Hampton Inn & Suites Durham North I-85

I liked the shower and the bed which to me is the most important. The bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent.

The tv in my room didnt work. I tried both remotes and never got it to turn on. But I needed the sleep so I didnt complain to staff.

The breakfast was very good, served from 6-10 AM, and served in a very lovely location just off the lobby. The selection of breakfast items was very large.

I liked that it was easy to check in and get settled! Our room was clean. We were visiting friends and only needed the room to sleep. The room was clean.

A lot of cars were broken into overnight the night we stayed. Our car window was not broken but the cars around ours were. They may need to hire security to patrol, since that happened and I saw some young kids running from the law while we stayed there the day before the breakins.

Rooms were clean, breakfast was offered, overall a very good experience.

There was nothing I didn’t like exactly, but there was no trash cans in the room except a small one in the bathroom. There was a funny smell when we first entered the room but it subsided after a few minutes and we sprayed some air freshener. Also breakfast was okay but mediocre.

The breakfast times were great. I love warm cookies. I like the cut off time for closing the main doors at night for security. I like the location close to highway.

Did not like the COLD WATER pool. It was FREEZING and I was not able to enjoy the pool during the 107 degree temperatures.

We did not even make it there because they cancel our rooms before we get there after they approve it and confirm our reservation. Very very disappointing!! And they cancel it at 10pm night . This hotel should have a manager during mid nite hours because the staff in charge they don’t know what they are doing and the only answer I got from it all the time it was “ we can not do that “ or “ that’s is not at option “ even tho they cancel a 2,000 dollars reservation and they did not help at all to find us another room or accommodation with what was paid already. The worst experience!!!!!! Thanks to them I had to just keep looking for a place to stay in the middle of the night . I do not recommend this hotel at all .

I liked how comfort it was, especily our beds. Very clean! I love the coffee always available and the cookie time in the afternoon! Really nice those things so we feel welcomed. The staff was always helpful.

they did not have upfront a cribe for the baby, and the baby was added in the reservation. all the food was well prepared but there not many options for dairy restriction for instance.

I was very happy with my stay. Had a very warm welcome from the front desk and was able to check in a little early which was a blessing after driving for hours. I was pleased with my room. Breakfast was very good both days.

The location was very convenient for my business purposes. But it was a bit tricky to get back to the property - signage was there but not prominent

The location was perfect for us. It was only 12 mins from our destination. Breakfast was good. The king room size was good for 3 people.

There needs to be exhaust fans in the bathrooms. The walls were sweating when we showered. Breakfast needs to include some non-pork breakfast meats, i.e. turkey sausage or turkey bacon.

I reserved a double room but they gave my room away because of a wedding party. They also over charged my card and no one answers the phone at the hotel for it to be corrected.

Shampoo in dispenser finished and they didn’t clean up our room one of the days. Rarely saw someone sitting at the reception, at least when I walked by.

Our family generally prefers to stay at a Hampton Inn when we travel. We appreciate the consistency between hotels. However, this Hampton Inn is as way above the others. The customer service was excellent and professional while still being warm. My room was exceptionally clean! It was a convenient location for me. While I wasn’t able to enjoy all the amenities, I found the hotel well appointed. The breakfast area was clean and well laid out. The hotel missed the fifth star because the breakfast was the same breakfast as all the other Hamptons. And while I like consistency, I would like to have seen some small difference. Upon our 9:15 pm arrival in the pouring rain, I was told that my room wasn't ready. And that there wasn't another room available with two beds. In my party was my sister and our two granddaughters, 9 and 10 years old. I said Well, we have a situation. Andrew went up to room 316 to check the room. He came back and reported that it was clean. Up we go. We try to shut the blinds but we can't because the cord is broken. Back downstairs I go to tell Andrew. I'm given a flat sheet and a fitted sheet to put over the window. All this happening at 10:30 at night. I told Andrew I'm very disappointed with this Hampton Inn and that I spent $250 for this experience. I have pictures of us hanging our sheets. When I checked out in the morning and stated that I'd left the sheets in the window for them to see, her response was without really looking at me OK, I'll make a note. Oh, gee, thanks.

Location was great. Easy to reach from the interstate. The restaurant we had dinner at was right across the street from the hotel. We were able to walk there.

We were seeing a show at the Carolina Theater and needed a pet friendly hotel nearby. This hotel has a $75 pet fee. It was pretty nice overall. Seemed pretty clean which is especially important to me when I travel with my pup because he eats everything he finds on the floor. They had a nice free breakfast. Room was quiet. My biggest downside was that we were on the 6th floor and the WiFi wouldn’t really connect to our floor. We bring a pet cam to keep an eye on him and wasn’t able to get more than a couple of bars to even get it to set up. Oddly enough the main lobby didn’t really seem to have good connection either so I think maybe the WiFi was just poor overall. Other than that the hotel was great. It was close to where we were looking for a good value for us.

