Breakfast is very good.
Hotel is aged and some areas are run-down. My bathtub and basin had silicon like stains, drains likely choked and was a bit slow draining out. Spa is closed. Pool is not open for evening/night swims. Cable TV is really the local network. Forget about HBO, movies and international sports and news channels. Bed mattresses are not longer offering good support, and sagged in the middle. Luckily i booked twin beds instead of a king/queen bed and one of the single mattress was at least firmer.
Good
I had a generally comfortable stay at this hotel. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made the experience feel warm and personal. The room itself was clean and cozy—great for a short getaway. However, one issue stood out: the bath towels were unfortunately quite dirty. If you're planning to stay here, I’d recommend bringing your own towels just to be safe. Overall, a good value for the price, but a little extra prep will make your stay even better!
Nice food serounding the hotel . Easy to access to other shopping mall
We returned hotel at about 11 pm, there was not a single security personnel at the hotel lobby. At the counter, we saw a single person playing with mobile phone, without noticing us going into the hotel lift. The lift could be accessed by anybody to any levels.
we stayed there after returning from attending Aespa's concert in Singapore. it is located near JB Sentral so it was very convenient for us to head to the hotel. the room was okay, beds were clean and comfy, bathroom was also clean. the breakfast buffet was amazing!
Dont like: 1. it doesn't not come with free breakfast with the price paid. 2. Room facing the main road, very noisy with motorcycle passby almost the whole night, unable to have good rest.
When I checked in this hotel, the receptionist assigned me 14th floor room. The room was terrible, there was strong smell in the room, aircon leaving, room was dark the light was very old. It is totally different from what i saw on the internet. I went down to complain about the leaking, and they changed my room to 7th floor. It is renovated room. A huge difference for the room, the bed is new, room is bright and the bathroom is new. I wonder why the reception did not put me to 7th floor, there were empty rooms. I paid Rm270 per night. Luckily i went to ask to change room, otherwise I would have stayed in an very old room. I won't go back to this room
Toilet was extremely dirty. Seat was black and when I wiped it, it was blackish green. See photo of the toilet paper. Obviously not cleaned. Hand towel had lipstick stains on it. Ceiling was full of mould. Don't stay in room 1420. The room is worse than your public toilet.
The court hangers were had fungai. The staff woke me up early in the asking to change room. The room had no windows. The toilet pipe was weird as hell, there were no trigger on the pipe.
We stayed at Crystal Crown Hotel Johor Bahru from 29/3 to 1/4 during the Raya holiday for a short Singapore trip. Chose this hotel because of its location near CIQ and reviews mentioning spacious rooms. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The hotel and room were old and outdated. Shower water pressure was inconsistent — it stopped and started while using, which was very annoying. TV was small, fridge wasn’t turned on, and basic amenities were lacking. The worst part — my son's soft toy (a SGD18 dragon from Universal Studios) went missing from our room on 31/3 while we were out. He was very attached to it and slept with it every night. The only people who entered the room were housekeeping. We reported the incident to the front desk, but they couldn’t give any answer. At check-out, they asked us to write an incident report and wait for their investigation. After two days, Azhar from the hotel replied saying they are not responsible for lost items and asked us to make a police report. Seriously? They expect guests to travel back to JB just to report a missing soft toy? This response was frustrating and disappointing. No accountability, no empathy. We will never stay here again. The staff can’t be trusted and the hotel clearly does not care about guest experiences. Not safe, not worth it. Avoid this place.
Ok
Always stay here shen in JB
Staff is helpful & attentive
Bed not comfy
The floor in the bathroom very dirty.. Also the pillow, and the wifi not working..very bad and after breakfast all of us have diare maybe the food not hygiene, this is very old hotel, especially the internet very very bad not working at all, never come back here again.. NO MORE!!
Friendly staff
The renovated rooms look great. Though the TV has no signal. (Didnt bother to ask for help, since I'm not using anyway). No in-room safe, used the safe deposit at front desk. Similar to past reviewers, they seems to have poor housekeeping of the safe keys. Took them some time to find the keys that I've returned the night before.
