Provider-sourced guest reviews.
It was quiet and the staff were friendly. Food was good but not exceptional.
Room dirty, maintenance issues and stains on everything. Bugs everywhere on sunloungers, definitely an ant problem by the pool so difficult to relax. Gym although open was not operational- machines not set up. When I asked for assistance with this, nobody came. Overall disappointing for the price and how it is advertised - not as luxurious as the pictures would suggest
- staff was amazing - facilities are unbelievable
- trips are expensive
Magnifique site
Superó todas nuestras expectativas. Calidad precio brutal.

Indimenticabile
Amazing Hotel - everything was perfect. Especially food and staff. Is a beautiful area.
Nothing, we’ll definitely come back
Location and serenity were fantastic. Not very busy and close to the sea and mountain.
Rooms were a bit bear. No TV - which was generally a positive.
This hotel is a gourmet destination. We took the half board package, and the breakfast and dinner meals were excellent! And the service and attentiveness of the staff, from the front desk to dining to housekeeping to the drivers, everyone was so wonderful.
Some parts of the hotel were starting to look tired and need sorting out. For example, the cushions by the pool, the wooden railings, etc need to be replaced / touched up. The water marks on the walls of the property and the courtyards of the garden room need sorting out. Finally, please do not let your chef's garden go to waste. I am pointing all these items out because my family and I totally love this property and hope they can improve to meet the full marks of 10.

The food, the rooms and the staff were great
The location was a bit deceptive - no indication it was in mangrove swamps with beware of crocodile signs! I was locked into my room on day 2 and although they came and unlocked it from the outside this was not fixed during my stay.
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. It definitely felt like you were a guest in a luxury home. Food was amazing on the dinner and breakfast package and the staff were all very friendly.
Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel! Ontbijt is goed met duidelijke opties. Hotel zelf is goed onderhouden en kamers zijn zeker up to standard!

Quiet and lovely surroundings Great staff who looked after you. Nice view from the pool
Lack of a beach front Lack of sports facility (but has a gym)
Privacy and low density
Need new paint
We spent a lovely weekend in Santubong. So glad we chose Cove55. The resort is superbly maintained, considering it is an older property. The rooms are massive and clean. I would suggest taking higher floors if you are within the main mansion. What stood out is the Front Desk - the guest experience is delightful. Very prompt response time and helpful in accommodating our requests. The WhatsApp responses were so well-written that I sometimes thought they were from AI. :) Perhaps a combination of human + AI. I loved the pool and views. The Zebra craft beer offering is a nice touch - I wasn't able to find it anywhere else locally. Really have no negative feedback - keep up the good work. I'm sure to be back.
This Hotel sits on its own by the coast and has beautiful gardens. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast and dinners I enjoyed were absolutely Top class and really made my stay. There is a good size swimming pool. The Hotel offers free transport to nearby attractions and activities. The only disappointment is that it was not possible to swim in the sea due to crocodiles.
Food, service
Room noise Water pressure
The setting is absolutely stunning - Mount Santubong in the hinterland and the South China Sea in the foreground. The grounds of the hotel are also beautifully maintained. The cooking class offered by the hotel is great. I’d recommend it - fabulous produce, really good and insightful instruction and good fun. A great way to spend a rainy couple of hours. We opted for half board given location and lack of nearby quality restaurants. The dinner menu is extensive and the food excellent. Our room with sea view balcony was very spacious and clean. The hotel offers a complimentary car service to the local shops - we used this a couple of times - it’s a great service. All the staff were incredibly welcoming and professional.
Very little not to like but some of the public areas - specifically the stairway up to the rooms didn’t appear to be very clean - minor but as a first impression not great. Our room whilst clean could do with a little TLC in terms of the paintwork.
The staff were superb and very responsive to my wishes. The food was excellent, the location is lovely and peaceful
I would have liked more shade around the pool and it is a shame that the beach was not available due to crocodiles!
Staff were really focused on service . Brilliant food
Edging on grungy in places and would benefit from deep clean in places.
