Provider-sourced guest reviews.
This is a lovely, off the beaten path hotel with friendly and efficient staff. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast also very good. Would definitely come back.
We stayed here for four nights during our trip to SE Asia. We were travelling with kids so got the 2 bedroom suite which was lovely. The beds were very comfortable and the unit was very quiet at night, even during Sunday Walking Street. The breakfast is decent with freshly mde hot options, fruit and toast with a couple of local options (rice or noodles). We were able to check out a bit late and use the pool after while waiting to leave for our ongoing travel. This hotel is right in the middle of Chiang Mai old city with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. It was a great family option.
Very convenient to the Sunday Night Market. Plenty of space and ability to book connecting room. There is also a tour agent onsite.
Excellent stay at Estia Chiang Mai for 2 nights. The hotel is located centrally in the old city, within 5 minutes walking from famous temples such as Wat Pra Singh and Watchediluang Varaviharn and the museums. Other attractions in the old city are also easily doable with a 10-15 min walk. Plenty is restaurants, shops around. Locality is quiet and appears residential. We stayed in the double bed room. The room was spacious and clean. Complimentary breakfast is served from 7 and was nice. The hotel has a small but lovely pool. Very friendly staff and great service.
If you want a clean, convenient and quiet hotel, this is the place for you. Our family stayed here for four days and we have only have good things to say about it. The staff are hard working and the hotel is a serene oasis in thr bustling city. Great value for money. We would stay here again. It was fantastic!
Noise along the corridor and outside the building can be hear loudly. Everyday breakfast is almost the same and doesn’t have much choice. Room is reasonably good. Reception service is good.
The staff are amazing and friendly the breakfast set us up for the day. The pool was good but needed more sun beds. The rooms were clean and cleaned daily. The position of the hotel was great as it is in the heart of the walled city great walks restaurant and bars close to hand.
We loved this adorable place across from an elementary school down a quiet alley in a bustling area.
Great little hotel situated down a lane off Chiangmai old town. Perfectly situated for walking around the area to visit the temples. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, helpful staff and good breakfasts. Also a small pool for those who just want to relax after excursions. Would highly recommend.
2nd time staying here while ai am in Chiang Mai. Staff are wonderful and very attentive. Room is big and clean and it is in a perfect location in the heartof thw sunday night markets. Lots of nearby dining options.
It had everything we needed and the family room was perfect for our family of 5. Really liked how it was quiet but right down the way from all the shopping and restaurants. Would definitely recommend!
It was a very nice hotel. Good breakfast. Nice staff. Its too far to walk to most places and the beach in front of the hotel is not big enough to relax, the waves come all the way up to the seawall so there is no place to put your stuff.
Great stay for 5 nights in the heart of the city. East walking all around the old city. Only thing I noticed was the thin doors and the loud lock noises. That was the only thing of note, we are deep sleepers so it wasn’t a problem in the night but heard in the mornings and at night. The pool facility was nice and enjoyable after long days out around the city. And reception held on to our luggage when we arrived early off the train!
Excelente hotel. Muy cómodas las habitaciones. Tiene ascensor lo cual facilita el subir maletas y equipaje. Personal muy amable y atento.
Great location. Cute hotel. Kind staff. We stayed in the family suite. It was very roomy and decorated very cute
The room was great for the price, but don’t expect frills. Breakfast was nice and staff very friendly. Lovely to have a pool to swim in.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The aesthetics were awesome, breakfast was great , and it was close to many shops, cafes, restaurants and temples (wats) etc. The room was very spacious and comfortable, however my only gripe was that the walls were so paper thin with no insulation or soundproofing, so you can hear everything in the next room, plus what is going on outside near the pool. So at night If your neighbors are talking, it will most likely keep you awake and disturb you…other than that everything was great, and the service / hospitality from the staff was fantastic!
Great location in old city.
Everything so close. No need for tuk-tuk
Location, location, location. So many shops, temples, cafe, so close.