We are returning Customers after a gap of 18 years. The Hotel has the same grand view from outside. Front desk staff were friendly and check in was smooth. All house keeping staff were great. Lot of renovations are going on in some floors. Our Room on 10th floor has already been renovated ( we requested for a renovated room). No mould or bad smells as reported by other customers. King size bed is super comfy, with clean linen and towels. Room is extra large being the corner room 1025. Lifts are clean Complimentary breakfast is not great, with just limited varieties and with only Malaysian dishes. Very hot spicy Sambal We could not enjoy. Fish ball curry and Coffee were horrible. There is a Spa with various massage treatments is available on 4th Floor and are reasonably priced. They have sauna and steam bath also for extra price. The swimming pool is large enough but not very clean and that was disappointing for us.
Fast Check in and very good location for good food all around. Rooms need renovations.
The renovated room was quite clean. The staffs were helpful too during our stay.
The room i stay it still haven't renovations and the breakfast same daily ..i hope different menu daily Thanks
Car park super narrow.
Hotel room is big but bath room is old.
Old hotel. Desperately needs makeover or just demolish entirely to make way for new construction of newer generation hotels. No shower screen in toilet. Old WC and carpeting.
Room looks old, different from posted pictures online. breakfast was great! Staff were very welcoming especially those assigned in the cafe
I had a spacious room (so called newly renovated) but the cleanliness was just average. First, I observed few strands of hair in the toilet and then the beds were not properly done. Lastly, the check out procedure, it was a bit off.. After queuing for sometime, I was told that I had to go to the next counter. There wasn’t any signage.
Good hotel. Spacious room, bathtub, toiletries except floor mat
The renovated rooms was well lighted and the toilet was decently cleaned. The pillows were stained and the beddings were clean but overly used. The towels and pillows required replacing.

Stay in may 2024. Room 1022. Newly renovated room triple superior room. Room is like 1 king bed and 1 single bed. Nice for 2 adults and 2 kids. It was a non smoking room but along the corridor, there are smoke smell, seems like someone is smoking in other room along the same floor. Hotel newly renovated is ok and clean but they might have forgotten something like disposable slipper, floor map, hand towel example and no hooks for hanging your towels too on the toilet Breakfast area at level 2 is enough to start your day but just nasi lemak, nasi goring, roti prata, mee mamak example. I think short start for sleep is ok. Hope the hotel can maintained the newly renovated room standard and really enforce other guests do not smoke in non smoking floor area. Walking distance to ksl and cheap grab ride to mid valley Southkey.
Booked last minute and arrived late from SG. Booked 2 rooms for 6 adults but upon checking in we were asked to pay for more if we want extra bedding. Staff was not helpful initially until we called Expedian customer service team to dispute. Non smoking rooms smelled like smoke and bathroom sink was clogged. Breakfast was okay.
Great..
It was great!
Newly renovated and clean hotel room. Breakfast menu average.
Spacious, clean and very close to KSL. Large open air food centre next to the hotel.
Towels are stained. Carpark very tight. Worst customer service experience by a male receptionist during checkout, was initially assisted by a nice female receptionist. However she did not know where our deposit receipt was so she passed us to the male receptionist. However the tone he used was unbelievingly rude and made us wait until everyone who came after us was served.
First, we are the regular guest for Crystal but we dint come back for few months back because of the WiFi is not working at all for the past visits. And this time round, we are back just to give it a try one more time. But unfortunately everything mess up with the first check-in, we stand, Q at the reception start from 230pm, Q for 30mins till 3pm,only got a sentence from the staff name 'Melvin' said that 'room are not ready yet' and he told us that 'he can't do anything '. So meaning to say we have to Q Again after the room done? His answer is 'yes'. We really don't understand what procedure and standard of this but we don't have a choice till the room is ready since we paid for the room. We been chasing them for few times after 3pm and till 430pm then only we get the room! Our plan was totally spoiled by this late check-in. This is considered as late check-in, so are able to do the late check-out too without any charges? We don't bother to ask and reception staff don't bother to offer too, so is this fair for what we paid?! I believed is a busy week for hotel, since they already aware and why don't they stand by more staff for housekeeping, and also, only two staffs/two counter opened during the peak time of check-in from 230pm to 3pm?! After waited for 2hourstill we got the room another night mare come again, the WiFi in the room, is not working at all AGAIN! We really exhausted with all the hiccup and not able to argue with hotel anymore but this really shouldn't be the standard and service we paid for executive studio. We are really really disappointed with the service especially the reception staff 'Melvin'. The only good this is the hotel location so probably we won't be back for next time and is not recommended too for friend with the facilities of service they provided. Thanks
Toilet ceiling is dripping, informed staff to repair but in vain. we have to go out to use the public toilets.
