Purity at Lake Vembanad

Very dirty and not maintain not value for money food is very bad Only good thing about the resort is the staff, they are very helpful. Everything is bad at this resort from rooms to food to everything. Highly recommend not to stay here

The only thing that visitors need to know is that there is no alcohol. The hotel can provide it (or one can buy it duty free) but it must be consumed in your room. Its not a big deal, just something to be aware of.

Very nice place, all clean, with lot of charm, art pieces everywhere, and awesome room. Hotel manager was very kind to us and young waitress that served us in the morning just adorable. Restaurant was very good too, and breakfast excellent. Luckily it was sunday when we arrived and were the only customers in the hotel which of course participated to this unique feeling all along. We also got upgraded without asking to a beautiful suite for no extra cost. This is the best hotel where we stayed in Kerala we recommend this place to people looking for something a bit alternative, design, and very authentic in terms of architecture compared to big boring luxury resorts all around. This completely worth and even surpass 5 stars hotels we went to before. Thanks for everything.

We LOVED our stay at Purity. It's in an amazing location and has beautiful grounds. We arrived to eagles and cormorants diving, but otters in the water ...magical. We took a couple of boat rides (the included kayak trip was lovely) and would definitely recommend them. The food is insanely good. It is a dry hotel, but don't let that put you off - you can bring your own or send out the staff to get something. They just ask that you drink it in your room or on your balcony and not in the communal areas. The staff were all wonderful so a big thank you in particular to Mary, Ayra, Vishnu and Suresh!

Please replace your pool towels! :)

Perfect setting on a quiet part of the lake with absolutely stunning views. It was exactly what was needed after the hustle and bustle of northern India. The staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. They made the hotel so special. At around 4.30 they came round to take our order for high tea. Wonderful!!Thank you to them all.

Hotel doesn’t have an alcohol license but this isn’t unusual for Kerala. Not a problem as we walked into town (about 15 mins) to a place which sold wine and got a tuk tuk back. Was nice to be able to have a glass of wine on our balcony before dinner.

Our second visit and Purity was as enchanting as before. Serene setting, great hospitality, beautiful rooms and a very interesting art collection as well as nice food

The pool area felt a bit neglected and would benefit from attention

The location, views, garden, and surroundings are absolutely stunning—you never tire of gazing out over the backwaters. The staff and service are exceptional; special thanks to Mary, Arya, Suresh, and the entire team for their genuine warmth and care. And above all: the food is truly unforgettable. The chef is outstanding. We consistently chose the Indian dishes and the changing suggestions—be sure to ask for the daily recommendations. Each dish is beautifully refined and perfectly seasoned. A true celebration of Indian cuisine and heartfelt hospitality.

No locks in bathrooms or toilets in the room. You hear noise if someone is having showers only thin curtains for showers .

An absolute delight. From the second we walked in, our stay at Purity was magical. Marvellous rooms. Glorious garden. Swimming pool with a view over Kerala's largest lake. Fabulous food. Delicious drinks. And superb service. Add in morning yoga and an evening canoe trip with a local Chinese-net fisherman and Purity is far more than the sum of its (wonderful) parts. The perfect oasis to relax at the end of an amazing three weeks in India.

Das Hotel war unglaublich geschmackvoll eingerichtet, eine wunderschöne Kombination aus landestypischen und modernen Elementen. Sehr großzügige und luxuriöse Zimmer. Die Lage des Hotels ist traumhaft am Vembanad See mit Blick auf das Wasser. Toller Gartenbereich mit vielen Sitzbereichen und Liegemöglichkeiten am Pool. Das Personal war ganz besonders freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sehr bemüht den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten. Am Silvesterabend, den wir im Hotel verbracht haben , gab es Vorführungen von indischem Tanz und Tabla.

Zeer mooi hotel. Niet te groot. Prachtig gelegen. Goede keuken en zeer vriendelijk personeel. Kortom prima hotel om onze laatste dagen in India door te brengen.

Emplacement au calme, loin de la ville. Approprié pour flâner dans les backwaters mais éloigné de zones d'activité. Cuisine excellente dans l'établissement

Les draps n'étaient pas immaculés (taches résiduelles anciennes). Peu d'activités proches, notamment pas de restaurants dans les environs

Location, surroundings and facilities are excellent. We loved just sitting outside watching the lake, but our suite was huge and very comfortable if we wanted to be inside for a while. There’s little very close apart from a lovely beach for sunsets around 5 miles away but that’s what we wanted - quiet and peaceful. The staff are lovely and make sure you feel welcome and happy, and will detail and organise boat trips, etc. Last but definitely not least, the food is outstanding with subtle interesting flavours with some fresh takes on traditional Keralan dishes.

Massive rooms and bathroom. Architecture is very different from what I'm used to. felt very quaint yet luxurious. Probably the friendliest staff I've ever met. They made our stay truly memorable. Spa, canoe ride, yoga, food, they were all exceptional. Views are amazing.

The room is massive, and air conditioning from the living space doesn't reach the bed.

Purity is in an exceptional location; it's a true paradise on the edge of Lake Vembanad. The building is full of understated charm with an understated and thoughtful design aesthetic that appeals to all the senses. The team work incredibly well together, were warm-hearted, nothing was too much trouble and worked very efficiently to organise everything that we asked for with great attention to detail. We felt genuinely cared about by all the staff including but not limited to Mary, Sarath, Arya, Ajikumur and Vishnu. Everyone took great pride in doing an excellent job with good humour to make their guests’ stay a memorable one. The food here is wholesome and delicious and the rooms immaculately maintained by excellent housekeeping staff. Each room has a unique character with spectacular views over the lake. If you have the chance to go, you should. A memorable and delightful stay.

