Everything we could have hoped for, very nice room
Only one very slight thing was towel rail was off so they stayed wet but not a major issue just took it from a 10 to a nine
The breakfast was good. A choice of dishes.
Room and bathroom not cleaned on second day
Hele gezellige sfeervolle pub op een super locatie. Lekker rustig en mooie kamer.
Great room with a large balcony overlooking the garden and views of the lake. Excellent food with a good choice.
Cafetières at breakfast didn't work well - filters need attention.
Excellent location, very clean and comfortable. Nice easy walk down to the edge of Rutland Water. Food was exceptional and the staff were very friendly and polite as well as being professional.
Only that our room was above the kitchen and overlooked the bins.
Comfortable inn with character. Great walks from the inn.
All good
Lovely hotel, food was excellent and rooms very comfortable.
Lovely staff, comfortable rooms and great food in the restaurant. Cosy pub. Would definitely return

Clean and comfortable. Food excellent. Room ok.
The manager was rude to his employees. We should not have been witness to this. He was very arrogant with the customers as well. Sorry you need to up your game, even if you are stressed. We should have had a room with the view of the lake we didn’t. Not even a partial view. Not good.
Beautiful location and excellent food
Remember to heed the warnings and shut windows. Lots of midges!!
Location & decor
Service was poor at times, food was expensive but average
Very welcoming staff. Very helpful. Excellent well appointed facilities. Good decoration. Super bed.super towels. Excellent restaurant
Everything. Location overlooking Rutland water with fantastic refurbed bedrooms. Lovely restaurant with great cooks! Breakfast was amazing and the staff were xtra friendly
Nothing
Breakfasts very pleasant and dinner was super
The room (number1) overlooked the pub courtyard so was rather noisy on our first evening until the sun went down. The bathroom though modern fittings and large wasn’t designed too well and the extractor not effective so a a slight damp feel to it.
Small car park filled with non residents so insufficient room for resident guests. Lack of air conditioning in bedroom
We love this hotel - the staff, hotel, restaurant (food sublime!) and the location. And we loved the complimentary bottle of Old Fashioned spirit and card left for us in our room Thank you
Its all great to us
Great room and terrace
It was perfect! Very clean and the staff was friendly.
Only thing was breakfast service. Coming from London we are not usually used to just ordering a main for breakfast unlimited and its usually a buffet service. So when we asked please could you explain how the ordering works the response felt like it was obvious but it wasn't - also strange as we were asked if we could speak English!
Great country pub right on the Hambleton peninsula of RW with. very comfortable accommodation and excellent food.
Couldn’t open the windows at night-but that’s the geography of the location rather than anything to do with the establishment. (Midges from Rutland Water)- not nearly as bad as Scotland so not really a problem for us southerners😀
Gorgeous room (upgraded - thank you!), great beer garden & delicious food in the restaurant.
Great location very clean and lovely atmosphere
Exceptional place to stay
Good location and facilities
Restricted on site parking
Looked after very well
Small car park. Had to park 100yards up the road . Double lines on the road
Great location, lovely outside area
Rooms were very hot but it was a heatwave
Fantastic little hotel in a beautiful village. Great food, keen staff and stylish rooms
There was quite a lot of noise early morning as our room was above the rear entrance from deliveries and staff arriving for work

Nothing
Great hotel with recent tasteful decoration and upgrade. Staff very efficient and friendly. Very relaxing vibe in the restaurant and garden the staff all went the extra mile to make us very welcome
Not much but minor things like maybe a fridge in the room and tea bags and decaf coffee pods were missing in the room but nothing major.
Wonderful location gorgeous building with friendly and helpful staff. Keen to return!
Nothing whatsoever.
Beautiful location on Rutland peninsula. Gorgeous historic inn with many original features. Tasteful decor, attentive and welcoming staff. Great value mid-week set menu.
Alles super! Wunderschön und sehr sauber
Pleasant location, friendly staff
The fan didn’t keep the bedroom cool enough.