Property could do with uplift and embracing more digitisation. It’s very old and requires some major renovation. Staff are very nice and polite. For example, security deposit could be charged to a credit card instead of cash. The wifi is also very slow and unstable. To be very frank, I would rather book elsewhere with a smaller room, but with better wifi.
Furniture is quite old
Hotel is old but renovated rooms are available. Its clean and big. Location is good for dining, massages and hair salons. Decent breakfast with accommodating staff. Room were value for money paid. The only issue i faced was toilet bowl in my room had water ponding. After flushing the water does not goes back to the neck of the toilet bowl.
Opted for newly renovated room whichnI did get assigned. But room is really just another of those small budget hotels you find all over JB. Price totally does not justify. Breakfast is not bad.
My deluxe room was big, clean and comfortable but when i check in,i was told to pay a $10 rm for tourist fee per room, and when i checking out,the counter staff ask me pay $10 rm again, say that they got no record for my payment, luckily i kept the receipt to prove.. pls take note..
Newly renovated! (prolly not long before the borders opened up) Large bedroom, clean and spacious with full amenities. Comfortable beds and pillows, allowing a comfortable and restful sleep. We only had an issue with the carpark situation. The carpark is located at the back of the building, and pretty narrow with pretty weird turnings and pretty steep slopes. If your car is slightly wider or your car is lowered, you will definitely face some issues. The only other choice is to "get lucky'' by hoping that there are lots at the front of the hotel, or you can park at the lots slightly before the hotel.
11th Flr ( 1120 ) not been "revamp" . Most of the past booking the room looks good as we are frequent visitor. This time round notice this room is dirty especially bathroom !
Perhaps to consider refurbishing the rooms.
hotel need to upgrade
Front desk lady was so Cheerful, Friendly and Helpful during our check-in. The room we booked was different from webpage, was old and run down. Only bed and pillows are comfortable. others in-room stuffs are om to use. TV was satellite so not smooth at all and not much programs too. wifi also up and down during our 2 nights stay. very nearby walking distance to KSL shopping mall.
Nothing
I didn’t like is the car park very narrow and clamp and room wifi no connection.
Bus stops, Food choices and malls next to hotel. Bathroom needs repair with a leaking bathtub and a choke basin. Layer dust seem on furniture in the room
After reading a few reviews I was a little concerned but everything was fine and great! The rooms were large, the wifi wasn’t bad and the location is convenient for food. The carpark seems a little old though, and the water needs time to heat up properly
the hotel is quite old.the room is nothing to talk about.there are no toiletries until i call the front desk. the tv is spoilt & the kettle need a few tap on the power point to get it to work.the breakfast buffet restaurant is abit cramped with narrow tables. normal breakfast spread
A significantly budget hotel with a 4 star experience. The breakfast spread was value for money and the hotel is located in a convenient location beside 2 large Chinese restaurants... A money changer and a bakers need cum packaging store. Very pleased with the staff of Crystal Crown hotel and esp a heartfelt thanks to Mr W. Kathri for his helpfulness to store our luggages.
Booked via Agoda and got a much lower price than hotel's website. Booked the newly renovated room. Was worried on 3 star but totally no issue. Bed was OK. Toilet amenities well stocked. Only issue for long time for check in and out. Hotel collected RM100 as deposit and then refund. This process can be improved to speed up.
Hotel need refurbished.
