宿へは駅からタクシーで行きましたが、バスを使って最寄りのバス停から徒歩でも十分に行けます。川が窓から見え、水の音に癒されました。真夏だったのですが、涼しさを感じ、秋もきれいなのではないかと想像します。 オーナーの方にはいろいろと本当に詳しく説明していただき、助かりました。またちょっとしたお話も出来て良かったです。 宿にはちょうど良い湯加減の温泉があり、家族も楽しんでいました。 また泊まりたい宿です。

Onsen is really nice addition to the stay. It can get crowded during weekend, mostly foreigners are staying.

The tatami bed was kind of hard to sleep in, it is not as soft as the winter ones. I get hot easily in the room. Since it was an old bnb, floors were creaking and there is a loud sound of toilet flushing.

お盆期間にも拘らずお安く利用出来ました。温泉が貸し切りなので、空いていればとてもリラックスできて良いです。朝食はお高めですが、フルーツが美味しくて良かったかな。バス停からも10分位で着きます。

お風呂が今朝は空いて無くて30分待ちましたが入れませんでした。朝食はちょっとお高めです。

朝食が2000円だったがゆで卵、トースト（半分）が3枚、フルーツ盛り合わせ、フリードリンクだった。せめて、スープとベーコンかソーセージぐらい付けてほしかった。

La stanza era spaziosa, accogliente con letti tradizionali comodi. Il piccolo Onsen accessibile in maniera privata anche alle coppie era molto carino e affacciato sul bosco. Tranquillità pura. Ottima la colazione. La posizione è vicina ai santuari ma non vicinissima alla stazione.

Cette guesthouse est située au calme le long d un torrent dans les arbres à l’écart de la route principale et du flot touristique. On sent la proximité de la nature et son onsen naturel est un délice. Tout est simple, sans luxe mais confortable et bien pensé pour que les voyageurs passent le meilleur séjour. Je n’aurai pas pu rêver mieux à Nikko.

お風呂は貸し切りで利用できる点はいいです。広さは５～6名で入っても十分な広さです。ただし予約制ではなく、空いているいる時に利用できる方式ですので、他方が利用していると待たないと行けないですし、待ていても誰かに先に取られる恐れもあることは承知していないといけないです。

朝食は前日18時迄に申し込めば、準備してくれますが、食事の内容に対してかなり高額です。具体的には2000円ですが、パンとゆで卵、コーヒー程度ですので、相当残念。半額以下にしてほしいですね。ただし持ち込みはもちろんOKでお湯は頂けますし、電子レンジもあります。

Bellino, molto pulito, suggestiva la posizione in riva al fiume. Staff gentilissimo. Ricambio asciugamani giornaliero, prodotti monodose a disposizione con tutto il necessario per il bagno. Dotato di un piccolo onsen per 2 persone con vista fiume, toccasana rilassante dopo una giornata faticosa. Semplice ma buona la colazione, acquistabile in loco.

Muri e pareti sottilissime, si sentono tutti i rumori delle stanze vicine e dei piani adiacenti. Gli ospiti locali sono silenziosi ed educatissimi, ma se si incappa in ospiti internazionali rumorosi può essere fastidioso.

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour. L'onsen privé était apprécié après une journée de tourisme. L'emplacement est calme et paisible. Accès facile à pied entre 20 et 30 min des attractions touristiques comme le complexe Nikko-Toshogu.

Si vous ne prenez pas le petit-déjeuner de l'hôtel vous n'avez pas le droit d'utiliser les tables de la salle commune.

Hot spring with river view

Maybe because the high humidity in the area, the room spells very old. The furnitures are old as well.

Logement au top, j'ai adoré le Onsen semi-privatif au sous-sol. La chambre avec des tatamis pour le couchage était top pour moi, attention, c'est un couchage dur mais pour ceux qui aime c'est génial. Le personnel est très sympathique. L'emplacement pour moi est un gros plus, j'ai adoré Nikko et une randonnée que l'on a pu faire vers Yumoto en partant de Ryuzu no Taki.

