The location is worst and you have to walk at lest 15 min to reach at hotel …!
Location and room size
The only thing good was that it was right on the river.
But the poky rooms with small windows hardly made up for that, nor did the poky balconies which barely fitted two plastic chairs. Many balconies were also at an angle to the river view. And the 10 min walk from the main road (it is down narrow pedestrian gullies) were just filthy with dog-shit & cow-dung! The water supply was silty- probably pumped straight up from the filthy river! And the electricity unreliable!
Fantastic location, great people, most friendly.
Ganga View is amazing from Window..! You can access Ghat by walk.
Walk around 400mtr from Dirty Narrow lanes to reach Hotel. There is no access from Car or Rickshaw.
The view
Proximity to the Ghats.

Ganges views from the comfort of bed was mesmerizing, Hotel staff was very cordial. The only problem was approach roads were very congested,
Guidance by hotel staff how to reach property
The location could not be better, right on the banks of the river, on one of the largest historical ghats of the old city. I particularly loved the view from the window / balcony of my excellent room, and the visiting monkeys that showed up regularly three times a day on my balcony for bananas and conversation.
The rooftop restaurant needs to be much better managed. Not much that was on the menu was actually available, and the quality of meals offered was very inconsistent. The information given by staff is also not accurate. I was told firmly that the restaurant did not open until 10 AM for breakfast, yet when I went to the roof to take photos of the river, I encountered people fully engaged in having their breakfast at 8:30 AM. This situation is not very encouraging if you have to get to the airport for a mid-morning flight.
My room 406 with Balcony facing river Ganges and morning sun rise. Friendly Management and staff who promptly attended all issues for customer satisfaction. To be precise, people and customer friendly services.
1) Along with room and bathroom, balcony needs to be cleaned everyday. 2) Pillow cases and Towels need to be spotless white. Unfortunately they were over used and not suitable for use. 3) Bath room should have "anti-skid mat". 4) commode in the bathroom was highly stained. 5) Pillow cases, towels and commode should be immediately replaced,
Super emplacement ! Personnel Top !

They send one boy to receive us and take our luggage from the road
Our experience was very bad about restaurant service and food quality at Sita. We ordered tea and fritters in the evening and waited for about 45 minutes but tea did not come. When we again called at the restaurant, concerned person told 'idhar time lagta he' ( it takes time here), if you want you can cancel the order. We were getting late, we asked him to keep our order on hold and give us tea when we would return back and they give us the same stale tea and fritters when we came back. It was very bad. We had opted for breakfast at the time of online booking. We experienced the same thing at breakfast too. The concerned person at restaurant was very slow . He gave us two butter toast with tea first and stopped. We were waiting for parantha. After 20-25 minutes he gave us one aloo parantha each to me and my wife and then again stopped. When we asked for one more parantha, he said you will have to again wait for 25 minutes for your second parantha. It was very strange. There was no other guest at the restaurant at that time. Only me and my wife were there in the restaurant for breakfast. We were getting late so we had to left half empty stomach. The restaurant staff head was very bad. He had no manners to talk with guests. No hospitality no etiquettes.
Just one thing that they send their boy to receive us from the road as the hotel is very inside from the road and the streets are very small.
The restaurant staff was very bad. The food is very bad. The person at restaurant had no manners to talk with guests. No hospitality. No cleanliness. The restaurant service is very very slow. Don't have your sugar medicine until they serve you food.

I booked a room for four days with a view of the Ganges and got a room with a balcony overlooking the Ganges, something I'd never dreamed of. The entire hotel staff was very helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend it. This is my second stay in Varanasi. If I ever return, I'll definitely stay at the Sita.
there could be access to YouTube or more English-language channels.
As travelling alone as a lady hotel sita is the best and safe place to stay as I feel very safe and comfortable to stay here .As people of hotel sita are really friendly and helpful .Mr vishu who is really very supportive and is very informative about kashi he has lot and lot of knowledge about varanasi .I would definitely recommend everyone who are travelling to varanasi and want to fell varanasi as real banarasi should come and stay with sita family and fell the vibe of kashi . Will recommend everyone to come and stay Best ,👍👍👍👍👍👍
Manager Pandey Ji tried his best to keep us happy. Best is location right on Bank of Ganga maa. Other small things can be ignored.