Rundown
The room, front counter service is good. But the morning breakfast buffet for Sunday is below my expectation especially the Loti Canai and Egg Counter by a Fat Malay guy. The person (guy) is not able to manage and unable to cook any egg except for Canai. When the lady cook is there, even when busy she is still able to serve fried eggs. For the guy, he directs all customers to get scrambled eggs.
1 out of 5!! the worst experience ever, i stayed here 3 days 2 night. on the 2nd day around 10:40am there's someone open my door..!! i didnt call nor conplaint because i dont want to make big fuss. I cant control my anger when during check out we already call to pickup our bag inside the room.. upon checked out at counters we even remind the reception aby out luggage.. we going out then to clinic bcause im not feeling well, when i back to hotel the luggage havent pickup up yet! my transportation arrived , i missed my bus that's scheduled at 2pm!! i missed my transportation that pick me up from hotel!! how much my money wasted there!! i even complaint at reception girl, and she is the worst she blaming me bcause not putting the luggage outside the room???!!! what the .. who the hell putting luggage outside unattended!! the manager not even act!! worst hotel ever!! bad service!
First time stayed in Dec 2022 Second time stayed in Jan 2023 Pros Location and spacious room Cons Old, creaking bathroom door, moldy bathroom wall, air conditioner noisy, not cold enough and dusty, worn out bed and fixtures, most staffs are not friendly, very narrow route inside carpark building (drive extremely slow) and limited carpark spaces
Date : 8th Nov - 9th Nov 2022. Room : 132*. I forgot if it is 1321 or 1325. Location : The hotel is located right in front of Jalan Kota Tinggi - Johor Bahru. Sometimes simply known as Jalan Tebrau. It is centrally located in the heart of the city. It is easily noticed from the main road. There are chinese food courts just across the road and within walking distance, there are 99 speedmarts. A lot of city busses passed in front of the hotel. Reception and check in : The lobby is spacious and clean. It also looks clean and shiny. We checked in around 9pm. The lady assisting me was Ardinah (if I am mistaken). She forgot to tell us briefly about anything, including breakfast venue. However it is a smooth process. Room : The room was spacious. There are so many empty spaces to walk around. There are sofas, work tables, tvs and fridge. All are working well. The bathroom is big and the bathtub is nice. However when I shower, water leaks from the tub to the floor. The toilet bowl is from the 80s I think, it flushes super slow. The bed was massive and comfy. The lighting inside the room is as per picture attched, very dim. The view is amazing tho. The carpet is dark. The room isnt sound proofed, I can hear motorcycles at the road around 3am. Facility : Parking is confusing. But I get to park at level 1 which is kind of steep. Elevator works well. There are iron provided in my level. Getting to parking level 1 thru G level is confusing. Breakfast : Nasi Lemak, Fried Mee, Chicken Curry, Sausages, Wedges, Salad Station, Porridge, Roti Canai, Bread and Omelette. The food are decent. Nasi Lemak taste good. But the main meal for me is Roti Canai. It is not a frozen roti canai. The curry was awesome. The Roti Canai is soft but crispy. Delicious. Pool : Didnt try. But looks okay. Satisfaction : 7/10. Sleep quality is 7/10. Bed 10/10.
Hotel condition is good. Service is also great. Good value for money. There is also free hotel breakfast. At night during weekends, there is a pasar malam night market nearby. Would recommend if you plan to stay over in Johor
newly renovated but cleaniness is not there. hot water need mins to get hot and basin got flooded with water..
Not recommend
Check in - was OK. maybe due to there was no queue yet. 2 staff manning the reception. 1 was handling the check - in while the other i assume is handling the other enquiries by guests. Room - Booked a Crown Executive.. hmm sound wow.. but room was bad. toilet with stains, aircon - not even cold. TV cant even watch the channels as it was 'hanged' mostly. requested for a room change - but still get the same floor due to the bathtub request as it only available in Crown Executive rooms. New room same condition hence at last requested to have a standing fan which reception say must liase directly with the Housekeeping team as they are unable to advise or assist. Breakfast - was great. Malaysian food. Nasi lemak is their special i guess as my 2 days stay - nasi lemak remains. Swimming pool - no towels provided hence required to take from room before going to the pool. and it is crowded. WIFI - dont bother cant even use as signal not strong. Room service - i would say it better if you find food outside of the hotel as not much items / food choices for room service order. If you are lazy to go out.. get GRAB food delivery. surronding the hotel - 7 mins walk to KSL. Nearest food is outlet is walking distance however only 1 muslim stall while the rest in chinese which i assume is non halal. I guess the housekeeping assisted alot to make my stay as comfortable as they can..
