It was nice being able to see wildlife like the glow worms and enjoy the river and trails around the property

Absolutely stunning. Surrounded by native bush with the natural sounds of a river in the background. Well set up, with a covered deck to sit outside to appreciate mother nature at her best.

I did have 1 issue, which I spoke to the owner about and was investiagted immediately. High five!!!

No wifi in my cabin, but even when in communal areas wifi was very slow. Overall everything was somewhat tired and needs an update.

Was für eine schöne Natur mit tollem Fluß, kostenlose Kayak, Trampulin, Spielplatz, drinnen Spielmöglichkeiten, Glühwürmchen zu sehen, Cabin ist klein, aber fein. Gemeinschaftsbereich ist sauber. Sehr nettes Pärchen, die um alles kümmern.

Fantastic stay for groups! We stayed here with 10 friends in two separate rooms. The place is huge! We loved the common area with the pool table and foosball. Being able to go kayaking on the lake and use the trampoline was a real highlight. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, and the large green space is beautiful. Special mention for the cleanliness of the shared kitchen and bathrooms. Highly recommended—we’d definitely come back!

Beautiful spot with a great swimming hole. The host was super friendly, welcoming and helpful. The house is pretty old but had everything we needed for a great stay. Detailed folder with information on what to do in the area. That was awesome!

The double bed in the larger room was not very comfortable. Some noxious weeds around the swimming hole would need to be dealt to before they proliferate...

Great family stay. All the facilities were clean, tidy and very user friendly. The large lounge room kept the teenagers entertained at night. The swimming hole was absolutely stunning. All in all a brilliant place to stay.

There was nothing we didn't like. The driveway was a little scary the first time down but just took our time and it was fine.

The accommodation is set by a quiet river and was a nice place to relax. We used the BBQ and enjoyed a peaceful stay. Kayaks and life jackets were free to use, which was great for spending time with the kids. The hosts were very kind, and in the evening they showed us a nearby forest where we could see glow worms. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. It was great value for money, and we’d love to visit again.

This place is truly magical! We are a family of 5 and stayed in a dorm room for 4 nights. There are green hills around and a creek with kayaks! The common area is very nice with TV, pool table, ping pong table and some board games. Plenty of grass for the kids to run around and bbq spots. There is a trampoline which was perfect for our kids. The shared kitchen is fully equipped. Womens bathroom was in good condition, mens could be cleaner. There is a little distance between the restrooms and the dorm rooms which is not that great when kids wake up in the middle of the night and need to walk outside in the dark. Come with insect repellent since this place is the middle of nature and there are some mosquitoes and a few sand flies.

De locatie was prachtig, heel rustig aan een rivier. In de nacht kan je een privé Glowworm track doen en het uitzicht vanaf de heuvel is heel mooi. André is een super aardige man die altijd gezellig een praatje komt maken en met plezier verteld over van alles en nogwat!

De faciliteiten waren prima. De douche was niet super schoon en de keuken vrij klein, wij hadden geluk dat er niet veel reizigers waren maar het kan problemen opleveren als er meer mensen zijn denk ik.

Everything was perfect! Andree and Therese were amazing, help with everything. The place is clean and you can find whatever you need in the kitchen. We recommend and really want to come again.

Beautiful hidden location by a river. Perfect to relax and visit the area. André was super nice and took me on a small evening walk with thousands of glowworms! Absolutely beautiful.

The owners and staff were welcoming and helpful. The setting of the accommodation was great. The activities for the children were great too. Having the river/kayaks and games room to use. Lots of local/area information avaliable in the rooms.

Loved the location and activities available. If you didnt want to leave the lodge there were plenty of things to do - perfect for a family. Andre was a wonderful and helpful host.

Pleasant budget accommodation in quiet, country location not far from the sea. Staff helpful and informative.

Cleanliness wasn’t great. Needed a good vacuum, particularly under beds, sofas and sofa cushions. Lacking sufficient basic cleaning items like cloths, antibacterial sprays and additional bin bags. Shower tended to cycle between hot and cold.

Beautiful surroundings, sound of the river is so calm and peaceful, staff are very friendly and helpful. Kids LOVED the trampoline and play area.

The shower water is unreliable… temperature varies within seconds and water pressure slows completely. No WiFi or TV in lodge. More storage/ packing place for clothes would be good.

Splendid location peaceful in a dramatic setting in a tropical george above a river. The manager, Manie, was very helpful, above and beyond his normal duties.