We arrived Sunday afternoon for a one night stay. We had booked for Sunday lunch as few days earlier. The lunch was very good, no complaints, plenty of food at a high standard. The staff were polite and made sure everything was OK. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a room at the front of the pub, the room had everything we needed including a fan as the temperature was very hot 28C. In the morning we had a full english breakfast the service was excellent and the location was lovely overlooking the garden area
Only thing would change is another fan in the room. The upstairs area was very warm might be due to the glass roof at the top of the stairs but this is not probably helped by the high temperatures the UK has been receiving this year
Room and food were very good and staff were pleasant
Very hot room, despite the fan but it was a heatwave
Dinner was exceptionally good. Wine selection spot on and service friendly.
A really nice place to stay. We were bird/otter watching on Rutland Water so needed a place to stay. This was a beautiful hotel, the room was exceptional, really nice bathroom facilities, and we even had a spacious balcony. The staff were friendly and we also had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent food.
All the staff were very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very good - perhaps an additional option of fruit compote/fruit salad on the menu would have been great. Dinner was also very good. We loved the bar areas, dining area and outdoor patio. A very quaint and charming country property.
A lovely hotel with an added bonus of a welcome cocktail! Clean and comfortable room. Fabulous breakfast set us up very well for a day of watersports.
It was a bit warm so air con would have been nice but there was a fan which helped.
The position, check in and check out, breakfast, general quality of the property
A little noisy in the room in the late afternoon- but to be expected from a pub hotel. Quiet at night. Some maintenance required on the shutters so hard to bloke out light. Not really a lake view.
Comfortable, clean and bright room. The restaurant facilities and garden area were excellent and the food was delicious.
The car park was a little noisy as staff arrived for work early morning.
The location was great
A lovely pub decorated to a high standard.
The weather was very hot (again!) so the room was much too warm. I was told I could check out at 6am but this proved not to be the case. In the event, this was not a serious problem.
The whole experience was very enjoyable. The room, food and staff were all excellent. We have stayed a number of times before and it has always maintained a very high standard in a lovely position next to Rutland Water We always do the 5 mile walk around the peninsula before relaxing in the outside patio area.
Nothing
Lovely room, facilities and provisions
Limited menu choice and times on a Sunday evening. If accommodation is provided it would be nice to be able to eat a bit later in Summer
Comfortable room and excellent food in great location.
Staff efficient but didn’t have time to engage in conversation.
The Finch`s Arms is excellent value. It is smart without being pretentious. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The evening meal was very good and the breakfast was excellent.
Liked everything very friendly team of staff and great atmosphere
Nothing really

A really lovely place to stay in a beautiful setting. The restaurant is superb and the rooms are beautifully decorated. Breakfast was 10/10.
Pillows were poor quality and lumpy. We were also staying in a heatwave and the rooms were incredibly hot although we were provided with a fan.
A really lovely place accommodation and the separate restaurant is outstanding
The day we stayed was this year’s hottest this year Aircon would have been great
Wonderful location, excellent vibe.
Beautiful peaceful setting Informal, cosy but smart Comfortable rooms, big beds welcoming clean delicious food lovely friendly professional staff
Nothing not to like!
Loved the location and the building. The room was very cosy with lots of light. The staff were very welcoming.
The pillows were a little lumpy.
Location superb for a nearby wedding which was the reason for our stay. Room really nice in terms of style and we loved the alcohol gift which was left in the room for us thank you!
Our room was the first at the top of the stairs so noisy in terms of other guests coming back.. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, although our only slight criticism was my husband ordered the full breakfast but the person taking the order asked my husband if it was ok if he had poached egg with it, which my husband said yes to as he didn't want to make a fuss but the other guests at other tables we could hear being given the choice of egg.. a minor point but slightly disappointed my husband wasn't offered the choice as he would have preferred scrambled egg!
The decor is an attractive Scandi colour palette, which blends the old with the new sympathetically; the bed comfortable and the food tasty
The only twin-bed room overlooks the bin area. The view is not so much the issue as the noise of staff emptying bottles into the bins, taking mobile calls in the area, and of wildlife scavenging. The bins should be moved elsewhere. It would also be sensible to increase the depth of the shower tray- the drencher shower head fills a 1cm depth of shower tray in two minutes causing flooding on the floor of the bathroom.