Amazing cultural unique vibe about the place, different to other chain hotels , staff were very wind and nothing was too much, rooms were clean and well looked after. The destination was close to tourist areas and local amenities. Breakfast didn’t have as much option as I would have liked but what was served was good food.
Stayed in a family suite. It was great for our needs and easily accessible to all the amenities in the area. The Sunday night market was right outside and an easy walk to Chinatown. The staff was amazing.
Very kind and genuine hosts. Rooms were large, beds comfortable, rooms very clean. Everything you need at fair price. I hope to return
The first night we stayed in building A. It is the older building. We were on the second floor and the smoking area was right outside our window. Our room smelled of smoke. People were outside chatting in the smoking area until 3:30 am. We asked to change rooms and they were very accommodating. We were moved in Building B the new building. It was such an improvement and we enjoyed the rest of our stay there. Ask for building B and don’t stay in building A.
Great location in old town. The property itself is basic but clean and it has a pool.
Very nice place in the center of Chiangmai old town. Very quiet and cozy too with a nice private pool.
The Estia Chiang Mai represents what the old town of Chiang Mai is about, ie, laid back, quiet and cosy. Tucked in a what I would describe as a back-lane of Ratchadamnoen Road, this little gem of a hotel provides a good place for visitors of the city to rest after a long day of excursions. Geographically, this hotel is situated in the middle of the old city, which means going around in the old city so convenient. Furthermore, nothing could really be wrong about the place if its located just opposite of a kindergarten, correct? The rooms we were given were clean and the bed linens felt as if it had just been taken back from the laundry. The hotel has gone for a minimalist feel for their room design, doing away with the wardrobe and other miscellaneous bits of furniture that takes up precious space. Instead, at one glance, you can see all your belongings, which makes packing on check-out day a much much efficient task. The beds are comfortable, and we fell asleep easily, although it must be said that after a tiring day out, we could fall asleep standing up. The bathroom-cum-toilet is also of a space-efficient design. The shower is standing-up with a shower curtain, with the toilet and wash basin neatly tucked with each other. If there was any negatives, it would be the inconsistent water pressure and the water temperature. If you decide to use the heater, the first rush of water would be really hot, but after a while, the water temperature starts to cool, and that initial gush becomes stream. It takes a bit of getting used to, but not a deal breaker. Our stay came with breakfast, and the menu is basic : eggs (scrambled and sunny-side), juices, fresh fruits, ham, sausages, cereals, sliced bread, butter, jam, and of course, coffee and tea. There is also a local corner where, depending on the chef's inspiration, you can have porridge or fried rice. Take note the cafe is small, so when everyone comes down for breakfast, it's pretty noisy. There is a small pool within the hotel grounds if you want to soak and do a bit of sun tan. We did see a number of guests sunning themselves. The hotel staff manning the front desk are a youthful bunch (one even had braces in her teeth), and the kitchen people are rather materteral. In general, all were helpful to assist your needs. Oh yes, if you leave a review of the hotel on Google, you get a souvenir. We did, and we loved that handmade pouch. One thing visitors need to take note is that this being a back-lane, things can get very quiet at night. The local restaurants, bakeries and cafes located at Intrawarorot Road operates until the mid-afternoons. So, if you come back late, the only places for dinner would be those cafes and restaurants along Ratchadamnoen Road. The tuk-tuk drivers we engaged had some problems looking for the hotel, so, don't get too flustered if they keep going around. So, all in, this hotel scores a strong 4.5 for me.
Great choice of place to stay!
This is a great hotel in the heart of Chiang Mai, just 5 minutes walk from the magnificent Wat Chedi Luang Temple complex. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. It is very quiet at night and yet there are lots of restaurants nearby. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit.

Good location Clean and Spacious room. Have mosquitoes.
Very near to Sunday Walking Street. Room is spacious. Swimming pool is nice. Very good location in the centre of the old city.
