The location is excellent for gettig to the city but near water. Breakfast was tops. And room was spacious.
The staff and the vibe
Strange bedding not sure what the material is . Very expensive mini bar the crisps were astronomical!
Excellent waterfront location. Great breakfast. Nice Bar.

Great location, big rooms, love having a balcony.
Some of the furnishings in the room were a bit shabby. The leather was peeling off on the wardrobe, and the towels and robes were folded in a messy manner. Only a small thing, but you expect those extra details when you’re paying £600 per night. For the price, I expected a much more luxury experience. I will be trying a different hotel next time I visit Oslo.
Great facilities, excellent food and staff at rooftop restaurant especially enjoyed Tiramisu Caviar. Great location for getting on a cruise

Location, facilities, amenities, ambience
It suited its purpose for a stay in Oslo.
Too boutique’ie. Seemed to be trying too hard to be edgy and artsy. City view was of a scruffy noisy children’s playground. And very modular surrounding buildings. No city view.
We had a really warm welcome at The Thief. Hotel staff made sure we'd get the kind of room we asked for (With bathtub). Room was clean, modern and had really nice furniture. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise! Everything was prepared with love and passion. It tasted accordingly. Staff was always warm and helpful. Spa was a nice experience as well, while not too big, it still offered various types of saunas and a warm water bath. A relaxing way to end an evening. The location at the fjord was great as well, nice and quiet, some good restaurants around the corner. While it is a bit pricey, it felt well worth the money. We'd come again.
We recently stayed at The Thief in Oslo and it lived up to its reputation. Yes, it is expensive, but in our view it was worth every penny. Our room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable, and the staff throughout the hotel were unfailingly helpful. Breakfast was a real highlight: a superb spread with excellent service, and the scrambled eggs were amazing. Dinner options in the rooftop restaurant are more limited, but what we had was perfectly fine, and the setting is lovely. The gym is good and the spa is excellent, though be aware that spa access may cost extra depending on your room category, so it is worth checking when you book. Highly recommended if you are looking for a luxury break in Oslo. We would happily return.
Everything was excellent. Only one minor thing with the night light in the bathroom being very bright!
An excellently located hotel in Tjuvholmen with splendid architecture; it was very clean, offered wonderful views from the room, and featured an excellent breakfast and extremely friendly staff who made our stay truly delightful. We walked to all the sights in Oslo; staying at The Thief made visiting the city a real pleasure. We will definitely be back!
Such a trendy Hotel and the location is excellent for most things in Oslo. The views outside on the water are just so gorgeous. We were only there for 2 nights before we flew to Bergen but would love to return some time in the future to discover more of Oslo. We were given so many great ideas from the girl in reception (Emilia) who was actually from Bergen on what to do both in Oslo and Bergen and had a great laugh. She really made us feel like special guests and took her time to explain everything we had questions about. 10/10. The breakfast was top notch with different options and all in all we really enjoyed our stay and hope one day to return.
The location, the service, the rooms
Nothing, everything was perfect
I am deeply disappointed with my stay at The Thief. For a luxury 5-star hotel charging premium rates, guests should absolutely have the right to control their own room temperature. The hotel explicitly advertises air conditioning, but the thermostats are centrally locked. It relies on a central ventilation system that does not cool the room down properly. I could not lower the temperature to a comfortable level, which severely impacted my sleep and overall comfort. Advertising AC without giving guests actual control over it is completely misleading at this price point. I would not recommend this property if you value a cool, controllable room
What a great hotel. I have traveled the world and this is one of the nicest. Martin the GM is very accessible to the guests. He is always out walking around and talking with guests and being responsive. Kenan is a great waiter at the roof top. He is very focused on provided outstanding service and accommodating guests. Adrienne did a great job in recommending restaurants and places to go. Overall an outstanding job. I would stay there again.
Breakfast was excellent, staff very attentive. room of a high standard
Gym a little disappointing given how good the rest of the facilities were.
