Even behind the hotel, there is Medan Selera Bandaraya (Food Court) for travelers to have varieties of breakfast beside the hotel buffet. Pekan Rabu,Royal Museum, Masjid Zahir, balai seni even a very nice walkway along the river are around the corner.

Reviewed Jul 12, 2026I travelled to Alor Setar on a personal errand with an associate and booked two rooms at The Jerai Hotel, and from the moment we arrived in the wee hours of the morning, the staff impressed us by graciously holding our rooms without any hassle. Its location along a major downtown thoroughfare is wonderfully convenient — just an easy 11 minute walk to the Alor Setar railway station and about the same distance to landmarks like Zahir Mosque and the Alor Setar Tower’s observation deck. The rooms were warm and inviting, with wood floors, cushioned headboards, flat screen TVs, minibars, and tea and coffee facilities, while studios and suites offered even more space with sofas and separate living or dining areas. We enjoyed the reliable Wi Fi, 24 hour room service, and a simple yet satisfying breakfast spread at the coffee house. With a stylish lobby lounge, a modern restaurant featuring an open kitchen, plus a business center, meeting rooms, and free parking, The Jerai Hotel delivered comfort, convenience, and genuinely thoughtful hospitality — and we would definitely come again.

Reviewed Apr 21, 2026Location wise, Jerai Hotel is quite strategic. City Plaza is 5 mins walk away from the hotel, while the Alor Setar KTM station is just 15-20mins away. You could easily reach a lot of shops that surround the hotel within a 5-15mins walk. To top it off, the staff at the front desk are very friendly and helpful.
The room door has about gap below, which makes it not exactly soundproof. You could hear people talking along the hallway, opening and closing their doors. To make matters worse, despite being on a non-smoking floor, and thanks to the gap under your door, you could smell all the secondhand cigarette smoke from the guests smoking in the hallway. This happened in the evening and also a few times in middle of the night. Again, this is a non-smoking floor I was in and yet, this happened. If you wanted a peaceful night's sleep and a really smoke-free room on an actual non-smoking floor, this is the hotel to avoid.

Reviewed Apr 2, 2026The location is very near to the ETS station whereby i commuted with from Kuala Lumpur, the parking is spacious, there is a cafe at the parking lot in front of the hotel where we can dine at night and the breakfast offer variety of delicious food especially nasi lemak. The best thing is the hotel keeps the data of your previous stay and you can recall when is the last time you stay there. I found that very fascinating and excellent.
If I need to comment, there should be non-smoking rooms. Like maybe, reserve a few rooms or maybe one floor for non-smoking room and a viewable TV channel.

The ac was not cold and after breakfast we head back to room to find that ceiling was leaking inside the toilet. Fixed by the staff. We took a nap while waiting to check out, suddenly we heard that our door was open. A bit surprised that it’s still early for check out time and luckily we’re not naked. Please be more alert on this
