Great location. Comfortable and lovely grounds. Fab to have the pool to use.
Nothing
Warm welcome friendly staff . Location amazing close to nice walks into Cromer through woods and cliffs . Rooms are lively and clean , staff very helpful and friendly. Food was fantastic and the massage in the hut was exceptional thanks to Becky . Nothing was too much trouble .
The shower was out dated and not very powerful , also had to step into bath tub so could do with updating that . The lighting in the room was very dim too .
The staff were very attentive We had a comfortable stay and the food in the restaurant was delicious.
All good, thank you
I enjoyed the peace and quiet and closeness to the sea
The background music in general areas was intrusive and not in keeping with the atmosphere and style of athe Grove
NOTHING
When booking , I expected a Cottage for £168 PER NIGHT, But was gobsmacked to be shown, a room with a shower and bed, with NO BASICS, ( ie no iron or ironing board, and no fridge ) absolutely shocking. I did raise My concerns with duty Manager on Wednesday morning, who had no answer to My query of £168 per night. I again raised My concerns with Owner Chris Graveling, explaining on doing research, I could of booked a self accomodation at a property called The Retreat for £170 FOR THREE NIGHTS, with fully fitted kitchen and living room, Mr Graveling response was " Maybe I should of booked there ", Totally unprofesional . So £506 lighter, plus traveling costs from Tyneside to See My unwell Sister, I am still realing from this daylight robbery.
The Stables was clean and all that you would expect from a quality venue. The Manager took the time to walk me to The Stable, point out the parking space, and take time to show me how to use the coffee machine. I still didn't use it
The front door couldn't be locked and I forgot to tell the receptionist.
Not a lot.
The Manager was very unprofessional and ruined our stay. We had room 7 first room at top of the stairs it was like a corridor you could hear everything downstairs from when morning service started. We arrived and asked if we would like to book a slot for the pool which was disappointing as times were early morning or 18.30 in the evening.
We have stayed before and only had one issue with a certain member of staff. The grove is a lovely hotel, but it really does depend on who you get as a staff member. Sadly, we had another run in with the same lady we did previously which spoiled the whole booking. When you pay nearly £700 for one night, you’d expect a lot better service.
The same staff member who seems determined to create stress for customers. You don’t expect to go away for a family break and get belittled by a pedantic staff member who clearly has an attitude problem. The arrogance and sarcasm was unbelievable. We’d rather return to The Red Lion in Cromer than face this lady at The Grove. Such a shame as the rest of the staff are brilliant and know how to treat their customers. Sadly for the grove, they have one lady there who creates unnecessary stress and drama. Wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for a relaxing stay.
breakfast
Comfortable room in the garden area Friendly staff and delicious meals
Staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is lovely with a great bar area. The swimming pool and tippi tent with pizzas and tapas was a definite bonus.
The bathroom was clean but there was hair in the plug hole, toilet could have been cleaner, dirt on the bed blanket and our table at breakfast was sticky. My husband noticed thick dust underneath the breakfast bar. These points seem picky for such a lovely place but for the price per night I would have expected it to be spotless.
The staff were friendly and polite. I got shown to my room which was nice as don't get that anymore. My room was perfect for me as a solo traveller. Comfy and warm. Nice view out the window over looking the grounds of the hotel. Only a 15-20 minute walk to the Town Centre.
Everything was amazing
Very good and plenty of choice
Great location, comfortable beds and very cool in the heatwave. Love the use of the pool - 45minutes exclusive use!
The upstairs windows frames needed cleaning ao they could be opened without dirt and debris falling in. We had to ask where to empty the bins. The back garden wasnt clear that it was shared so taken over by the family in The Barn.
Location was great Restaurants/ food good quality
Parking was tricky when we arrived Shower was dated
Comfortable, and very quiet bedroom. Excellent breakfast. Lovely setting and general feel to the place. I have stayed here a few times and always enjoy it.
Nothing really
Stayed in a small cottage on the hotel grounds for a short break. Hotel is separate and is an impressive country house. There is also Glamping on site in the extensive gardens. Easy walk to the town centre and beaches but far enough out ot be away from the bustle.
Nothing comes to mind.