Clean, modern hotel rooms and convenient location. Soft water and great water pressure were much appreciated.

Pillows and mattresses were not the most comfortable. Did not like the sausage patties at breakfast, prefer link sausage or crispy bacon. Coffee was great!

I was looking for a reasonably-priced hotel in the area. Primary considerations were cleanliness, safety, and good mattress. I was worried based on another review about car break-in. The room was typical Hampton Inn-clean, and I had a great night of sleep. View was head-on traffic so it’s not a garden spot. I will say this was the best HI breakfast I’ve ever had!! I usually skip but it was great. Suggest a few other tea options besides Lipton. Special thanks to Nancy at the front desk. Note to Hilton: please stop making all the Hampton Inns so generic. It feels borderline sterile at this point.

Pillows a Little to big for me

It was so clean and we enjoyed the spacious room with good bathroom facilities. Sink was outside the shower and toilet which aids morning preparations. Melania who worked there was very helpful helping me to carry luggage into the room after check-in. Also the location next to I-95 was so convenient.

Great proximity in regard to the hospital. There is a restaurant within walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great.

I know the economy is tough but it was a bit pricey. I am a seasoned traveler and I know how pricing works.

This location is super close to I-85. Very convenient. The hotel itself is wonderful. Great staff. Clean room. Good breakfast and coffee. The reason for my rating has to do with the safety of their location and parking lot. I stayed 2 nights and on the second night my truck window was smashed along with two other trucks in their parking lot. The vehicles were privately owned, state owned, and company owned. When we called to report the incident to the Durham Police, we got no response. Even though dispatch said an officer had been dispatched, no one showed up ever! We waited for three hours!! The police never even contacted the hotel for their video footage. So, if you stay or spend time in Durham, they don't care about you or your property, only those tourism dollars you spend mean anything. I will not be visiting any time soon. The hassle, headache, and no care response of the Durham Police let's me know everything I need to know. Perhaps this is normal for the property. Perhaps the police keep arresting the same person or persons and they just turn a blind eye now. Either way, I have checked out of the hotel and have left the city not to return. Stay any where but Durham!! You have been warned! I did not leave valuables in my truck. I never do. But in these near single digit temperatures, with another snow event pending, yes, I am very angry about the lack of response for the Durham City Police to a multi- vehicle incident in their city.

The coffee was good and the staff were diligent about replacing items and cleaning.

The breakfast was crowded and average food. It would have been nice to have spread the items out more and to offer fresh fruit besides oranges, bananas, and apples, along with fresh danish. I didn't eat the hot items but my husband said they were just ok. Bagels and cream cheese would be a nice add, too.

The hotel is very nice. The room was clean and up to date. The free breakfast buffet was excellent. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The location was great; there was a restaurant next door (Kickback Jacks) with good food.

We specifically looked for a hotel with a pool for the kids, but the pool was not operational because it was too cold! Very disappointing!

Fan on room air conditioner was very loud when it started and woke us up over and over all night long. We made the desk clerk aware of it and provided a recording of the noise. She shared it with her supervisor. We were given a 25.00 gift card. This was not nearly enough for not being able to sleep all night.

Was charged twice for my stay and the 3 times i spoke to staff (different employees) nothing was really solved!!! Very disappointed this is the 1st and last time Id stay at these hotels!

Great location to convention center for event. Very clean. Nice staff. Plenty of free parking. Great ac/heat in room.

One elevator was down, so it was a little wait at times for the only available elevator. Not terrible though.

Spur of the moment for an overnight. Clean. Quiet. Convenient to early morning doctor's appointment at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham. Would definitely consist for any return trips.

Customer service was terrible. We came in very tired after a long journey and were told about a problem with charging Booking.com, which is not our problem. Had to pay twice for a couple of rooms since Booking.com didn't have enough credit. Staff was rude. Both when we arrived and also in the morning. Had to wait hours to get the matter solved. Will not stay there again and probably will not use Booking.com again since they have no customer service when I tried to reach them. Five rooms had been paid for well in advance so this is unacceptable.

Reception staff was unbelievably rude. We have never experienced this attutude towards customers. I did not like the app the hotel made me use before I arrived. Where I had to choose rooms and then wait all day for electronic keys. Which of course never came because of the problem with the payment from Booking.com to the hotel. Also worth mentioning is that the breakfast is highly overrated. It is as simple as it gets. So all in all bad experience and a lot of waisted time on a short girlfriend vacation in an overrated hotel.