When we want to check in, the queue was not well organised. We requested for a room with bathtub and saw the staff acknowledged with a short laughter. When we enter the room, i feels that something was not right with the room and realised that there were not 'kiblat' direction which was quite weird for a hotel in Malaysia. At about 4am in the morning, my husband sleep was disturbed when he heard kids footstep. It seems like outside the room as after that he heard a knocking sound on the door. It was quite weird to have kids left by their parents at that hour. We check out early because we worry that unexpected things would happen to us. It was at room 13-12.. The staff also keep the payment in his pocket after receiving payment from us.. Quite weird..
Booked this 1 night stay for 5 aug as a last min plan because we decided to go in to jb a day earlier but they did not have the same room type as our initial booking for 6 to 9 aug, which was the newly renovated room because they were fully booked. We just accepted and thought it shouldnt be that bad and was given an older room on level 12. The room is super run down, the aircon does not work well, we would wake up in the middle of the night in sweat. The toilet's condition is very bad as well. There was mold at the sink and bath tub area. The showerhead cannot be removed fyi. The noise insulation of this hotel is also very bad as you can hear the vehicles driving pass at night. We had a hard time sleeping throughout our entire stay there. We paid approx 60+ sgd per night for our stay here. I really would not recommend staying here for the price you are paying for... Just top up a bit more and stay in better hotels.
Booked 3 night stay for the newly renovated room. The room is ok, the aircon does not work well as its not cold when it reaches the middle of the night. The toilet's condition is ok. All their rooms does not have a safe. So do not bring your valuables for your trip if you really planning to leave them in the room. The noise insulation of this hotel is very very bad as you can hear the vehicles driving pass at night. We had a hard time sleeping throughout our entire stay there. I choose Crystal Crown JB for it's location and quality. It's easy for me to get to my places of business and every other daily necessity like food, mall, and convenience stores are within walking distance. Guest services has been very adequate. The staff are on point with the arrival experience - remembering me every time I check-in. All my staff interactions with Hafiz, Adrina and Kartigesu (forgive me if I spelt the names wrongly) have been pretty hospitable with a special mention to Zaor whose smile and couteous mannerisms are super hotelier-like, I really enjoy that. The tangibles are pretty adequate as well, with enough amenities. Rooms are recently refurbished, comfortable bed, nice armchair with ottoman, huge workdesk, mini fridge, cold aircon - pretty much everything I need. Oh and breakfast is a pretty nice spread with tasty dishes. For a 3 star property, Crystal Crown JB is a perfect one to stay at.
Overall great location of the hotel. However, the cleanliness of the linen and towels can be further improved. Blood stains can be found on sheets.
Conveniently located about 5 minutes walk away from KSL, breakfast buffet was great. Air conditioner seems faulty, the room was only cooling after the entire night of lowest temperature with highest fan speed setting. Shower head was also faulty, overall hotel and room condition is rather old and run down. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly, gave us an extra bed cos we had 3 pax but booked a room with two twin beds. Should consider removing the small mirror facing the bed and have a full length mirror near the door instead, seems creepy to have a mirror looking at the ceiling when you’re lying down.
Newly renovated? More like poorly renovated. Seems like they don't fix things that matter, like the shower, bidet and the toilet door. And the dust under the bed is since ancient. Maintenance housekeeping really not doing their job well.
Breakfast is too simple and little. Some dish are cold. Roti taste good.
