The hotel was good for the price. Close to things in old town.
The hotel was prepared for our booking so check in was very smooth. Staff was very helpful and met all our needs. The front desk staff assisted with tour plans and made good suggestions. Our room was clean and well equipped. It is older facility but for the price it was a very good deal. The breakfast was very similar to our other Thai hotels. The room is equipped with a mini frig with bottle water replenished daily. The location was outstanding between old town and the night market. It is near many restaurants and bars.
We've stayed here before, but this stay reminded us why we'll choose differently in the future. The property is well situated, a reasonably short walk to the ThaPhrae gate in Chiang Mai and close to a number of restaurants bars and coffee shops. Rooms are adequate, and the price is reasonable enough. Breakfast buffet is very ordinary, and they've switched to a wonky Wi-Fi system that requires constant re-entering of login/password, and there were times when it just didn't function. There is a decent swimming pool, but the overall feel of the hotel is of one that has seen its better day. Parking is available, which was one reason I booked here again, but because of a major storm, we decided at the last minute to take a bus instead of driving.
Personnel sans plus. Piscine chauffé. Petit dej a oublié

Great location great price. The room was nice good location. Great Tai massage place next-door. The best tai massage I’ve gotten yet in Thailand.
Mould in shower. Worn out towels. Paint peeling off in extremely large flakes in bathroom. Reception desk never greet the customers. They will not even look up. Poor breakfast. Breakfast coupons have to be asked for every single day even when one has paid for the week.
Good for a few nights
The cleaning staff steal your belongings and the hotel covers it up saying it was thrown out during room cleaning! No need to touch your things.
Hotel is really showing its age. Musky smell coming from bathroom and creaking bedframe. Limited breakfast spread. With so many up-and-coming hotels in Chiangmai, I think there are better options at this price point.
Nothing fancy but great location in old town - just outside of the craziness. Clean rooms, super quiet and walking distance from restaurants and the city center
OK for the price
Stayed at the Wangburapa Hotel on a few occasions. The staff are really helpful and hotel is clean. Great place to stay to view and walk around the old city.
This place is a gem! Fantastic location right in the Chiang Mai square, so clean, staff is amazing and very accomodating. We are coming back!
We returned to the Wangburapa Grand in Chiang Mai in part because of its proximity to the interesting Tha Phae Gate area of the old city, which is near quite a few restaurants, cafes and bars, though construction near the hotel makes walking on the Mun Mueang Road sidewalk a bit treacherous. The front desk staff was friendly enough but kept trying to sell us on Chiang Mai tours we weren’t interested in. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but generally acceptable, though a large Florida-sized cockroach (we used to call them palmetto bugs) invaded one of our bathrooms. And the breakfast buffet was a real comedown after the nice one we had in the Bangkok hotel we had just left, with pretty bad coffee, cold fried eggs and otherwise boring fare. The four of us didn’t use any of our breakfast coupons after the first day. The hotel does have a decent pool.
Hotel is outdated but the staff made it very pleasant to stay.
Very good hotel with walking distance to restaurants and markets. Staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast and pool was nice.
It is good & satisfactory, but NOT as good as 5 star. Reception & kitchen staff are excellent. B.F. very good. I recoment to stay.
Nice hotel, rooms very spacious. Reception staff very helpful, and location of hotel is great. It is a little dated, and my only other note would be to request a room facing the back as it’s quite noisy facing the front of the hotel.
Not a terrible place but very noisy bar/club nearby blasting music late into the night. Also close to the road so noise is an issue.
I enjoyed my stay. Staff are friendly. Property was nice building. I enjoyed their breakfast daily. Very convenient location with easy access to everything.

Wangburapa is my first choice everytime I travel to Old City. The staff are so friendly and helpful. If there is an issue with a room, they accomodate and resolve speedily.
Convenable
It is good to stay with awesome price
Horrible place to stay at I wouldn't receive to my enemies. There are no amenities... not even a washcloth. When i called the front desk for the wifi code she told me she was too busy and hung up the phone. I turned out the old lamp and it didnt work. The best thing was the hot water machineamenities not even a wash loth
Staff good and hotel is clean and situated in good place to see attractions. Only negative point was our room. Although Expedia when I booked it said it was a family room it only had 2 single beds for 3 adults
Staff were great and ideal spot for visiting Chiang Mai. Room only had 2 single beds and we were 3 adults. When booked it was confusing that's why we ended up in a room for only 2 adults.
Very uncomfortable hard beds and pillows
Good location but property showing its age especially the bathroom.
