It was ok, but no lift up to the top flor (4 levels) which was definitely not good for anyone with physical limitations. Should add that I stayed in a single room, which was next door to the hostel, so unclear if the hostel has a lift or not. But it was a comfortable room, quiet except for the damn seagulls that are squawking all day and night! No A/C for those who require it, but it was cool weather there while visiting with a storm pasing through. Listing said they had a washer for clothes bit it was "out of service", which was the second of three hotels I stayed in that claimed that over an 8-day period, so needed to spend an additional $20 to do a sigle load at a laundromat. Overall, the location was great, right in the heart of Dublin, room was comfortable, and close to everything. As mentioned in another review, lot of homeless and addicts in the area, with many cops just standing around in groups and not doing much to make tourists feel safe as the homeless are a bit aggressive. Cops are clearly reactive, not proactive, so unfortunately they probably won't do anything until something happens, which can be too late for someone.
Abbey Court is a great place to stay, situated within walking distance of key sites in Dublin. The beds were reasonably comfortable, showers and other bathroom facilities were clean, and we enjoyed the bar, eating, and activity areas. The murals add charm to the hallways and stairwell. The free breakfast was fantastic. Thx very much for a great stay!
Location is phenomenal!
Very clean and comfortabel. Very good value. But location is very loud. Room nr 13 is horrible if you are a sensitive sleeper. Every time someone opens the door in the hallway, you can hear it loudly, waking me up all night and morning. So sleeping was not possible
Great
Location great, room was basic but all that was needed.
The only minor flaw was there was nowhere to put your phone to charge overnight
Great location, easily accessible by bus from airport. Lots of communal spaces and breakfast included. Lockers under beds for suitcases and a fairly spacious dormroom. We had a bathroom in the room which is great. It was tiny though. Shower water was very hot at times and because the shower head is attached to the wall and space is tiny there's no way of avoiding the hot water.
This property is in a great location from which to catch airport bus, it is also in a good location from which to explore the city. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. There was a bit of noise at night so earplugs are recommended. The showers are a one temperature deal - slightly hot but ok. Overall, I had a great stay.
Good location to restaurants and landmarks. Like the design of the exterior.
Four flights of stairs with a suitcase and no lift wasn’t ideal. Couldn’t turn around in shower without knocking the nozzle off. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast facilities were good, loved the artwork everywhere.
Okay only there one night
Super Lage - Frühstück ok - Anstelle eines Doppelzimmers ein Apartement bekommen - Guter WLAN Zugang
Check in staff was not friendly at all, even felt rude. Location is good but the facilities and layout of dorm is bad. Worse is they charge on everything even for storing luggage. 3 euros. Not going back ever
Some of the reviews on this hostel talk about the cramped rooms and the tiny showers. They are that. However, this is a hostel with a fantastic location right in the heart of Dublin, with a great free breakfast to get you away to good start to your day and wonderful helpful staff who seem eager to help you enjoy your time in Dublin. Hostels aren't for people who want the facilities of the Ritz or Carlton. This hostel however, is the Ritz or Carlton of hostels, notwithstanding the smaller rooms and showers.
Property location was perfect enjoyed my stay and facilities were great
Most all the staff, except one, was friendly and knowledgeable. Hair dryers , hair straighteners, towels, umbrellas... everything is available... for a price. Luggage staorage should be free or discounted for guests. The hammocks needs to be cleaned. They offer great trips and are I a superb location. For the price it’s worth it, but the Nicole and dime a lot.
It was good. I went the cheap route and stayed in a large women's only room that had about 20 beds. I stayed 6 nights, so there were women checking in and out all the time. Lots of guest circulation. But I felt comfortable there. Small space. Body bunk bed and just a metal box that slid out below the bed. But I didn't need much else. The staff were very nice and helpful. You could join groups of other travelers for tours. There was a cafeteria area and a kitchen you could use and vending machines. It was very centralized. Easy walking access to everywhere. Women's only shower room and multiple bathrooms. I had a good experience, I'd highly recommend it.
It was an ok place. The common areas are large but strangely not big enough to really find a place to comfortably sit out of the way (especially if you are traveling solo). Warning: the breakfast is not a warm breakfast. Not my favorite hostel I've stayed in, but also not my least favorite.
I booked this accommodation for my girlfriend and I. I wanted value for money with - good location, a clean room, our own bathroom, good WiFi, breakfast provided and friendly staff. I’m delighted to say I got all of these here! Yes the room was basic but it was clean and quiet. Would recommend, for the price paid in central Dublin you can’t get better! FYI I booked double room with ensuite.
