It was a joy
Beautiful country hotel where it’s all about service and making people comfortable. Food in restaurant was also outstanding.
Excellent service and special venue
This is a perfect hotel. Everything is perfect. Loved the decor, staff, food melts in your mouth. And the housekeepers are amazing, in particular as most of the walks you will take in the area leave you covered in mud. I cannot recommend this place enough. Everything is impeccable.
Nice ambiance and staff
This is our sixth visit. It is just perfect. The food, the staff, the room and location, You come away feeling thoroughly spoiled. We will be visiting again,
Hotel and gardens are absolutely beautiful. Rooms and public areas very clean and comfortable. Furnishings entirely in keeping with the period house. Breakfast lovely but not outstanding. We were disappointed that we went to sit on the beautiful terrace for a drink just before 5pm, so it wasnt busy, but took 45 minutes to be served with a drink, and that was after going to the bar to ask. Our expectations from this hotel were high, and the service from the bar staff let it down.
Old school hospitality!
Everything is superb from the standard and ambience of all the rooms ,many with views to die for , to superb cuisine served by properly trained pleasant staff.
Stayed as part of a family celebration. We had a fantastic meal in the private dining room where we were looked after famously by the staff throughout the evening. All round, an excellent experience
Great stay at this period hotel. Is like stepping into Remains of the Day. 5-star service and conditions. Great walk around Rutland Water. Exquisite food. Fabulous house keeping. Enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
Very welcoming & competent staff in this well established quality hotel. We really enjoyed our short stay.
There is nothing not to like. This is an amazing hotel in an amazing location with (you guessed it) amazing food.
The staff could not have been more helpful and made the stay in one of the most beautiful houses and settings I have had the fortune to stay in.
It was quiet, private and peaceful with excellent service and food. Provided the perfect sanctuary for a busy family weekend
Beautiful property, excellent staff!
Lovely couple of days at Hambleton Hall. Great location and the level of service was excellent. The food in the restaurant was of a very high standard and our lake view room was very comfortable.
They made us feel like royalty.
Everything as we expected - absolutely wonderful stay. Friendly, courteous. Attentive staff. Just what we needed for our 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Our honeymoon was at The Sharrow Bay Hotel on Ullswater and Hambleton Hall brought back the memories of a true country house hotel.
Brilliant weekend at thh Hotel. Brilliant staff and food but rooms a little dated. Dont let that stop you though as this is old money at its finest
We toughly enjoyed ou stay for my wife’s birthday treat
Just the perfect place for a romantic stay for Valentine's Day. Cannot fault it and the food and service was exquisite. Already booked again for lunch in June, and will definitely stay again in the autumn. Extremely enjoyable.
Delightful country hotel worthy of 5 stars, great service, amazing food and views to die for.
The restaurant is exceptional, faultless exciting food. Staff are great with a high number per guest. The views are stunning across Rutland Water. There is nothing to dislike about the property.
Excellent from start to finish. The building and the setting are stunning, the service was superb. We only had a view of some roofs but we didn’t pay for a view so no complaints. The food was outstanding as could be expected of a Michelin star restaurant.
Huge lack of supervision. Staff need a lot of training. No signs of management.
What a hidden gem. Hambleton Hall is perfect in every way. The staff were genuinely friendly without being intrusive, Our room was magnificent with wonderful views and far larger than we expected. The food ( including breakfast) lived up to its high reputation and was served with quiet efficiency. There is nothing self congratulatory or showy about the hotel, it simply delivers impeccable standards as the norm. We can’t wait to return.
Everything about the Hotel and Staff was excellent, It was Expedia that I was thoroughly disappointed with
Great staff service and an excellent restaurant in a beautiful setting.
We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful room in an idyllic location. Staff were so warm, welcoming and genuine and the tasting menu meal we chose in the restaurant was the best we've ever eaten. We will definitely be returning in the future.
difficult to fault: why does it not have a Michelin star or two?
Lovely quiet setting, delightful comfortable rooms, beautiful garden, top quality service, delicious food.
