It was a good stay ,one knows what to expect from a City Lodge, and, they deliver. The stay pleasant, the staff are great, friendly and efficient. The room is good, probably needs an upgrade (my humble opinion), the bed is comfortable and the bathroom is adequate. The shower door did not shut fully and was somewhat bothersome. I did not have time for breakfast, but, I know that the breakfast here is good. Decent variety, very fresh and really nice staff to give you a good start to your day. I would stay here again, it's a good choice at a fairly reasonable price.

Nice hotel, just quite disturbing that as a smoker, you cannot go outside at the pool area to the smoking area after 9PM. They lock the door. So, in essence you are treated like a child, or a criminal and have to go out the front to the parking lot to have a cigarette. This also compromises your safety. I probably will NEVER stay there again, as this is the first hotel I have stayed in ever that does this and definately the ONLY CLHG establishment in the group that does this. A hotel and public area amenities are supposed to be avialable 24/7.

I feel very mixed about this hotel. The staff was quite nice checking us in, the pool seemed nice, and the restaurant was fairly nice as well. The halls smelled, our door did not lock (like not even a little bit), and a staff member opened our door two hours before checkout without knocking (and without using a key, just pushing the very unlockable door open). Luckily they had a safe, and no other incidents occured.

Easy and Comfortable sray, the staff are so welcoming and efficient at check-in. The hotelnis nuce and clean, a bit dated (my opinion) but a good, wholesome experience. The room is nice and neat, the shower us really good, big enough and very relsxing after a long day. That bed, I want to stick it in my bag and take it home. The breakfast, very good, decent variety and tasty and generous. Overall, impressive, I would return.

A great bang for your buck, 5 minute walk to the beach

When we arrived the place was fully booked, yet the payment was taken and still hasn't been refunded.

Very nice Breakfast, staff is great

Perfect location to ICC, rooms seemed recently renovated, new bedding, towels etc. My room 078 is on the ground / basement floor and whilst everything seems brand new there was an odd smell in the room, like a mix of damp and mothballs. Not sure if this is due to the lower floor location that picks up more moisture, but might be worthwhile for management to look into. Otherwise all great.

Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable.

Rooms are good and clean except for very limited stock in the room. Two people had to share a very small bar of soap twice and also for tea/coffee same story no refills. If there can be phones in the rooms to call reception in case of any emergency or need.

My stay was just as normal like the City Lodge I know.

We were very impressed with the cleanliness and safety we felt during our stay! The room was spacious and perfect for our family of three!

Serenity traveling

I was mainly out all day due to a conference, but the hotel environment was quite conducive and the staff were friendly each time i met them.

The cleaning stuff needs to properly clean the rooms. Our room was not cleaned when we not properly cleaned when we got there since there was hair all over the floor

Staff was very Friendly. Was clean, comfortable and relaxing.

Poor Air Conditioning when it's Piping Hot. Unable to Sleep. Don't stay here. The front desk can't print the invoice for the stay, when asked why they advise "Because we haven't paid our bills".

The property is well located with clean rooms and well served breakfast

I enjoyed my stay, although it would help if more staff is able to help guests to check-in as it took forever and it was the 31st which means they expected a large number of people. we also kindly request bar fridges if possible as ice was not easily available.

The hotels staff is friendly and professional, the rooms are clean. the only problems is the fridges, we have very small hotels and B&B's that have fridges. They have to move with the tomes and get organised. Drinking a hot beer in a hot City is not cool. We are a developing countryl but we have first world facilities.

The stay was average, check in was satisfactory, could have been better and staff were busy communicating with one another instead of helping customers. The hotel is slowly losing uts cleanliness and comforting look. I can safely say it wont take long for this to be another run down hotel. Was crowded and little check on sanitisation and visitors following Covid protocols. Was an agerage stay. Not what im used to from the City Lodge Group!

I had a wonderful time staying at city lodge, staff were friendly and professional and parking clean and safe on-sight,beautiful clean rooms and wonderful premises all-round, I would definitely recommend the next person to book there and I would bring my family back again.

Hotels.com stated a room with a bed and sleeper couch, however the hotel did not have this available. Although I was logged in while booking, Hotels.com is being dishonest and not allocating my reward night/sticker. The night lady manager did not apologise for the inconvenience. Actually she did not even welcome or greet us.