5 mins to cliff top, beautiful walk
Nothing
The history of the Grove is fascinating. Our room was a smaller room but we had everything we needed for our one night stay. The restaurant was superb as were the cocktails we had pre dinner. This hotel is within walking distance to Cromer seafront which is approximately a 10minute walk.

I liked the setting and the freedom of The Grove, the pool was lovely and relaxing and the sea is close by, lots of nice seating areas in the gardens, would definitely stay again
There was nothing that I didn't like
It’s a lovely place and the gardens and rooms are beautiful
Nothing
Beautiful place to stay Lovely room Lovely grounds
Very warm and helpful welcome.
Room felt a bit old fashioned.
Location
Didn’t have a fridge in the room
Quiet , peaceful clean and comfortable.
Great location and nice outdoor facilities and grounds. Breakfast was great and main rooms are lovely. Loved the free electric car chargers!
Room was dated and in need of a facelift.
Lovely location
All good
Very nice place Staff very helpful Food was very nice
Nothing it was excellent
Comfortable traditional rooms in a quiet location
The advance booking of time slots for meals ensured steady service but it felt restrictive
We stayed in Garden rooms, very peaceful.
Bath not walk in shower
Nothing was too much trouble. Brilliant staff
Nothing
Stayed in a self catering cottage had everything I needed. Was a quiet place very pleasant with own garden area to sit in. Clean and very comfortable enjoyed my stay.
Beautiful place minutes drive from the pier, stunning bedroom, bathroom, restaurant, sitting room, garden... Lots of character and history, beautifully decorated, Very nice swimming pool. Plenty of parking space.
The large bed was a bit too soft for us. Misunderstanding with the nice waitress at dinner.
Everything really ticked all our boxes
Nothing
Little touches like information about the room and the original house. The grounds and kitchen garden are quiet and well kept. Restaurant was superb.
The path to the sea was hard to find and I got a bit lost in the woods. 😂
Good location Breakfast was very good and the sea trout at dinner was superb. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. check in and out was quick and easy.
Mattress was very firm.
Super friendly staff. Perfect location. Lovely property. Having the swimming pool to yourself is a real bonus.
Nothing.
The staff were very professional and efficient. We were upgraded on arrival to a great room, large with a big ensuite containing a claw foot bath - luxurious! We had dinner there which was excellent and breakfast was also faultless. The hotel boasts a pool which we had booked exclusive use of for 45 mins, a lovely experience after a hard day walking
Nothing
Fabulous breakfast but it was not included in the price. I enjoyed my morning swim in the pool, walk to the beach and wander around the veg garden and greenhouse.
The shower wan't very powerful...
Everything is awesome!!
Can’t say anything
Lovely location and nice scenic walk into town - lovely hotel and facilities - unfortunately didn’t book for swim so couldn’t get to have one but have booked another stay in August so hoping to get one in then. Food marquee on the grounds good too
Booking for swim go idea but wished they’d have explained it and asked / emailed for us to book it before we arrived
Great room with history. Good size bed and bath. Nice views from window. Great setting and location
No bottle water supplied in room. No spare toilet rolls and the sink in bathroom was blocked.
Country House Hotel with great extra facilities. The Sundown bar and tapas/pizza restaurant in the grounds is a gem.
Delicious breakfast and excellent location
The best accommodation I’ve stayed at! I can’t fault it. Helpful staff. Beautifully kept gardens and a short walk through the woods to Comer beach.
We stayed in a self catering cottage which was very nice.
Nothing.
room spot on breakfast great staff always helpful
nothing
Location, breakfast was nice
The quality wasn’t quite there….the staff who’ve been there a while as per, awesome…,,some of the newer came across as aloof, brusque and disinterested…not a good look…..
Great location and the main building was beautiful. Good food out in the teepee.
The cottage where we stayed was a little tired. Particularly the bathroom
Everything was exceptional. The atmosphere and vibe was chill but luxurious.
Location was good
It was a garden lodge, with blankets and dog bowls inside. (Fine if we were taking a dog). Very dark and depressing room that had a dozen lights and 3 lamps on, to try and give the room more light. But worst of all a very strong smell of dogs pee. We then left the room and found another place to stay.
