Sultan Mehmed Hotel

Friendly staff, location was perfect

Whilst this hotel is absolutely valued for money, it's a little dated and missing a few touches such as a kettle in the room. Not sure how well the rooms were cleaned between stays.

Excelent stay. Steps to the blue mosque. Personnel is very helpful. I would like to mention breakfast lady si reception young guy. Definitely best choice for our style.

I was appalled when we saw the actual hotel - the photos on the ad must have been photoshopped, because it looked nothing like the pics - especially our room. Room was tiny, was not 2 twin beds as requested and pictured, and the bedding consisted of a fitted sheet with no top sheet - just a cotton throw which did not reach the sides of the bed. I do wonder about the validity of the reviews on this hotel....they can't have had the same experience. The breakfast was good, and Sabir on reception was a huge help to us...kudos to him. I needed to go home 2 days early (medical emergency) but the management would not refund the last 2 nights.

Very nice and cosy hotel within a couple of minutes walking distance of the major visiting sites. Very friendly staff and a good breakfast with coffee, thee and juices, different kinds of cheeses, eggs the way you like it, grapes and more. Everything was very clean. We were able to park our car in front of the hotel which was very nice.

Not a big deal, but there was just a small blanket for the bed. Further just a tip: get a map from the neighborhood. There are a lot of small streets and it is very easy to loose your way, just to see more of the beautiful surroundings of course.

So loud noise from the street. I couldn't sleep.

alt und schäbig, zimmer hellhörig..

Very comfortable hotel, just a short distance from some of the main sights. Fabulous staff, especially the manager Hikmet, who went out of his way to ensure that each and every guest received the best of care.

Recepción 24h estupenda y siempre dispuestos a ayudar.

This hotel is remarkable for the price with its accommodating and helpful staff, easy walking to major sites and generous room size and basic necessities. This is a busy street and the noise comes through even with windows closed.

Très agréable pas beaucoup de monde

Wry lovely place to stay, convenient to see all the major attractions around area, shops are literally everywhere for shopping and dining and most importantly hotel management very friendly and helpful. I arrived at 3 o’clock in the morning and they let me check in without any hassle and offered all the support I needed. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants good place to stay as well as shopping and dining at their doorstep.

Très bien situé et personnel agréable. Chambre agréable et bien aménagée.

Very good hotel

Vielen Dank.

This hotel is very convenient for all things under one roof. Very nice hotel and I wish I could come again.

Zohra. Chambre 103

Hotel was at very convenient place.

The host and his family were wonderful. We arrived at 6am and he was able to get us into our room. The homemade breakfast the next morning was wondefful! He gave us excellent directions, recommendations, and was able to translate for the taxi driver. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Bom hotel, ótima localização, equipe muito amigável e prestativa, sempre dispostos a ajudar. O café da manhã é razoável.

struttura semplice ma pulita,personale gentile

Good condition and nice and helpful staff

We stayed at the Sultan Mehmet Hotel – Istanbul for four nights in July, and honestly, the service was impeccable. Our room was large, spacious, and well air-conditioned. The bathroom was spotless, and the mattresses were very comfortable — we slept deeply every night thanks to them. The hotel owner and staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. They gave us great recommendations for non-touristy local restaurants and even arranged a taxi to the airport for us. One major highlight was the breakfast: a generous and delicious Turkish spread, including fresh fruit, toast, and eggs.

Nothing :)

Everything was excellent about our stay. Confort, location, condition and above all the good service and the kindness of the staff.

Everything

Toppen med parkering på gatan utanför.

My brother and I had an amazing stay here. The property was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was a really nice breakfast that was provided each morning, which included freshly cooked eggs that they started making when you arrived. Was really impressed by the breakfast as it was much better than most hotels I’ve stayed at. This property was also in walking distance of all the activities we had in Istanbul which was really convenient. The best part was the staff. Everybody was extremely friendly and made us feel at home. All the staff members talked with us and asked us how our day was, and answered all our questions. The main front desk man even helped us book a taxi to the airport for the last day which was really helpful. All of them are great people and they will go above and beyond to help you in any way possible. Definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in Istanbul. We will be back here next time we visit.

Location

Breakfast could be more varied

Very good location, staff was very friendly, breakfast was good. Bed was big and comfortable. Good shower.

For being in a perfect location you can sometimes hear noise (and prays) from outside, but that’s something that comes with it.

The location was great.

Breakfast offerings were a bit limited.

The hotel is located close to sultan Ahmed square, has lots of eateries and places to visit. It served a good Continental breakfast, the room was clean, the shower worked fine and the lifts were in working order.

⸻ Great Hotel and Excellent Service! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a fantastic experience staying at this hotel. The staff were all very kind, professional, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Even though I don’t remember their names, I truly appreciated their hospitality. The room was clean and comfortable, and everything worked perfectly. The location was also very convenient, close to everything I wanted to visit. Breakfast was tasty with a good variety of choices. Overall, a wonderful stay. I would definitely come back and recommend this hotel to others!

