Lots of condensation dripping down the windows each morning. Heating not adequate (none in the bathroom). I never had a shower as it wasn't great. To have it hot enough you had to have very low pressure. No milk provided. Michelle seemed friendly on the phone but when I paid the gentleman on Saturday evening he was a man of few words and didn't enquire how my stay was.

Can’t blame the motel but the water pressure for flushing the toilet was a bit on the low side. Toilet needed to be flushed several times to clear the bowl.

Perhaps NZ is different to Australia but I found housekeeping to be cursory. It appeared that the only tasks completed were to empty trash bins and replace used linen. Bed was left unmade. Proximity of my room to my room to main road meant night time noise was disturbing. Double-glazing might remedy this somewhat. Most annoying was that the heat pump worked only intermittently and at night when most needed seemed not to operate at all. Hot water temperature in shower was variable, sometimes only luke-warm.

Reviewed Apr 24, 2026It's very clean and cosy. The layout of the kitchenette and dining area is really nice. Beds are really comfortable. There's a door that opens up to the backyard area and allows you to load/unload your stuff from the car - it's convenient and gives the feeling of more space. Location is great too, it's along the main road with a supermarket within walking distance and a laundromat just a short drive from the motel.
A minor thing for us - the bathroom is only accessible thru the bedroom.

Reviewed Apr 14, 2026Great location on High Street; parking outside the room; decent sized kitchenette that had 2 stools and all the appliances we needed; liked it could be closed off from the bedroom; good selection of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Liked that there was an additional pillow available. The two chairs were comfortable.
Unfortunately, the freezer didn't work. However, staff in the office kindly put my water bottles and ice pack in their freezer. Surprised and disappointed that staff reserved a room closest to the busy street for us even though I had made a reservation 8 months ago. That shouldn't have been done in my opinion. We knew that the room would be small and it was!

I made a mistake and booked for the night before the one I needed. The proprietor rang me up that night to find out what time I was arriving, and of course that was only when I realised my mistake. Now bear in mind, she had my money. She could have offered to transfer the booking to the following night, if it was possible. Instead she basically told me off, grumbling that she had gone and turned the heat on in the room, and would now have to go turn it off, and that she could have let it out to someone else. She had my money!!! And she now had a paid for room that she didn't have to clean! I did apologise, but even that was not enough for her to be gracious and offer me a night stay some other time. Sheesh! Luckily I found a lovely motel the following night, the Bella Vista, run by a lovely person.

Any noise from the room next door and downstairs echoed up the stairs. Could hear other guests yelling and slamming doors. We had issues with the wifi it wasn't easy to connect and hardly worked so we chewed through our own phone data. Could do with darker bedroom curtains as the outside lights at night kept me awake

Our room was room 10 right at the end of the building next to highway 6. There was no door to the kitchen area and felt a bit strange. It was a very busy road with lots of traffic noise all night resulting to a poor nights sleep. Best to ask for a room as far away from the road if booking to stay here.
