arrived a little latter than expected, they gave us a call to see, where we were which i thought was really nice. room was, nice and quiet, (but we preferred the room we stayed in last year, it. the quiet room was a little smaller, and we like to just spread out, and chill, so will be requesting the room previously) breakfast was as good as last year. The mill forge just has that welcome feeling you know it is going to be clean and comfortable which it was. will definitely stay again we have found our stop over on our trips up north. which is great knowing we won't be disappointed.

I know they hold breakfast upstairs, and we were offered a table downstairs, as i don't do stairs well, but on arrival, it did not look welcoming, everybody had gone up stairs even though the other couple had requested downstairs, we felt out of place being the only ones so we went up, why can they not just have breakfast for everyone downstairs? not enough to put us of from staying again.

Clean , tidy comfortable . We stayed before and would stay again. Breakfast 1st class

There was nothing I didn’t like

The two women who checked us in were outgoing and so joyful. The bar and food staff were equally well suited in making us feel welcome.

The fact we were only there for one day!

The food was OK. The wine prices ate outrageous. I could buy the same bottle for 7.

Pleasant facilities close to motorway making it ideal for an overnight stop

We got married here 2 years ago and still love it

We were in a family room No.1 double bed and single bed the matteress could be upgraded and the flooring the carpet could be more of a carpet feels like a school carpet, and could be doing with a bit more decor and more homely looking

The whole place was quaint, and different from most hotels. Staff were friendly and helpful.

stayed for our 20th wedding anniversary as we got married here, lovely staff all so friendly, we upgraded to the bridal suite and it was perfect

our only issue was the bed was not as soft as we would of liked it.

Rooms were of a poor standard. Bathroom window didn’t lock in our room. Only 1 coat hanger each in the open wardrobe. Bathroom mirror light didn’t work. Also the restaurant was too close to night time disco. Breakfast was really poor quality in comparison to many 3 star hotels we have been to and the breakfast time from 7:30-9 is too short and the check out time is too early at 10 am. Food average at best.

The location was very nice. The room was comfortable. Very impressed that when Tv wasnt working to watch the World Cup final that we were very quickly helped and moved to another room. We were checking in late and it was lovely to receive a call to let us know where to pick up the keys for our room.

We liked it. It had everything we needed...just missing on little things that would make a difference e.g some biscuits in room. Being asked if we would like anything else to eat or drink in the restaurant area but think they had a new trainee who was very nice, but still learning the ropes

Its location. The staff were lovely and cheerful. The food was good.

The internet connection was very dodgy.

Staff went above and beyond without having to ask. Especially the person who checked us in and out. Even making sure we had a fan and a little fridge for milk that was needed for dietary needs. Without even asking! Amazing, thank you.

Stayed for one night on a journey further north . Nice spacious room with comfortable bed and good shower area. Lots of road noise outside but non inside. It's prime focus is as a wedding venue but we had a nice evening meal in the bar area with a wedding reception in an adjacent area. Breakfast was efficient and we were soon on our way.

The price! £154 for B&B not great value for money

Primarily a wedding venue in the countryside north of Gretna in a converted mill and farm. Quiet when we were there midweek. Ground floor accommodation blocks. Plenty of free parking. Restaurant and bar. Freshly prepared breakfast. Friendly staff.

There was a mix up with the original room allocated on the first night which was so small - couldn't get in the shower! Thankfully, the staff in reception noticed the error and arranged a move to an altogether room of a desired standard. All the staff were friendly and efficient, the food was excellent and the service was spot on. Kate behind the bar in the lounge couldn't do enough for us. Reception staff went out of their way to correct the mix up over the room. A problem corrected!!

The WiFi was almost non existent, the bed was hard, and a train went past several times a night. Breakfast was mediocre compared to other places we’d stayed.

Peaceful and bed so comfortable. Enjoyable weekend attending a very special wedding, well organised and couldn’t fault the staff.

Good breakfast, but 7.30 till 9am service is too early for a relaxed Sunday morning.

Loved this place. The Room was great . Lovely grounds, clean everywhere. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was very nice. Would stay here again.