This was a perfect hotel for our family! We have two children, and the family room had a great layout with separate bedrooms and bathrooms and a common area. So helpful as we were all jetlagged and up at different times. The kids loved the pool area. The hotel is centrally located and easy to find - we would just tell tuk tuks "sam king" (which means 3 kings) and could always get back this way. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Will definitely return!
Clean rooms, friendly staff and a beautiful pool
Clean hotel, friendly staff and a nice pool
Walls were so thin, I could hear every word said by the nearby occupants (rooms surrounding my room). The location is inside a very narrow street, a lot of taxis/Grab-cars refused to go in. I almost lost my 1-full day tour because hotel staff wrongly told my tour guide that I had not arrived (they didn't bother to check their system that I had been staying since the night before)
We wanted to stay through Jan.1 at our original luxury hotel, but we could not at the time of booking, nor, was there a vacancy during our stay. We looked at google maps and tried all of the places closest. No vacancies. We found this budget hotel that had ONE room left! It is in walking distance to Three Kings Monument, Phra Singh, and other Old City venues, massage spas, etc. Estia has a cottage feeling, like a hotel in rural Europe with Thai surroundings. Everything was clean, large bathroom, hot water, the usual soaps and shampoos. bring your own conditioner and shavers. We always bring our own just in case, but sometimes these budget hotels will give you them if you ask. The wifi was strong. The TV had the usual Thai channels with a few in English. The gardens were sweet with lots of flowers. The pool is clean and more lounge chairs than at some luxury hotels! The indoor dining area is large for groups and you can sit outside but it might not be convenient for toasting bread etc. We only ate breakfast, and, at 149 baht, it was very reasonable. A water jug and clean glasses, an automated americano and espresso machine, fresh milk and cream, cereals including muesli etc. White and whole wheat bread. You choose from menu pancakes or eggs of different cooking methods. Two eggs. You get a small plate of two types of fruit. If you calculate the cost of coffee, this 149 baht price is very fair. A suggestion for certain travelers: you could stay at a luxury resort a day or more for the experience then switch to Estia for the rest of the week unless you are very picky, because if you are a tourist out all day then this is just a place to sleep. We live in Chiang Mai as retirees. Staying in Estia brought me back to my youth traveling around Europe! At $27 a night, Estia may surprise you. It is an older place but we are concerned with cleanliness. Estia is very clean. Grab Taxi easily finds Estia,
The receptionist Fai (unsure how to spell her name) is absolutely amazing and will help you with anything. The hotel itself is becoming rundown and needs updating. They are still charging high prices (for the area) but the rooms don’t match. The pipe of the overhead shower was partly rusted through so while I got a part shower most of it gave the rest of the bathroom walls a much needed wash. The towels are old and threadbare. The rooms are tired and in need of decorating. Most tv channels don’t work. Whilst Covid hit the tourist trade Estia should look at top north hotel. Previously a decent hotel that never carried out maintenance and is now selling rooms for £5 a night. They seem to be on the same slope which is a shame. Also do your own laundry. They subcontract it and it goes off site. You can get a better service for half the price at many places. Despite my review I did extend my stay by 2 nights as I was too lazy to move despite there being cheaper and better hotels nearby. So it’s not too bad.
The hotel was nice. It's close tot the centre and al sights were nearby. The staf was nice and our room was clean. The only bad thing was breakfast. There were not al lot op options. The Pool however was very nice.
Tons of mosquitos in the hotel and in the room. The staff was unfriendly and they didn't want to help us make a change at our booking. Someone stole 100 euros from my wallet, when I was away on a trip. Stay away!
Good location, a little out dated but it’s a solid little hotels staff very friendly and helpful. No breakfast but lots of local food right out side. Hotel an property it’s self is neat and tidy. It’s right in the middle on the walking street market so be prepared for a very busy Sunday but that’s the highlight of the day.