I was so looking forward to our 3 night stay at Cove 55, but sadly it did not match my expectations. On the plus side, the restaurant and food was excellent, as was the luxury transfer service to and from the airport. However, the hotel is badly in need a refurbishment and some areas are quite tatty. Particularly the swimming pool, which should be such a plus point of the hotel. There were many tiles missing from the pool, the bar was run down with old furniture that needs replacing, as do the sunbeds which are frankly disgusting. We booked a corner suite, but were disappointed to find it didn't have a balcony - although the room was very nice otherwise. The towels are old and thin, and again desperately in need of replacement. During our stay, food was left outside the room next door to ours, where it stayed for over 24 hours, attracting flies. Eventually I had to ask Reception to get it removed. This is not what I expected from a hotel charging such high room rates.
Beautiful surroundings, excellent food. Recommend the half board. Staff is exceptional. Good place for quiet time and unwinding.
Far away friends m town, still worth it.
The breakfast was decent. However, I would like to see a bit variety and different dish every day if it's possible.
the signboard entrance is hard to read at night when turning into left coming from SCV. sometimes tend to miss out the property. pool closure and ordering in is too early especially when there is no other restaurant available in the area
Lovely place to stay with exceptional staff
Nothing
Wonderful stay at this lovely resort. Staff very helpful, friendly and professional. Nothing was too much trouble. Great forest hiking nearby. We had a fantastic Iban cooking lesson with executive chef Mario and his team. Highly recommend.
Quiet, clean and very nice atmosphere to relax and recharged.
Nice rooms. Big n comfy
They are a lot of weaver ants. Also mangrove villa not really private, people can still see from outside and hear from next door.
The garden villa is a good size with excellent bath tub
Very strange not to hace a single TV in the entire villa and the beach is totally out of bounds so what does one do when it rained non stop?
It is a lovely resort, but it needs some maintenance. Painting in rooms, doors sticking and the pool has tiles falling off and pool chairs all need painting. The food was fantastic though which really made the stay. We had half board which was breakfast and dinner and both were great, we even got a bottle of wine included with dinner.
The main building we stayed in, which also houses the restaurant, is badly in need of maintenancence. There is mould marking in the ceiling that you can see while sitting inside the restaurant. The door into the building looks old, cracked, and peeling; the door handle looks like something you do not want to touch. The garden gate / door of the ground floor rooms are all cracked and just looked bad from outside. The pool is missing more than a couple of tiles. We had local food for breakfast —Singapore noodles and Sarawak Laksa. It was really BAD! It was my first time in Kuching, and had I have the best Sarawak Laksa in Choon Hui Cafe, it would have put me off this dish forever. It tasted like water mixed with curry powder, and added some noodles with small dried tofu. For a supposed 5-stars luxurious hotel, it is NOT. The real saving grace of all is the staff! They were absolutely fabulous.
I loved my stay at Cove 55! The breakfast, lunch, and dinner were amazing, and I really appreciate the room upgrade. The staff were wonderful and I'll definitely be back!
The bar closed too early, so I spent the rest of the night watching movies instead. It would be great if the bar could stay open a little longer for guests to unwind at night, particularly on weekends when the weather is pleasant.
They provide free transfers around the area to the likes of the cultural village in really nice cars which is a huge plus as the hotel is relatively remote. Food is good, Sarawak laksa excellent.
Nothing.
Absolutely incredible place. Its a boutique hotels and was very peaceful. Amazing staff who were happy to help with anything. Beautiful pool, comfy rooms, I would highly recommend staying here if you want a tranquil stay.
Nice breakfast , lovely outdoors , peaceful place
Stairs at toilet is not good
Booked the hotel via Luxury Escapes which was a great full board offer. Lovely quaint hotel which is secluded from the main hustle and bustle. Rooms are very spacious and quirky being situated over mangroves. You can hear all sort of animals during the night. The pool was really nice and quiet. Most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. We would have loved to have gone to the beach but apparently it was deemed unsafe. Food at the restaurant was extremely tasty. Staff were very helpful and attentive. My only gripe is time taken to get your food. As a family of six, when we ordered drinks, it would take 15 mins to get 2 drinks, and the others followed 10 mins later. Same with food; timing was very inconsistent and the wait would be long. I could hear other guests complaining about time taken.