Hotel check-in was slow as there were too many checking in at the same time, at 2 pm. The older man at the counter helped but was confused about how many nights I was staying. The room was nowhere like what I saw on the website; the room was spacious, kind of empty at the same time. They had renovated the rooms, but badly, the bathroom now has a sliding door on the outside of the original door frame and cannot be locked. The water pressure was adequate, not fantastic, and I had to wait 5 to 10 minutes to get hot water, wasting water while it was flowing. The room had no slippers, and the wooden floors were not cleaned, so I had to get a pair of slippers outside. The hotel shops, spas, and all facilities except for the pool are closed, so nothing apart from the room there. The nearest food area by foot is the food store, about 8 minute's walk to KSL Mall. The surrounding areas are all shuttered also. Next time will try New York Hotel or KSL Resort Hotel if staying in JB. They have food stores outside or a mall nearby for supplies. Lastly, if you stay at this hotel, bring your amenities like shampoo and toothbrush as the ones given at the hotel are really not too good, and on day one, there was also no hand soap.
5 to 7 mins Walking distance to KSL Shopping Mall. Reasonable buffet breakfast. For all types of travellers. Fast recovery in customer service.
1.room was nicely renovate with new interior however bathroom door has no lock & not secure. 2.Breakfast was really nice.Have to try their nasi lemak. 3.Walkway going to swimming pool was quite dark but the pool was nice. Have a great time with my daughter.
Value for money. Impressed with room's lighting level especially if one need to do office work in room. However air cond regulator is v user unfriendly
Have a good night stay in Crystal Crown Hotel. The staff were friendly, good location with walking distance to KSL Mall and also a big street foodcourt opposite. Although the hotel has a spa, you need to pay if wanna use the sauna and steam room. Also there isn't a gym.
This Crystal Crown Hotel is located near KSL shopping mall and within walking distance to FnB outlets . Provide reasonable breakfast meals and hotel services are just as great . Is also value added as price range are good in my opinion however, they could have improve the range of TV channels or at lease more movies channels for individual selection .
parking area not suitable for big & long vehicles.
Expected the outcome with the value. Overall met our basic needs for a night stay.
With regards i was told to pay for new reno rooms even I’m a gold member can you look into this - thanks
Friendly & Enjoyable Stay
The hotel is a bit old. But overall it was a good stay
The photos of the hotel looks amazing but when I entered, the room looks dated. The bathroom has only a single unadjusted shower head and the shower curtain had stains on them. The pillows are not comfortable at all.
everything was fine. the deposit for the hotel is rm100 not rm500 as per the expedia stated. the parking was free and the room also clean.
Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Very near to KSL Shopping Mall.
Room was spacious enough for 3 with a king & twin bed. Room is clean & newly renovated
This is definitely one of my worst hotel experience ever! The sound proof of this newly renovated hotel room is super terrible, the window soundproof is bad that I could hear loud vehicle exhaust as night as I was facing main road. Secondly, I was so unlucky to have a family staying exactly above, children running around, jumping and throwing stuff on to the floor, I could hear it so clearly from my roof and it's really annoying, got woke up few times by them in the late night. Lucky front desk sent security to warn them. Room cleanliness of also below expectations, cleaner didn't clean all the dust n rubbish under the coffee table as well as study table. In conclusion, this is my first and also last stay in this hotel.
Location is good. Check in procedure could be improved with improved staff training.
The original price of a room was SGD35. However after adding tax and everything, it is nearly $80. It is ridiculously over price.
Water heater is spoiled, bed sheet is dirty did not change, can see obvious stain on it
The room is spacious, clean and bright. Very convenient location for those without car - the bus stop is right in front of the hotel and there are several buses from JB Sentral. KSL mall is less than 5 min walk away. Many eateries in the area within walking distance. The swimming pool was nice. Breakfast was simple but pretty good. Overall very good value for money. (I have stayed in smaller rooms without breakfast for the same price range in JB downtown area).
Special price when I stay any discount 20-50 %when customer come back again
Location Good price good
Location is good as its on main road and it near KSL Resort.
The building is old but the rooms have been renovated and cleaned. The food at the Japanese restaurant is very delicious. The breakfast was very delicious Malaysian food.
Car parking not adequate for hotel room guests. Appears occupied by either staff or outsiders. Was fortunate to get the last lot at the highest car park floor.