Great friendly staff , food was good and the quiet location was perfect
The Grove team couldn't have been more understanding when we requested a specific room set up. 'Mrs Page's' was a beautiful cottage in which to stay: nostalgic, well-appointed and SO comfortable. Free parking was also very helpful and we appreciated the peace and quiet of the grounds.
Nothing.
Location and very friendly staff
Can’t think of anything
Classy
Friendly staff, warm and clean accommodation close to Cromer centre. A perfect destination in Cromer
All good, no real drawbacks, great and secure bike storage as well.
I got told on my email that we was staying in a one bedroom bungalow but we had a one bedroom house .
Room was suitable and comfortable all my needs were met.
Location. Excellent staff.
Very dated. Menus were out of date
Everything! The pool was great especially as you could hire it out to yourselves. The food in the restaurant was incredible! The room was quirky and we loved all of the old antiques. The bed was so comfortable! Friendly staff, beautiful grounds, easy parking and only 10 minutes from the beach... what a wonderful hotel!
Nothing!
The 2-bed cottage was pleasant, enough space for a small family, kitchen well equipped and laid out. I particularly enjoyed opening the main bedroom window and listening to the birds, and the sound of the sea in the distance.
Having booked on Booking.com it appears I wasn't offered the same level of advance access to the facilities (swimming pool) which is privately booked, there is no information about this on the website or via emails (which other guests said they received when booking directly) and generally left really disappointed I had paid a premium to access the facilities which were all fully booked on arrival with the exception of a late booking unsuitable for young children. When I questioned this, I was repeatedly told I would've received a booking form, but I absolutely did not, and with no suitable alternative, it left me feeling like the value was poor. We did receive a "cancellation" for the pool, but 45 minutes is not particularly long with young children including changing time, and as this was a cancellation, and not a proactive problem solve from the hotel, I still feel disappointed. I was also frustrated that an adjoining cottage had a noisy/yappy dog which was often heard - albeit a minor interference compared to the above.
Great location to walk into Cromer town. Decent rooms.
Our room was at the top of the stairs so could hear everyone going up and down and in the dining area.
Lovely grounds and great breakfast. Location and setting were nice.
In the Coach House, the sofa was tired and seemed broken. The shower was terrible. No pressure and unusable.
The team at the Grove were exceptional - friendly and helpful. Although we paid extra for breakfast it was splendid. The restaurant is also super for evening meals - a real treat.
Location was excellent
Nothing it was all great!
Really lovely hotel, comfy beds and clean.
Nothing
Has good olde worlde charm, this was not our first visit and won’t be the last. Has great food, excellent staff and was very clean. Being able to book the pool just for us was a bonus loved it. The whole ambiance is supported by its beautiful rustic location.
The only complaint we can make is that the pillows weren’t that comfortable for us but we loved room 11 and it’s huge bed.
Beautiful place, so peaceful
Cozy room in a lovely quiet setting with a very nice short walk to the cliff coastal path and the seafront in Cromer. Peaceful and relaxing-just what I was after. Staff were uniformly friendly and welcoming too
Can’t think of anything
Everything, staff were very friendly and kind, the room was perfect, the bed was very comfy
I like a cottage environment rather than a hotel room
Everything was as expected
Beautiful location, friendly helpful staff , comfy clean bedding/ bed. Had a meal from the bar menu, absolutely beautiful, highly recommend the food there.
Bar area too small, could hear every one else's conversations, , limited variety of alcoholic drinks,
The history of the building made it feel like stepping back in time. The pool was a great added bonus. Room was spacious and clean
Nothing
Loved the atmosphere in bar and resteraunt service was very good and meal was outstanding !
The shower in the coach house was not powerful enough and parking at the coach house required walking through mud to get to and from room
All of it was awesome.....the place, the people, the setting and the room
Nothing
Good location
The booking didn’t inform us that it was self catering and no cleaning would happen and the oven didn’t work in our bungalow so couldn’t cook food. The pool was very booked up and massages and we wasn’t informed in advance that people book two weeks before arrival for this or would have done so. The lunch we had on the first day took ages to come out and they forgot our drinks and had to keep chasing. No one came to check in on us , we had to keep chasing.