Great location. Wonderful views of the waterfront. Walking distance to many points of interest and a broad selection of restaurants.
Friendly and helpful staff, great location and pleasant room. Included breakfast buffet was varied and tasty.
Adrian quien nos hizo check in y check out, totalmente impersonal.
Amazing hotel, location, staff, breakfast buffet, rooftop bar - all incredible. We can’t wait to return!
Great hotel in nice location. Bed was super comfortable and room was quiet.. Great staff and breakfast was excellent.. Minor problem with laundry quickly resolved by the reception team. Will definitely visit again…
The Thief made a wonderful first impression. The architecture immediately caught my eye, and the moment I stepped inside I loved the atmosphere. The lobby is dark, cosy and beautifully designed, creating a very modern yet welcoming feel. My room continued that theme perfectly. It was spacious, intelligently laid out and very comfortable, with beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows that flooded the room with natural light. I had requested a higher floor before arrival, and the hotel kindly accommodated my request. I really appreciated the effort, and I believe I received one of the better rooms available. The only disappointment was the view. The hotel’s promotional photos give the impression that many rooms enjoy a wide, unobstructed panorama across the fjord. In reality, my room overlooked the marina with the water visible between neighbouring buildings. It was still a pleasant view, but not quite the sweeping waterfront vista the marketing had led me to expect. I think the photography sets expectations a little too high in that regard. The staff deserve special praise. Every single member of staff I encountered, from reception to the breakfast team, was exceptionally friendly, professional and welcoming. Service throughout my stay was consistently excellent. Breakfast was another highlight. The restaurant has a calm, elegant atmosphere and never felt crowded. The buffet was clearly focused on quality rather than quantity, with fresh produce, wellness shots, excellent breads, fruit, vegetables and plenty of thoughtful details that made it feel more refined than the average hotel breakfast. Scrambled eggs were available on the buffet, while one à la carte egg dish could be ordered without additional charge, which I found perfectly reasonable. I also appreciated that the staff happily brought me apple vinegar when I asked whether they had balsamic for my salad. Little touches like that made the experience feel genuinely attentive. The spa is equally stylish. It features a lovely Finnish sauna, hammam, steam room and a beautifully designed relaxation area. The only drawback is the swimming pool, which is heated to around 35°C. After a proper sauna session, a pool that warm simply doesn’t provide any cooling. I think a temperature closer to 30°C would make it much more enjoyable. Guests are encouraged to cool off in the Oslofjord, which is only about a minute’s walk away, and while that’s certainly a unique Nordic experience, it does mean leaving the spa area wrapped in a towel. Access to the spa comes at an additional charge, although hotel guests receive a reduced rate and spa treatment guests receive a further discount. Personally, I think complimentary access for guests booking treatments would be a welcome addition at this price level. The location is excellent. There are numerous restaurants within a short walk, a Joker convenience store nearby, and many of Oslo’s attractions can easily be reached on foot. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel’s design, atmosphere, comfort, breakfast and service are all outstanding, and I would happily return. A few small details prevent it from being absolutely perfect, but it remains one of Oslo’s most stylish and enjoyable luxury hotels.
Location
Room service is not working , staff are unhelpful
Beautiful Hotel & Great location. The staff was very friendly & helpful. Martin was very helpful
The size of the duvets was a little small. The Ac's didn't cool well enough
Matratzen sehr weich
The room was excellent. Well thought out with places for your stuff. Loved the heated floor in the bathroom
Although it’s not central we liked the location since you are close to the sea and to nice restaurants. You are also walking distance from the National Museum, City Hall and harbor, where you catch the tourist boats. Our room had a nice view! Bathroom was good, service friendly and breakfast had a large selection of options!
Communication with the hotel before arrival was pretty much unanswered. When we arrived with luggage, there was nobody to help us in. The room decor and the location at Aker Brygge is lovely, but there's no system of service at this hotel. Nobody picks up the phone at the reception desk. Our TV didn't work for 3 days in a row after many resets. On the other hand, the breakfast staff were extra kind. The restaurant had very limited menu for dinner. Hard to believe this is a 5 star hotel, but we still enjoyed Oslo a lot.