Everything, amazingly beautiful property, fabulous interior design, wonderful service from the staff and great food. We also went to the beach at madurai one afternoon which was close by and a beach you don’t want to miss.

The only thing we could fault is that they don’t have a bar. And sometimes you just really want a beer. But the lovely staff did offer to go to the village and purchase some for us.

Everything! The beautifully designed rooms, the location, the serene atmosphere. The staff were wonderful too, very accommodating and helpful. We were given packed breakfast because we left before breakfast opened on the day we checked out. Every consideration was shown to our parents who travelled with us, serving food in the room veranda because our mom could not walk with ease to arranging for massage in the room, to helping us fit in our activities within our limited time. We had a wonderful stay!

The approach to the place is rather narrow and winding, difficult for large vehicles but it's manageable

What a beautiful, tranquil place. Our room was large with a huge balcony and very comfortable, and the garden and pool are immaculately maintained. Food is wonderful - gorgeous breakfasts, fresh local fish and excellent for vegetarians too. Chef Sahal made a wonderful tasting menu on our last night. We did some sightseeing organised by Mary, and enjoyed fabulous Ayurvedic treatments. The welcome and care from staff was exceptional: thank you Arya,, Suresh and all the team! Purity is very special and we're so glad we chose it.

We loved everything! It is a quiet place but you can go easily to Allepey and Fort Kochi by taxi for days out.

Peace and seclusion

Stunning location, a beautiful serene break from the hustle and bustle of India. The staff were so warm and attentive - special mention to Mary on the front desk who greeted us on arrival and helped us throughout our stay and Sarath who worked tirelessly managing the restaurant - they are a credit to the hotel. Thank you!

The staff did a great job of what they had to cater for vegans but perhaps senior management could consider extending options (e.g. soya milk). This did not adversely affect our stay due to the excellent improvisation of Sarath!

Tranquility

The hotel is very chic and in a beautiful location.

Enchanting location, very calm and peaceful with beautiful views of Vembanad lake. The hotel is a work of art - a church creatively renovated with stunning modern design contrasted by historical artefacts and paintings. The breakfast and dinner was great and the staff were incredibly helpful - waiting up until 1am for our late arrival and upgrading our room. The boat ride to the other side of the lake and the narrow backwaters was well worth the money - the driver founds us lots of bird and wiildlife to photograph (kingfishers, an otter etc).

Everything! The staff was incredibly sweet and attentive. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was super tasty. The rooms were large, beautiful, clean and comfortable. The resort area in front of the lake was breathtaking. We had a wonderful 90 min massage, plus morning yoga sessions, and they also organized a boat tour and a taxi for us. Additionally the new year's eve dinner and entertainment was spectacular!

If Kearala is God's own country, Purity@lake Vembanad is God's own retreat ! We spent 2 nights 3 days and we definitely will come back ! The staff was so sweet and accomodating, We had complementary one yoga session, one canoe tour with the sweetest fisherman (he took time to take us to his fish net and show us how it operates) and everyday a "gouter" in the afternoon. The chef was really very professional and nice (I had one of the best biryani in my life!) Everywhere you set your eyes in the hotel it is only beautiful things, decor and art. Massage was lovely. End your trip in Kerala with Purity is the best treat you can give yourself !

We really enjoyed our stay. I love how art was integrated into the hotel. Amazing food. Both breakfast and dinner were amazing. Everyone is very helpful. People are friendly and caring. So many activities to attend and the hotel arranges everything for you. We did a houseboat tour, which was also a very good experience.

The water wasn’t running hot. We were told to wait 15minutes. The taxes of spendings are never included, which was unusual and unexpected for us. Cold drinks are never really cold. No bottled still water available.

Beautiful lakeside setting with top notch rooms, excellent food and the friendliest staff. We chose to extend our stay.

This property is straight out of a heaven, it was a perfect stay . One stormy afternoon we were stuck due to flight cancellations and we wanted to stay some where and then we found purity . Original plan was to stay only two nights till flight service resumes but the place was so good that we extended for another 3 nights . Big shout out to Manager Mr Sujith , reception representative Mary and chef Mr Lijo they made us feel like king and queen during our stay at purity. The food and service is one of the best India , and we travel a lot.

Range of choices were very poor

A fantastic spot from which to explore the Kerala backwaters. The hotel organised a half-day Sikkara boat tour and for the remainder of our (too short) stay we relaxed by the pool and dined on the beach. Recommended!

Lovely spot but ruined by constant cawing of crows

Perfectly situated on the Lake Vembanad banks, with a rimflow swimmingpool & view in which you can get lost for days, & great selection of local dishes The manger & staff are very friendly, but the service has much room for improvement & lacks quality, speed & attentiveness Even though booking the suite for 4 nights we were placed in room 15 for the first 2 nights: the original bedroom of the old homestead with mildew walls, rising damp issues, old bathroom (chipped, stained bath), limescale crusted glass sink. Also the only room without an outside area overlooking the lake. We requested to be moved to Room 1, as per our booking (the best room on the property, with the lake less than 2 meters away) Pool towels are old, tatty & stained 28 guests, but ony 12 loungers ans towels When ordering food & beverages outside mealtimes, expect to wait up to 45 minutes for something basic like soda Spa is right next to the Kitchen, which is always noisy & thus makes it hard to relax during the lovely ayurveda treatments. When bringing this under the manager's attention, his response was that this has been the complaint of numerous guests, but the owners are not planning on rectifying the sutuation Certainly not the quality / service you expect from a 5-star, Relais & Chateau hotel. A gem of a hotel in terms of views and scope for relaxation, but needs some serious polishing