The amenities were great (free green tea + coffee + water in the dining hall; snacks that you could purchase for less than ¥250 each; shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the bathroom and the onsen; onsen robe + towels). The facilities were very nice (lounge area adjacent to reception + the onsen is private and available for 30-minute periods with a beautiful view of the river and forest). Also, the hotel isn’t far from some key attractions (15-min walk to Toshogu shrine and adjacent shrines, 5-min walk to Kanmangafuchi Abyss). You can purchase breakfast the night before for ¥2000 and it includes three slices of toast, a plate of fruit, a boiled egg, and a free choice of drinks (tea/orange juice/milk) and jams. The staff were very friendly and helpful; I was late checking in because I was stuck on a mountain, but staff were very accommodating AND, most importantly, were so helpful and kind and called emergency services for me because I was struggling to get in contact with them. Because of staff at Turtle Inn, I managed to get down from the mountain safely and enjoyed my night at their hotel. I’m very grateful. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Mauvaise organisation de la privatisation du onsen. Pas de tableau de réservation avec le numéro de la chambre apparant. Soit vous descendez plusieurs fois par heure pour savoir si c’est disponible, soit vous faites la queue. Ça gâche le côté relaxant du onsen. Hôtel très isolé.

Petit hôtel un peu en dehors de la ville mais très au calme avec la rivière à côté. Le onsen que l'on peut privatiser. Le fait d'avoir le sentiment d'être en pleine nature.

A lovely little retreat next to one of Japan's major touristic sights. Restaurants in the village tend to be closed in the evening, so bring take-out/noodles or be prepared to drive.

Great place to stay for exploring Nikko. The owners are so kind and welcoming. Nice Japanese-Style room with private bathroom. Quiet and not far from to the main Nikko area (about 15min to the Shinkyō Bridge). Private onsen with a river view open the entire night! I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed in the traditional room which we loved and the view from the window was so beautiful. The atmosphere in the hotel was so calm and cozy. The staff were exceptional. The onsen was a bonus but really the setting could not have been better. I would love to return.

Nothing. My only advice in general about Nikko is that everything shuts down around 9, so if you are looking for taxi or restaurants after that you are lik ely to be disappointed. This is not Tokyo so plan accordingly.

Location was great. It was off the main road but still within walking distance of the shrines, restaurants, and convenience store and bus stop. The private onsen was awesome and relaxing after a long day of hiking.

We are very disappointed with our stay. Based on the reviews, we never expected our experience to turn out the way it did. This was the worst price-to-quality ratio of our entire 3-week holiday in Japan (likely because Nikko is currently overpriced/overtouristed). Our room (102) was located next to all the air conditioning units and machinery, making it impossible to sleep without earplugs. The bathroom and toilet need renovation (noise and water leaking). The isolation is really bad, we could hear everything from the adjacent room, including full conversations and people snoring throughout the night.

Walkable location to Toshogu Shrine and related attractions. Quiet neighborhood. Onsen bath available for private use (on 1st-come-1st-serve basis). Newer building. Nice dinner at nearby Bell Cafe.

Minimal facilities, with few of the gracious touches that can make a ryokan experience special. Definitely feels like a hostel focused on foreign tourists. Only one onsen bath, always occupied when we wanted to use it in the evening (we got in the next morning), water cooler than typical onsens (for foreign tourists?). Opened window of our river-facing room to enjoy sound of rushing water, but overpowering smell of fuel exhaust from onsen area forced us to close it.

The host was fantastic! She was very kind and helpful.

It was in a beautiful nature setting, an easy 20 minute walk to the town and famous temples and shrines. There were also restaurants nearby with local fare.

Even though usage was limited to 30 minutes, no booking system for the Onsen made it difficult to use when the hotel was busy. We missed having a Japanese breakfast option

La chambre était grande, donnant sur la rivière et les futons confortables. Il n'y a pas de restaurant, mais on peut réchauffer son repas et manger dans la salle du petit déjeuner. Le gérant nous a bien accueilli et donné toutes les explications sur l'hôtel et les environs. Enfin bénéficier d'un onsen "privatif" est un grand plus.

Ce n'est pas du tout un reproche, car nous avions choisi en connaissance de cause. Il faut néanmoins avoir en tête qu'on sera un peu loin à pied (15-20 min) des temples principaux. Par contre la magnifique allée des bouddhas Jizos de Kanmangafuchi est à 5 min de marche et vaut vraiment la peine au petit matin.

Ein nettes, traditionelles Hotel (Ryokan), zentral zu den Sehenswüdigkeiten der Weltkulturerbestätten gelegen, zudem sehr ruhig an einem rauschenden Fluss am Waldrand. Freundliche hilfsbereite Besitzerin, die passabel Englisch spricht und für unsere Abreise frühmorgens ein Taxi bestellt hat (übrigens: am Bahnhof stenen Taxis zur Anreise bereit). Die Zimmer sind traditionell einrichtet. Der kleine Onsen (japanisches Wellness-Bad) im Haus mit herrlichem Ausblick in den Wald kann ohne Reservierung (fast jederzeit) für jeweils eine halbe Stunde privat und kostenlos genutzt werden.

