Food was amazing and rooms were spacious
Property is a little dated and tired looking. Also the onsen options could have a better rotation system for men and women by different days and not times of day. Property is also located a bit further away than initially thought and trains do not come that frequently
Breakfast was lovely and hotel grounds are beautiful. Futon beds on tatami mats were comfortable. The onsen experience was enjoyable and my favorite part of the stay.
As a family of 4, we were cramped in the apartment room; I thought we would have a little more space. The facility was located in a beautiful setting but is in need of upgrade. For example, hallway carpets are really worn and there was dry rot wood in the hot tubs. Non-operational kid area should be removed from the lobby as it gives the appearance of clutter.
Very large and comfortable room with a big deck and nice views of the mountains. . We enjoyed having so much space in our room! Very nice onsen! Lovely dinner and breakfast. Nice property. Easy walk to the train station. Great base to explore Nikko and nearby hiking trails. Friendly staff. Would recommend if you are considering a visit to Nikko, only a short and scenic train ride the next valley over (you can use your World Heritage Pass to ride the train with no extra charge)
To nie jest hotel. To jest doświadczenie które zostanie ze mną do końca życia. Wszystko tam jest dziełem sztuki. Pokój, lobby, onseny, jedzenie, sposób ceremonii.
Spacious room with twin beds and nice view. Dinner was delicious. Staff are friendly and could speak mandarin.
The shower heads of the public bath shall be replaced, old and stained.

Everything about our stay was exceptional. Our room was very spacious and the kaiseki (breakfast and dinner) were delicious. Hotel staff was amazing and very attentive to all our needs. Will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.
My husband and I came to Japan for our honeymoon, we stayed at Kinugawa for just one night. The staff was very friendly upon check in, they scheduled us for a private onsen that night, and they left a very sweet letter and gift in our room. The hotel itself is beautiful, the private onsens are so relaxing and complete with an outdoor area to cool off. The rooms had plenty of room and a beautiful view of the outdoor garden and mountains. They also had a room available with a delicious selection of Japanese whiskey along with snacks and ice cream to enjoy before and after the private onsen which was absolutely wonderful. Thank you very much for the experience to all the staff at Kinugawa Grand Hotel, it will be a memory my husband and I shall cherish forever!
Everything was excellent.
Relaxing space and an oasis of tranquility between big cities. We loved the whole japanese exprience, with traditional room, traditional food and private onsen. We recharged totally!
Very nice Ryokan and spacious for triple sharing and best cuisines we had

員工服務非常好,房間也很大,早餐也非常的豐富,拜訪的時期剛好是櫻花季,還有免費專車接送去看夜櫻,是個非常棒的體驗。
お食事がとても美味しいかったです
Everything!! Everything about this place screams excellence, cleanliness, politeness, polished. The staff at the front desk to the dinning area was nothing short of pure excellence!! Property is beautiful, the rooms excellent, food was the highlight for us, we had never had a full fledged Japanese dinner or breakfast and it was a culinary experience that the staff patiently advised us on on the norms etc. apart from all these were the beautiful onsen. If in Nikko again, this will be the only place I will be staying!
Nothing. My family and I Loved every single aspect of the hotel.
The room was very large and we liked the choice of either bed or futon to use. The onsen both private and public were very well maintained and clean, amazing and comfortable. The little souvenir shop was also a nice addition for last minute browsing . The dinner and breakfast selection and spread was also wonderful and very satisfying. Simply beautiful facilities
The breakfast was excellent
Private Onsen
This 5 stars hotel had everything we needed. The warm and professional reception, the comfort of the rooms, the private open air bath and the large public onsen, and the amazing breakfast and dinner. We hotel location also very close to the Kinugawa Onsen station. Only 8 minutes walk. Japanese style breakfast and dinner were awesome and nice.

