other staff. I actually left before 2 of my packages arrived I called the hotel and spoke with the Manager and my packages were mailed to my home. I will definitely be back and refer others to stay here.

We've stayed at this hotel twice now for visits to see our daughter who is attending at Duke. We have had the opportunity to travel around the world and stay at all levels of hotel accommodations and the staff at this property are at the very top of our list as it relates to friendliness and service. From the front desk check in, to the hotel bar/restaurant and particularly the team that run breakfast in the morning, everyone is exceptionally focused on providing service with a smile. Highly recommend this property just for those reasons!

I recently stayed at this hotel during a business trip, and it was a great overall. Be aware the train runs adjacent to the hotel. So you will hear the train noise sporadically. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly at check-in, and overall the service was excellent. In particular, I want to mention Mandy, one of the bartenders, who handled a difficult and unpleasant guest with a lot of composure and professionalism. The hotel isn’t right in the heart of downtown, but it is conveniently close to the downtown area.

Smell like mold, wallpaper peeling , shower did not drain, room felt dirty, old decor. Terrible experience. I had planned to stay an extra night but decided to leave early. Disgusting. Do not recommend. Not what I expected especially at a Hilton fit more like a cheap motel

Check-in time was 3pm. I checked in at 3. The desk staff couldn't seem to get any info on why the room wasn't ready nor when it would be. I had to wait in the lobby until 3:45. The lobby is very run-down, with stained upholstery, so my stay didn't start off well!

We decide to do a spontaneous 25th Nguyen anniversary trip and we chose this hotel on a whim and It did not disappoint! The front desk staff, especially Wayne was so accommodating kind and very gracious. the manager front desk mgr Eric left us very sweet card and gave us a nice welcome package for to celebrate our anniversary and we couldn’t appreciate it more. The rooms were exceptionally clean! They gave us a late. Check out. I would definitely stay here again.

This continues to be our favorite hotel in Durham/Duke University area. In the restaurant for breakfast Rah and then on other days Alicia took great care of us! Delicious breakfast. Be aware that the rooms do not have a safe. Room was clean and spacious, hotel in great location, plenty of free parking which is a plus.

Definitely our “go-to” hotel whenever we are in/close to the Durham area. Great atmosphere, amenities, and the friendliest staff in town. Centrally located, great shuttle service, and reasonable breakfast/dinner options.

HVAC blew directly on my head: freezing, then too warm. Chose this property over others nearby because of pool, but it was much too cold to enjoy.

Do not stay here unless you enjoy sleeping in beds that are so worn out that they make squeaky noises when you sit and lie down on them. Even worse, you sink into them and literally have to climb out! I was in Durham for a medical appointment, but felt like I needed to be hospitalized after my stay at this hotel. I already walk with a cane and deal with significant pain daily. Truly, I almost couldn't walk and slept only 2 hours! They also falsely advertise that room service is available for dinner. When I arrived, I discovered that wasn't the case. When I inquired at the desk about ordering room service, the clerk said it wasn't available. I pointed out that the hotel advertised this on their website. He said he was aware of this, and informed me I would have to hobble to the bar, place my order, then carry it up to my room. I advised him that I booked the hotel because they advertised available room service and asked how I could carry a tray to my room while managing my cane. The young man I was dealing with then offered to bring the dinner to my room, which I very much appreciated. He brought me a menu, took my order, and brought my dinner to me shortly. That was the only positive aspect of my stay. These rooms aren't cheap. How they get away with false advertising and renting rooms with beds that Goodwill would reject, I have no idea!

The staff was very nice and accommodating; all pleasure! Made our stay enjoyable. The shower was old and bathroom could have been a little cleaner. One of the beds squeaked anytime you moved so at night when it was really quiet it was really annoying and uncomfortable bc felt like couldn’t move . The food was really good for breakfast and dinner. We’d stay again bc overall hotel was nice and the staff was great.

Walking distance from at least one good restaurant. Quiet area, easy parking, restaurant in the lobby which is so convenient and the food is so good. Bed is comfortable but they didn't provide a floor bath mat and the iron board cover was just fabric with absolutely no foam or cushion. smh

We stayed at the property for 3 nights while moving our son into an apartment before he started grad school. The location was perfect for us right near his apartment. The staff were friendly and competent. The room was clean, well appointed, and the beds were comfortable. Great shopping/restaurants all in walking distance.

We have stayed at this hotel many times when we have had to come to Duke for appointments. Always clean, comfortable and quiet. Plenty of parking and places nearby to eat. Grocery store super close. You don’t even have to get out onto the main road. Never had a bad stay here. Excellent accommodations after a 5 hour drive. Highly recommend.

We’ve stayed at this hotel several times when we’ve had appointments or procedures at Duke Hospital. We’ve always had great service from the staff and we’ve enjoyed meals in the restaurant on several occasions and they’ve always been good with great service. Within walking distance is grocery, some retail and a variety of restaurants. Will definitely continue to stay here when needed.

Physically, the place is dated and needs an update to justify the high price they charge. Way overpriced and offered nothing but a room. No breakfast, no water, just a high price for an overnight stay.

Price seems a little steep for what it is. It's a good chain hotel that meets expectations, but there's nothing really special. The main appeal is the location near Duke and the hospital

I would definitely stay at the Hilton Garden Inn when visiting Duke University! The staff was kind, our room was upgraded to a suite, breakfast was yummy and there were dining places nearby. We were happily surprised that they offered free shuttle within a 5 mile radius and we did not bring a car!
