I was in the bathroom room and someone opened my bedroom door.i screamed and they apologized where it was another visitor or the cleaning staff. Unacceptable, I ordered room service over the phone, the food took a hour before it came. A standard cheese burger and chips and guess what it came cold. The blueberry cheese like was like it came out of a freezer. Complete waste of money if you ask me.

It is misleading to call this City Lodge Johannesburg airport - this is not the one at the airport, which is what we thought we had booked. This is a 10 min drive from the airport and the return taxi journey cost us £50.

It’s advertised as an airport hotel but is not at the airport. You need to take a taxi. If you want to be at the airport be sure to book O R Tambo City Lodge.

Ease of access to airport after a failed flight

Great hotel for day use with a long stop over. Staff were very attentive, rooms were clean and easy to get to from arrivals. Need to book direct with reservations to get a price. Will definitely use again.

They could do better with the appearance of the main reception area. The new update is dull and not welcoming. Not even a Christmas deco or some festive feel. Quite cold appearance.

They are refurbishing at the moment, so the breakfast service was difficult. The same price was charged regardless. They should have alerted you to the fact that the hotel was under renovation. TV selection is useless.

I normally stay at City Lodge OR Tambo but this was fully booked. The next best option was City Lodge Barbara Road and although the location is not as ideal for an overnight stay (a 10 min drive from the airport), I found the hotel very good, the highlight being the warm smile from the receptionist (Lewis?) who made sure I felt welcome and well looked after.

For an Airport Hotel this was excellent. From the staff to the comfortable room to the lovely food. An easy undercover walk from airport, you cannot go wrong booking here. We will be back.

looks like the property is new or under renovation. The room, though small was freshly designed with modern type decor.

The hotel I wanted was the one that is actually in the airport - not the one I ended up in. Very confusing to have two airport hotels. The one off airport was inconvenient and is very basic - no toiletries whatsoever, very small room. Under construction. The shuttle transfer costs about $28 US round trip for 5 minute drive.

Hello City Lodge Hotel Barbara Road : The waiter was condescending. Made me feel like i was asking for too much by making any request on the menu. Proceed to tell me city lodge is not like all the other hotels when request service at the restaurant. I honestly had to leave the restaurant and order room service. I did even mind the construction and the small of paint and dust but your waiter was not helpful at all.

The water in the shower is standing, like a swimming pool very poor

I felt mislead by the word airport, I went to the wrong believing it was adjacent. The transfer is charged and was a rip off. R120 pp. It’s in an industrial area.

The room was ok.

There was no option to have breakfast to go as I could not have breakfast and had paid for it. So I lost money yet a I could have been offered something considering I paid already.

My first time using and it was delightful. It needs a taxi or an Uber but once you are there it wonderful. There does appear to be some renovations going on, but it did not affect our one night stop. Recommended!

It's a very basic hotel for a stay near to airport, that's all, don't expect much given the price as well!

This is a nice hotel when transiting through Johannesburg. We spent a night on two separate occasions recently. The best aspect is the closeness to the airport. It is an easy 5 minute walk from the airport through a well li corridor that runs alongside the parking garage. The hotel has a restaurant with decent food. The rooms are fine with comfortable beds. I would stay here again if transiting through Johannesburg.

Reception Staff were great

I live that there was no problem with my stay and they made us feel like home away from home. I booked the hotel room for the week we stayed there and requested a later check out and it was not a problem I will use them again forsure

The hotel rooms need a deep clean.

The bed was fine.

I was in the basement. There was not an elevator to get to the basement. I had to role my suitcases down the stairs. Horrible experience. The tv cable was limited. The heater in the room worked inadequately. It took forever to warm up the room. I walked to the front desk to request an iron and board. Received the iron and board very quickly at my room. The iron was leaking water faster than I could iron. I went back up to the front desk to request another iron because the iron I had was leaking. The lady at the front called housekeeping for another iron. This time another iron and board never showed up. Highly disappointed.

Staff went out of their way to sort out a "lost property " item from the previous stay 2 days earlier. Thank you.

The attitude of the waitress at diner - should learn from the team at reception.

Breakfast was ok. Location was away from the airport and I had to pay for transport. It was too far to walk, (they told me 4km) but such a short drive.

I thought I was booking the OR Tambo City Lodge and didn't realize it was the "other" airport City Lodge. :( It was a hassle to get there.

I booked for the non smoking and they allocated us a smoking room and my partner had flu. When I asked if they can transfer us to Midrand waterfall they said it's impossible. Secondly Uber eat guy was not allowed to deliver to the door meanwhile in waterfall they do delivery with no hassles. Patient didn't even call us at the room that there is a delivery for us if they're not allowing Uber guys to walk in. What are the rooms phones for. I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE OF CITY LODGE BARBARA. I'M CONSIDERING TELLING ALL MY COLLEAGUES AT SARS NOT TO GO THERE AS I DOUBT I'LL EVER COME BACK AFTER THIS. I'm truly disappointed with City Lodge Barbara Edenvale. Service is so very low and not up to standard at all. I'm not sure if the guys are not trained how to handle visitors I'm really not sure and the price for the rooms are more expensive than Midrand but service and the room conditions is far far away different. Why is that? Why are we treated like that I'm so disappointed ☹️☹️☹️

Apparently there are 2 City Lodge hotels near the airport. They have nearly identical names. We booked the wrong one. PLEASE add some clarity in the description showing these are 2 hotels!

Near airport.

Inescapable central air conditioning. Was too cold and the air conditioning in the restaurant was set to cold and it the room it could not blow hot.