A very decent mid price range hotel, great for foreigners. Just a few minutes walk to Thapae gate and Sunday night market, staff speaks English, rooms are large and clean, great A/C
Great location but no pool service available.
No pool false advertising free breakfast non provided

Although expectations should be tempered for a budget hotel like this, I was surprised at how bad the state of my room was. Upon arrival the toilet was clearly not cleaned, because after the room had been made up the following day the toilet's appearance completely changed from a dark brown hue to white. During the first night I also found a cockroach in the shower - evidently there was little to no effort in cleaning the bathroom before my arrival. To make matters worse, the A/C unit was completely ineffective (I had the cool setting to the max at 17 degrees Celsius and it felt like 30 degrees). Very disappointing even considering the low price - I will most definitely not be staying here the next time I'm in Chiang Mai.
The staff are good and the service is also good but there are things that are just not up to scratch and what is expected. Firstly the car park room for about 16 cars normally unless something is happening in town and then they squeeze twice s many in and its a game to get your car out, Secondly the water all the time there was residue coming through and being deposited into the bowl, wash or clean teeth with water like that? Had to use the drinking water for that. Breakfast was a straight choice 2 eggs a slice of ham and 2 of the small sausages or pork and rice soup. When the locals turned up on Saturday the first choice was gone. Although there was a place for tea only coffee was available. Overall this was a disappointing stay not sure we would use it again, probably not.
This is a fairly typical budget Thai style hotel. I chose it because it was just inside the Old City and had parking. Very easy to get in and out of this hotel if you happen to be self-driving. The room was basic and a bit dated but was clean and comfortable enough. The Wi-Fi, hot water, air conditioning and refrigerator all worked just fine. I was very happy to have a large selection of English Language news stations to watch on a modern flat-screen television. There is a pool on the property that would be wonderful to use during the hot season. The staff was friendly and helpful and made the rooms up every day. At a walk in rate of 500 THB I think this hotel offers a good value. I spent seven nights in the hotel and very well may return again.
Nice hotel, staff are friendly. Place is a bit dated but good. Beds are quite hard so if you need a softer nights sleep try elsewhere. Not tried the pool yet but looks ok. Local amenities are good and Chiang Mai is much quieter than BKK.
15 of us stayed here as part of a group tour. Staff were efficient with good English spoken. Large reception and a room to store luggage if you were too early for check in. Rooms were ample size although the beds and pillows were rock hard ! Pool was nice with seating around, not many sun beds, but I guess most people would be out sightseeing. We never had a problem getting a sun bed or chair. We booked a trip to the White Temple etc from the hotel lobby, the lady there was very helpful and recommended a private tour, so no rushing from place to place, the driver turned up on time and was very courteous, the roads to Chaing Rai were not the best as they were putting in a new roadway, our poor driver negotiated them so well, he deserves full marks as we didn’t get back till later than expected. Hotel is within walking distance of the night markets and nightlife. Nice Sweet Place is a lovely clean cafe 3 mins walk from the hotel, the food is scrummy ! Would definitely stay here again.
Black mold in my shower. Lazy housekeeping, wont use bleach to clean grout which was black from mold. Beds were hard as rocks, the floor would have been softer. Breakfast buffet was exactly the same boring food each morning. Not really good. Walls are very thin, despite no smoking signs everywhere, guests were all smoking in rooms which stank. Not hotels fault. People were always talking loudly in the hallways, a lot of loud Asian guests stay here. Only plus is good location.
The location of the hotel is good, close to the city centre, several temples and the night market. Rooms are tidy but the furniture a bit outdated but may be is only my liking, I love a bit or modern. Checkin was easy and fast and staff was quite friendly.
This hotel sits at the wall of the old city and is centrally located . 5 minutes to the East Gate of the old city , and 3 minute to the south gate night market . The room is nice and the floor is tiled clean , the bath room is good and everything works well , the bed is clean and firm and all the settings OK , people are exceptionally friendly and helpful , they are pleased to serve . The breakfast is nice and generous . There is a pool also where you can hang out and enjoy the sunset. Its near the airport and only cost 120 B by Tuk Tuk or 200 B by Taxi .. THere are many eateries and fruit stands nearby so you dont go hungry . ALso across the street you can wlk down to the night market or open market area and shop till you drop . You can just walk around without calling cab . You can wlk to the two famous old temples in the old town in 30 min , there are many bars and restaurants there also . THe hotel is very classy and a formal hotel with 6 floors and lift . the air cond is cold and if you drive your own car there are parking space . THe price is also on the low side for its vakue offered and I recommend this hotel .