Great location, close to city centre, located on the sea front within walking distance of tourist attractions, etc..
quite location
Great location , great staff, very comfortable room, very good breakfast, good facilities
The aircon wasn’t working initially and it was extremely hot in our room. This was fixed eventually but took a little while
The check-in process and our overall arrival experience were smooth and pleasant. Unfortunately, our experience during breakfast over the following days was disappointing and did not meet the standards we expected. On our first morning, we were greeted by a manager named Silvestar, who showed us to our table and informed us that both the buffet and the à la carte options were available. We requested the à la carte menu, and he replied that he would bring it shortly. After waiting for around 20 minutes, we asked another staff member for the menu, but after another 20 minutes it still had not arrived. When we asked Mr. Silvestar again, he responded by saying, "Why do you need it? There is enough food on the buffet." We found this response dismissive and inappropriate. We then requested to speak with the Food and Beverage Manager. When she arrived, rather than apologising for the situation, she loudly stated in a very high-pitched tone, "Forget what happened and tell me what I can do better." At no point was an apology offered. We later reported the incident to the Front Office Manager at reception, who listened carefully, understood our concerns, and handled the matter professionally and kindly. The following morning, when we arrived for breakfast, the Food and Beverage Manager approached us and loudly said, "Here is your à la carte menu." The manner in which this was done felt unprofessional and embarrassing. On another morning, we ordered waffles from the à la carte menu. Later, a server brought us a bill for the waffles. We explained that we believed they were included in our breakfast package. The server informed us that only one item per person was included. We explained that nobody had informed us of this policy previously, but also made it clear that we had no issue paying the charge. However, the server insisted that she had already informed us and became argumentative. Throughout the interaction, she appeared to be laughing and did not treat the matter seriously, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. To make matters worse, our waffle order had not been sent to the kitchen despite the breakfast area not being busy at the time. When the order finally arrived, it was incorrect. The server again laughed about the mistake rather than apologising. We requested to speak with a manager, and the server replied, while laughing, "Of course I can call the manager." However, she did not do so and instead continued serving other tables. When we asked how long it would take for the manager to arrive, she responded, "If you're in a rush, go to your room and the manager will come there." At this point, we returned to reception and spoke with the Guest Relations Supervisor. She listened to our concerns, acknowledged that this was not the level of service normally provided by the hotel, and handled the situation with professionalism and empathy. We greatly appreciated her attitude and assistance. While several members of the reception and guest relations team were excellent and professional, our repeated negative experiences during breakfast significantly affected our stay. The issue was not the mistakes themselves, as mistakes can happen, but rather the dismissive attitude, lack of apology, and unprofessional behaviour shown by certain members of the breakfast team. Additionally, after we informed reception and management about these incidents, we felt that the attitude of some breakfast staff members became even more aggressive and confrontational towards us during our subsequent visits to breakfast. Rather than the situation improving after we reported our concerns, it appeared that our complaint resulted in us being treated differently by certain members of the breakfast team. This made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome and further impacted our overall experience at the hotel. That said, we would also like to acknowledge the positive aspects of our stay. The spa facilities were excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the rooftop restaurant, both of which reflected the high standards we had expected from the hotel.
We loved our stylish room with a large, comfy bed, nice view and good bathroom. Waling distance to everything we wanted to do in Oslo. Managed to be quiet and dark despite late/early summer sun and raging Norwegian football fans on World Cup game night. Best of all, the breakfast which was as good as rumored with great service and plentiful options for my GF/vegan wife. Highly recommended!
Nice location…terrible service.
.
Amazing location and facilities. Service was superb. Thank you
Super quality breakfast in every way.
There was nothing I didn’t like, except maybe the cost of doing laundry. But everything is expensive in Scandinavia!