Beautiful and relaxing hotel. We stayed in a mangrove view suite and the bathroom was incredible - never thought we would enjoy so many hot baths in such a hot country! The room was stunning, the grounds were peaceful with a beatiful infinity pool overlooking the ocean. We found all the staff to be excellent, not unstrusive at all but we never lacked for anything. Honestly this was the perfect place to spoil ourselves and relax without being disturbed.
It was a perfect place to go for a honeymoon or a second honeymoon. Never regretted deciding for this beautiful boutique resort. Quiet, beautiful view of the sea, and nothing else but pampered solitude - all perfect for a time to relax, eat and chill. Beautiful property in a romantic setting of the sea, and against the backdrop of the mountain. Just beautiful.
This hotel is outstanding. If you want to totally relax then this is a must! We were lucky enough to have the villa number 25 with our own infinity pool. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was huge. The cleaners were really great and kept it immaculately clean during our stay. Rather oddly, I absolutely loved the bedding and particularly the pillows that I’m now trying to source from the UK! This hotel is very minimalist and that’s one of the things that made it so relaxing. The walls were white and bare and no fussy gardens with lots of people around all the time. The hotel is miles from anywhere so you have to eat in the restaurant, but that was definitely a positive! A wide and varied menu of both local and western dishes. We ate local food and it was absolutely delicious. Qim and her team in the restaurant were faultless. We always got a warm welcome and they remembered what type of drink we wanted in the morning as well. We enjoyed happy hour by the swimming pool and the cocktails were excellent. The swimming pool itself is exceptional: a beautiful infinity pool with amazing views and shaded seating made it just perfect. I used the gym every day, which was great as well. Maybe could do with another running machine but that is really picking holes! There were yoga mats provided and you could take them to your room. We would like to thank ALL the staff for a fantastic stay- didn’t want to leave!
The hotel was so clean and peace. The room was comfortable as well. The pool at night was so pretty too.
Nice rooms and facilities. The pool and gym were excellent. Free shuttle to the Rainforest world music festival was appreciated. Breakfast was very good as well.
Nothing, it was a great stay
We stayed in the Garden villa it was so spacious & clean had everything we needed for a weekend away ..The infinity pool & pool bar was perfect for a relaxing afternoon! Staff were lovely & very attentive.. Breakfast was good! Had a good selection of western & Asian food. Dinner menu was a bit limited but we enjoyed what we chose..
Not that we didn’t like the property but being such a remote resort it was extremely expensive..
Everything was perfect. Accommodation, food, staff, and the whole experience.
nothing
Lovely
Cove55 is a real gem in Kuching. The resort hotel has a great setting with views of Mount Santubong and the South China Sea. Our villa is set in the tranquility of the mangroves.
The pool is built on a deck over the water. It is rather hot as there are no trees and therefore no shade.
Absolutely fantastic hotel. We stayed in Adung, ocean villa. Villa had amazing views with our own infinity pool. Staff outstanding,so professional and friendly. Nothing too much trouble, they always go the extra mile. Restaurant is so welcoming ,food superb. Excellent choice of dishes.. We are lucky we have travelled alot and stayed in fabulous hotels but the food here stands out , every meal delicious, presented beautifully. We had afternoon tea on our sun deck, so memorable. We can't thank the staff enough for making it a holiday of a lifetime. Make sure you book wetlands wildlife excursions. We saw monkeys, dolphins and crocodiles . We also went to Semenggoh Orangutan Park, amazing trip. We enjoyed golf at Danai golf course, fantastic ocean views. Room service a must ,a evening to have dinner served on your deck as the sunsets. Perfect holiday
location pool gym bar food
no tv
I like the view and d food
I stayed at villa no 18, but the aircond was very hot middle of the night, we couldnt sleep at all
We went for the weekend when we were Kuching and loved it so much we went back for another night as it’s so idyllic. If you like peace and quiet and a fabulous view with a massive pool then you have found the right place. First two night we were in a garden room which was lovely and then when we returned they upgraded us to a mangrove villa which was exceptional. I hope one day I can do back
The breakfast was really good, a great variety and quality.
