City Lodge Hotel at OR Tambo International Airport

The staff in the hotel are so friendly & helpful it is only 5 minutes walk to the hotel from the airport if you get lost there is staff along the way to guide you don’t worry it’s easy access, the hotel is excellent and the food and drinks reasonably priced.

Conveniently within walking distance of the airport. Rooms good but my water cooker was not working…

Was given wrong room initially which did get fixed. No phone in room. Waited an hour for our dinner in the hotel restaurant where there were inly a few guests. We entered from inside the airport so I cannot comment on the grounds

This hotel is right at the airport. Great for evening arrivals or a launching point for nearby travel. Great staff. Good restaurant. There is little else in area.

We arrived at the hotel after travelling for 30hours. We were tired and all we wanted was to take a shower and sleep. Upon arrival we were told that there was a water outage but the maintanance staff will sort it out shortly. The next morning there was still no water. The truth was that the whole OR Tambo complex had no water. Please don't lie to your guests and at least offer some credit or compensation.

Does the job very adequately as a quick and comfortable layover hotel

My husband and I stayed here two nights during our recent trip to South Africa. City Lodge is a nice and convenient airport hotel. It is about a 5 minute walk from the terminal. No shuttle required. The hotel staff were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. They even allowed us to check out one hour later than the posted time without an extra charge. We found the room to be clean and quiet and the bed comfortable. We ate at the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner and the food and service were both good. I used the gym and although small and a little warm since it is open to the outside, it was clean and served it's purpose. Would highly recommend City Lodge for an airport stay and would book again.

Clean, convenient and efficient.. Food service was a bit slow but understanable because it was busy.. nonetheless a pleasant stay, easy check in and check out !

Perfect for an overnight stay.

Even after having to check out of the room, there were plenty of comfortable places to wait, watch TV, read a book and get something to eat until it was time for my flight. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful at every interaction. The food available was delicious and served at a great price value.

Have stayed here 3 different times and whenever I return to the city I will stay there again!

Booked and prepaid for a room. Guest arrives and the hotel do not have a room available for the guest. Robery and dishonesty.

I stayed there three times within three weeks and it was a decent hotel. I was pleasantly surprised – the service was not good. The food however, was quite good and I appreciated the buffet and I thought the other selections were good and priced well.

lovely stay transit

Great position and for the price , excellent. We stayed there as had banking issues to resolve and this was a perfect spot for "regular trips" before resolving our issue. Plus, all the necessary shops were right there as well. Food and amenities in the hotel were good for what we needed. Staff always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for that short stay over.

The hotel was at the airport, easy to get to, and safe. I was in transit and could only fly the next morning to my final destination, and could get a good nights rest, and just relax. Having the restaurant made dinner and breakfast easy and convenient. The staff was friendly and very supportive. Thank you.

Great stopover

It was so nice to walk a short distance to a hotel when you have an overnight layover. The staff was great, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the restaurant was wonderful for dinner and breakfast. Highly recommend.

I’ve stayed at City Lodge OR Tambo many times, typically just for one night after arriving on a long flight from the US and then departing to a different city the next day. The bed and pillows are comfortable, excellent water pressure and hot water in the shower, and there are many offerings for food (room service and breakfast buffet) which are all good. I love that there are many water stations throughout the hotel where you can refill your water bottle with cold water. The rooms could have better lighting, especially in the bathrooms which are always sort of dark. My phone didn’t work in the room, and the posted phone number for room service also didn’t seem to be in service so I had to go down to the cafe to order; the person there was very nice and the order was delivered to my room in a timely manner. The gym is a bit neglected - 2 of the 3 treadmills didn’t work today, and the one that did could not be reset so I just continued on the previous person’s workout. Everyone who works at the hotel is very helpful and very professional.

Top notch hotel convenient for those arriving at O. R. Tambo Airport in the evening who aren't flying onward until morning. Excellent restaurant. Prices are getting a bit high though.

Everything would have been 4+ stars except in the room, the shower has mold. Where the shower glass meets the tile has lots of black mold. Seems like the cleaners neglect this area. Looks like it’s been growing awhile.

If you need a place to stay at the airport, this is a great option. It’s cheap but good value for money

Everything is excellent except it is a bit difficult to navigate from the time we landed at JNB to the hotel. Signs along the way are not very clear and helpful. We had to ask several people who pointed us in the right directions.

Confusing with breakfast.When you book room it needs to be clear about breakfast options.

The room was nice and beds good but unfortunately the dinner was discusting. I took the special South African dish and the beef was not fresh, the sausage not fully cooked, the chicken a little smelly. I should have returned the whole meal but the vegetables and fries were okay and we were tired.

Very convenient and friendly hotel. Only complaints was trying to work out how to get the the tv channels and air conditioning was a bit of hassle and would have appreciated Some basic operation instructions. Also the shower was poorly located too close to the shower entrance when it could have been put towards the back of the shower, and when you shower it sprays water all over the bathroom floor. Moving the flannel rail and putting a door on the shower would fix the issue.

This is a very nice hotel, good breakfast and comfortable rooms. But we tried to book again at the last minute, unfortunately they told us they were booked out but offered their sister hotel . Unfortunately you need to get a taxi there but the breakfast was amazing. The amenities were just as good as the city lodge OR Tambo. It’s cheap and better….try City Lodge Hotel Johannesburg

After all uts a hotel base in the terminal so charge 4star price for a 2 star property. The rooms are basic, economy tierd and need revamping

My husband and I always stay at a city lodge because we know what to expect and it’s comfortable. This time I was really needing assistance with the bage and was not able to reach anyone from the front desk. Other than that it was a great stay

If you are transiting through the Johannesburg Airport this is is a great option. It was directly across the street from the terminal - attached to the parking garage area. We didnt have to leave the airport although you do have to go out of security. The staff was very helpful, rooms nice and clean, restaurant has good food,

The convenience of walking to the hotel from international arrival and being able to comfortably overnight and return to the terminal for a morning departure without having to rely on transport, is amazing! The hotel is clean, rooms nice, restaurant excellent and staff very friendly.

We have stayed at the City Lodge for 1 night. It’s clean and most staff are generally friendly. It’s easy to get to from the airport. You can walk to it if you’re reasonable fit. We also stayed at the sister City Lodge which cost less. It has a better breakfast and the staff are very friendly. You have to catch a cab there. My first choice would be the sister City Lodge 3km away
