Casa Jose Maria

Todo bien

.

Even though we came rather late, the manager guided us to the parking lot down the street and waited there while we circled the block. She was very friendly. The hotel was very clean, attractive. The only complaint is the air conditioner was difficult to use. A simple ceiling fan would keep the air moving and be comfortable.

I like the hotel is so closer to everything

The staff was always nice and helpful. This hotel has parking right around the corner and it's a quick and easy walk to downtown. There's a free water refill in the lobby. The room was definitely a bit run down. Sheets and pillow cases were really rough and pilled. My biggest issue was the bathroom. The trashcan next to the toilet was dirty from previous occupants, the plastic liner wasn't changed, as a result the bathroom spelt very bad as soon as we got in the room. The lighting in the bathroom is really bad so it's hard to see in the shower but I could still see the mold. We were here 2 nights and decided to wait until our next hotel to shower because didn't want to use it again. There is no ventilation in the bathroom just a hole that goes into the room. The lighting in the room is very harsh if that bothers you. The air conditioner started leaking but thankfully we noticed it before it did more than get my bag a little wet. We did find a dead cockroach but that's probably an issue across the city and not just them.

It is a 2.5 Star Hotel

The property is well maintained and managed, but it is still a long way away from the boutique hotel it wants to be. The whites are very old as well as the beds and mattresses. The isolation is not good enough, and it is priced above its category.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times and i always have a great stay.

Excelente

Good, clean place

Buen lugar

We stayed there 4 nights. Overall the stay was good without any issues. The service to get the room ready was rather slow. In general the Hotel needs decor upgrade and better block the noise from the street.

Gracias por la atención

Truly 3 stars hotel

This hotel is set in an old building but its quaint and well maintained. 24 hour front desk. Secure, included parking less than a block away. Within easy walking distance of the cathedral and all the restaurants and shops in Centro. The room was basic but clean and the bed was comfortable. Lots of choices on the TV, except CNN which would be nice for English speaking guests. It's available but not subscribed to. Overall, we enjoyed the hotel for its convenience and besides some road traffic which died down by 10:00pm, its quietness. Would stay here again.

Very friendly and accommodating.

Very friendly and informative staff. Gives the feeling so staying with family. 😀

Hotel José María is a nice property but is old style rooms are small but clean the room doors are very fragile what make you wander Over all is not bad little far from city center

The staff is extremely helpful, the rooms are very comfortable and clean. Breakfast is delicious

Everything was great! There are better and less expensive options for breakfast right across the street. We ordered breakfast for 3 children and 6 adults. all of us were still very hungry when we finished. It wasn’t bad but it was very small for the price

It was a very nice trip. This little hotel is very nice and conveniently located about 10 minutes from the historic centre.

A/C was not really working, employees were polite, but remote control of the tv not too much

A small hotel but very pretty, clean and very friendly staff.

The hotel is really and tha staff is very nice this is tha place I will stay on my next trip to Morelia

I only stayed few hours. The front desk guy was very helpful. Overall the hotel looks nice and reasonably price

Older hotel needing some upgrades. Need new linens & pillows and a/c needing repair. Overpriced for Morelia for this time of year.

Close enough to center to walk but far enough to find cheaper food/ services. Quiet and clean. Super easy check in and check out. Felt safe ! 24 he front desk is a big plus. Will be returning when in Morelia !

The place is very pleasant, furniture a bit outdated but comfortable. The decor is quaint goes with the building. Enjoyed the a/c. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was delicious.

very good price

We really liked staying there. Everyone was so kind and helpful. When our toilet broke twice they came to the rescue. When our shower overheated, they said they would look into it but it still over heated to HOT!!! The meals were super good at breakfast and we ate there most of the time! Great service and complete meals. Scratchy towels could have been softer! Tossed in dryer

Hotel was great I would highly recommend to anyone.

Very good location, walking distance to downtown…

The place was so adorable clean. The staff was very friendly

The hotel room was just okay. The bathroom needs an upgrade. At least in my room, my bathroom, the shower knobs seemed like they were ready to fall apart, and the hot water took some time to come out. Additionally, the hotel property promotes their rooms to be soundproof. Not from what I experienced. I could hear people in neighboring rooms talking late at night and even heard the front desk phone ringing at different times at night. This was a bit of a nuisance. The location, though, was great. You can easily get to the historic center by foot within 10 mins. It's also close to taqueria el infierno, which sells some good tacos. Also within distance was a pharmacy, Mercado artesanal, and Jardín de la Rosas where you can get food.

Very close to downtown.and all activities!

