The dinner was excellent as usual. The breakfast was lovely as always. Our bedroom was as requested.
There was nothing I didn’t like about this wonderful hotel.
Beautiful Victorian hotel and was very clean rooms were lovely too.
you had to pay €30 per person to used the spa facilities i thought this was ridiculous considering we paid considerably a lot for a 2 night stay. Dinner finished serving at 8pm too early in my opinion we only got back at 8pm one evening and couldn’t get food so we had to go in to Bantry to get food. The Showers could do with upgrading, in our bathroom the screen was small and the floor got wet each time.
The location and the old house feel
Food was terrible , I asked for simple scrambled eggs for breakfast and I couldn’t eat them , they tasted of other food. My friend had a “full irish “ which wouldn’t fill a child
Location, quaint property, with old fashioned, friendly and warm service
No lift. No electric charging point.
Locatie
Not much, except the gorgeous landscape
The room was ridiculously worn out including a shower head fixed with cable binders.
Staff were very polite and helpful. Rooms were perfectly clean and had a very comfortable bed. Food was excellent. Great value. Would definitely stay there again.
Everything was perfect.
Breakfast was great and service was excellent.
I cannot comment on the quality of the dinner as we dined elsewhere, we looked at the menu and decided it was not for us based on the type of food offered and the price. The room was nice and the hotel itself was nice, bathrobes and slippers in the room were a nice touch. The breakfast staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was tasty and there were plenty of options. The hotel building and I suppose what would be described as period decor are lovely. Plenty of parking spaces to the hotel rear and the hotel's location between Glengariff and Bantry perfect.
Our room had twin beds and not a double as we had expected, the beds themselves were rather uncomfortable and one even leaned to the side, the shower was part of the bath tub and the bath tub itself very slippy (there was a shower mat which we discovered hidden in the under sink unit after we had used the shower). The water release valve in the bathroom sink was broken. The Irish breakfast was tasty but not very generous. On check in procedure was interrupted rather rudely by what appeared to be a manager, the check in clerk was giving us the key to a room when the rude "manager" instructed him to give us another room which we found strange. We are both keen gardeners and from the description of the hotel's gardens we had expected a lot more that what was actually there. The garden is nice but the descriptions of it exaggerated.
Breakfast was excellent, and staff at breakfast excellent
There was a smell of must in sitting room and my spa treatment i was disappointed with, it was tge mud bath but my friends had different ones and they enjoyed them
The breakfast!
Location and style
Long drive from Dublin
Such friendly staff, gorgeous food, spotless. Loved every minute of the stay. Great location for bantry and glengariff / garnish island etc
Breakfast was good. Comfy bed. Pretty grounds. Friendly staff.
Lack of comms between Booking.com and hotel about bringing a guest. Hotel supposed to be dog friendly but that just means dog can be in your bedroom (seems not much for 30 Euros per night), nothing more. We got a room on the second floor, nothing a dog friendly one.
Location
Internsl access no lifts
The peaceful surroundings and hotel emvirons created a lovely relaxing atmosphere. Quiet location in close proximity to Bantry town. Staff were friendly and very professional .
There was nothing I didnt like
Breakfast is good. The rooms are of the classical elegance vein, and are well done.
The parking at the hotel is chaotic, with no paving on the lots and cars parked all over the place. We had difficulty finding somewhere to park.
Beautiful hotel , staff go above and beyond to be helpful, especially Lydia who is wonderful!
Wonderful staff - honestly couldn’t nicer Amazing food especially the breakfast
Nothing
The hospitality is exceptional, wonderful spa facilities, try the seaweed bath to revive yourself after a good days walking, stunningly effective. The dinner was delicious as was breakfast, this was our favourite stay while in Ireland.
Nothing
Easy access from the road
Meal was adequate but expensive. No pedestrian access to sea shore because of road. Room was cold
Excellent facilities, lovely staff and excellent food
Dog friendly
N/A
This was the perfect dog friendly hotel.
Nothing - all very nice
The atmosphere, the views, the food and staff of course were all exceptional. Very relaxing and the hotel is a beautiful building
Na
Such a picturesque setting with beautiful gardens. A sense of luxurious comfort and and attention to detail that is lacking in modern hospitality. Exceptionally tasty food. All of this and we could bring our furry best friend to enjoy it with us too.
The hotel was lovely
Sitting room was a bit cold but I was informed that they were having problems with it.
Everything was Exceptional, the owner and staff, were so pleasant , attentive and helpful . Perfect and idyllic setting ,, fabulous ambiance and positive energy, homely and very comfortable.
Nothing. It was Exceptional
Location was excellent and beautiful
Breakfast, full irish was not the best, black pudding was hard and sausages were drab.