The hotel is centrally located in Chiang Mai. Walking distance to most of the big attractions in Chiang Mai. I was allowed to check in early. I stayed one day before a tour. My other day was with the tour. The room is clean. There is not a lot of lighting in the room. Your key keeps the minimal lighting on (if you come with someone there is only one key). The shower is similar to a handicap shower (use your towels to keep the floor dry). The room comes with free bottles of water. There is a small refrigerator. A small orange contraption to boil the water if you like. I did not use it. The first day I did not purchase breakfast ($6 American dollors or 150 baht). The second day it was included with my tour room. You had 2 choices eggs with ham or a poriage with pork. I don't eat red meat. They made me eggs without ham. There is toast, coffee, and juice. The butter and jam are in a container you use yourself (it looks like it isn't cleaned daily). I figured the jam was safer to eat. I wouldn't pay extra for the breakfast. The staff is nice. They don't go out of their way for you. It isn't a bad place to stay for the price.
Reception and rooms are clean and modern but the beds are rock solid. The pool is a nice amenity but there were only around 6 sun beds which isn’t ideal. Close to many things in Chiang Mai and staff were helpful. Never had any problems with the shower. Breakfast on the other hand was poor. A bad selection of sausages, ham in water and beans etc. Margarine was provided for the toast however it was a large block and so everyone shared from the same margarine, causing bits of toast to get stuck in it. If I were to be in Chiang Mai again, I would consider returning.
Good room, good service, good breakfast, and for a good price.
When we arrived we assumed a basic hotel on a good location. The location is good but that’s about it. The matresses are so hard it feels like you sleep on the floor. The shower had no warm water and no real pressure on the water. Breakfast was terrible, i don’t know what they do with the drinking water at breakfast but it has a very bad taste
Hotel has good location, room's are cousy and the matrresses are top of the top, breakfast nthng special, maybe also a little bit dissapointed for breakfast. But staff at reception are really nice and helpfull, tottaly recommend! Worth of money!
They are have best service. This hotel is the center of chisngmai. It's really cheap price. So clean for room. I like here too much. So private. Wild room. And the toilet is the best for every one. I will go to eat free breakfast. Hope everyone's happy here too.
Been there many times because of business. Everything were average. But water supply has a weird smell(rust) almost every room (told them many times but never fix it). Beds are too hard. Most of staffs are friendly but the one in the night shift can be rude sometimes especially a women who seems like a manager, she has no vision and don't know how to keep customers satisfied at all. Sorry to tell the truth
Overall okey quality hotel, a bit old. Also the beds are hard
Great location! The staff here are very friendly and helpful. This is great value for the money.
My daughter and I were here with a group to volunteer at elephant sanctuaries for a week. The hotel is in a great location for stores, restaurants, the night markets and taxi. The price was good and the food was ok only breakfast is served. The rooms were small and clean, they are older. The beds are not your friend😳😜very hard. This is s great little hotel for a budget. Only negative as I mentioned are the beds.
Beds not comfortable. Area was great. Right in the square where everything is happening and walking distance.
Location is excellent. It’s in the centre of the city. Staff is nice.
The hotel itself is really good for a few days. Service is great, very friendly staff. Breakfast was tasty. Rooms were clean and bed slept fine. Overall a good experience. But, in the lobby there's a wide range of support of elephant trekking and bathing. We don't support animal abuse. If we knew this before, we wouldn't have booked here.
Too much of a business hotel for my taste. The guy at the reception was not welcoming at all, kept watching cartoons on the computer. The kids pool was too deep for my 2-year-old. There is no garden or other play area for children. The hand soap made my hands peel off. Otherwise, clean, in a good shape, good location and good breakfast.
The rooms here are clean, but a little uncomfortable. Our TV didn't work and the staff laughed when we mentioned it. They also mocked us when we asked about various tours they were promoting. Probably would not stay here again.
My 3rd stay here. I like the location. Close to airport. Inside Old City. Secure parking also suits me. Nice small pool. Large comfortable rooms. Probably the worst breakfast in Thailand. But hey. Nothing is perfect
Central location right smack inside old town. Full on breakfast. Very nice staff and a doorman round the clock...Spacious inside compared to most Thai hotels. Spotlessly clean throughout, even the pool although it is quite small. Free and secure parking for your motorbike. I was given an executive suite= huge room, 2 tvs, big fridge and bar suitable for entertaining groups. All new tile work. Very nice place and quiet inside. Beds are super hard though...
Good location Didnt like breakfast, not much variety A bit expensive Very small pool
Located on the moat so not a bad spot. Average dated rooms with very hard beds. Some of the rooms don't have proper windows, more like small slots like you may see in a jail cell. The internet is absolutely horrific. This isn't Kho Tao circa 98. Many better options available.