Very convenient to lots of interesting areas of the city. 24/7 opening is great. Breakfast v good. All very clean and tidy.
Excellent location, but the hostel urgently needs a refurbishment as it looks very outdated and shabby. We had a problem with the toilet flush in our en-suite room and nobody of the hostel staff took care of it. One of the girls at the reception has been very arrogant and not helpful on this matter at all: when we reported the issue to her, we have been offered 1 euro as refund for the inconvenience. It really seemed she was fooling us instead of trying to help, as she was supposed to. Breakfast room is also very outdated and not welcoming at all. Mattresses also were noisy and uncomfortable.
Room was small, bed was very uncomfortable, toilet/shower was dirty and old. it was more like a prison cell. There are many drug addict/ junkies outside the hostel. I didn't feel too safe staff are not friendly and not ever Irish.
It was clean hostel. Breakfast was ok, normal nothing special. stupid thing if u want to use hair dryer, you have to pay money. Reception is not helpful. All about money.
The hostel is in a great location but if you are wanting to get any sleep this isn’t the place for you. The beds are jammed in so close to each other that you don’t have any space to breathe. I could also hear doors slamming all through out the night. I realize the building is old but it was extremely loud and the walls were very thin.
Best hostel I've stayed at in Dublin, I highly reccomend!
Worse hostel ever! Bad staff, dirty toilet/shower, tiny cheap beds
No elevator/lift. Difficult for a shopaholic like me with two luggages. Good size room for a solo traveller in the heart of Dublin. Breakfast is very basic. Close to buses to and from airport. Reception is friendly.
Irish staff are nice but Brazilian staff are rude, inpatient, ignorant and need to be trained.
The staff are nice and friendly. The location was very good to go around the city center. And the breakfast is good. Just one negative point is the room was small like a corridor.
Great location. Comfortable bed. Quiet room (all female). It's a bit of a maze to reach your room, but otherwise it's fine. Bathrooms and showers are good and just down the hall. Be sure to bring a flexible lock or lock with a long neck for the underbed storage lockers. Also, if you take the 10:30 walking tour, it actually starts at 11. This was unfortunate since I had to leave early.
Great location good breakfast close to all transportation and all food restaurant
Very central, easy to get to museums, St. Stevens Green, Trinity college and Temple Bar area. I stayed 4 nights in a 20bed dorm room and it was fairly clean, the staff was friendly and attentive, and breakfast was acceptional.
I just come back from from my city break in Dublin. My stay at the Abbey court hostel it was great. Very good condition and facilities for a great price.
Thanks Clean Great breakfast No more comments to add but asking for more not good
Close to everything and helpful staff but room very crowded and noisy
No elevator, no parking, and no tv. The bed was so uncomfortable. But everything else was great. I loved the art. The price was great.
Staff were great here and couldn't have been more helpful. For €13.50 including breakfast value was excellent! Nice and clean. The only thing I did not like was the amount of beds in a small space. I was in a 16 person dorm and in a row of bunks down the middle of the room with bunks touching, which meant a lot of disturbance when someone with a bunk touching you turned over. The girl in the bunk beside me literally had her backside over me when I was sleeping so she could access her under bed storage. But at such good value it was a minor issue. If you are looking for cheap, clean and good value with breakfast then this hostel is great!!
The only good thing about this place is its fantastic location! Right in the middle of all the action, a few minutes away from the central attractions, bus stops, tours pick-up points, restauramts and bars. The place is clean, although its decor is all about graffiti, which is not to my tastes. There are a lot of minuses especially when considering that I had a PRIVATE ROOM with a private bathroom, and thus paid a larger amount of money when compared to those sleeping in dormitories 1. The bathroom was so tiny that I had to literally plaster myself into the wall or jump over the toilet when exiting, since the door opens inwards. The sink was so small that even when you wash hands, it is impossible not to drip water on the floor 2. It can be loud, with noise coming from inside and outside. We had to leave the windows open as it was hot and stuffy and there was no AC, not even in private rooms 3. No blackout curtains which can be annoying as sun rises very early and sets very late in summer. 4. There is no lift, not even in the private room wing so we had to carry our luggage up to the third floor. 5. You have to pay for a hairdryer and for secure luggage storage 6. Beds are not done. Cleaners just change towels and empty bins 7. Breakfast is free but there isn't much choice, which is kind of expected when considering that it is also offered to those paying a fraction of the price. Would not stay again, although it might be OK for backpackers
Location is amazing and staff were very helpful. Beds comfy and clean. Breakfast wasn’t all that great but you don’t go to hostels for the food!