Put me at the last room when there are closer rooms available. No lift and one to carry my luggage. BAD

My stay was perfect. Room service and staff was good and quick.

My stay was great

Room was not swept daily the tiled floors had sandy which made it really uncomfortable. The phone in the room was not working. It was reported many times and not fixed. I had to walk to reception to request room service & house keeping all the time. Towels and bedding weren’t clean I had to request it to be changed.

For the fact that the beak fast was not included it make it horrible

It was concerning that none of the requested accommodation criteria was provided despite advanced and confirmed booking.

I battled with the aircon in the room

AMAZING - no words to describe the stay, other than AWSOME! In-house restaurant a huge bonus and such a delicious menu to choose from!! Well kept grounds and garden!

It was not so good because the room i had booked and paid for was not available upon -checking in so had to use alternative room which was smaller and less comfortable. Their system needs to be upgraded to snychronise in real-time what is available and what is not

I always stay there as it is convenient and there is secure parking.

The breakfast was definitely not up to standard and most certainly not worth the extortionate price of R175 per person. As a matter of interest, one of the hotels in a lower grade in the city lodge group, namely Twon Lodge, Bellville in CT has a far superior breakfast.

After an international flight one sometimes gets a complementary bottle of water definitely not here the room was ok for a short stay the area has lots of road construction in the area The area is sort of desolate however it’s a quick walk to downtown but must be careful the beach is also a short walk just be careful of the vagrants along the way

Amazing overalll experience

I loved the location of the hotel. It was central to everything that we needed. We hardly spent time at the hotelas we were out and about. The hotel provided us with enough comfort when we got back to rest

Air conditioner was making noise. I booked for 1 double bed with sleeper coach, they gave me a queen bed with no sleeper coach

Room smelled off frsh paint. Renovations on going. No lift. No help with luggage. Paid really high price for mediocre breakfast. Literally the price buys you steak dinner with wine.

Nice hotel, close to the beach. Perfect for the Comrades marathon.

Had an excellent stay

The restaurant was not open as it was under renovations. This was not told to me at the time of booking and was most certainly an inconvenience. City Lodge has become expensive for what you get. You can stay at numerous other hotels and guest houses with a higher star rating in and around Durban cheaper with breakfast included, where City Lodge Durban as a 3 star costs you nearly R1,300 per night and you the. Have to pay an extortionate amount of R160 per person for breakfast. You will be told that this is due to the buffet spread. Others that have this charge way less, or include it in the price. Who can eat that much for breakfast anyway???? I urge people to look around before booking here and this is said mainly because of I do not perceive City Lodge to be value for money anymore. When you question about the restaurant situation, you are met with a terrible attitude from the duty manageress of “I can book you at another hotel”........ shocking.

I would have liked to have included the breakfast but the cost is too high. With business stop overs it is not convenient to go somewhere else for breakfast. The price is too high.

The carpets looked dirty and old, the corridor and the room were smelling. Room is very small. Not at all what I expected for the price. It was definitely not value for money. I was under the impression that CITY LODGE is a reasonably clean hotel. The hotel was very noisy. I was sort of forced to stay there because I had already made the payment. Otherwise I would have run away from that place. I will never recommend this to any of my friends or family

The pool was dirty. I was put in a smoking double bed room and had to swap rooms for twin beds which was the only one available at that time. My children received a blanket which did not smell fresh.

The room was extremely humid and damp - almost as if there had been a flood a couple days prior. The sheets inparticular felt damp.

My stay was good but my check in was not pleasant. The person that assisted was not polite and didn't when queried about the price I was charged on my card as opposed to the invoice she showed me but didn't bother to give me a copy of, she was very unhelpful... Its only when I thanked her sarcastically that she called her manager who was a able to help me with a contact number and get a refund.

It was great. But the price I paid you is seemingly the same as a walk-in price. So whats the point of using yor services?

Hi , all I can say I had a wonderful time at city lodge durban.

Property seems like it was a cheaper hotel and has been upgraded pretty well.

The hotel and room were comfortable. Reasonably sized rooms.

Good experience but I thought the other guests were too noisy Friday night