I loved this hotel! Super cute and comfy. Clean and good walking distance

Enjoyed spacious room with electrical outlets to recharge our cell phones. Wonderful big balcony window. But bed sounded like an old mattress. Shower water flow was very poor. Personnel was very friendly.

A homey no-frills accommodation - a good size room with a bathroom with hot water. Comfortable large bed. Clean. No windows, only the glass door into the internal patio. WiFi weak in my room. Short walk to the center. Wonderful staff. Good breakfast at a reasonable price. Good for a brief stay while passing through town.

Morelia is a beautiful town and the Hotel was cute and amazing. The people were courteous and nice. Our stay was very comfortable. We would stay at this lovely hotel again.

This was my second stay at this hotel and the service and location are both top notch. Gabriel at the desk was very kind and accommodating. Would stay again.

Beautiful and well maintained historic building. Very friendly and courteous staff.

Property was charming, room comfortable, employees were friendly and helpful. I had a perfect fruit, yogurt and granola dish for breakfast. Beautifully prepared.

Optimal location! The front desk staff is super kind and are there to provide excellent customer service.

The hotel is in a beautiful old building that has been very well restored. The staff were excellent! My only (small) complaint is that I paid for a deluxe double room, and the room was fairly small. From the photos on the website I thought it would be bigger.

Excellent accommodation, staff were generous and would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel does not look like much from the street but once inside you see the well maintain property that it is. The staff that we had the pleasure of interacting with during our stay did everything to make us feel welcome and went out of their way to help us schedule tours and get taxi cab service for us. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

Although the staff was friendly and tried its best to help we were very unhappy that the rooms didn’t have windows. There is nothing to indicate that fact in the hotel or room description and it is something we expect to be noted. We spent one claustrophobic night and attempted to get our 2 more nights refunded to no avail. We were asked to pay when we checked in and we did just that with a credit card. Had we paid in cash we could have gotten some refund. We asked Hotels.com to intercede and they did also to no avail. They will do further investigation on how the hotel describes itself. FYI we switched hotels anyway and absorbed the loss. Lesson learned? Try not to pay before the room is seen.

The hotel is amazing, there are only 8 rooms very clean and comfortable. I felt as at home.

The hotel is very good located and amazing. There are only 8 rooms very clean and comfortable. I felt at home.

Very adorable and we'll kept room. Beds were comfortable and location was very close to center of town. Rooms were spacious. Great price for what you get.

Very nice place to stay, clean and close to the Morelia cathedral.

It was our first time in Morelia and we had a wonderful visit. The hotel is very close to centro. The rooms are large and very clean, the beds are comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Very clean and a decent location. Staff are fabulous and helped in every way they could. Did not try the breakfast there. All of the rooms open up directly to the dining/common area so it can be noisy at times. Bring your earplugs. Morelia is wonderful city. And if you are a male and want a shave, ask directions to the small barbershop a few blocks away. 70 pesos for a great shave.

Nice comfortable hotel. Awesome staff! Close to points of interest.

Hotel needs to have wash clothes, hotel needs to install safety features for senior citizens as in the shower

Great location, very nice property

Stay was OK over all, for the price is a good deal. Looking for something more comfortable need to pay more.

A little big boutique hotel in downtown Morelia. Great location, a 5-minute walk takes you to the heart of the city. The room is cozy and very, very quiet! We had a street-view window but barely heard noises from the outside or inside for that matter. Service is great, staff is kind, polite and always ready to help. They offer a variety of affordable and very complete tours to the city and "magic towns", we took 2 of these tours and it was a great experience. I felt like a special guest in a family house, so I would gladly stay in this hotel again.

Was really nice, clean and comfortable 👍 Walking 🚶‍♀️ to the Cathedral ! Great hubication 👍 My son and I loved 😘

The hotel, overall, was great. The only annoying thing was that they had children two of the three nights we were there (Thursday and Friday) These children were on the court outside, were running and very noisy. We could not sleep until 1 a.m.

Great hotel for the price, nice and quite. close to everything

We enjoyed our stay immensely. We were in walking distance to the Zocalo. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Being able to order our breakfast here was a bonus. It is very quiet and the beds comfortable. Would highly recommend it.

We had an extended stay in this small bed & breakfast style hotel near the historic centro area of Morelia. I would characterize the accommodations as simple, but comfortable. The hotel rates were very affordable for our extended stay. The only meal served was breakfast, which there was a variety of local cuisine that was both good & affordable. The one thing that truly stands out about Casa Jose Maria is the staff at the hotel. With our extended stay, we became very close to all the staff from the owner on down. They were helpful with local information, helped set us up with a guide to visit surrounding areas on interest & totally took care of us while there. We were treated like family. Truly awesome people.