清潔、親切、食事、温泉 👌👌👌
ジャグジーが壊れている所もある。露天風呂のお湯がぬるま湯な所がある。
EVERYTHING!!!! The hotel is stunning! The service was wonderful. The food was amazing (we eat Kosher and no raw fish) and we booked it 2 months in advance after another ryokan couldn't prepare food for us even tho they said they could, and immidiately I;ve got a reply to my request with questions and a will to accomodate us and we really apriciate it. The onsen was a dream (especcially the outdoor one). Our friend had to live after one night in instead of 2 and the person who did our check in was nice and suggested to give her some refund wvwn tho it was same day notice. Will definitly come back again if we have the chance and will recommed it to everyone weknow :)
We had to pay for our friends food cost which is not cheap. Of course it is only fair she had to pay since she didn't give notice in advance but she should have paid from the beginnig. It wasn't a nice suprise to discover when we had to pay when we checked out.
This was a special getaway part of our trip. We knew it would cost more, however, we thought for the experience, it was worth it. It didn't let us down. We enjoyed the full Japanese dinner and breakfast. The onsen was lovely. I don't think there were any other Westerner's there at the time, the staff tried hard to communicate with us and make us feel welcome. The gardens that you could see from the lounge area were beautiful. It is worth getting there by the earliest check in time to enjoy the atmosphere and environment.
The dinner and breakfast kaiseki was exceptional The room was comfortable, onsen was relaxing Free shuttle bus from and to Kinugawa-onsen station Overall staff were very friendly
On arrival staff did not explain about wearing yakata
Location, beautiful gardens. Great Japanese cuisine and culture
Wearing traditional Japanese clothing supplied by hotel to dinner was a nice touch.
很喜欢
good
Wonderful service and the hotel was in an amazing private setting. Breakfast and dinner were the best we had in Japan during our vacation.
Half board meals were fantastic. Room was comfortable and staffs were super friendly and helpfulness.
Very small bathroom in the room
The staff, the accommodation, the services, great food and private onsen
I think the facility is starting to show signs of getting older
Exceptional staff, all of them were highly attentive and kind. Outstanding Japanese dinner and breakfast. Our room was Japanese style, and it was gorgeous. Best hotel experience we had in Japan. 10 out of 10, would go back if visiting the area again.
It’s a pity that tattoos are still a bit of a taboo in onsens, as many Westerners (and other cultures) have them.
Nil
Very confortable hotel - 25 mn from Nikko shrines but well worth the distance. Food is very good. Great onsen. Staff was very nice, despite not so good english.
Beautiful hotel, we stayed in the japanese room and it was fantastic! also the private onsen was really nice for the kids. The public onsen was big and beautiful. recommended
the japanese dinner and breakfast it is really big, so be prepared!
I have left my selfie stick at hotel.they have help me found it.Thanks for their helping
Great location only a 10 minute walk from the station so was easy to access. Nice hot spring baths, enjoyed it very much. Breakfast was delicious.
Overall property is a bit old, but it is pretty common with onsen hotels in Japan so gives it its own special vibe.
Big room but old. Good breakfast and good dinner. Nice view from breakfast room.
Old room and old Onsen. Onsen room is not clean.
The food (dinner and breakfast) were of highest quality Japanese fair and truly exceeded our expectations. The meals were served by very attentive staff and were a very pleasant experience. The big baths were good but the water temperature was slightly on the low side. Outdoor baths were good.
In our room the living space and the bedroom were separated and the sofas in the living area were not terribly comfortable nor were they conveniently positioned.
Its oke
Time for checkin and check out
Kaiseki dinner was good and delicious , typical Japanese traditional dinner. Onsen facilities very spacious and clean.
Front desk staffs Can’t speak English.
The room was spacious and clean and the futon was very comfortable to sleep on. Quite a couple of different onsen that you can try and both public and private were clean and well-equipped with skincare and amenities. (Private onsen were not free to book, they were 3300-4000 yen per 50 mins.) We had a good variety of food for breakfast and dinner, both of which were delicious and looked amazing. Staff were very helpful and always tried their best to assist us even though they spoke limited English. There is free parking available onsite if you drive.
