Reviewed Sep 16, 2026The hotel was very clean and the rooms super big! The hotel is also perfectly located and is very quiet even though it is right beside shops and bars.
The breakfast was only between 7am and 9am which was a little too early for us most mornings but that was totally fine for us.

Reviewed Aug 14, 2026The location is good, you can easily get to many tourist attractions. The room is fully soundproof, which I think is kinda rare for Japanese hotels. They offer Japanese-style breakfast, so if you are a fan of it, add it to your considering list. The room is also spacious with fully separated bathroom.
The facilities are old, but it really did not disappoint me. The problem is they are poorly maintained. I found mold in the air condition and some other corners in the room. The edge of the bed is also peeling. And the cons of a soundproof room is that it is very stuffy, you must let the ventilator on 24/7 - which only enabled when you put the room key in the switch.

Reviewed Jul 18, 2026Hotel super bem localizado, quarto enorme, chuveiro muito gostoso, funcionários muito educados. Preço achei muito bom sendo que reservei na véspera e eu me hospedei bem no dia do Festival de Gion!
As instalações são antigas, muita gente vai achar que deveriam reformar o hotel, mas eu acho que perderia o charme do lugar.

Reviewed Jul 2, 2026El hotel está restaurado y tiene un estilo retro de los años sesenta. Es muy tranquilo y acogedor y la zona es preciosa. Las habitaciones son muy, muy espaciosas y aunque se nota que el edificio tiene sus años, la restauración es perfecta y está muy bien cuidado. Repetiría el mismo hotel sin dudarlo.
El desayuno es de estilo japonés pero muy justo. No hay posibilidad de comer otra cosa y no es tipo bufet salvo la sopa de miso y el arroz. Salvo en el check-in y en el comedor para los desayunos, no vi a nadie más del personal del hotel, lo que me hace pensar que no está muy atendido. No obstante, no tuve problema alguno.

Reviewed Jun 26, 2026The location was excellent. A taxi can’t drop you off in Front, but they could direct you how to get to it. It’s about a block in small streets. It was close to the bus, subway, and Gion District. I saw many geishas on my walk home to the hotel.
It did not appear to be clean. The hallway carpets on the first floor and on the fourth floor (where I was staying) were very dirty. The rug and the rooms were dark, so it was hard to tell if it was clean or dirty. You were advised to wear slippers once entering the room. But the slippers seemed a little old. The bathroom area was very clean.

Sauberkeit, Rezeption nie besetzt. Völlig liebloser Frühstücksraum. Verdreckte Teppiche im gesamten Hotel. Verwahrlostes Inventar im Zimmer. Ecklige verschmutzte Betten. Alter verklebter Dreck an der Bettablage. Optisch abstossendes Badezimmer. Klimaanlage katastrophal, unsere 3er Gruppe musste den ganzen Tag niesen, Hsusstaubmilben, verdreckte ungewartete Klimaanlage???? Fotos auf Booking.com müssen aus Eröffnungszeiten stammen. Früstück war optisch nicht sehr ansehlich, Kaffee, Reis und Misosuppe war passabel.

Reviewed May 22, 2026De locatie is top! Je loopt zo naar allerlei mooie tempels, naar de rivier en door de leuke straatjes van Gion. Daarnaast zit je naast een station. De kamers zijn heel ruim, dat was super fijn! Ook een fijn bad.
Niet zo veel eigenlijk, Sommige dingen zijn een beetje gedateerd, maar was allemaal nog goed te gebruiken.

Very unsafe for kids and adults with dangerous stone platforms jutting out on floor and near sofa. My son hit his head while just sitting on the sofa not realizing the white marble platform was protruding over the sofa back. Lot of random steps in the room also. Breakfast was entirely Japanese with no options for vegetarians other than juice and rice.

Reviewed Apr 22, 2026Rooms were large for Japan. Comfortable beds, simple Japanese breakfast, and great location in a quiet Gion neighborhood. Thoughtful self service amenities. Towels are a bit old and thin but we didn’t mind. The most direct way to get to the hotel was taking bus 206 directly from Kyoto station (assuming you don’t have large bags.) We walked to 2 different subways stations, Pontocho Alley and many restaurants and shops. Lovely stay. We would stay here again.

Unfortunately the place smells of smoking. Our bedroom itself didn't smell that bad, but the small entryway to our room did and so did the lifts and corridors. The place is straight out of the 80s which means the carpets and decor all need replacing. Unfortunately ot had a somewhat offputting vibe. The 'jacuzzi' in the room was out of order and the shower had black spots of mould on it. We didn't feel very comfortable here for a family stay.

Reviewed Apr 9, 2026We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The room was spacious, lots of amenities to pick from the lobby and take to the room. The hotel is situation in a quiet Gion area, so very walkable to the Gion station. The staff was super helpful and friendly :)
The breakfast wasn’t for us. Our beds were uncomfortable but bare-able. After walking 20K steps a day, we were just thankful we had a bed to sleep in and conked out as soon as we tucked in!
