Sadly our room smelt like cigarette and sweat. It had this smell that was disturbing. They clean really well and specific but I think it is something to do with the carpets or air conditioning’s. It would be nice if they did like a wash on the carpet or air conditioning’s. To freshen up the place like changing maybe curtains new set of paint and carpets.

Нет зоны для курения.

The room was extremely cold and every night we had to go to the reception (there wasn’t a phone in the room) to ask them to regulate the temperature, since there was not a way to do it ourselves. The bathroom was so small that even taking a shower was difficult.

Je kon niet ergens je waterfles vullen, alleen onder het kleine kraantje op je kamer.

Reviewed Aug 9, 2026Location and price were amazing! Great water pressure, air conditioning worked amazingly well in August. We stayed here for 5 days. It was our home base for our day trips in/around Kyoto. We spent very little time in the room other than sleeping and showering, so it was perfect for us. If you want to hang in the room more, you might opt for something with more of a view.
Showers a bit small, but generally normal by Japanese standards.

La habitación fue horrible, la peor de todo el viaje a Japón, hacía una humedad tremenda incluso con el aire acondicionado, no secaba nada. El olor a moho al entrar te entraban ganas de vomitar. estaba todo chorreando, la moqueta del suelo, las sábanas... Ni con el purificador de aire, ni con el aire acondicionado a tope se secaba nada... Nuestras maletas y todo su contenido se mojaron y olía fatal todo nuestro equipaje limpio. Fue horrible. Y nunca había nadie en recepción a las horas que entrabamos o salíamos para dar las quejas. No volvería jamás.

The room was fairly clean, but there were a few areas that could have been cleaned better. Please pay more attention to cleanliness. The staff were very friendly and professional, and they kindly let us leave our luggage before check-in.

The subway and bus routes to all of the other major attractions was less than a 5 minute walk. The rooms were large by Japanese standards and incredibly comfortable. The staff was polite and easy to communicate with.

La habitación era demasiado pequeña. Apenas podíamos movernos. Si hubiéramos llevado una maleta, no habría cabido.

Reviewed Jul 9, 2026The Laon Inn Gion Nawate was in a great location with many major sights in easy walking distance and the train station a short walk away. The staff were mostly friendly. The room was small but had enough space for our cases and there was a separate bathroom and toilet. It was very quiet.
The air conditioning only had one level - arctic - which we could not cope with. Extra blankets were offered but we do not react well to harsh air con so preferred to sleep with it off.

Su ubicación es totalmente excelente, en pleno barrio de Gion, de yasaka shire, pagoda, pontocho, rio Kamo... y justo al lado la estacion para ir a cualquier sitio y pelin mas alejada para ir a otros tantos. Magnífico.
La ventana no tenía vistas, enfrente a un palmo había una pared. Pero al menos servía para ventilar y respirar aire exterior.

The location is indeed very central (and so busy/noisy depending on which way your room faces). My room was a good size and the bed & pillow were very comfy.
It was a bit hard to find because the sign outside the door says "plus" on it, which was not indicated anywhere online. My room did have a bit of an odor (kind of a smoked fish smell) but not terrible.

Leider kein Safe und die Klimaanlage ist direkt über dem Bett. Mag ich nicht so.

Reviewed Jun 8, 2026The room was very clean and in a great location. In just 5 minutes you are basically in the heart of Kyoto and in just 2 minutes you are at the metro station. There is also a great restaurant right beside the hotel which had amazing gyozas.
the street next to our room was quite busy and had people talking very loudly until late at night. Additionally, one night there was road work done in that street that went on till like 5 in the morning ruining that night of sleep for us. Obviously, the hotel can't really do a whole lot against road work, but the overall bussiness of the bar that we slept above should have been mentioned at some point.
