Loved the style of the studio unit. It was very welcoming and spacious

Lack of glassware, wine glasses etc. no lamps in the bedrooms. Restaurant food was very average

The weather

Pretty building, the lady was nice and polite at the reception.

We had to put up with kids screaming and crying all night, I assume the noise came from the room upstairs, no soundproofing whatsoever. I was so disappointed and upset since we paid extra to make sure our trip would be comfortable but it wasn't.

Atmosphere, friendly bar staff cosy fire place and great food and drinks. The heated swimming pool was fabulous

A lovely warm chateau, fire going, great service in reception, bar and restaurant. Rooms really warm and comfortable- especially at -2 degrees overnight! Heated pool was superb , and the onsite laundry appreciated.

Our aircon/heat pump was loud so we had to turn it off.

Great lively vibe in Powderkeg Bar and good food. Friendly and helpful staff who arranged a continental breakfast delivered to our room the night before when we had an early start for the Tongariro Crossing. Enjoyed the bathtub, only hotel with one so far on this trip!

A little dated and could have done with more lights in the room.

Loved our stay. Comfy rooms, super friendly staff, and an ideal location. The restaurant was fine—small and often busy because it’s the only real one in town—but the food was delicious.

A bit noisy

Large room with fridge, kettle and tea, large bathroom with two sinks. Very convenient for the train station and ski shuttle bus. Nice bar with outside terrace upstairs. Nice heated indoor pool.

The room was cold, especially the floor, the air on was inadequate to warm the room and the room was dark, the staff to be fair did offer to move us to a balcony room, which may have been better. Whilst convenient for the train station it’s a 30 minute walk to the town for supermarket and other restaurants. Seems expensive for a hotel that would once have been quite grand, but now feels a bit dated.

Excellent, relaxing pool. The proximity to the train line was unexpected (I hadn't checked in fairness!), but not overly bad, more of an occasional deep rumble. Other than that it was a really peaceful stay. The proximity to Ohakune Mountain Road cannot be beaten for those intending on heading up to Turoa.

The heatpump was a little noisy, but did a good job keeping the room warm. Be careful around what is complimentary and what is charged for with the mini-bar as the non-refrigerated items are mixed in with teas and coffees ... an over eager child cracked into ours!

It looks absolutely gorgeous even the rooms and ir feel like we were in another country

The bed was so uncomfortable..we are lucky if we got 20 mins sleep between us ... it reminded us of the time we slept on the airport floor only it bounced each time the othet moved even the slightest Sadly we cant recommend sleeping here but food was great

Warm, comfortable and felt like we were staying in the alps!

Comfortable, warm accommodation. Spacious, clean, good facilities and all the amenities of an apartment.

Was not aware the accommodation was so far from the actual hotel. Not able to order room service without getting into your car and fetching it. Unable to park at accommodation and had to park on the road. More like a book a bach than hotel accommodation so could not comfortably use the hotel facilities without driving there so used other places for meals.

Die Lobby & das Restaurant waren sehr gemütlich! Wir hatten ein renoviertes Bad, was das Zimmer sehr aufgewertet hat.

Das Zimmer war sehr dürftig eingerichtet. Wir hatten ein paar Haare auf dem Bett die sicherlich vom beziehen kamen. Es war alles etwas lieblos gestaltet und dafür war der Preis leider absolut nicht gerechtfertigt.

A comfortable and spacious room. Older decor but a newly renovated bathroom was a bonus. Quiet location.

Most of the shops and food outlets are 2 km away.

Charm, location, facilities and restaurants

Our room was outside the partition door that separates the rooms from the elevator. The partition door did not have a soft close feature, so anytime someone came through the 3rd floor and opened the doors, they would loudly slam shut, which shook our bedroom wall. It was loud and disruptive. Otherwise everything else was perfect

Purtroppo c’è un pub/locale molto vicino all’hotel che aveva la musica alta fino a tardi; abbiamo dovuto chiamare due volte la polizia poiché non riuscivamo a dormire

We like everything about Powerhorn - the room with balance and bath, the convenience of the pool and restaurant and bar, staff are efficient and friendly.

Fish meal was a bit dry (snapper) although the staff service is very good.

Only thing that would make it perfect would be to supply one soft thinner pillow and one thick pillow instead of two thick pillows, for those of us who like a soft pillow for sleeping.

We knew the restaurant from previous visits, but we never stayed overnight. It was a very pleasant experience. We didn't know about the pool, so fully enjoyed its warmth after a day in the cold.

Beautiful accommodation! Super clean, spacious room. Beautiful location. Lovely restaurant and bar downstairs. Biggest highlight was getting to see the Lord of the Rings guest book and room numbers. We stayed in Sean Astin's room. A must stay for a Lord of the Rings fan!! Lovely modern bathroom too.