Check in took long. Walk to hotel is long. vehicles can't enter 500-700 mtr from hotel.

Facilities, infrastructure
Varanasi trip was wonderful. Evening Pooja at Ghats were mesmerizing. Ganga ji bath was refreshing. Enjoyed showing as well as local food. Location of hotel was on the Bank of Ganges
Mto gentis. Nos ajudaram em tudo. Limpeza nota 10.
Emplacement exceptionnel, personnel serviable
Not that good in terms services.. and not clean at all...people are not well spoken .. also mis information given about the hotel.. there are other far better hotels available at the same price
The location as mentioned online.. is partially true, as the cafe is not a part of the hotel.. so the guest cannot use the rooftop balcony after 11pm.. which is not mentioned to us earlier. Online it says free parking.. but as the hotel is new the ghat, you cannot take your car there. Its walking distance of almost 1km through narrow roads, harldy 2 bikes can pass. The restaurant owner is rude and doesn't know how to talk to customers. Room is too expensive for its price.. washroom is not great. So if you plan to book the hotel only for view, please don't.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Location is right on the Ganges river.
Cleanliness is bad and shower is not running good. We had to change our room for that and insects bit me when I woke up. Just the same with our new room but a little bit better.
Best place to stay in varanasi near ghat and in the center of the city would recommend anyone travelling varanasi should visit here and also they have a wounderful cafe looking ganga with amazing food
We had the a la carte option and the food was ok. The location is fabulous
The location is inaccessible by car and only cycle rickshaws reach a place from where they escort us through a maze of narrow alleys. to the hotel. It is very difficult to find way alone. Once we reach the hotel, it is OK. Another disadvantage is the very big steps leading down to the river. I must thank the hotel for running after me to give me the forgotten wallet on checking out.

Sanjay was such a great guide. So knowledgeable! He took us to see all cultural sites in varanasi old town and pointed out points of interest. He recommended us on local food, drinks, history, way of life in India. He explained this very clearly and didn’t feel rushed. We had private tour just us a couples very good English and didn’t expect us to buy anything along the way! We ended the trip with delicious food on the roof top of the Ganges view cafe. Had nice chai and biryani.
Very well located property. The stay experience was also great . A big thank you to the management team.
dispite bad reviews in bookin and others we had an excellent stay - the rooftop is perfect for watching Ganges rooms are ok - not perfectly clean but very good for Varanasi. They have a ver@ friendly experienced guide - Sanjay Nepali who helps in every situation
Great location!1 Very helpful staffs!!
In my three nights stay, TV did not work at all. Hotel was blaming the service provider but the bottomline is that we felt cheated. This is SIMPLY NOT DONE!!
Right on Chausatthi ghat. You can take a dip in the river Ganges and walk up to the hotel. You get amazing views of the ghat from most of the rooms and terrace.
Many things 1. Access via ghat is easy, but a long walk from nearest accessible road, which is challenging if you have luggage and kids 2. Rooms are small with barely enough space to walk around. 3. Rooms aren’t clean either including washrooms. Ours had a bathtub that was clogged 4. 0 amenities 5. Very less staff, even during peak dev deepawali period 6. Extreeeeeeemely slow service both at restaurant and any room service request you might have. 7. Price on booking.com offered was 2.5x of what they were offering to walk-ins. So felt completely duped. 8. Not at all worth the price
The hotel location is wonderful with beautiful sights to the ghats.
It’s a very old hotel that lacks proper maintenance. The rooms are dusty and not clean, and at times there’s no running water. I even had to move to another hotel (and, of course, they didn’t refund my money). There are also insects in the rooms. Definitely not recommended.