This hostel is conveniently located near the temple bar, which is a huge plus for tourists. Coming from the airport, it is a short walk from the Airlink bus stop on O'Connell Street, the main thoroughfare. Breakfast is included in the room rate, which makes it a great value. They sell tours and have friendly staff to help tourists with pretty much anything. I enjoyed my stay there and will book this hostel again next time I visit Dublin.
I loved it here! The bed was nothing great, or even good, but it was fine. The staff was great, so nice and helpful, and my roomies are rad. We all still talk despite us being from 4 different countries! This place totally bright us together! I'd stay here again if I came for another solo. Worth the price, the best location and nice crowd.
It was a really great stay. Everything was superb. There was one staff member who was grumpy 24/7 and it reflected in the service he provided. However, everyone else was extremely happy and ready to help. Best stay I’ve had in a hostel so far!
I've had a unique experience. I had reserved a private room with single bed and private bath room. I had supper in the main dinning room which was nice. When I first entered the room around 6 pm, I notice the skylight was open and would have been during a period of heavy rain in the afternoon resulting in the end of the bed getting soaked thoroughly. Since they had no other private room available, they upgraded my stay with a fully-furnished apt down the street at no extra cost to me. It was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoy my stay there. The staff is really friendly and helpful and resourceful.
Really lovely place and great location. All in all a good stay. The staff was lovely on check in and throughout, they were very helpful when having to rearrange my plans. Breakfast is a plus and can’t wait for that hammock room to open. The pillows could do with an upgrade and mechanisms that make door shutting not as loud. But other than that would stay again
Had originally booked a quad. When there was a glitch on that reservation, I upgraded to a single, which turned out to be a much better choice for me last week. Abbey Court has a terrific location. It's a two minute walk across O'Connell Bridge from Temple Bar, Trinity and City Center. The staff is exceedingly helpful. The vibe is upbeat. I encourage anyone who needs clean, modest, safe accommodation in Dublin to book here.
Overall very good only problem was a girl getting up at 4.00 am making noise in going through her bags many times also night before. Very good otherwise
Exactly what you are paying for a place to sleep and shower!
The best thing about this hotel is its fantastic location! Right in the middle of all the action, about 1 minute walking to all the central attractions, bus stops that go to the airport, all the places where tours commence, and to all the restaurants and the live music locations. The place is also very clean, although its decor is all about graffiti, which can be unsettling. There are some minuses: 1. The reception has not a single chair to sit in! When you have to wait and you are tired, it is really-really frustrating. 2. The bathroom (at least, in my room of 4-bed female) was so tiny that I had to plaster myself into the wet wall when exiting, since the door opens inwards. 3. It can be loud, noise coming both from the inside and the outside. Overall, it is a good option for the price.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Perfect location. Stayed in a room with an ensuite, so much nicer than a bunk. The mattress was definitely worn but passable. Thin walls allowed for some interesting anecdotes to take away. :)
great location. didnt feel unclean. though bathroom had a funny smell. staff is so helpful and nice.
Great place to stay and offers a lot of affordable activities to do around the city!
Clean and cheap. Staff were helpful. Atmosphere is entirely lacking in the common areas - they're a transient place to be, not somewhere to hangout.
I only stayed here for a night but liked the place. Would've loved to have stayed longer. Very cool artwork on the walls. My room was inside the bar area but I didn't find this at all disturbing, in fact everyone was pretty cool and respectful. Would definitely recommend for students or couples. I didn't try it, but breakfast looked busy, well-manned and operated. The layout of the hostel is a little confusing, but it was OK once I got used to it. Probably wouldn't recommend to anyone who might have a physical disability or requires assistance - lots and lots of stairs.
Solo Female traveler. It was in a perfect location, close to the bus to the airport. The front desk was helpful when arriving and the luggage storage was easy for the following day when I had a later flight. Only stayed for 1 night after St. Pattys day, but it was great.
It doesn’t get more central that this hostel. The staff is super nice and welcoming. I’ve stayed at other Dublin hostels and this is the best. The bathrooms are a bit cramped, but so it goes and it’s the same things at other hostels. They have both paid, secure luggage storage and also a free unsecured room. Even after the kicthen closes at night, they still have a microwave you can use. The WiFi is strong enough for Skype calls.