Lovely accommodation clean and stylish
Bit hot in the rooms
A great location and the whole property was fantastic. The decoration was lovely and what made it special was the attention to detail in everything which we really appreciated. The room was stunning and all the little extras were a real bonus. The evening meal was also delicious.
Everything including dinner
Poached eggs consistently overcooked
good dinner and breakfast , location, cleanliness, helpful staff
lack of non-slip mat in shower lack of air conditioning and malfunctioning coffee machine
Everything about this little hotel and restaurant is wonderful, from check in to check out everything was genuinely lovely. The food was superb and service was excellent. Our bedroom was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented and we had everything we needed, as well as plenty of space and seating.
Well positioned. Quiet location.
Nothing
We stayed at Finch's Arms for one night and booked two rooms that were advertised as having a lake view. Overall, the property is attractive, the gardens are lovely, the staff were friendly, the restaurant looked very inviting, and the breakfast was good. However, there were a few issues that affected our stay and left us feeling that the value for money wasn't quite there.
The main disappointment was the "lake view" description. In Room 1, although the room faced in the direction of the lake, the lake itself was not visible from the room. The outlook was mainly over the outdoor seating area. In Room 2, there was a very limited glimpse of the lake, but only if you stood at a particular corner of the window. We felt that describing these rooms as having a lake view was somewhat misleading. We were also surprised that the single-occupancy room was charged at the same rate as the double room, with no apparent reduction for a sole occupant. Another issue was a constant humming noise, seemingly from the kitchen ventilation or extraction system. It wasn't excessively loud, but it was audible throughout the night and became more noticeable when the windows were open. Finch's Arms has many positive qualities, and we enjoyed the restaurant, breakfast, and the friendly service. However, given the room rates, we expected the advertised lake views to be more accurate and the rooms to be quieter.
Beautiful property, elegant, quintessentially English
Nothing
Lovely room. The food was excellent, we ate there both evenings of our stay
It was quirky with individual style to each part of the building. Welcome cocktail. Good very freshly cooked breakfast, sour dough bread and decent butter.
There was a constant rumbling from presumably the ventilation system, cosy double twin was code for quite a small room. The view was roofs and bins , the bathroom needed shelves and hooks and the shower overflowed! The step down in the bathroom was a bit dodgy too, I went flying in the middle of the night Coffee was not v nice.
Great location , very good staff , And the restaurant was excellent Very pretty garden .
Absolutely nothing , we loved it.
Nice place staff were very accommodating.
The price of food was excessive for what it was. I ended up paying more for food than I did for the room. Considering that a very good breakfast was included in the room price I am at a loss to see why the evening meal was so dear.
The location , we have been coming for over 20 years and it never disappoints . We particularly enjoyed the cooked breakfast
All the food was excellent. The restaurant area looks over Rutland water and is very restful. Room was clean and stylish
nothing
Breakfast was good, available dinner food was good. Room was very comfortable.
Gents toilets had no paper towels or hand drier!
Bar and restaurant provide a comfortable country environment.
No issues to report
Attractive pub in a pretty village
Bedroom was a bit smaller than expected
Lovely venue - lovely food - staff warmed up as our stay continued.
Lovely room but in the future it is likely they hotel will need air con as very hot and even though a fan was supplied - it was still uncomfortable because of the lack of through air. Staff did seem a little pre occupied on arrival but warmed up through our stay.
Evening meal was very good. Our room was beautiful inside, huge bathroom and they had supplied a pair of binoculars to get a better view of the lake. Very thoughtful gesture along with the free cocktail bottle.
I knew our room was ready half an hour before 3pm as i saw the bottle of champagne I had preordered go up but we were not allowed to check in until then. The balcony did not look like it had been cleaned since it was laid down and the wall was covered in pigeon poo! The chairs were very old and we ended up taking the one from inside to sit on. The room was quite full of furniture and we had to move the freestanding mirror in order to get into the wardrobe.