The mattress was a little hard and thin. The lights outside the apartment was very bright, so made it a bit difficult to sleep. Otherwise everything else was perfect. Didn't spoil our stay though! 😊

Setting is lovely with interesting buildings and garden areas. It is just a short distance off the motorway in a rural setting. Staff are very good,friendly and helpful. The cabin style bedrooms were cute and comfortable almost like being in your own mini terraced house Food in the bar was very good and service excellent as were all staff I had contact with. Breakfast was good with the usual range available. Plentiful parking in various parking areas. Rooms were good size, clean and comfortable. Reception staff good and helpful.

Could not fault them. Anyone with mobility issues may find the stairs up to the breakfast room awkward but I'm sure the staff would find a solution to help if they were made aware of any issues

Great place to break the journey north. Great bar and restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ideal position near to M74 junction. Parking perfect - right outside the room. I would definitely recommend it as a lay over. Breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day.

The rooms were very clean and well presented. Tea and coffee making tray. Comfy bed. En - suite was large. Ironing board and iron available. Large mirrors and good lighting. Lovely grounds with beautiful flowers. Helpful and friendly staff. Lovely views.

The staff were lovely, kind and welcoming especially Gemma.

The bed was uncomfotable, the door to the room was so warped it wouldn't shut. I would have liked a chair or two in the room to watch tv on a night instead of sitting on the bed which was uncomfortable. We went and bought a mattress topper.

The breakfast was excellent, the staff were brilliant and very helpfull and friendly. The food in evening was beautiful, I can recommend the caledonian vhick3n.

Open late and called to check we were ok when we were stuck in roadworks, the room was clean and not tiny (we had checked ahead of time that the travel cot would fit in the double room)

The room we were originally given had not been made up from the previous occupants. On advising the staff this was immediately remedied.

Lovely little stay for our friends wedding, the hotel grounds are beautiful, food and drink decent quality and reasonably priced, staff are attentive and friendly.i can see the appeal of getting married here.

The bypass is pretty close so there is a steady hum of traffic noise at all hours and the beds could be a little comfier. These are minor gripes however and I would fully recommend a stay here.

Not our first stay here so knew what to expect which is why we chose here to celebrate a special birthday. Good size and comfortable rooms, lovely bar and great breakfast.

The evening meal was disappointing not the usual standard for this hotel.

Fantastic staff, facilities and service. In very tricky weather they made sure that our vows ceremony went un hindered. Would highly recommend this venue to anyone who wants to have either their wedding or vows service. Excellent.

A gorgeous hotel perfect for weddings with a lovely Chapel. We stayed two nights on our way up to Glasgow. The food was excellent plenty of choice the staff friendly and very helpful and the rooms were very quiet and lovely and warm. An excellent stop over just off the motorway. We will definitely stay over again.

There is nothing to dislike about the property. Our mattress was passed its best but we told reception so hopefully a new one will be in place for new guests .

Very attractive setting. Meals were good and the staff excellent. Lovely little "cabins" set in a garden setting. Close to the A74M but good rural feel.

Breakfast is served upstairs with no lift. This was not a problem for me but someone with mobility issues might find this difficult. Because the staff were so good I'm sure if the issue were raised they would try to accommodate this.

The property had everything you need. Rooms were comfortable, had lots of storage and mirrors.

Carpet was very thin so quite noisy of a night, could hear ever creak!

The room was a bit soulless, but was fine for one night.

The staff make the place. Bright, welcoming and helpful. Food is excellent and a fine selection of beers and whisky (and other wine and spirits).

The room was basic. The carpet on the floor was very thin so much that it offers no dampening underfoot. Breakfast from 0730-0900 felt a bit restrictive. It’s a wee bit out of the way so no ease of walking into nearby villages, which we like to do.

Not our first time staying here, it never disappoints. Rooms are a good size, comfortable beds and a good shower. The bar/restaurant is great, amazing food, reasonably priced and breakfast is excellent.

Was a great stay. The room was fine, but the bed was a little uncomfortable- I think maybe put a think mattress protector or a new bed! Food was great at dinner (scampi and pie) and a nice couple of drinks 👍🏼. The barmaid was lovely and she had lots to do. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff were friendly and the room had a great view onto fields.

The room was very small. I couldn't have a shower as it was far less than average. The bathroom was even smaller and in my view unacceptable. The breakfast was very mediocre. Overall I would rate the stay as really not value for money. Wouldn't stay here again.

Such a friendly welcome on a quiet winter night. The superb food and drink was most welcome, and the room was warm and comforting.

The bed was not the most comfortable but I'm splitting hairs as the overall experience was fantastic.
