The friendly welcome to the cosy room. This hotel is beautifully appointed with its gorgeous furnishings and interesting art on the walls. The bed was comfortable and the room was very quiet. Great restaurants and cafes close by. We appreciated the free parking.

We decided to change to a larger room as two of us in the initial room was very cramped, for one person it would be fine. We liked the immediate response to do all they could to accommodate this change , and the price was negotiated to a very reasonable level. The new room was very comfortable and made the stay in NP very pleasant for us.

The kettle and drinks area above the fridge was dark in both rooms , a small light above this area would be very useful and also provide good lighting ambience for the room.

Location is perfect and the building is very cool.

A beautifully appointed boutique hotel. We had a lovely comfortable stay here. Best bed on our trip. Excellent.

I loved how clean and tidy the property was and I loved the interesting art and furnishings that were displayed

My partner loved this hotel. He slept like an absolute log. The set up is really great. You can tell that the owners put a lot of effort into making it stand out with their unique, fun style. Hard to explain but we had a lot of fun looking at the art on the walls. There is a cozy public living room where you can hang out. All the amenities looked to be really new, there was a great 'things near here' flyer done in the shape of a newspaper and we took a recommendation to visit the local park which was spot on. Parking was just around the corner. It is first come first serve but we had no trouble getting a spot. Very close to lots of eateries as well so you have options!

Lovely place to lay your head. Travelling for work and nice and central, had dinner downstairs. Highly recommend, easy to find, access and a great night's sleep. Even saw beautiful Mount Taranaki in the morning blanketed in a white korowai.

There is nothing bad myself or my partner can say about the state hotel, the host AJ is nothing short of polite, friendly and makes checking in a seamless process, I feel so at home whenever I stay here, the location is perfect, right in the city, close to the beach and attractions but also surprisingly quiet for the location, I have stayed here before and the rooms are immaculately clean, tidy and comfortable! I will always choose to stay at the state hotel when I travel to New Plymouth as I like to see it as my home away from home.

I travel often, and this place genuinely surprised me—in the best way. From the effortless check-in to the striking antler chandelier and thoughtful décor, combined with a great location and a well-appointed room, everything was spot on.

This hotel is well appointed and the room amenities were top notch. We found the staff friendly and professional from first contact. We were very pleased to stay here and it was comfortable. The free parking was also appreciated. The residents' lounge was a nice and comfy addition.

The only criticism we have was the small bathroom had a glass door. Although opaque it did not conceal user and was off putting. this is the only critique we have. The rest of the property was excellent.

The staff were excellent and AJ went out of his way to make sure everything was ok for our stay. The hotel is in the middle of the city which was very convenient- we walked to a different restaurant every night.

Comfortable and clean with easy parking.

Really cosy and comfortable room and the house keeping was top notch. The location is great for access to everything you could need, and having access to the gym round the corner was great.

The bathroom was a little small, however it was still a good size in relation to the room.

The guest lounge is a great area to work in. Our room was spotlessly clean, and the owners and staff are extremely helpful. A short walk from restaurants, bars and other attractions.

Warm welcome from AJ, showed us our room. Nice big size, comfy bed. Cupboard with safe. Tea, coffee facilities. Little mini bar fridge. In the corridor there was a water cooler. Great shower. The only tiny issue was that there was only one hook for a towel and no towel rail. Another hook would have been perfect. Liked the complimentary body wash, shampoo etc, smelt lovely. Laundry facilities were available. There was a guest lounge also to use. Car parking a very short distance away. Loved the position of the hotel, easy to walk to bars and restaurants. Also close to cycle hire, called cycle inn. Great for going along the sea front. Meet other staff during our stay, all very nice. All in all we had a great stay.

Das Hotel ist sehr elegant, originell und geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sehr gut gelegen. Es gibt im Hotel eine kostenlose Laundry und auch das Parking ist kostenlos.

Gefallen hat uns alles. Einzig die Grösse des Bads und vor allem des Waschbeckens hat uns etwas gestört.