The location is excellent, close to tourist sites and within walking distance. The people who work there are very friendly, and the breakfast is very good with a lot of variety. It's one of the best hotels I've stayed at.

Our stay at the Sultan Mehmed Hotel was truly unforgettable. Visiting Istanbul had always been a dream of my mother’s, and thanks to this wonderful place, it became a reality in the most beautiful way. The hotel’s location was perfect — we were able to explore almost everything on foot, which made our experience even more immersive. The room was spotless, the beds incredibly comfortable, and we were even upgraded to separate beds free of charge, which added to our comfort. But what truly made our stay so special was the warmth and kindness of the staff. Their generosity, smiles, and sincere attention went far beyond what we expected. A heartfelt thank you to Hikmet, who looked after us with such care, always ready to help with a calm, respectful, and gentle presence. To Can, thank you for the thoughtful advice and laughter — your energy and kindness made a real difference to our days. To Nazire, your Turkish breakfasts were a daily delight, and it was a joy to be greeted by your warm smile every morning. And to Sabir, thank you for your help late at night when we couldn’t figure out the air conditioning — your patience and efficiency were so appreciated. To all the team at Sultan Mehmed Hotel: thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our week in Istanbul so memorable. We will always carry this experience with us, and we wholeheartedly recommend your hotel to anyone visiting this magical city. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I stayed in Sultana Mehmet hotel for 7 days, It is small hotel, clean and quiet, very well located . The onwer and staff are friendly and helpful.

I recently stayed at Sultan Mehmet Hotel and was blown away by the exceptional service, stunning spacious clean and comfortable beds and linen .The staff were warm, welcoming I would highly recommend ,to anyone seeking a home away from home stay. The combination of excellent hospitality, and comfortable rooms makes it a true gem. Thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable experience!"

Everything was perfect , service and hospitality was exceptional personal attention.

Attention from staff was excellent, very helpful in all!

Good breakfast,

Great location--3 minutes walk to the Hippodrome. Room was dark and no room service during our stay. The hotel lobby was dark

It felt like at home, the owner of the hotel was super nice, will be advising this place to my friends and family members, definitely coming back again

The property was so convenient to all the important sites in old Istanbul. The staff were very friendly & the service was excellent, Mehmet, the owner, was very helpful and informative. We will definitely stay here when we come back to Istanbul, and will strongly recommend it to everyone

Comfortable bed, clean stay. Breakfast didn’t have much options like eggs omelette.

Perfect location, great staff, great breakfast. Couldn't have been better!

So very clean. Owner was great and, bonus, spoke great English. Location was 5 minutes from Blue Mosque.

Very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast , very clean and excellent service.

Great Host.Clean Hotel.Location is near to main attractions

It was good and absolutely enough do not be hungry during visiting sightseeing locations. I'm glad to choose breakfast option for our stay.

Walking distance from main tourist attractions in Sultanahmet. The hotel is new and Mehmed was able to recommend us a lot of activities and restaurants nearby.

Nothing

Great new facility right in the middle of Sultanahmet where the highlights of Istanbul are located. Mehmed was a great host, offering us a fantastic breakfast which had variations every day and included fresh abundance of season fruit.

Nothing

Location location

Great place in excellent location to all the attractions

Everything was great

Very pleasant stay. Mehmed - grand respect from St.Petersburg. Thank you for your stories about country. Nice to meet you! Andrey

The accommodation is in a very good location, attractions are close by. The place is very clean, nice and tidy and the staff is nice, friendly and helpful. We were satisfied with the breakfast. I absolutely recommend it.

There was no such.

The very clean room was large, with a table and chairs. The location was perfect and Mehmet and staff were very accommodating with literally anything we needed.

Na

Mehmet is a great owner/ host at the hotel. He was really welcoming, and readily available with information, advice and help. Hotel is in an excellent location less than 5 mins from the major sights in Sultanahmet and surrounded by restaurants. Very comfortable room, good shower and lovely breakfast. Highly recommended.

Nothing !

RamT.

The location was close to most of the attractions. The room was very comfortable and most of all Mr Mehmet was very helpful, he gave us great advice about all the excursions and answered all our questions. The staff were very friendly and always served us with a smile. The traditional turkish breakfast in the courtyard was delicious and enjoyable. Loved those beautiful cats.

Familiar and cozy hotel with lovely staff and great commodities. The owner gave us top recommendations. Also it has the best location, just 5 minutes walking from the Sultan Ahmet Camii. Highly recommend staying here :)

we had a beautiful stay at the Sultan Mehmed hotel. Mehmet, and the rest of the staff made sure our stay is comfortable. Mehmet was generous with ideas of where to go and where to eat. He was always available to offer assistance and show us on the map the best way to reach places. (and also supplied us with a public transportation card). His restaurant recommendations were good. He stayed up late every night till we returned and woke up with us at 5 am when we were departing. The room was clean and was tended to every day. Breakfast was nice and was served by two lovely girls. Tea and coffee are available at the lobby all day. The location of the hotel is excellent. We returned every afternoon to rest and recuperate and then went out again. Mehmet is fluent in English which made our stay ten times better. Would whole heartedly recommend this hotel.