I stayed at Hotel Sita Palace in Varanasi for four days, and to say it was excellent would be an understatement. Every staff member was extremely polite, courteous, and well-mannered. Whatever I requested was promptly arranged. In fact, when the geyser in my brother’s room was not working properly, they immediately shifted him to an even better room at the same rate. The rooftop restaurant is simply unparalleled. You can enjoy your breakfast, lunch, or dinner while admiring the serene beauty of the Ganga River. Just step down from the hotel, and you reach the Ganga Ghat, from where you can take a boat ride to enjoy the enchanting view of the river and the evening Aarti. The hotel has an automatic lift, so there’s absolutely no difficulty in moving up and down. The quality of food is also excellent. If I ever visit Banaras again, I will definitely stay at Hotel Sita Palace once more. And for Bengali visitors, there’s an added advantage — the hotel has Bengali staff members like Sourav Chakraborty and Bishu, who speak and understand Bengali very well. Overall, I would rate this hotel five out of five.
There is nothing to like I have checked out one day before🙏😪
Worst experience.. Leakage in Entire bathroom No water in any of the tap in the morning for 4 hours... Cleaneess is pathetic Aproach to the hotel is horrible.. Waste of 18000 😪🙏
**Hotel Sita, Varanasi – A Truly Spiritual and Safe Experience** I recently stayed at **Hotel Sita** in Varanasi, and it was a memorable experience that captured the true essence of the holy city. **Safety & Accessibility:** The hotel felt **very safe and secure**, which was comforting, especially for travelers new to Varanasi. The location was excellent, offering easy access to the ghats and major spiritual landmarks. **Staff & Hospitality:** The **staff were outstanding**—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They went above and beyond to make the stay pleasant and stress-free. Their hospitality added a personal touch to the whole experience. **Spiritual & Cultural Experience:** What stood out the most was the **serene and spiritual atmosphere**. Staying at Hotel Sita felt like an authentic Varanasi experience—peaceful mornings by the river and an overall sense of connection to the city’s heritage. **Hygiene:** One area for improvement would be **hygiene**, which I’d rate at **3/5 stars**. While the rooms were generally clean, a bit more attention to cleanliness in the bathrooms and common areas would elevate the overall stay. **Overall:** Hotel Sita offers a **safe, welcoming, and spiritually enriching stay** that truly reflects the soul of Varanasi. With improved hygiene, it could easily be a top-tier choice for travelers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5 overall – highly recommended for its authenticity and hospitality!)
Amazing Location (facing Ganga River and near Dasashwamedh Ghat) Amazing Service Amazing Food But the way to this hotel is seriously let down. You have to pass through lot of Gali and these passages are really horrible and it stinks too. Vehicles cant reach this hotel. You have to walk 400 mtrs from the main road to Hotel Sita in these unhygienic passage roads. I felt sorry to write this review and give them 4/5. The management is really good and helpful, they took us to Kashi vishwanath Temple, they even sent a porter to pick our luggage from the main road to the hotel and back to the main road when we were leaving. Even the hotel cant do anything about this. Feeback: The Maharaja Room looks outdated. Pandey ji please renovate it soon. Its a very nice room but needs immediate changes.
This is one of the best properties if you want to stay at the ghats. But you have to adjust to the size of the room, cleanliness and amenities. It is not comparable to a 3/4 star property but pretty decent.
View is good, but ……
Pillows , blankets and mattresses is very very bad. Jet is not available Bathroom fittings are very bad condition Wooden Floor condition is worst, doors are corroded. Towels are very bad
It was amazing staying at Sita As it is close to ganga ji and all the rooms of hotel Sita have front river view as we’ll as situated in the center u can explore whole varanasi easily .they too have a saree shop which is know as Saawariya sarees where they have wide variety of Banarasi sarees .the property owner Mr Saurabh sharma is really humble and he love to share knowledge abt varanasi if some one visiting varanasi do come and stay at this place and try to meet mr sharma too about gud knowledge.
Great location, really helpful staff and comfortable stay.
Old fixtures and fittings, with loose wiring made me feel a little cautious at times. Hotel in need of a re vamp.