The hotel runs with the efficiency of a well-oiled machine. The staff are polite and very attentive while the food is to a very high standard overall. Our room was cosy and clean, although the absence of a lift can prove problematic for anyone with a disability. Well located, the hotel affords easy access to the surrounding area. Overall, the hotel exudes a homely feel, offering good food, attentive service and comfortable accommodation.
Large comfortable room, plenty of space for our dog. Very friendly staff. Superb food. Lovely location.
For an awarded dog friendly hotel, it was surprising that there was no public rooms in the hotel where we could sit with our dog, except for a tiny conservatory.
The building and surroundings are really nice. For lovers of traditional houses, this is a good place to spend some time.
The room I got was smaller than expected. Heat in the room stops during the night, and windows are not sealed properly. Breakfast could use some variation. Though, good quality. Quite expensive for the offering.
Very accomodating as wife a bit difficulty with mobility so organised ground floor room. Evening meal was superb. Rack of lamb to die for Breakfast excellent with fresh and local produce available. We had no pets but is dog friendly and other guests had a dog and were very happy
Food, staff and service outstanding
Bathroom a little tired, could do with an upgrade but still spotlessly clean
Peaceful area.
Paid on arrival , when we were checking out we were asked to pay again ( we said we payed ) they said it was ok but after tried to charge our card again . Followed to our car and asked us to come back up , they realised we payed already and thought it was funny . Very unprofessional .
The hotel is a bit of the beaten track, which is great since there's not going to be much noise. Located just outside of Bantry, you're a 5 minute drive from the town. The hotel is splendid. It's beautiful, outside and inside. Rooms are big (we did have the Jr Suite), well appointed and charming. We even had a door to the garden, which was great since we're travelling with a dog. The room even has a top notch nespresso machine... very helpful in the morning. Breakfast was very good, all inclusive with a buffet and on order any type of hot breakfast, and of course a full Irish breakfast. They have a very nice and modern spa facility, including seaweed bath.
Beautiful grand old hotel in a very nice location. Very nice staff. Good restaurant. And very nice for our little dog. Had a great stay.
Amazingly friendly staff - nothing was too much. Good food, particularly the breakfast, well presented. Had the feel of a comfortable country hotel from another era.
Nice location, friendly staff, lovely grounds, very nice breakfast
The rooms were a bit old-fashioned, beds much too soft and the room was extremely hot even though it wasn't particularly warm outside
We had a lovely dinner, it was exellent and thebreakfast was very nice too. Our room was nice with a lovely view of the garden.
The breakfast was superb. There was great variety and the staff were most obliging. It was lovely to have a really hot breakfast and there was no problem in getting more. We didn't take the dinner option. The room was lovely and spacious. As we were on a relaxing break, the space was great for us to sit around and feel relaxed. We didn't feel under pressure at any stage during our stay.
The tea and coffee facilities were only average. Very little milk provided and even on our second day, the milk wasn't replaced and we had to get our own milk.
It was a lovely location and the staff were very friendly.
The quality of the food and facilities did not reflect the price of the stay. We didn't feel that it presented good value for money.
Lovely place. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was very good. We also used the spa and had a good experience there. Would definitely stay here again.
The rooms could do with a bit of an update. Still very comfortable though.
Delightfully old world charm, immaculate gardens, lovely staff, spacious rooms
Only on vegetarian main choice for dinner on menu and it didn’t change over our 4 night stay.
A very enjoyable stay. I had my dog with me and the accommodation was ideal. The staff were lovely and friendly. The food was delicious.
Lovely peaceful location Lovely food and really nice staff
The only thing I didn’t enjoy was dessert pear and almond tart it wasn’t nice very dry Dinner was fabulous and breakfast was also delicious
Thank you for a lovely experience
Nice staff, lovely location and lovely spa (we had the sea weed baths and it so relaxing)
The food was nice but standard fare. Which is a pity as I was expecting something special based on the reviews. Just a little feedback and don’t want to be too fussy but I was asked how i would like my lamb and I said medium but I got it well done.
Gardens and surroundings are beautiful
Staff were slow with service. Very kind but not so attentive. Shower really frustrating. It did not fit in the receiver properly so it kept moving from it's position. It was easier to just hold it.
The location was ideal for trips to Glengarriff and the Ring of Beara. The staff were very pleasant.
We visited this property many years ago and found it slightly faded now.
Hotel lovely. Code for front door would not work
Great location to start the ring of Beara with comfy bed and delicious dinner!
All was great! The only watch out is about dinner options. If you don’t want to drive id like to advise the dinner in the hotel - which was delicious. The only other walking option is the Mannings emporium, that do tapas in the summer, but you need to reserve ahead (couple of days) as they have only very limited seating options. Their code is great!
