We booked for what you see in the photos as the property (which looks quite pleasant), not realizing that the dingy old building across the road would be where we actually stayed. Wasn’t ideal, noisy, old and dirty (especially the bathroom, which was also very outdated). Wouldn’t book again but was a place to sleep for the night.

Alright location and the rooms are what you need

We waited over 20 minutes to be let in. The staff were not overly helpful at all, tried to take a photo of my card to send the bond back. They weren’t overly happy when I said no. The rooms were average for the price, hooks etc all slipping and falling off. Bathroom fan barely worked and drenched the bathroom. The coffee sachets were all solid. Dishes were dirty. There were ants in one rooms bed the next day. Honestly if you just need a place to crash go for this but we were less than impressed.

You get what you pay for. The bed's were comfy, but that is about it

Check-in Process: Reception was unmanned upon our arrival. We waited for over 20 minutes and rang repeatedly before anyone appeared. - Unexpected Fees and Privacy Concerns: Upon check-in, we were informed of an unannounced $100 room bond, which is not stated on your website. Additionally, the receptionist requested to take a photo of my ID and credit card on his personal phone, which I refused. - Room Cleanliness: The condition of the room was unacceptable. There were cobwebs across the front door, faecal matter on the toilet seat lid, a squashed spider in the kitchen sink, and a sticky kitchen floor. Furthermore, I found used false fingernails in the cupboard when reaching for the heater.

Bad wifi - no one at reception to check me in. Lock box would not work. Phones were off due to afterhours. Had to wait 30 minutes to gain access to room.

I arrived to check in to see a note on the door to call reception. this would be a barrier for Deaf persons with no option of texting. Despite this check in was smooth and I was able to access the room key with ease. Kitchen wasn't well equipped for the amount of people we booked the room for. The same with bedding and towels. We booked for 5 people and there were only 4 towels, two beds set up, no bedding for the fold out couch. Rang reception to ask for these items and was met with there's towels and bedding in your room, I reminded that we were a family of five and required these items. I was asked if I needed them now as they didn't service rooms until the next morning I replied yes, we have five people. Waited 30mins until someone arrived with bedding. The blanket had a very strong unpleasant curry spice smell so I didn't use it for the fold out couch, lucky I had my own blankets in the car. I had to ask for the towels again, and also a pillow because again five people and only 3 pillows. Communication and understanding took a while but we got there eventually and the person was very lovely. The room needs a proper clean- clean under furniture, wipe behind microwave etc. Stairs creak really loudly. Bathroom door frame needs fixing. Had to put the table up against the front door for safety as we didn't trust the door lock. Can't really comment on the reception staff service as no one met them.

I was in one of the new rooms across the road. I had stayed here before and the new rooms seem to have slighly better facilities. Such a great value motel and perfect for my trips to lower hutt.

Only issue I had was some family checking in around 1am which was quite annoying as they were outside my room and quite noisy. No complaints about the facilities and the issue was really how inconsiderate the guests were...not the hosts.

Had a horrible smell, cleanliness was very questionable. Be aware that they take photos of your licence and debit card instead of viewing your licence and debit card which leaves you vulnerable to fraud. I ended up cancelling drivers licence and debit card. We checked in and just over a later we checked out after telling our family that our room was the pits. We ended up cutting our losses and bunk in with family. Photos are deceiving. We were that brassed off we forgot to take photos.

Staff person was great. I arrived at 9.30 PM - half an hour later than I’d indicated. He had to come back onsite to give me a key

Even though there was only myself, the booking was for two people. There was only one towel, no flannel, and no bath mat - which, on a vinyl floor is a bit of a health and safety concern

The bed was comfortable and we had a good night’s sleep. However, overall there were several things that could be improved, particularly cleanliness, communication, safety, and ensuring the facilities advertised are actually provided.

We stayed at Champers Motor Inn and unfortunately had quite a few issues during our stay. The Wi-Fi was very spotty, which meant we couldn’t use the TV properly as it relied on the internet. There was also no one there to greet us when we arrived, and there were no face cloths provided. The advert stated that the room had electric blankets and a radio, but neither of these were available. We were also never informed that a bond would be taken, which was unexpected. We also found some of the electricals in the room to be concerning and not in the best condition, which made us uncomfortable using them. Unfortunately, we also found cockroaches in our room, which was particularly disappointing and raised concerns about the cleanliness of the accommodation.

We liked how spacious the living area was and the equipment that was provided in the kitchen to use for cooking. The beds were comfy and the rooms were nice and tidy. The Motor Inn was a convenient distance to the off ramp but without the noise! We were all very happy with our stay.

There were only 2 heaters provided, we had to share a heater between 2 rooms as we utilized the bed in the living space. That was the only downfall we had.

Overall, I had a very comfortable stay and would happily return again. I appreciated that they provided essential amenities, and the staff were friendly and regularly checked whether we needed fresh towels, which was a nice touch. However, I do think the restocking of other supplies could be improved. As we paid $362 for a three-night stay, I expected essentials such as milk, toilet paper, and rubbish bags to be replenished during our visit. It didn't seem quite fair that these items were not restocked. Despite this, I enjoyed my stay, found the accommodation comfortable, and would definitely consider staying here again.

