Waves Motel

We loved our King Suite corner room. King sized comfortable bed, as long as you like a fairly soft bed. Plenty of space in both bedroom and living room ( though kitchenette had very little food prep space). Spa bath and loads of hot water. For multi-aspect outside patio and garden, giving sun most of the day, ask for Room 6. Great to have a car park, not car outside our door. Downside: fewer cooking utensils than in many motels and crockery very utilitarian. The pretty circular windows don’t open, but there is air con.

Everything was to our satisfaction nice n clean

Room was very nice, lots of facilities as well incl toaster, jug, coffee, cooker, microwave, couch, 2 chairs and large king bed. Unfortunately the mattress wasnt very good but apart from that very nice. Staff great too!

Location was great for where we needed to be , perfect location if beach was your thing as only 1 min walk if that Motel is a bit dated and the room we had was ground floor and although spacious it had the musty mouldy tropical smell which was not pleasant Staff very helpful as had trouble with door lock Had booked through hotels.com and an arrival package , drink and late checkout was not in room as reception was unaware

Enjoyed our one night this time around. Just a short break for two busy people. Room was clean and facilities adequate. Place needs a bit of tlc, but not bad enough to put us off coming again.

We have stayed many times and love the position and comfort. Friendly and helpful staff. There was a problem with our door making a strange sound which turned out to be caused by the wind. However the manageress upgraded us to a King Room so it didn't keep us awake! Very much appreciated! Will definitely be back!

Matching the unit security code to customers' cell phone numbers is ingenious! The roomy unit layout was convenient, the kitchen sufficient for our needs. Comfortable bed and excellent shower.

Good, clean, handy to town centre & beach. Facilities were adequate for our 1 night stay. Only criticism is the pull-out sofa bed, pretty old and some broken springs - not a comfortable sleep for my daughter. Other beds were good. Amazing bathroom ☺️

Great place looking forward to visiting again

I thought it was a nice motel to stay, was only there for a nigh.t, room was really clean but it had a weird smell, but still nice and clean. The next time i book i would like to try the sun facing rooms or upstairs as it was a bit cold and dark where we stayed, the lady at reception was also very nice and i like that you opened your door with the last 4 digits of your phone number, Thanks WAVE, appreciated our one night stay

Spa Bath was a winner! Friendly receptionist and quiet surroundings. Beach is a walk away!

The room we were given was an accessible room which wasn't a problem, but the bathroom being an open type shower we found it quite unsafe as the water went all over the floor which I feel was rather unsafe and slippery.

Clean and tidy. Unit serviced daily. Close to shops and all amenities. Super close to the beach. Ideal for daily walks. Restaurants, cafés and bars near by, within walking distance. Will definitely stay again. Very pleasant surroundings.

Comfortable, modern rooms (everything appears nearly new) situated just off the wonderful Orewa beach and walking distance of the beach front centre and shops. I would highly recommend to independent travellers with a car.

Liked: Handy to facilities (Orewa shops) and beach. Facilities at the premises were adequate. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean premises. Disliked: Traffic and road noise. Room interior could have done with paint/paper. Enjoyed our stay.

it was ok for a couple of nights Clean TV leaves a lot to be desired. Mainly Netflix and no SKY

Very tired decor and carpets. Bathroom smelled mouldy with visible mould in the grout. Our mattress was very hard, tired and lumpy. Up side is location to the surf beach and a short walk/drive to the shops. Reception staff were friendly. Access to on-site diy laundry facilities if needed. Would not stay again.

Clean & tidy, but seems to be a mixture of new and old decor and paintwork. Great aircon & shower pressure. Friendly staff. Great having a little private patio area. Right by the beach & within walking distance to Town Centre.

Great location a minute's walk from the beach. Room clean and had all the usual amenities. Decor a bit past its best and road noise quite loud during the day as the room faced the main road through Orewa.

Last minute stop at Waves Orewa a very pleasant surprise. Great room (King Studio) very comfy bed - best large bathroom with plenty of vanity space - well equiped. Walking distance to a beautiful beach (300 metres) and the most pleasant and helpful Manager. Was our last stop on our holiday and perfect way to finish!! Highly recommend!

Nice beachfront motel. We were given a bandicapped room without requesting one. Bathroom was a ‘wet’ room w/ in floor drain & slippery tiles. As the motel was completely booked, we didn’t attempt to find or ask if they had a standard king room availble.

We found it strange that the bedroom did not have a window. It was the way the unit was designed but did not like not been able to open a window. Outside in the car park could be tidier to make a more attractive entry.

This is a well-located motel. Not lots of frills, but VERY kind staff.

The place was not clean. Sofa had never been moved to clean. UHT milk. No offer of fresh milk and no one in the office to ask. Remote for TV was out of batteries - no one in office to ask for new ones. Very expensive. There are no lifts to the second floor, and the stairs are outside .