The road to the lodges is not sealed. It's fine for a 4 wheeler or a light motorcycle, but it is not suitable for a heavy touring motorcycle. The text editor on this site is terrible.

beautiful location with a fresh swimming hole. Our chalet was quite dusty and dirty though. Overall it was a lovely stay.

I really liked the family friendly atmosphere, the staff were really great to make sure we were comfortable, good relaxing time with swimming in the river even our toddler liked it, will definitely return

It was really peaceful surroundings and great for a short break.

Too far away from the nicer beaches so had to drive some distance to enjoy the beaches and restaurants are practically non existent in that area.

Our booking was last minute due to unexpected things. Initially communication was good but on arrival there poor daughter there to check us in poor thing was so nervous and unsure. We had no bathroom with our room there was toilet and shower facilities shower had no lockable door only 2 curtains. 2 other showers were available in the kitchen/communal area. Our room was so hot no fan available. Washing only did a hit wash even though connected to cold water tap. It took over an hour to do a load that it was easier to drive into town instead of waiting for washing to finish all day. TV didn’t not work nir did the wifi. Such a special location with projects around half done. On check only a young boy available who didn’t want to get off the couch (fair enough he’s young we are strangers).

It wasn't clean, the same towel for drying hands in the bathroom had not been changed the whole time we were there....the shower was dirty and the toilets had not been cleaned the entire time we stayed

Loved this place, was very quiet and relaxing with the nice swimming area ( river ) for the kids . Lovely Hosts . The accommodation was nice , I stayed in the one bedroom cottage , it had everything we needed . Will definitely go back and I would recommend this place to friends and family . Older style accommodation but cosy and well equipped 👌.

Really peaceful, surrounding by beautiful trees and singing birds. there is a swimming hole here and kayaks to play on. The second floor A frame room has steep stairs so be mindful of your agility.

Positives: The Lodge has a high cute factor. Location is very secluded and quiet. The room was very well equipped and comfortable. Nice bed & bedding which added to a cozy feeling. Not So Great: Check-in was long in that it took 23 minutes to get a response and a bit more for someone to arrive. Internet is limited to 100GB per day with rationale to effect that is thought sufficient as nature should take priority. Regardless, the internet connection was not available any point during the 2 day stay. When this was raised at check-in (Friday), operator indicated a technician would be called on Monday (post stay). Parking may be intimidating for some as it required reversing downgrade and around a corner in a tight location. Hot water quantity limits to short showers tho it recovers in a reasonable time - it can be a surprise for hair washing time!

Really appreciated Manie our host, thank you for the warm, friendly hospitality and flexibility with checking in. Thank you also for the late check out as it meant we could visit the beautiful Te Mata river once more and soak up the mauri of the space. We appreciate you sharing such a treasure with us, looking forward to coming again.

This is an excellent lodgings for whanau(family). It is so surreal and quiet. I love the whole set up and the steps down to the riverside.

The shower was dangerous as the temperature gage kept turning hot to cold and vice versa. There is no internet either which is a shame?

I liked everything about the lodge. There is alot to do for the kids to enjoy and Bevan went above and beyond to cater for us

Peace & quiet, birdsong, out in nature, helpful staff, not far from beach. We had sun & rain & it was beautiful in both.

Great spot at the back of Te Mata located right on the river with its own little sandy beach section which is perfect for swimming. Our toddler loved the trampoline and playground and the chickens roaming around were a big hit. The cabin was comfortable and quiet amongst nature, just make sure you keep the windows/flyscreens closed or be prepared for plenty of mosquitoes overnight!

The staff weren't really very present and could only be contacted via SMS, which wasn't very helpful for us without mobile network. We didn't receive any information about changing our bins and nobody came to change them over three days so they were overflowing by the end.

Beautiful space in nature. The Mats River. Glow worms. Native birds. Variety of different things to do or explore. Friendly staff and someone available. Green noise. Best sleep in ages.

Google maps, can't give an accurate location to the Lodge. The road signs to the Lodge were my guide to the place.

We loved the little chalet. It was so cozy and the kids loved being upstairs. The location was perfect for us. We loved the river, with the kayaks. The kids talked about how cool it would be to have 'donuts' to float around in the water. We loved being surrounded by bush.

It was advertised that there was gold pans available (both on website and in the information booklet in the room). Myself and my family were really looking forward to this but unfortunately there weren't any. I think this should be updated on your website and info booklet.