Best place to stay near ghat .Hotel is located at Chausatti ghat .they have all rooms river facing and the rooms are also good with all major facilities .Mr Saurabh Sharma owner of the property is really a great host and will try to get accurate information about varanasi (Kashi ) and also the staff of the hotel is well mannered and always eagerly to help you .i would definitely ask everyone coming varanasi should stay here to fell the real vibe of Kashi Will visit soon
Located On the Banks of Varanasi. The view from the room is beautiful. Rooms are clean with room & bath amenities. Lift is available for top floor movement. Pandeyji was soft and helpful. The hotel is quiet old and appox a km away from Kashi Vishwanath temple. Small and peaceful hotel. You can take a dip in holy Ganga at anytime of the day just by walking down a few steps from hotel. Boats on rent available on banks, which take you out on 65 ghats journey. Pooja can be attended on Dashwanegh ghat nearby just at walking distance or even from rooftop restaurant. For 80 ghat pooja, it requires a boat travel as it is around 2 kms. Rooftop restaurant gives a beautiful view of ghats. Food is good. Taxi charges for railway station just 5-6 kms away was Rs. 800 which is humongous and owner should definitely make a note of. This was a surprise factor for us. Otherwise everything was great.
**"Avoid This Hotel at All Costs"** The access road to the hotel is incredibly unpleasant and challenging to navigate, setting a negative tone right from the start. Unfortunately, the Maharaja room I booked fell far short of my expectations. The presence of numerous mosquitoes and tiny insects and lizards made it uncomfortable. Breakfast was a significant letdown—not just below standard, but genuinely disappointing. While dinner was passable, it was clear that the hotel was severely understaffed, which affected the overall experience. Due to unhygienic food, I suffered severe diarrhoea and fever. The sole redeeming feature was the river-facing room, which provided a lovely view. However, this minor positive does not outweigh the issues I encountered. At check-out, the behaviour of the reception staff was rude, and I was disturbed to overhear derogatory comments about the Gujarati community. In light of all these factors, I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. Seek alternatives that truly value their guests.“T
This was my second visit to Varanasi, and I had a very comfortable stay at Sita Hotel. In a city full of stairs, having an elevator was such a relief! The air conditioning worked perfectly, keeping the room cool and pleasant. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. I truly appreciated their hospitality and would love to stay here again on my next visit!
Fantastic location just next to the historical part. Staff is very helpful and kind.
Room was small and very old. Comparing the price vs Indian standard this was not great value. You pay for the location not the room quality
Rooms are good and view is excellent and their hotel food is also good. The hotel staff is being good with us and their behaviour is also good. One of the hotel staff also helped us to give puja and various other locations.the view from the hotel room is great .
Only the location.
Hotel is extremely dirty. Even the dustbin is broken in the room. Bulbs are fused. Extremely poor condition of every item in the room. Restaurant does not have even basic courtesy to glass with bottle of water with dinner. Complete waste of money
Best location on the ghats. We had a great balcony overlooking the Ganges with fantastic views up and down the ghats. Excellent rooftop restaurant with very reasonable prices.
Totally Amazing as always wonderfull staff with amazing service with wonderful view of maa ganga Best stay at hotel sita if anybody travelling varanasi they also have a roof top restaurant with amazing food with amazing view of maa ganga ...
Greta location if you are coming for kashi temple or see the aartii on the ghat Ghat - 4 mins walk - can be seen from the terrace (atkest the crowd) Kashi - 12 mins walk gate no 4
The terrace restaurant should be linked with the hotel However good and servuce is very good
By coincidence we passed by Hotel Sita on the way to the ghats. The owner's son (Saurabh) was around and handed over a business card with fixed rates on the back. I had to smile and told him that he will never be able to increase prices if he keeps on handing out these. To my surprise he agreed! ;-) We returned a week later and Saurabh remembered our previous chat. With incredible hospitality he gave us a room with a view over Ganga river in the 3rd floor for a fantastic rate as he understood that due to our long travel period we were on a budget. The room was basic with a ceiling fan, Tv, cabinet, shelf, soap / shampoo, toilet paper, white sheets and towels. There is an elevator for heavy luggage. The location of Sita Hotel is right in line with the ghats. Reachable through a quiet pedestrian zone (8 mins walk). Contact them before to send a luggage boy for a few rupees if you can't carry your suitcase from the mainroad to the hotel. From here you can explore all major ghats and take a boat to the other side. A few Sadhus are located very close on the riverside. They have a rooftop with a picturesque view over the area and they even arranged a bday cake for us! It has been a great experience staying there and we enjoyed the company, flexibility and friendliness. Thx for the stay
Location was awesome. Food was good.