I like the staff very nice with us

Very nice

This was our first trip to Turkey, it was amazing, the hotel staff was great, always helping us on any concern, two young ladies serving a superb breakfast to begin the day. The manager showed us the best places to go to, excelent customer service. We are very pleased with the service, and we will recommend this hotel to our relatives and friends, we hope to came back soon. Thank you. 🇹🇷🙌

it is a good value for money and very close to all the important tourist places. and very close to all the important tourist places

Cleen nice and very good staff

I liked everything!!

There is nothing to dislike

Clean, comfortable hotel with friendly staff that go the extra mile to make your stay delightful.

Hotel very good location great food and cleanlines, excellent service.Highly recommend. Stay9-14 May 2023

I loved my stay at Sultan Mehmed. I had a small but comfortable room with a great shower. Breakfast was a feast of cold cuts, cheese, fruits, breads and eggs cooked to your preference and served by 2 delightful girls who couldn’t do enough for you. The hotel is a 5 minute stroll from both the Blue Mosque and Agia Sophia, the tram stop and various reasonable eateries. Mehmed, the owner, is a mine of useful and interesting information and it was a pleasure to be in his company. I would return to this comfortable and welcoming hotel in a heartbeat.

great location, nice room, delicious breakfast

all ok

No need to look further if you want to feel welcome and at home in this fascinating city!! Mehmet is such a wonderful, nice person and just the perfect host. He really made me feel at home in İstanbul and my journey definitely would not have been the same without him and his great staff. The hotel itself is rather small, but cozy, with just a few rooms, which added to the very personal, calm and friendly atmosphere. Location is perfect, just a short walk from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia (~5-10 minutes depending on your walking speed) and Topkapı Palace, plus the street is a popular pick-up point for guided tours. There are really good restaurants also in walking distance close to the tram station (it's absolutely worth walking the extra five minutes to avoid the tourist traps!) and Mehmet is always ready to give great advice on food to try and places to visit, depending on your plans for the day. My room was comfortable, quiet and spotlessly clean. While there is no breakfast buffet, I did not miss anything at all and a full Turkish breakfast is prepared freshly for each individual guest when you come downstairs. Out back there is a small terrace which must a nice spot to finish the evening in the warmer season, but you can just as well make yourself comfortable in the lobby and have a relaxing little chat over tea and coffee after a busy day. Overall, if an anonymous, off-the-rack hotel experience and crowded breakfast rooms do not sound too appealing to you, and you want good value for money without giving up a good hotel standard and cleanliness, this is definitely your hotel!

Not having booked a longer stay...

I stayed at this property 6 days. It is located in the Sultanhamet in the European side. The owners were very hospitable and very helpful. They do their best to make the guests happy. The room was great overlooking the street and there were traffic sounds but it didn't bother me too much. The balcony though not a walkout one was lovely to be able to open the window at times. Wonderful supply of very thoughtful items for the guest: shampoo, body wash, shoe polish and brush, sewing kit, sandals, and soap. The room was cold and when requested immediately they turned the heat on, but it didn't always work as well, but the weather was pleasant enough that it wasn't bothersome. The breakfast was plentiful and pleasant. The shower was very nice. The water pressure was excellent. The elevator was really helpful and good. The location is really convenient to Aya Sofia and other historical sites. The tram once you get the hang of it goes to all the important places without transfers. Even to the Dolmabahçe Palace and Galata Tr. oweGreat little restaurants nearby and wonderful fresh pomegranate and orange juices nearby on the street. The beach is really close and easily walkable. For my departure the owners were so kind and arranged a good taxi for me. They also had my clothes washed for me. I was grateful.

1. There was no housekeeping sadly. The first day there was an accident and I needed the sheets changed. I was interrogated and reprimanded and told that they don't change sheets daily. During my entire stay the sheets were not changed except the day I requested. The floors were never swept/mopped or vacuumed. They were also very economical with towels. 2. The breakfast could easily be alternated at least every other so it wouldn't get so monotonous when you stay so long. 3. No visitors were allowed and that was a bummer 4. The toilet was so stuffy and in a very tight space (see photo) 5. Tiny trash can only in the toilet 6. The water always backed up in the sink (see photo) 7. Mildew in the shower tiles (see photo)

I had a wonderful experience at the Sultan Mehmed hotel. The moment I checked in, Mehmet was there to give me amazing feedback and information about my stay and sites to visit. Throughout the whole time there, Mehmet and the staff went out their way to make my time accommodating. The hotel is conveniently located in the Sultanahmet district, where many of Istanbul’s major attractions are. I highly recommend booking a stay at this hotel. The great hospitality and experience will want me to come back in the future.