Unfortunately, there were several aspects of our stay that we didn't enjoy. The noise from the guests in the room above was very noticeable, and every movement caused the room to creak, making it difficult to relax or sleep. The walls also seemed poorly insulated, as we could clearly hear the neighbouring guests throughout the night and early morning, which significantly affected our comfort. The shower area was quite small, and the water pressure was weaker than expected. We also found a cockroach that walked across our bed, which was very concerning. Additionally, there was no washing machine available, which would have been a useful amenity for a longer stay. It would also be a nice touch if Milo were included alongside the tea and coffee options provided for guests. Overall, I think improvements to soundproofing, pest control, and some of the facilities would make a big difference to the guest experience.

Waited for ages at reception.. sliding door into reception was off its hinges so I couldn't get in. Not sure if there was a language barrier but the guy on reception was very blunt and disinterested

Room clean and comfortable. Good cooking facilities, nice hot shower. I was grateful for a replacement heater when the one in my room stopped working.

Door was very sticky and got worse after rain. No wi-fi information available. No plug or dishcloth so hard to clean dishes properly. An extra blanket would have been appreciated.

Looks as though people had been living in the room, cooking smell, upholstery & walls were filthy. There was no one at reception when we arrived at 2.45pm had to ring a number to get our key from the lock box, even though check in is from 2pm, so had to find the room yourself - noticed a few other guests looking confused and doing the same thing on arrival after us. View from our bedroom window was their rubbish tip - old mattresses, toys etc

We had a family event and booked four rooms. Room 24 - good layout, open plan lounge/kitchen/dining room. Great shower pressure; single beds very comfortable; guests in main room said bed was above average. Heating was good. When I asked for towels on day 2, this was done timely. Room 23 - beds comfortable. Room 30 - bed comfortable, room had everything they needed. Room 27 - bed comfortable, room had everything they needed, good shower pressure. Location - close to shopping. That they could accommodate all our family members appealed to us and was the reason we booked there. Bond was refunded timely.

Room 24 - Outside lights shone into smaller bedroom preventing good night sleep. (block out curtains or blinds would resolve this). Noises very loud (constant humming, not sure what it was and on both nights was not quiet until after 10pm, so very thin walls). Room 23 - room upstairs smelt musky like it had a ceiling leak at some stage or poor ventilation. Shower pressure poor. Room 30 - Shower pressure poor. But the worst was the female Reception Staff member on the Saturday 30th - rude and demanded a $400 bond when our first family arrived. When told, we had already paid, she did not believe my family member and was very abrupt/poor customer service. I did not arrive until after 8pm and the cost of Booking.Com was $1388.52 but $1440.10 was charged to my account and a second amount for $408 charged also earlier that day. When I got to reception, no one there. I rang the phone number on the door, it would not let me leave a message! I went back the next morning, again, reception was locked up. Rang and this time was able to leave message re extra charge as not stated on Booking.com when we booked. Later in the day, I rang back and spoke to a human being. They said it was a bond and we would get it back once rooms were vacated and inspected. I have never had this bond situation in the 10 years I have been using Booking.com both in NZ and overseas. Was a real negative on such a positive family weekend.

Our room wasn't clean at all, very dusty and don't trust the bedding sheets aswell.Found hair in the shower and toilet wasn’t clean. Me and my cousin traveled from Taupo and we supposed to stay for one night,we paid checked in around 6 pm and ended up looking for another place on the same night due to bed bugs (non of us couldn't even sleep) I don't recommend this place for elderly or young children. We paid $142 for a filthy room 🤦‍♀️

Staff were never around, i arrived during the day and there was noone there to greet me. Had to call to recieve a code for the key box. Never saw them during my stay. Would have been nice to see someone at the main desk.

Location close to everything

Arrived at site and had to call a number to check in, when they arrived some 15mins later there was no pleasantries just handed the key and told what unit number, not even where on the facility it was. Had to check out early the next morning so left keys in drop box only to be charged an extra $100 for 'lost keys' - they replied back advising that their staff looked in the 'wrong' drop box ( there was only one drop box to leave the key in ! ) . . .

The mattress was very bouncy....not as comfortable as the other rooms I stayed in previously there. A shame tge lampshades couldn't work.

The room was clean but the shower and bathroom basin were clogged the moment I turned the tap on. I appreciated the urgent availability to phone.

The sink counter is built too close to the main door giving me little space to walk in and out of the room.

No table and chairs in living area. Very little crockery. No dish cloth. Shower over bath would be hard to access for older or disabled people. Office closed at 7pm not midnight.

Location for ferry was perfect and place in general was comforatable and spacious.

No ability to wash dishes, no teaspoons available to use. The wifi would not connect and when it did would disconnect the second you searched for a web page. Stayed 3 nights never once saw a person to ask about this. Towels weren't changed.

Bit noisy next to a main rd, Harleys and V8's, but a visit to Rosie's up the road helped quench the sound......