Faultless stay at an incredibly well run and beautiful hotel
Elegantly cosy, very comfortable, delicious food, charming staff, pretty garden overlooking Rutland Water
Outstanding luxury and great service in a beautiful setting.
Lovely hotel in great area Staff very friendly and helpful I would definitely return
Everything was perfect. The comfortable hotel and luxurious rooms, delicious menu and excellent service made it a memorable experience. We really appreciated all the little touches that made this hotel stand out. Like the wellies in the hall, the walking maps and information in the rooms, the artefacts and antiques made it feel like home rather than a hotel
Start to finish perfect....food room ..check in old world service and gourmet food
From the minute we parked and saw the beautiful surroundings of the Hotel, we knew we were going to have a Wonderful treat and we were not disappointed. A warm welcome awaited us, we were given a guided tour of the Hotel, shown to our Lake View room and offered refreshments. The view of the gardens and beyond at sunset were amazing and the room extremely comfortable and well equipped, with everything provided. After a walk around the grounds, a rest and a relaxing bath we looked forward to our evening meal. The Exterior and interior of the Hotel is idyllic with log fires both in the Bar and Drawing room, a lovely setting for pre-Dinner drinks. The Staff were very polite, professional and knowledgeable and the Food. Well, what can I say? The only word to describe it is Exquisite. The Quality, Combination of subtle flavours and Presentation was second to none and shall be remembered for a very long time. We look forward to returning to Hambleton Hall and would certainly recommend a visit.
We had an overnight stay at Hambleton Hall having been intending to visit for many years. It fully met our expectations, from the initial welcome and reception service, the quality of the room with a superb view across Rutland Water, the towels, sheets etc were all of a very high standard - so often what you get is poorer than you are used to at home. The rooms don't have a kettle but when we asked, the staff could not have been more helpful bringing one and coffee / tea all complimentary. The lounge and the bar are well furnished and welcoming with logs fires roaring in both. When I asked for a particular drink which was not in the bar, the head barman managed to obtain it very quickly, showing that nothing is too much trouble. We had a superb evening meal which lived upto expectations, including grouse and partridge both superbly cooked and presented. The Sommelier clearly knows his wine and provided excellent advice re the right pairings. The breakfast was equally good, with choices such as smoked haddock and kippers on offer alongside the more traditional ones. It is not a cheap option, but for a special treat sets a great standard.
The food during our stay was worthy of more than the single Michelin star
We stayed here the night before our daughters wedding, The service at this hotel is the best we have had anywhere in the world. The location is magical. We were blessed with fabulous weather. Gardens and view are stunning
This was a wonderful venue for a special occasion. Attentive staff ensuring every comfort; a comfortable room with a pleasing outlook and a superb location. The icing on the cake however was the stunning meal in the restaurant. Simply magnificent.
Charming Victorian country house, converted to 15 room hotel. Wonderful location on the banks of Rutland Water. Room with fantastic views. The dinner in the restaurant was delicious as was the breakfast. Very friendly staff. Can't recommend this hotel enough 10/10
From the moment of our arrival we where made to feel very much at home. All rooms are exquisitely furnished and extremely comfortable. The main sitting room has beautiful views over Rutland waters. I believe we most probably had the best meal we ever had in England. The chef deserves at least three Michelin stars. Dominique chose some excellent wines for us, he certainly knows his job. Thank you. After a wonderful evening we retired to our beautiful room and had a relaxing sleep in the best bed linen ever!! We shall return!!!
A great welcome from the staff. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. The garden was lovely and the grounds extensive. Dinner was an imaginative combination of locally produced food. We selected a very good wine from an extensive wine list. The cooked breakfast was perfection. Sadly they did not have any marmite that we like with our toast. The grounds even had room to arrive by helicopter.
What a place! Beautiful, luxurious but very relaxed and unpretentious. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room was gorgeous with a bath big enough for two and the food was out of this world.
As we live in East Kent it is normally far easier for us to stay in France to indulge our taste buds. We visited Rutland, as we had family business in Nottingham & it was the nearest Relais & Chateau on the way. Hambleton Hall lived up to every expectation. We can't wait to visit again!!