I was on the ground floor and it was just lovely. The garden was very well maintained.

Will be staying again. good host, made things simple and understanding.

We were a stones through from a walk on the beautiful beach...The room was comfortable..and the front desk helped us with getting ice she was fast and courteous

No hot tub in our room even though it was advertise as having one, they did change our room to one with a spa bath but still not have a hot tub , won't book again given the room rate.

A great clean, modern motel with balconies and the fresh air of the sea just a few mins away from your room. Lovely having a spa bath and a good strong hot shower. Things that marked it down were maybe some more blankets and had to ask for the linen for the sofa bed and when delivered no pillow cases. Some of the lights in the kitchen area were not working, they would have made a less harsh light for main living area. Lights

Easy check-in process

The bed was hard and had a lump in the middle, pillows were so low and had no substance. The fridge made loud noises the whole time.

The checkin was the easiest i have ever stayed. Netflix was a bonus.

Excellent check in - I was going to arrive after reception closed but was texted check in details at 1pm that were easy to follow and room was ready and waiting when we arrived.

We really enjoyed our time staying there. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Closed where we'd be.

It’s nice that unit had a spa bath but there were no hand rails to assist getting in & out. The shower was over the tub too which was just too difficult to climb into & nothing to hold onto. Probably wouldn’t stay here again for that reason.

It is a very short walk to the beach and you can enjoy a pleasant stroll along the smooth sand. Located north of the main Orewa shopping area it is still an easy walk to the restaurants. We were upstairs and had glimpses of the sea and the gently breaking waves. We would stay there again.

Great place and location 😃

There is something romantic in folk lore concerning welcome to weary travellers. I arrived at Waves at 6.30pm (hardly the middle of the night) and a sign told me to ring a 'night manager' who could have been anywhere. A big company who doesn't employ a welcomer doesn't deserve my custom.

Well kept motel in a good area close to the beach

Lovely location near the beach, with shops, bars and cafes within walking distance. The room was spacious and clean, looking forward to staying again soon!

Our room was on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator so it’s kind of hassle to carry up all our bags Other that everything else is fine and we like it

Room was big and very comfortable, however somme items in the room looking very "tired" and ready for replacement. Minimal contact with staff, they did not interact with me or appear friendly at all.

Clean, tidy, comfortable, easy access to beach and town.

Amazing place to stay, <1 minute walk to the beach, clean, large rooms, great service, great use of technology for the keys to the room doors. My only complaint was that the electrical switchboard made a buzzing sound and as it was in the bedroom it was a little annoying when going to sleep.

The beds were terrible to sleep in, The kids (teenagers) beds were given a fold out sofa to sleep in we ended up putting the mattress on the floor with several blankets off the bed so they could have a decent sleep. For $1000 for 3 nights it was not cool at all. The lady that was cleaning the rooms was really nice.

Great location close to the beach, supermarket, shops and eating options. Great to have air conditioning and a kitchen, this motel is great for families and for exploring the beaches in the area.

On arrival, parking was available and check in was easy. The room had everything we needed, and the bed was comfortable. The spa bath was fabulous. We'd stay there again.

Amazing refreshed rooms, with great staff and moments away from the beach. Had a little road noise but really cannot complain it was such an awesome spot!!

Studio room very cosy, opens to your own private outdoor patio, bed was super comfortable and a large bathroom with perfect size spa bath, Netflix entertainment to enjoy, walking distance to the beach 1 minute walk.

It was easy to find and the property was nice.

Pleasant staff easy check in and good location but the property could do with a good clean to get rid of the green slime on stairs and leaves in the corridors …

A comfortable one night stay after stress-contending with traffic jams from up north. Check in was quick & easy and necessary to input the pin code for the electronic lock to enter the room. Tip - choose 4 numbers close together for faster access. The access pad is a round circle and sometimes difficult to input consecutive numbers quickly if on opposite sides of the circle. Inside is a separate King size bedroom and lounge/Kitchen of 1990s era which does look a bit tired but still tidy. Kitchen is well stocked but no dishwasher & seemed to be no dishwashing detergent. Ranchslider access to private courtyard was nice. Bedroom is nicely furnished but no heat pump so in winter, will need to leave the door open to get heat from the lounge. Conversely there's no openable windows so only solution is to leave the door open for fresh air. Bathroom is large with spa bath & spacious vanity however the bath doubles as a shower with high sides to clilmb over and no grabrails. For the elderly, its a serious hazard and a Health & Safety issue. Bath is slippery as well but luckily there was a non slip mat available. Heated towel rail was not working and ceiling fan struggling to extract the moist air. Sliding door does get stuck when closing. Points off for overall cleanliness with dust on headboard. Location is close to the beach although its not the main beach but shops and cafes are only 10 minutes walk.
