Expensive parking with little other options

The room was very nice, modern, and roomy. Plenty of space for 2 people. The staff were wonderful (special shout-out to Natasha at the front desk and Ralph at the valet.). You couldn’t ask for a better location in downtown Portsmouth - you basically can walk everywhere from the hotel (including over the bridge into Maine!)

For such an upscale Hampton, the breakfast was subpar (I’ve had better breakfasts at Hamptons that were <$100/night). Our first morning there wasn’t even any protein (there was biscuits and gravy but the gravy had little to no meat). The scrambled eggs were dry and clumpy.

Great location, great atmosphere on the cute street in front of the hotel and still super close to the city center and dining. We also love the pool and gym. Lobby also very pleasant and clean.

The hotel is in a great location to walk to everything in Portsmouth. It is updated and very clean. Prices were reasonable for peak summer. The pool area was well maintained and clean. We appreciated being able to street park rather than use the valet.

We were passing through on our way to Maine. The hotel is close to a terrific oyster bar - that's why we stayed there. It was convenient and comfortable.

cost for parking! sofa bed for our third person had sheets but NO pillow or blanket when we arrived. Also, we LOST a suitcase somehow when unloading!!

The location, the staff, the atmosphere - 10/10, no complaints. My issues were with the room itself, it was very dirty. I stay in a lot of hotels as I travel a lot, and Ive never really felt compelled to write a review until now. So after putting my things down I noticed the baseboards around the room. Covered in dust and dirt, just filthy. In the bathroom, there was mold in the shower, and the floors were really grimy around the edges. The light switches had caked on dirt in the crevasses. Just really substandard stuff for a hotel that charges over $300 a night. I know cleaning protocols were relaxed during covid, but that was 6 years ago. Cleaning staff definitely needs a bottle of disinfectant and better dusting practices. Probably wont be back.

the breakfast was the prepacked eggs they serve at chain hotels. You could smell the breakfast as soon as you got off the elevator and it stunk so bad. We had to eat out for breakfast during our stay. Also why is parking so much money?

Breakfast very poor. Cutlery plastic snd paper plates and bowls. Cutlery kept snapping Daughter was put in room next to generator which was incredibly noisy. Pillows were shocking. Really lumpy as if they had been washed badly. Really bad neck as a result. Beds were hard.

Modern hotel well located right in downtown Portsmouth, near restaurants and shops. Parking, like the Residence Inn across the street, is expensive. You can park on streets from 8 pm until 9 am for free but it is pay parking with QR code on sign in daytime. Better to use the Foundry garage a block away in daytime at $1 an hour. Clean rooms. Free breakfast was ok. Overcooked scrambled eggs are typical in warming trays but there was no frittata omelet alternative. There was no bacon, but biscuits and gravy were a difference, I thought I was in Texas. Coffee was ok in carafes, but previously at Holiday Inn Express in Wells, Maine, they had a machine that ground fresh beans for each cup. Time for Hampton and Marriott to step up with the coffee, just sayin....

Great property in a wonderful location for easy walking of all downtown Portsmouth restaurants, bars and shopping! Large, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and a great breakfast! If you’re spending a night in Portsmouth, stay here!

Super nice front desk staff, advised on street parking to allow us to save $45 for valet. Also allowed for a flexible check out time due to weather. Extremely nice staff. Coffee/water all the time. They provided umbrellas. Quiet location walkable to everything. Standard free hotel breakfast.

Pool was not enticing as it was small and crowded.

Unfortunately, there was an issue at 4am with a person who broke into a space and proceeded to make unacceptable comments over the fire alarm system. This caused panic throughout the entire hotel. My wife had a full blown panic attack that ruined the evening.

Hotel seems brand new. Nice lobby, breakfast area, pool and exercise room. Only negative is it’s either $45 a day to valet or you have to self park in a city garage. Lots of restaurants within a short walk.

Making you pay for valet parking at 45.00. We parked in the garage down the street. Inconvenience to guests that know it’s a ripoff to pay that much to park the car.

I like the location because it's in walking distance to restaurant's, bar's and shops. No need to drive or get a ride if you've had some drinks. Also enjoyed the breakfast.

Unless you pay $45 a night for valet parking, you have to try and find a parking spot on the street the costs $2 an hour for up to 3 hours and then $5 dollar's an hour. 8pm-8am is free though.

Room was clean and well taken care of. Breakfast was very good and well stocked. Close to parking garage and many restaurants and theatre. This is our second stay there and will make it our go to place to stay right downtown.

The hotel was in a great location within walking distance of the downtown attractions. The room and breakfast were fine and the staff was very helpful. The valet parking may have been convenient, but we found a less expensive option ($20 for 24 hours) at Foundry Place Garage, only a couple blocks away.

Rooms are classic Hampton Inn rooms. Clean and comfortable. Everything in the room worked. Everything about my reservation was managed efficiently.