The interior was a little dated so could do with a refresher and the hotel is a bit isolated so might be hard to get to without a car.
Ryokan room was massive and very clean. The onsens were very nice and had indoor and outdoor options.
It’s a bit isolated. So there are not many options for food unless you eat at the hotel. We stopped and picked up take away in Nikko.
The staff are very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is quite clean and the rooms are both nice and nicely spaced.
Nothing
Our traditional room overlooking the garden was absolutely beautiful. The onsen was fantastic! Very clean and as westerners we felt very comfortable using it. The staff coming in to lay out the futons each evening while we were at dinner and then rolling them away each morning while we were at breakfast was a treat. The driver being available to pick us up from and drop us to the train was a great advantage.
There was a very strong smell coming from the mat flooring in our room which we had not experienced when staying in other ryokans. The carpet in the hallway near our room was soggy from a leaking air conditioner. We had to walk past the smoking room and the smell wafting out each time was unpleasant. The air con in our room was very noisy. Luckily the weather was cool and we could turn it off to sleep. When we booked the only option we had was the package with the traditional room including dinner and breakfast. The meals were laid out beautifully, presented like a work of art but unfortunately there was no alternative food if some of the traditional food was not to our liking.
Excellent staff, beautiful food, garden and Onsen. Room very comfortable
Onsen included in fee or private onsens in rooms
Very expensive for what it was
Very tasty. Immaculate presentation
Very nice onsen with bonsei garden, good kaiseki dinner
Far and isolated location. You need a car to be mobile
Inside looked nice even though it was very dated. The staff are the best part of the property.
Everything is closed till around 4pm so if you stay more than one night you have nothing to do. The property description says they have more than one restaurant but this is untrue and my family felt misled as they only offer 1 type of dinning even though they advertise 3 restaurants with different cuisine.
Excellent Onsen resort. All the staffs are very nice and professional. Me and my family had a wonderful time. Highly recommended. The Food excellent. I've been to many onsen resort in Japan, the food offer in this resort is the best.
Onsen is clean with natural spacious, clean, well equipped, spacious, comfortable bed and room, excellent traditional kaiseki breakfast and dinner are excellent and delicious, the hospitality of all staff was excellent.
very pretty location and lovely restaurant. it could probably use an upgrade across the board for a higher rating. seemed a little dated. pool was nice but limited and not that large. it was more like a convention hotel than a luxury resort. but staff were so nice and helpful
it needs an upgrade. wet floor in the hallway, frayed carpets- and it seemed empty
big sand cleans room. good big onsen. full meal bf and dinner with nice Japanese set. helpful staff with weak English skill but excellent t service.
The hotel is clean, the staff are polite and always trying their best to meet our requests, the onsen is clean and spacious, and the changing room is equipped with hair serum, face cream, toner and hair dryer.
Nothing
The nature and the comfort of onsen.
It was a bit troublesome to get to from Tokyo.
The baths in this hotel are big! I thoroughly enjoyed using the onsens here - it is truly an onsen hotel. The hotel staff are friendly, but most of them do not speak English, so there is a slight communication barrier. Kinugawa is a very small town, walking distance to everywhere - the hotel is about 10 mins walk to the best soba restaurant, and about 20 mins super slow walk to the suspension bridge.
You will have to use the Google Translate app quite a bit, for communication in Japanese. Unfortunately, because of the language barrier, they were not able to explain our kaiseki meals properly and we were left on our own to figure out what was each item.
food was great
over pricing with the old facilities.
onsen, breakfast and kaiseiki dinner is superb, staff also very helpful and polite
none
Expensive and petty . Charhe a little items . No proper place to hang towels and clothes nor to put baggage except on the floor. Not user friendlly .
Fabulous dinner n breakfast !! The hotel staff are all very friendly n helpful. This is our second time staying in this hotel. Will definitely be back again..
The hotel has very beautiful garden, room is big and clean. Staff are very helpful. It has private onsen with reasonable price. Perfect!