Lovely rooms, fabulous staff - very helpful and knowledgeable, has a lift, didn't try the pool out as just not had the time, brilliant location for the old section - 2 min walk to 3 Kings Monument, def will stay here on my next visit to Chiang Mai 😊🙏
We stayed at Estia for three nights in a two bedroom apartment on the top floor. Everything was perfect - the handy location, the wonderful staff, and the spacious room were exactly what we needed. We would definitely stay again.
I loved my stay here. Great location and friendly, helpful staff. I loved the swimming pool too. The room was big and spacious and I was given water every day. A great stay 😁
The location is AMAZING and perfect to walk anywhere around town. Estia Chiang Mai Boutique Hotel was so lovely and our room was very unique, clean, and had comfortable amenities. Highly recommend!!!
The rooms are huge. The public areas (Pool, lobby and restaurant) are lovely. The property is on a quiet side street. Everything was clean and well-kept. There is a cooler in the lobby, filled with ice-cold Thai beer. We stopped after being out all day and purchased a couple on the way to the pool - what great service. My visit was delightful. The Old CIty was easy walking or an inexpensive tuk-tuk to most sights. The hotel offered great suggestions and arranged transportation and guides when needed.
This hotel is comfortable and centrally located. The beds are soft. It was clean and pleasant. The breakfast was minimal but adequate of toast and cereal and of course coffee or tea.
The people are very helpful and the location is close to many things to do in the city. They can help with planning events for you to do and help navigate the city. Great value and we plan on returning in the future
Hotel location was excellent right in the center of old city and everything was walking distance. They had free water bottles at the front desk for us at all times. Room was comfortable and clean. We were also able to book our taxi to the airport with the hotel which was convenient. Overall would recommend this hotel for a budget friendly and convenient experience!
Pleasant staff, great location for the weekend markets. Surprising offer of driver (one of the concierges) to the airport at a small cost, less than getting a taxi. Breakfast service was non existent. f We had booked a twin suite on wotif but when we arrived at 10pm we were given a single queen room. Upon complaining they gave us a foldout bed which had no linen. Sharing the bed was not an option for us due to one having the flu and the other not wanting to catch it. The night staff were unable to locate extra linen for the foldout cot. The next morning they were able to accommodate us in the room we had booked as we stood over them at reception as other guests were checked out and asked for their room. This issue with room booking seems to be a known issue for them. The amenities around the pool were disappointing as all the seats and tables were dirty from being outdoors and unattended. Worse was the decking around the pool, One of the boards broke as I was leaving the pool and I fell through the decking, thankfully not hurting myself seriously but when I reported it to staff there was little reaction other than offering me some tylenol and putting a chair over the broken chipboard. I saw no evidence of anything had been done about fixing it before the end of my stay.
We enjoyed our 3 night stay here. Quite a basic hotel, but nice and clean and in a good location.
Hotel is a bit old. Room was clean & nice swimming pool.
With so many choices for places to stay I would not revisit the Estia. Though it has a great location and bed, we had no hot water to take a shower. The staff was rude and completely detached, no ambiance or character. Though it does have a little pool, the lounge chairs were in disrepair -filthy, torn cushions and broken wood frames.
Friendly staff and good hotel for seeing the local sites. Cons - WiFi rarely worked and laundry at hotel was 80B/kilo (wash and fold) while laundry up the road was 30B/kilo.
Excellent location in Chaing Mai Old Town especially if your staying on a Sunday night when the street market is on. It is literally 75m away Good number of restaurants and cafes also only 75/100m away.
65 year old couple touring Thailand for 2 months and found this hotel, although a little dated, to be very comfortable and clean. We originally booked for 3 nights but stayed for 9 nights. Enjoyed very much, lots to see and do. Staff were amazing, absolutely nothing was too much trouble, especially Hmee who helped in so many ways. Pool was a great bonus as temperatures were over 40 degrees. Would highly recommend this hotel. Nothing flash but great value for money.
Great area on a quiet street close to nice restaurants and the night market.