On our Bamboo group tour we stayed here for a few days,16 of us. Close to all amenities, restaurants, bars and night markets. Breakfast was supplied each morning. Elevator to our floors. Nice pool to relax in after a day of sight seeing or shopping. Locals offering laundry services for a couple of bhart per kilo. Lane ways in walking distance with lovely little bars serving delicious cheap cocktails. Plenty of tuk tuks at your service to take you anywhere. Staff were friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi connections.
Great hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. The hotel is situated in a great spot close to all amenities
Very nice hotel, good breakfast, clean rooms, nice pool Wifi was not good, old fashioned, need many passwords, not so fast. Not a good system.
A very nice hotel to stay in, large rooms, clean and modern. Nice pool, small but pleasant. Free breakfast is not bad. Good location, right near town, but quiet. Staff helpful, no problems. Price is most reasonable, compared to other hotels.
The hotel was quiet. The room was spacious and I love the bed. It wasn't hard as some reviews commented. The travel agent at the hotel was very pleasant and helpful. We booked his service for 2 days and he sent us to the airport without charging us. I would definitely stay here in the future.
-bug infestation -breakfast was pricey and cold +location
Good location easy to get about. Pool was small, room was comfortable. breakfast was
The room all power was shut down in the middnight until claim to the front desk in the morning. There was very hot without air condondithionaer and lightings in the darkness, includes the no battery charges for electlical devices in the room at all.
front desk staff need more traning especially staff name Tommy, overall 2 out of 5
We arrived 2 days earlier then expected and the staff gave us the room for the same rate that had been granted off Wotif even though it was "Songkran".
The hotel is a bit dated - but it is clean and adequate - the pool area is small - but the water is crystal clear. The rooms are large and serviced every day. This is my second stay. It's location is good - only a short 150baht taxi ride from the airport (fixed price). If you use the Red open backed taxi's the fare is only 30 baht anywhere around the city - and they will pick you up and drop you off anywhere. Also only a 15 minute walk to the night market and some local temple's.There's also a good bar just 2 minutes away. It's not the Ritz - but it's clean - comfortable - and the price is good. I would happily stay here if I come back to Chiang Mai
Hotel is old, but the rooms are very clean as well as the pool. The location is excellent. Breakfast is not to special. I would definitely stay again.
Large hotel with pretty big rooms and a pool. Staff was friendly but didn’t speak great English so there were some challenges there but they did the best they could. The man who booked excursions was awesome and very helpful/honest. Room was large and clean. Bathroom had some draining issues and smells but not unbearable at all. Good location and easy walk to the Wall and city center. On the more quite side of the Wall which was perfect tor us
Good breakfast—helpful staff—luggage storage for two months until our return
Will definitely be back again for sure. Great Location, Abundant Parking, View of the Canal from the room, nearby eateries, massage parlors, Friendly Staffs, Refreshing Swimming Pool, & Wifi
If you are looking at paying £20 per night then you cannot complain about this hotel - it is amazing for the money. Good size rooms, comfortable firm mattress (although we didn't like the pillows) hot water in the shower, great A/C, wifi, toiletries, and a swimmimg pool! The pool is not exactly a beautiful setting but it functions, it's clean, and the poolside area has the sunshine all day. Location is right in the thick of it but not at all noisy. If I was looking for a budget option in Chaing Mai again I would stay here again, definitely!
This hotel was conveniently central to the beautiful city that is Chiang Mai - surrounded by a variety of attractions, restaurants and bars. The customer service was average. I remember Eggki as being the most helpful staff member throughout my stay. It is worth paying a little extra for the deluxe room due to the impressive space on offer - the room furnishings are rather old fashioned and the the bathroom is very basic. I'd recommend choosing a room street-side rather than pool-side due to the street-side offering a better view. The swimming pool is to a good standard. I would recommend to those staying in Chiang Mai for the first time due to the affordable price and convenient location.
The hotel was nice, but I booked a standard room for 10 days and my first room had no windows. When I asked to get a room with a window I was told that would cost extra because “standard rooms do not have windows”. When I told them their website does not say anything about a window costing extra and I was upset about being deceived, they gave me a room with a window. However, after that bumpy start I had a lovely stay.
On paper this hotel was perfect for my needsand when I checked in and saw the room I was pleased with my choice, very good for the price. When I sat on the bed and it was the hardest mattress I'd ever encountered. It was late and we'd been traveling so we showered and went to bed for a dreadful nights sleep. Next morning asked the desk about another room and was told all the matresses are the same. a shame everything else was fine but I cannot recommend this hotel to enyone.
