The service is brilliant 👏 Spa bath is brilliant. And they have a restaurant didn't need to leave the building. Amazing breakfast as well.

The owners and customer service was fabulous, very kind accommodating and great communication. The location was excellent for easy walking into the heart of town and getting groceries etc.

The bed is extremely uncomfortable and downstairs the only windows are into the parking lot so there's zero privacy if you let in natural light and when you close them there's only horrific fluorescent lights. And it's so close to the Pak'nSave loading deck that all I could hear all night was the loading bay and the beeping of the lifts really disrupting sleep.

Everything! The staff at checkin and checkout. The room was super clean with awesome relaxing bath and so quiet could not hear traffic. Walking into town for our show or shopping and the lovely breakfast in the restaurant. Would i recommend, absolutely! Thank you everyone for a pleasant stay for our night away, will definitely stay again.

Bathroom cleanliness

The staff were friendly, professional and saw to our every need. The restaurant was superb. We ate 4 meals at the restaurant. The service second to none and the meals were perfect in every aspect. Big thanks to Tim (waiter) and Shaun (Chef) who are am absolute credit to Distinction! We had a great breakfast package which gave us a hearty start to our days.

The hotel has an unusual layout and was a bit of a rabbit Warren. We found the bed a little small but I had not seen alternate options on the booking site. We will definitely use Dustinction New Plymouth again, but next time I will book via the Distinction Website to see all all of the options.

We were totally amazed by everything about this hotel, considering it was only $112 for the night. It was right in the middle of the CBD and so close to the venue where we had to be. We walked around looking for somewhere to go for dinner, then decided to go back and try the restaurant, and we were so glad we did. We couldn't fault anything about the place and then to read it is totally 100% New Zealand owned and operated was even better. We will use this place for any future bookings. We rate our whole stay 100%!

The bed was great. The service was very good too. The room service antipasto platter for 1 was exceptional.

The armchairs were wobbly and need replacing.

Our fridge was broken, and they replaced it straight away. The hospitality from the start to the end was brilliant . Their restaurant was brilliant joy and Tim are amazing. . Our breakfast 😀 ❤️ 😍 was perfect 🥰 😋 it's worth every cent we spent. See you lovelys 😍 again.

There is no plug for the kettle 😕 . Had to put it on the floor.

Loved that your beds have a good gigantic pile of pillows on the bed!!!! Super comfortable and beautifully presented. More than one surface and pretty comfortable options for seating and relaxing rather than having to sit on the bed the whole time.

The heating, so meaning the ancient heat pump/loud droning wall heater system thing. Was barely functional!! And it sounded like a muffled vacuum cleaner running in the walls the entire time it was running. Although it barely took the chill off the room up on full for the whole night! Terrible sleep, chilly kidneys from the uncomfortably low headache causing chill i got from the room. With the heating on full! The television was ANCIENT!!! The quality was really really poor, every image was so blatantly pixelated and didn't improve, and the colors weren't bright or vibrant like my televisions at home. It was dull, pixelated picture, and all of TWO DIFFERENT FREEVIEW CHANNELS ONLY TO CHOOOSE FROM WITH CLEAR ENOUGH RECEPTION to be worth bothering to try and see or listen to and understand! And the remote had to be pressed upto a dozen times before it would recognize you were trying to do something!!!! EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED AND VERY DISSAPOINTED with the quality of 1.The room!! 2.The cleanliness of the bathroom!!! Seriously ewwww your hygiene in regards to the bath/shower/insode walls of the bathtub! I hate to say it, but it was unbelievably repulsive that the spa bath tub visibly hadn't had the inside of the tub actually hygienicly rinsed and wiped clean. And as we had just arrived as i saw the bathroom... it is extremely obvious that it wasn't even wiped out since last use, which is again, obvious!! previous to our arrival and check-in. WOW just utter shock and completely totally shattered at this point. Repeat customers generally come back and choose to stay again, BECAUSE THEY EXPECT EVEN SOME SEMBLANCE OF SAME PLACE THEY HAD SUCH A LOVELY MODERN LIFE ROOM!!! With amenities such as a 1.clean bathroom 2. A smart television or a tv with the same capabilities, so a smart TV or at least for it to have a chrome cast attached, AND AT THE VERY BLOODY LEAST WORKING TUNED IN FREEVIEW WITH ALL THE CHANNELS!!

Location was brilliant. The room was clean and the bed was very clean and comfortable. The fridge wasn't working properly, a plastic shelf was broken and the ice box was literally a box of ice.

Ice cubes in a defrosted ice box and a butter knife would have been handy. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable stay.

The check-in staff member was excellent, pleasant and very accommodating. She was a local who had a good knowledge of the area. The lift was a good option for us older folks loaded with luggage. The location and rooms sizes were also good. Spa bath in one of the rooms enjoyed by grandson. Three supermarkets, McDonalds, beach and main street all in walking distance. Our room was very quiet at the back of the hotel. Parking was good too.

The rooms weren't serviced and there were no cleaning facilities provided so unable to clean dishes, rubbish bins not emptied etc. No microwave so unable to heat food in rooms. Having to leave dirty towels in corridor when the weekend manager brought us fresh towels.

The staff were very friendly and the reception staff very informative. The location very close to city center, very walkable to a number of different restaurants. The breakfast was at the hotel's restaurant, which included a buffet of the usual cereals, fresh fruits, tea, coffee, breads, etc and a cooked choice from the restaurant menu. The AC in the room was pretty good and reasonably quiet when running at night. The hot water was really good in the shower.

The lack of car parking - you had to arrive back to the car park area early if you wanted a park close to the reception area, if the car park was full, you had the option to park across the road at a local business car park.