That we couldn't swim in the sea.

This boutique resort is truly a hidden gem, offering an unparalleled blend of luxury, tranquility, and breathtaking natural beauty. The Overwater Villa – A Dream Stay We stayed in the Overwater Villa, and it was simply spectacular. Waking up to the serene views of the South China Sea, with Mount Santubong in the background, felt like a dream. The villa’s design is modern yet warm, featuring elegant interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a private deck where we could soak in the stunning surroundings. I would have to say that Cove 55 offers really good value considering what is on offer. Lovely, though a bit dated, rooms. An excellent gym and pool area. And a really good restaurant. Plus the service is attentive and professional. Highly recommended. Great QPR
I enjoyed my stay at Cove 55. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious, tastefully decorated, clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was huge and we also had a big balcony where you can lounge in. We had dinner at the hotel and we were happy with it.
The room given was spacious more than enough for a family of three.
Breakfast was excellent however selection of drinks are limited. Room given was too far, we had so many bags to carry with an infant as well. Restaurant was unable to dine in when we checked in without prior notice. No lifts or elevators for us with a toddler pram to carry up and down the stairs.
We booked 1 unit 2 bedroom villa , 1 unit of 1 bedroom villa and 1 cove garden room. The manager is very kind to upgrade the Cove garden to 1 bedroom Villa. Much appreciated for the kind gesture. Also since the villa is near mangrove, it will be great to provide insect repellant spray for body.. in this way the guest will feel the thoughtfulness of the hotel to provide this. Small matter do count. And mini bar snacks and non- alchohol drinks should be complimentary since this hotel is so far away from town. Guest will feel more welcome and happy for the thoughtful gesture.
Breakfast normal and less variety for the price we pay but since we not fussy eater so okay. Once reached the reception, we dont feel the welcome from staff. One of the staff requested us to give IC or passport upon check in for all residence. Most unprepared to bring along their ICs since they are local. Please inform before hand prior to our arrival via whatsapp so we all can prepare to bring along IC or a photo of IC for convenience sake.
we stay in a one-bedroom Ocean Pool Villa with a private pool. surrounded by such an intensely mesmerising blue in such an exclusive setting, and it is impossible not to be spellbound. A wonderfull experience that i will repeat again.
none.
Beautiful location, rooms and hotel a little tired. Food ok but overpriced for what you got. Hotel very remote so nowhere else to eat around. Overall a lovely hotel just too remote and food overpriced and not great. Staff very friendly and happy to help
Love it! A fabulous place to do nothing but relax and enjoy each other’s company. Staff are attentive, property beautiful and the rooms are really nice and clean, with a balcony to watch the night sky
Mosquitos at night if you sit outside it stay out. So stay in and close glass doors. Bring mosquito repellant.
It was spacious, beautiful
Less attraction for kids, wish they have swiming pool for kids or kids playground, and our hotel room hot water doesnt work, but didnt bother to ask because its fine .
Big room. Cosy. Quiet.
some areas in the room a bit dusty.
Beautiful. Everything, from the room to the setting and the food to the facilities. We have never stayed anywhere where the staff are so on top of everything, super helpful, and genuine enjoy their work. The staff made everything so easy, helped with taxis, or the complimentary shuttle.
Nothing, the most perfect place we have stayed without a fault.
Lovely boutique hotel with excellent food, obliging staff and a beautiful setting. A beautiful pool with pool bar. We did the tour to Bako national park and some jungle trekking.
Just had a fantastic few days at Cove 55. Our room was amazing, roomy and comfortable. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Sea view pool was awesome. The food was simply delicious. Can't rate this place high enough. This resort is secluded, but perfect for a relaxing getaway. The resort arrange transport to the Orangutan Reserve, cultural Village and our River cruise. All of which I would highly recommend.
I would say this resort is the best in Sarawak. From the room to the food, all are 5 stars
