The room was comfortable, warm and had the facilities to ensure we had a nice night. We loved the spa, it was so nice to soak it up after having a long day of driving. We loved the atmosphere of the bar, there were a few table games to play (8-ball, table tennis etc) which was a nice touch. The food was also amazing! The staff were also very lovely and made us feel so welcome!

Although we had everything to make hot drinks, we had no fridge in our room to store any water or soft drinks we purchased.

Great value for money, comfortable accommodation and everything we needed for the weekend. The restaurant was a huge surprise too, the food was absolutely delicious and you can really tell there’s care and passion behind the cooking. We highly recommend eating there!

The shower was superb. The water flow excellent, and the speed it heated up also excellent.

Blown away with the Fair Trade Tea, Coffee, Hot Choc and Sugar in the room AND ethical shower products. Spectacular.

I found the vanity sink IN the bedroom rather than the bathroom a little alarming, particularly as there was no sink in the toilet.

The restaurant and staff and reception all very helpful and friendly.

The mattress very uncontrollable for a mature couple.

Noises in other rooms can disturb your sleep, but not a big deal. Pros outweigh the cons here.

Everything was great, the accommodation was well positioned, and the staff was also warm, nice and attentive.The fact that they offer free parking that is really close by to the rooms is really good. The bar had a really cosy atmosphere which was a plus on cold days.

I can't say that we didn't like our room, as we even got a room close to the car park and the sauna but the room was freezing. As for the rest everything was perfect and I would return if I had to spend a night.

Staff informed us that he will leave the door open and keys inside the room for our late check-in. But when we arrived, rooms were locked. No one was at reception. No one was responding to calls. We have to request to a guest to call the staff who was sleeping in their room. It was freezing outside.

The property is great, good facilities, the value is good.

Has a nice, alpine vibe, a good bar, good tap beer selection.

Close to the mountain

Tidy, clean room. Spacious bathroom. Warm. Drying room for ski gear was very handy. Spa after a day skiing was fab! Enough basic amenities in the room. Parking out back close to room was handy.

Could be a bit noisy with neighbours coming and going but that died down during the early evening.

The room came with a great table in the restaurant to watch the All Black vs Italy on the biggest screen in Ohakune. Excellent food and service. Breakfast included, Thanks :)

It’s a beautiful old historic building, high up on the hill with good views

The rooms were a little on the chilly side, even with the heating, and you couldn’t increase the heat as it is supplied through fixed hydronic heating. The lights in the room are insufficient and the room is quite dim at night. They did provide bedside lamps that helped. The biggest issue is there’s no set parking for your room. It’s set up, first in first served. We ended up parking on the street on the two nights we stayed and had mountain bikes on the back of the car. Probably just lucky they didn’t get nicked. Breakfast is pretty basic as well. No hot food, and the cafe has a lovely fire place, but instead it wasn’t on, and we had breakfast in the cold.

Lovely staff great food. Our little one enjoyed our stay they are dog friendly.

Nice character great location and the onsite facilities were great including cafe, bar, and multiple spa pools.

The staff were nice Linen was nice and clean.

I didn’t like the hand basin in the living area to wash your hands after using the toilet. A basin should always be in the bathroom in my view, it was also used as the kitchen sink We have never stayed in a place like this before that has this type of set up. Also there was no fridge (which it did state when at reception you could hire one for $20) And no electric blanket which I would expect in a motel located near the ski fields.

The cafe staff were amazing and so friendly.

i loved the complimentary breakfast, the staff were excellent and the views were impeccable. super good value room for the price! the restaurant was amazing, great atmosphere and food. easy best stay in ohakune!

there was a loud dog in the room next door to me so it wasn't the quietest of places. i kind of wish there was free wifi throughout the stay as i used my room as a study space for a fair bit of my trip. other than that, the pros outweighed the cons.

Love the location, staff are awesome! We love coming to stay and the pub n food!!

The antique version of the Building and the ceiling in Dining Hall looks great.

The heating system should have a better type which could easily adjust the temperature. I am not saying it is not good but it’s a little bit complicated control system.

Room a bit tired, with broken draw, broken fire sensor. Power point at beside didn't work.

Friendly staff, easy check in and out. Room was clean and spacious. Heating was on when I arrived.

Thin walls, could hear the tv and neighbour's conversation. Ear plugs were provided.

We were awaken at 2am to an outside gate banging on the outside corner of our room in the wind, having to get dressed go outside to secure the gate was annoying unacceptable, I’ve emailed kings explaining this and after 3 days they still haven’t replied. Very poor customer service

The gate banging, the bedside light blinking, you couldn’t have it on, the sing plug not sealing just allowing the water to drain away, kings not returning phone calls.

Love the food from the restaurant especially the buffalo wings and mussels big portions and freshly made. Our room was good has mostly everything. Staff were very helpful and friendly and service was fast and on point. Restaurant was very cosy and nice setting.

I wouldnt say didnt like just felt like the certain areas of the place needs renos carpark area very dark could have more lighting. Pillows could be more thicker and beds. Room didnt have any mini fridge.

This stay felt like a poetic, tranquil escape. A beautifully serene retreat with a palette of warm gold, soft orange and earthy brown, so calming and therapeutic. The quiet, gentle kitten wandering around was the sweetest surprise. Pure comfort and peace.

Stayed here before so knew what to expect. It's primarily for younger folks so no trimmings but staff go out of their way to help out and are so friendly. Having said all that the evening meal was outstanding. One of the very best we'd had in a 3 week trip to the South Island, and we ate in some very fancy places in Wanaka and other cities. Both the Venison and the Pulled Pork mains were incredibly good. We noticed a LOT of locals coming in to dine so they clearly have built a reputation around the food. Of note is that they've added a continental breakfast since last year - and included in price of stay. This was great too and included home made granola (2 options) and home made yoghurt.

As previously mentioned, being primarily for younger guests, it is not very private so noise levels depend on the guests staying both the number and the rowdiness. This time, main noise came from dogs that were staying next to us and guests leaving very early.