That you had to lug your suitcase a good 12 mins to get to the hotel.
service was poor not professional
alternative accommodation
Location is great. Right on the ghat. Few minutes walk to Vishwanath temple express corridor. The room had a view of the ghat. The hotel manager arranged for our bags to be taken to a place where we could get an auto and he also arranged for a taxi. Very helpful, kind and honest people.
Can't think of any such thing as what was not good.
Only positive is its location on the Ganga and access to ghats
Staff members looked at us with suspicion. The room was very basic with low quality furniture. AC remote worked intermittently. For the price I paid, it felt like a ripoff. I don’t mind the hotel staff trying to take you to nearby shops and boat rides and they get commission on that, but unfortunately they would fight over who contacted you first. Also note you will have to walk 10-12mins from main road to reach the hotel as the alleys are too narrow for rickshaw.
Not approachable
Staffs we're very helpfuul
Nothing
It was one of the worst stay of my life. Too dirty room, 🤧 including bathroom. I booked a different room at the time of booking and given smthing very bad at arrival 🙃
Only the location was good.
The entire fact that they showed a different type of room category ok booking.com and when we checked in the staff gave us different category of rooms. On top of this the staff was arguing with us that it is booking.com who is not allowing them to upload photos of different category of rooms and hence they are helpless which we find completely absurd. Linens were dirty and bathrooms were rok messy. The one which we stayed at the bathroom door was all rusted, the toilet seat cover came out .
Just the fact that it is right on the ghat.
Everything about the property sucks. The AC had Lizards coming out of it. The toilet seats were stained. The linen was dirty. We had to change 3 rooms to finally get a liveable room.
View from Hotel roof top restaurant is Good And is mid of all Ghats and can view most of the ghats from the roof top
Only best thing about this property is the location
The hotel manager couldn't door enough for me to ensure I had a great stay. Room were adequate with a great balcony over looking the Ganges, could've not got a better location. Roof top restaurant, have excellent views which spanned on for miles. Good choice of breakfast both Indian and European. Sanjay the tour guide showed me all around on a walking tour and I felt completely safe. He introduced me to the delicious Baba lassi, which is a must when visiting He also organised a boat trip for me and my return transportation to the airport. You couldn't asked for a better guide.thank you. Vishnal, helped me source a sari as I attended the owners son's wedding. He ensured it was within my budget and that it looked perfect. In summary, amazing location, clean bedding, comfortable beds, good food, great shower but above all else the staff were amazing and went above and beyond. I now have some new friends.
Due to location being right on the Ganges, the last two kilometres have to be walked. Not a problem but maybe a member of hotel staff could meet the guest at a set location and guide them to the hotel.

Areas to consider
Cleanliness
3/10Multiple reviews cite stained pillowcases, towels and a highly stained commode; balcony and bathroom cleaning reported as inconsistent or not done daily — significant cleanliness concerns.
Service
8/10Staff and management frequently described as cordial, friendly and prompt in attending issues (front-desk/management praised). Some service problems noted specifically in restaurant staff behavior and inaccurate information, but overall front-of-house service is a clear strength.
Location
9.6/10Repeatedly praised: riverfront position on the Ganges, balcony/window views, immediate access to famous ghats and sunrise views from rooms — outstanding location.
Room Quality
7.5/10Rooms with balconies and strong views, functioning AC and hot water; however issues with linens and bathroom cleanliness (stained items) reduce the room comfort score.
Amenities
6/10Basic in-room amenities (AC, hot water) work well, rooftop restaurant/terrace is a feature, but lacks a dryer and some safety/comfort items (anti-skid mat) — mixed amenities.
Value for Money
5/10Location is unique and valued by guests, but several reviewers note the hotel is relatively expensive for India, lowering perceived value.
Food and Beverage
3.5/10Multiple complaints about the rooftop restaurant: poor management, many menu items unavailable, inconsistent/poor food quality, slow service and rude restaurant staff — notable weakness.
Overall Experience
7/10Mixed overall: many guests loved the location, views and front-of-house staff, but recurring issues with cleanliness and food/service at the restaurant tempered stays.