Great location, right in the middle of the party area. If you can’t sleep when there’s noise then don’t stay here. It’s a fun place to be in and there’s no excusing that. Probably the best hostel I’ve ever experienced. Only tip is to bring your own padlock so you can store your belongings in the cage under the beds. Cleanliness must be pretty good too because I forgot to bring thongs and I never had any issues with showering in shared bathrooms if you know what I mean. No tinea! Yah haha Dublin you are in my heart forever Very easy to get to by using the airport shuttle bus The artwork is amazing across the floors
I stayed one night with my partner just to have a bed to lie in, we didn’t expect much. Room was fine, a little unclean when we arrived (bed was lazily dressed, hairs in pillows). Staff were nice. Wouldn’t recommend for any stay longer than 2 nights, choose a hotel or a better rated hostel.
Great location - walking distance to everything. Not the most comfortable bed but it was fine for the cost!
Abbey Court was right in the middle of things, a perfect location. The room woul not become dark due to a green glowing security light on the roof so it was difficult to get to sleep for me.
Hostel close to centre of town. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
This hostel was good for a couple of nights. It is located close to major attractions, with a short walk to the Temple Bar district and a 30 minute walk to the Guinness Storehouse. Rooms were tidy and appeared clean, with plenty of space (12-bed dorm). There are no power sockets or individual lights at the beds, but plenty of sockets in the room if you wanted to leave your phone out of sight. The staff were lovely; very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful. The female bathrooms were a nightmare, with very little privacy (although female only). It was modelled off a high school change room, with benches and small shower cubicles with a curtain. The water was warm at best, and no hook to hang toiletry bags on in the showers. Hardly helpful. If you could get the private ensuite it was a little better.
Glad I picked Abbey Court. It was close to places I wanted to visit. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely stay here again :)
This hostel is walkable distance to everywhere! I love how there are extra washrooms in the hallway so you don't need to wait for someone else to finish. The room is a bit small, need to hug the wall when trying to walk pass your roommate to get to your bed. No big deal.
Love the staff that work there - very helpful and accommodating. Knew lots about the city and great places to eat: weather it was a good pub, or where to grab a sandwich. Room was simple, but clean and exactly what we needed. Location was great, central and close to nearly everything. If I'm back in Dublin, I'd stay there again. :)
The hostel is in an excellent position close to the city centre and excellent public transport options. The 4 bed dorm I had overlooking the river was clean and the included breakfast was adequate and satisfying. As the dorm also overlooked quite a busy road it was a bit noisy during the night. Still a good place to stay.
The hostel was just okay. Not bad, but not great. But the location could not be beat.
Clean, good location and helpful staff... Great place to stay
Everything was clean. The staff was always helpful. Good place.
First hostel i've stayed in but was very impressed, lovely hammock room, multiple lounges and a full kitchen. Wifi worked well for me.
Great place to stay when traveling alone to ireland. Would recomend to everyone i know
You get what you pay for - the dorm I got was very basic but it was also very cheap. Very easy to meet people there - lots of backpackers etc. And, free wifi too. Finally, great for getting buses back to airport etc.
The hostel is next to a major bus and taxi hub. You can travel almost anywhere from the ares. There are several travel tour companies, resteraunts, atms, and currency exchange shops less then 3 minutes from your door. The famous temple bar area is only a 5 to 10 minute walk away. You can not get to much of a better location. There are several malls and shops within a few minutes walk of the hostel. The rooms were spotless and were cleaned out every day. The bathrooms were very clean and are cleaned every few hours. The breakfast was fruit, sausage rolls, three types of cereal, milk, tea, or, coffee. It is eat as much as you want. With two staff restoking and cleaning dishes during the meal. There are over 30 cameras and lock boxes for personal stuff. The property gives discouts for longer stays and they can set up any travel needs in Ireland for you. A lot of smokers in the property it is best to buy some rolling papers if looking to make friends. There is a small bar on property but dublin has so many bars you can find one that is your own flavor. A lot of helpfull people at this property.
Known that you are staying in a hostel, and do not expect a hotel stay. The kitchen and common area are decent. There were quite a few long term residents when I was there, demonstrated by the lady who sewed a compleye dress in one day sewing machine and all. This is a party hostel and can be loud however the staff are top knotch at dealing with inebriated travellers. The breakfast was good. The kitchen was well equipped but cramped. If you can tolorate the noise then stay here. If not, look around, skybackpacker or generator would be my choice.