Lage
Alles
Location, Friendly Staff,
Room vipe was below the standard,
Excellent location, great breakfast and room and fantastic staff
Everything about The Thief is well planned and executed. From the check-in, the room set up, the restaurant and the spa - all top notch!
Nothing
Service was inconsistent. No consisted. You were condoned by yourself. They don’t take your suitcase. They don’t take you to your room. You need to figure out yourself everything. Roof top basic.
The Thief is a stylish hotel in a great location on Oslo‘s waterfront. It’s right across from an art Museum honor small island connected by a short pedestrian bridge. It’s an easy walking distance of numerous restaurants in an attractive section of Ola. The reason I gave it only three stars is that many of the rooms, including hours, that faced the art museum also faced a somewhat narrow alley that led to several apartment buildings at the edge of the island. This alley was constantly noisy throughout the night with both love talking or even bellowing residence or visitors. Also constant were various trucks, including garbage trucks that rumble intermittently all night long. On top of that, would seem to be hotel workers on the alleyway were constantly pushing smaller garbage bins all over the place. The hotel had turned off our ability to use the room controls to activate, ventilation systems, so we had to open the sliding doors to our little balcony, a foot or so to let in fresh air. This meant that there was really no way that we could cut off the Street noise and still have fresh air. Everything about this hotel was lovely. The rooms were very nicely done in a modern and attractive manner and the breakfast was superb. The hotel staff were very pleasant and accommodating. However, since one of the purposes of a hotel is to provide a good nights sleep, I have to down rate this place to three stars because it was virtually impossible not to get woken Up 6 to 8 times each of the two nights we were here. That is beyond annoying. I’m not sure there’s anything in the hotel can do to alleviate this, so be sure you do not get a room facing the art museum.
Everything about the hotel exudes quality. The location is perfect, close to town but quite. Being on an island the balcony room offered fabulous views of the waterways and boats. The staff were amazing. We were given a heads up on the wild day of constitution day celebrations, suggestions on where to visit and best of all blankets to keep warm on the roof top while having a few late beers. The room design and quailty is exceptional and the food at breakfast and dinner were perfect. Can't wait to return.
Great location Great facilities Wonderful staff
Loved it all
The breakfast is absolutely fantastic, that’s what made me stay in this hotel the second time. High quality dishes, great service during breakfast and decent coffee which is so rare even in luxurious hotels. Located in a beautiful neighborhood. Staff at the reception was helpful and friendly. Room service and cleaning were great.
I was absolutely disappointed with our room. Paying almost 500 eur a night (with breakfast), it was very unpleasant experience that I doubt I will repeat. First, our shower was constantly leaking into the toilet so we had to wipe floors every time we took a shower. Second, the AC is not working properly in this hotel (now I know it for the fact, as during my first stay I had the same issue). It was very cold on the room, but I could not increase the temperature even asking the reception twice and following all their advices nothing had improved. Third, the room was extremely dark as it was facing a tall office building. We were fully aware that we will not have a sea view in the Superior double room, but it came as a surprise that it will be no view at all but instead seeing people in the office 3 meters away from our room. I do think the rooms with this view should be cheaper, because it does not feel good at all. Forth, room had almost no amenities except for useless shaving kit - again smth you just don’t expect in the room for this price, adding basic amenities in the room would show hospitality and that you care.
Luxury location is the best. Hot towel rack in the bathroom really scored extra points.
Nothing particular.
Hardly been to trendy modern hotels and had really comfortable experiences. There is usually something wrong. Stain on those fashionable pillows, dust on shelves or uncomfortable bed and flooring. Food often tastes bland and not fresh. But... This hotel is exception! Modern and at the same time clean and comfortable. Very good experience with them. Food was amazing.
greta experience at a fine hotel with attentive staff and wonderful amanities. Everything was done well and our stay was seamless form arrival to departure. I'll be back.
There are many hotels in the world with beautiful locations and nice architecture, but few with this level of customer service. If you have a certain standard, and appreciate “the little extra” look no further…. Worth every penny!