Das “europäische” Frühstück war einfach aber ok (Obsteller, Toast mit Butter, Käse und Ei,Tee oder Kaffee)

Location is amazing, peaceful place in a nice environment. There is a private onsen, you can use it with the view on the river. Free water and tea. Helpfull and sweet people

Bed is a bit hard

Dit is een heel fijn hotel. Gelegen haan de rand van Nikko, in de rust tussen de bomen en aan een riviertje, en toch op minder dan een kwartier lopen van de tempels en heiligdommen. Een ontzettend fijne onsen met uitzicht op de rivier (anders dan veel Japanse onsen met een slot op de deur, dus voor jou of je gezin als je hem gebruikt), prettige en tamelijk ruime kamers met tatatami-matten (mijne had eveneens uitzicht over de rivier). Ook heeft deze accommodatie een grote en gezellige gemeenschappelijke ruimte, waar je ook echt prettig kunt gaan zitten, en waar je thee en koffie kunt pakken. De man die de receptie bemande en me wegwijs maakte was zeer vriendelijk en relaxed. Al met al zeer prettig en sfeervol. Ik verbleef er maar een nachtje maar was graag langer gebleven.

Eigenlijk was alles goed. Voor lichte slapers die niet al te vroeg wakker willen worden: neem zo'n slaapmaskertje mee, want rijstpapieren schermen voor de ramen ipv gordijnen! (Prachtig, maar met de vroege zonsopkomst in Japan word je dan wel vroeg wakker.) Er was (ik denk omdat het nu betrekkelijk rustig was) tot mijn spijt niet de mogelijkheid tot ontbijt, maar dat is ook snel opgelost, want onderaan de heuvel met de heiligdommen is daar gelegenheid voor. En je kunt dus wel gewoon een kopje koffie pakken 's ochtends voor je op pad gaat.

Es war sehr ruhig und idyllisch gelegen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Onsen hat uns auch sehr gut gefallen.

El señor de la recepción era más majo que las pesetas. La habitación, de estilo tradicional, muy confortable y con todo lo necesario. Además, el onsen era gratis y tenía unas vistas muy bonitas. Recomiendo reservar el desayuno (el café estaba increíble).

Por decir algo, la tele no se veía y a veces se oía al vecino de la habitación de al lado.

Absolutely my favorite place. A real gem. If you want to stay in a genuinely authentic place, this is for you. Tatami mats, floor chairs, futons, beautiful views. The host was so lovely and really took the time to show us around the facilities sand explain where local shops and restaurants were. She also stated the lovely walks. The onsen was my favourite thing about this place, beautiful views, clear instructions and wonderful water temperature. The hosts don't mind you bringing in your own food. They have free tea and coffee, a microwave and a hot water urn and a communal fridge and vending machines for alcohol or soft drinks.

Breakfast was offered at an additional cost, but the price didn't seem worth it in my opinion.

Situated by a lovely stream, it was a secluded and relaxing stay for us - all within walking distance of the key Nikko attractions. We loved the lady who ran the hotel who kindly gave lots of recommendations and the Onsen was fun and appreciated it being private.

waiting for the private onsen, as a group of other guests made private arrangements of using it one after the other, thus blocking us out for quite a while. Shouldn't be a problem though, usually.

La dame qui nous à accueilli était d'une exceptionnelle gentillesse et nous a mis à l'aise. Nous avons apprécié le petit déjeuner "western style" avec beaucoup de fruits (2000 yen/personne). Les futons étaient confortables et les couettes chaudes et moelleuses. Nous avons bien dormi. Nous avons aussi apprécié les yukatas mis à disposition et le onsen qu'on peut privatiser pendant 30 minutes. L'hôtel est à 10mins à pieds d'un arrêt de bus qui mène au centre de Nikko et aux principaux points d'intérêt touristiques. Il y a un grand frigo commun mis à disposition. Le soir on peut s'installer dans la salle commune pour manger son repas acheté à la superette. L'hôtel vend aussi des nouilles instantanées (250 yens).

Il y avait deux punaises qui se baladaient sur les murs de la salle commune... Heureusement qu'il n'y en avait pas dans notre chambre ! Mais nous étions sur nos gardes !! La chambre était trop petite pour laisser deux grosses valises ouvertes mais c'est un classique au Japon.
