The location of the National Hotel is perfect for walking to the historical sights, the ferries, restaurants and pubs. Our room was exceptional with a grand balcony and lots of room. The breakfast was superb. The entire staff was professional, friendly and helpful.dc

Wonderful stay at Hotel Continental! We were upgraded to a higher category room upon check in without having to even ask. Service at hotel was spectacular as were the amenities. Finally, it is centrally locat a great area with lots to do near the hotel. I would stay here again without hesitation!

Everything was excellent. The hotel is beautiful, elegant, and very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The location is perfect for exploring Oslo, and everything was very convenient. We really enjoyed our stay and felt very well taken care of.

We stayed two nights in one of Hotel Continental’s premier suites at approximately $3,700 per night. Given its five-star positioning, Leading Hotels of the World membership and American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts affiliation, the experience fell remarkably short. There was no doorman or bellman when we arrived, so my driver and I carried five heavy bags into the hotel ourselves. Luggage delivery was extremely slow, and while five bags initially arrived, 2 hand bags were missing. Calls to housekeeping and reception repeatedly went unanswered. We encountered stained and worn towels, a stained bathrobe, inadequate bedding for the king bed, and a replacement duvet that arrived around 10 PM and was still too small. Even basic requests required repeated calls. Bedding was replaced by a bellman. Some individual employees were very good, including the receptionist, porter and Manager on Duty. The problem appeared to be the overall operation and management, not the efforts of individual staff. What was particularly disappointing was the response after I raised these issues directly with Hotel Director Nina Henriette Brandanger and owner and CEO Elisabeth C. Brochmann. Rather than squarely addressing the cumulative failures, the response emphasized that it had been a “very busy weekend” and attributed aspects of our experience to Norwegian hospitality and differing personal expectations of a five-star hotel. That response was almost as disappointing as the stay. Unanswered telephones, inadequate staffing, missing luggage and stained linens are not cultural differences or matters of personal preference. Hotels have bad days. What distinguishes a true five-star hotel is both the consistency of its service and how management responds when it fails. At approximately $7,400 for two nights in one of Hotel Continental’s premier suites, both the experience and management’s response fell well short of the standard the hotel represents and charges for.

Unfortunately, Hotel’s breakfast is not provided for me as left early morning to catch up my flight. However, the hotel waived for me a cup of coffee which I requested earlier!!

The hotel was beautiful and breakfast was excellent. I was disappointed that there was no kettle in the room and very few tea bags. I would have liked turn down service as well.

This hotel has the worst service, I have ever experienced. Not able to book a table in any restaurants, all trainees in the reception, nobody to pick up the suitcases when you arrive. They don t even have technicians in the weekends, to fix electrical problems in the rooms.

Beautiful hotel with genuinely attentive staff. Room was well appointed and extremely clean with sufficient closet space. Bell staff were outstanding - both at initial arrival and departure, including the front desk arranging transport to the airport at discounted rates, appropriately-sized vehicle.

Sadly disenchanted. Initially, we were impressed by the location and hotel appeared fairly elegant. Then, I was almost double charged for lunch if I did not pay attention to the bill!! Unacceptable! Then housekeeping neglected to put face clothes in the bathroom and I pointed this out to reception and suggested the evening housekeeper rectify this yet they did not. We are celebrating our 21st anniversary and sadly no special hospitality- in fact when I suggested a bottle of champagne or wine I was promptly informed “ NO ALCOHOL” - only petit fors 😂 Have to just say I would have given a one star but bartender Ole was wonderful. Gracious and informative.

We had a horrible experience with the Airbnb we had booked and we called Hotel Continental and were able to find beautiful rooms. The facility was high quality, staff at all levels were extremely professional and helpful and the buffet breakfasts were fantastic. The location is right in City Centre and easy to get everywhere. We had a great stay at Hotel Continental. The location was excellent, making it easy to get around, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We booked a Junior Suite with a Corner Balcony, which was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The balcony was a wonderful bonus and a great place to relax. We'd happily stay here again.

Breakfast is superb!

The staff was friendly and helpful. Our luggage was taken to our room for us, which was so nice after a long trip and we did not want to try to stack all our bags in the small elevator. Our room was lovely and had a decent view of the city. We had to leave early so we did not get to take advantage of the breakfast in the morning. That is probably the only negative, is that there was not an alternative for breakfast for guests who caught an early train to Flåm. Would have been nice to be able to order room service or something. Not a long walk to the train station with backpacks but would have been more challenging with rolling bags. Otherwise, great location. The hotel is lovely. Everything was clean in the bed was comfortable.

Our Junior suite faced a building where work was being done on the exterior so workmen looked into our room. When my wife complained the front desk service staff member said that she could not expect them to move the building

The Continental is a hidden treasure. Outstanding in every aspect from check in to check out and everything in between. Amazing hotel staff that never says no but strives to over deliver. The best breakfast ever. Incredible rooms, excellent restaurant and concierge service. If you are looking for top notch accommodations in Oslo, Continental is your best choice.

Nothing disappointing here! The front desk was extremely helpful with planning/scheduling what to do and how to get there. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. While we were facing the main street, we had zero street noise. Location can't be beat for shopping, dining, museums, proximity to pier. I really enjoyed the bath products and we had a separate tub and shower in a spacious bathroom.

Well situated hotel close to the Oslo Rathus and trainstation National Theater which connects it easily to Oslo Airport. We had a lovely room which was spacious and had a balcony overlooking the street. Very quiet rooms, clean, well kept, good service. It has several dining options but the area is also rich in food options. Close to the heart of town, the National Museum, the King’s residence and the harbour.

Hotel is incredible in its attention to detail and helpfulness of staff. One of the best hotel experiences for us.

This was our third stay at Hotel Continental, Oslo. The fact that we've returned for a third visit speaks for itself. Not only is the Continental a beautiful hotel, the service is impeccable and the location is unmatched. Theatrecaffeeine is a classic, must do for dinner. Do not miss a chance to dine here. Not only is it beautiful and historic, the food is excellent as is the service. The breakfast buffet at the hotel each morning is wonderfully layed out and complete for whatever breakfast you are looking for, and once again, the service is the best! The staff at the Hotel Continental is excellent and always there to assist, whether for questions regarding travel, booking a taxi for you or reservations at local restaraunts. This place is a treasure!