The area around the hotel is great for culture and getting away from the busy parts of the city. The pool is a little small but does the job. There are a few mosquitos and smokers around however it's tolerable. Overall a reasonable stay.
staff were good - room average - pool small - nice boutique hotel
Interestinfpg sound effects, children playing and singing across the alley at the school, monks chanting, roosters crowing every morning. In the evening the sound of a local band churning out hits from ions ago in English.. A it too loud and a bit too long. Convenient location in the ancient city and has a pool.
This hotel is in a fantastic location right in the middle of old Chiang Mai - great for walking around the city & any excursion pickups you may have. However, the Hotels.com photos were pretty deceptive - the hotel is certainly a lot more run down that it appears in the photos. They changed our sheets daily, and each time there were very visibly dirty (same with the towels). Hotel staff was nice & helpful and overall we had a good stay - just not as nice as we had expected.
Almost everything about this hotel was excellent. Perfect location inside the old city. Clean and comfortable. Helpful staff. Little pool out back was perfect for cooling off. The walls are a little thin. No issues at night really, it was just startling how much you could hear from the hallways when people were getting up.
I can't speak highly enough of this hotel! It's nothing fancy, but the value for the money is amazing. The location is fantastic, you are in the center of old city and walking distance to so much. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff..the staff made my visit to chiang Mai. They are so helpful and accommodating with everything from booking tours to arranging random trips to places you want to go. They really went above and beyond for us! On our last day the taxi we booked ourselves to the airport didn't show up and we were worried about missing our flight...the gentlemen at the front desk called around trying to get us another taxi and when he couldn't he cleaned out his car to drive us himself!
Cute hotel in city center. Convenient to attractions, night markets, and dining. Comfortable and would happily stay here again.
We stayed here for our first two nights in chiang mai. Overall this was a good hotel although we felt that the price was a little high especially considering that breakfast was not included. Room was spacious, I was able to easily roll out my yoga mat, the bed was very comfortable and there were over 60 t.v. Channels including western channels. Great little swimming pool to cool off in after sightseeing and the location was good, within walking distance to all sights. Bathroom could use a bit of an update, it was hard to shower without getting the entire floor wet. There were some little fleas or mosquitos in the room when we arrived, but we found we had to use repellent while in chiang Mai wherever we went.
Small hotel ran in family type atmosphere. Fabulous service. Room had small window so felt little dark and dated. Satisfactory for sure but modest.
Great location!
A comfortable hotel near the Sunday night market in the old town. Close to many restaurants and massage places, including Lila. Restaurant in the hotel, although I did not eat there, with entertainment. I would stay here again if back in Chiang Mai.
Prime location in the centre of old city, you can walk around temples and weekend night market in the main streets. English of hotel staff are not very good and seems not very patient to answer our requests of some local tours information. The hotel room looks quite old and provide basic needs only.
We cannot say enough about how perfect this hotel was for us. Location, great staff, good breakfast, lovely pool and close too "Walking Strèet" for shopping and lovely Wat Singh and Wat Luang temples for local life. Located inside old city wall. They have a spectacular 2 bedroom suite, very elegant!
Centrally located in old city, staff was helpful to get our room ready as we reached before the check-in time, room was basic but clean. Air-con was not powerful enough. Overall good value for money
Good Value
My husband and I stayed here for just two nights, but thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, location, price, and comfortable bed. The water pressure was nice in the bathroom and we had hot water. There was a small pool, but we never swam in it. It was a bit cold at night in December, but it didn't make a difference. If you come on a Sunday, you MUST got to the night market...it was amazing!!
Great location. Great staff
This hotel is in a great location in the Old City. The Sunday night market is right outside. The reviews complaining about the noise might be overblown as we were not disturbed by the school across the street nor by monks chanting, but it could be dependent on room location. The staff was friendly and the rooms were pretty well kept.
This hotel was perfect for us, just off the main street and in a good overall position in the town. A helpful and friendly staff and the gentle early morning singing from the local primary school made this an inspired choice! Good breakfasts too.