We really liked how wonderful this little boutique hotel was. So much attention to detail and thoughtfulness put in to all of the spaces and rooms. When we stayed there was only one or two other guests at the hotel so it was extremely quiet. Like most hotels in Mexico the window or door leads to a central atrium which took some getting used to for me as I was always used to an outside window. The good news is no outside window cuts down on outside traffic and other noises. This hotel is charming and the front staff was more than willing to help us anytime we needed anything. It was only a block or two to the Centro and we felt safe and were very comfortable. The hotel is very clean and overall extremely lovely. I look forward to returning there again.

Quaint little hotel walking distance to the main area plaza Close to the best tacos El Infierno check them out!

Casa Jose Maria Hotel is a small and very comfortable accommodation. It was reasonably priced. The rooms were comfortable, clean, heated and AC. It is located within a comfortable walk of the Centro Historico. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were put in touch with a wonderful guide who took us to Patzcuaro and the Monarch Butterfly Reserve. While in Patzcuaro, one of our party fell and suffered severe cuts to both of her lower legs. The hotel had a doctor waiting for us upon our return. He treated her and came every day, 3 times per day to attend to her wounds. He did not want any money except for the cost of bandages. He provided receipts for all the purchases that he made. I was totally amazed by the hotel, the hotel staff, the guide, and last but not least the doctor who was a great doctor and an amazing human being. If you're interested in a cozy, boutique hotel, within walking distance of Centro Historico, you should consider Casa Jose Maria Hotel.

BATHROOM DRAIN PIPE FELL OUT AND FLOODED FLOOR. COULD NOT USE BATHROOM TO WASH, THEY SENT US TO A PUBLIC HOTEL BATHROOM TO WASH. DID NOT HAVE ANY ROOMS FOR US TO CHANGE. BREAKFAST IS TERRIBLE. TOWELS ARE OLD AND STAINED. WHEN BOOKING A WALKING TOUR WITH GUIDE, THEY SENT A SPANISH SPEAKING GUIDE WHO SPOKE NO ENGLISH. FINALLY GO ONE 4 HOUR LATER, DAY LOST.

Overall great hotel. Just minutes walk from the Catedral. Quiet and quaint. Would definitely stay again.

Good location, within walking distance to all sights. The courtyard had dining tables only, no comfortable place to sit and was quite cool early morning and evening. We opted to have breakfast outside the hotel because of this. Staff friendly and evening desk clerk does speak some English. We feel we paid a lot for what we got - a basic room. Bed comfortable and heater warmed the room nicely. There was a water cooler that also provided hot water, however no cups readily available. Would suggest that cups, glasses and perhaps tea and coffee be provided for guests, a small item but would add to the comfort of guests.

Very nice hotel and super friendly staff.

We stayed 4 nights at Casa Jose Maria Hotel to enjoy Morelia. The staff has been very nice and friendly. The hotel has no private parking - which we had forgotten to check - but we were allowed to park our motorcycle in the entrance hall. The hotel is located at a very short distance from the historic center which makes it very convenient, especially at night to have a nice dinner in close restaurants with live music.

Amazing

Staff was superb! Clean n overall good Staff was quick and nice close to the center

The staff was very welcoming and helpful! Great location was able to walk to restaurants, sites and shopping. Rooms were very clean and spacious. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This is a really pleasant modest hotel located within easy walking distance of all Morelia's sights. We'll stay here again.

We were only going to stay 2 nights but it was so comfortable and relaxing we stayed 4 nights. We looked at a lot of hotels in the area and take my word for it that this was the best

The entire experience at Casa Maria was excellent, from the comfortable, spacious room to the efficient and kindly staff. Little English spoken here, but work around were easy. Our only wish for improvement would have been softer lighting in our room. It was very bright.

My second time staying here charming clean and centrally located definitely stay here again

The hotel is located about 100 yards from the central plaza and it is a very safe walk to take at any time of day or night. The immediate area and adjacent businesses to the hotel are very unassuming. When you walk in the main area you are greeted by a very friendly staff at the desk. Directly behind the front desk is a large atrium area with a small garden area, excellent natural lighting where the tables are for breakfast. Behind that is an open air atrium with a table for relaxing. There is also a water cooler to fill up your water bottles. They also provide you with free water in your room with a couple of bottles that are replenished daily. The wifi is good throughout the hotel except we had some trouble in our room which was the furthest from the front desk. So if it is important for you to have wifi in your room, then I would verify you can get a signal before you settle in. Other than that we had no issues as it was a good signal throughout the building. There are roughly 8-10 rooms so it is very boutiquish. The hotel and rooms are excellently decorated and welcoming.

Hotel was close to Centro and within walking distance.