Value for money, close to Sunday market, will stay there again.

The hotel is a bit hidden but off a main road, which allows you to get anywhere fast! Nearby are spas, restaurants, temples, shopping, etc. There's a beautiful pool and spa but not a "hot tub". Those seem to be hard to find. The hallways are a bit loud so bring earplugs. You can also hear the kids in the school across the street and the morning Muslim prayer call. The front desk staff was helpful, but their English was a bit limited so there was a bit of communication trouble. We managed though. It was a pleasant place.
Perfect location in the Old Quarter on a side street. Shower pressure is great, staff is helpful and kind!
Good location but room was very basic. 'Breakfast' was included - instant coffee, tea and bread with jam, honey - self serve. Was a little difficult to communicate effectively with staff.
The only complaint I would have about this hotel, was that the room we had was facing the preschool across the street, and even with all the windows shut and a/c on, it was a bit noisy starting around 8 am. If you don't sleep in, or maybe if you have a room on the other side of the hotel, this may not be an issue. Aside from that, it was a really great place to stay. Close to the Sunday Night Walking Street at the heart of Chiang Mai, so it's a perfect weekend stay. The room was clean and spacious, and offered a nice view of the area. I would stay again, but I would probably specify a room in the back.
This was one of the worst hotel experiences in my life. Frankly, I booked on the advice of expedia reviews and I was sorely disappointed. If you like to sleep in past about 7am in the morning (or at least have the option to), then this is NOT the place for you. With a temple on one side of the building ringing their prayer bells, and a primary school on the other, playing national anthem and screaming at the kids through loudspeakers -- PLUS every little movement in the corridor outside reverberating and shaking the door -- there is precious little peace offered here. The walls are also paper thin, so easily able to hear others in the room next door. On top of that, the staff were nearly impossible to deal with at a level any more complex that "call taxi" or "keep key" -- English atrocious! And, typical for Thailand hotels, they are on the take with everything. Laundry and taxis at LEAST double price - first day, charged 200baht for a Tuk Tuk!! I wish I could say this was a comfortable stay, but 7 days of this torture test wore my nerves to the nub! Beware of positive reviews for this hole -- the ONLY reason to stay here: it's cheap. Other than that, utter rubbish. I stayed in Chiang Mai an extra 2 nights, and was GLAD to move hotel to 'Rich Lanna House' - after this rubbish, RLH was SUPERB!! Also, bathroom cleanliness prior to entry was a bit lacking. I found several black hairs around the bathroom, and the place just felt 'oily' all the time. One to avoid!
The place in the center of the city. Everything in town is in walking distance. The bathroom was a bit unpractical. See-through door, and a shower that made the whole bathroom wet. I would recommend this place for couples who want to stay on a budget.
For the low budject this hotel is grood. Friendly Service. Clean. No restaurant. You have to go out to look for the food.Small pool is in the Back. I see no one use it during my 3 days stay.
Very nice budget hotel. Beds a bit uncomfortable but overall nice and in a good area
Great place to stay at. Comfortable, clean rooms, friendly staff. Wonderful pool setting. Very close to restaurants and shops. Highly recommend Estia Chiang Mai Boutique Hotel
A very quiet side street in center of old town.
Enjoyable two night's stay in this comfortable hotel close to centre of Chiang Mai
Staff did not speak English very well, but were friendly and tried to help
The hotel is quiet despite it being centrally located in the Old City part of Chiangmai. The Sunday night market is just a few yards away from the hotel and the location couldn't be better. I don't have any complaints about the hotel except that the shower was weak and hot water wasn't persistently available. With that said, hot water in showers seems to be unreliable in most Thai hotels. Despite the "not so great" shower, we would stay at Hotel Estia again.
The hotel located in a quite small street behind the main street, it's convenient to access many attractions of the old town. In fact we walked around without taking any transportation, except the day tours. The room is clean, though the service people seems invisible.
