Adelphi Motel

Very disappointing. This hotel is used as a WYNNs hotel we have found out since and at the time we were staying there we could not park our car outside due to visitors cars. police were called to a unit opposite ours due to family issues. windows were broken and a lot of noise. Felt unsafe for my family. The staff tried their best but honestly this should not be an accommodation attached to Hotel.com

The room smelt really bad of cigarette smoke, the sheets stunk of cigarette smoke, there was holes in the door, it looked like it had been punched. The whole place felt dirty. Paint was flaking off the ceiling in the bathroom. 1 heater didn't work at all, the other looked unsafe to use. 1/2 a roll of toilet paper for 4 people to use. The property appeared to also be used as WINZ housing (this should have been disclosed). Trying to use the driveway was a nightmare as it was blocked by multiple cars. Would never stay here again and would not recommend others stay

The rooms were clean and beds made nice and fresh and the staff were welcoming. However, the rooms weren’t ready when we arrived at 3pm. We had to ask for tea & coffee, towels (twice), a heater, pillowcase etc. There was a hole, the size of a fist, in one of the doors. The parking was a shambles- no order, driveway was blocked several times. The decor is very outdated and is in major need of an update. Heads up, this motel is a Winz Emergency Accommodation so there were a lot of people in this reasonably small property and it was noisey at times.

Awful, tried to put me into smaller unit than what had been booked. Unit had non working lights , heaters did not work, No tea or coffee sachets or milk supplied, No soap in fitted dispensers, Old toilet roll had been wet and dried out. Other units had been let out to long term tenants who argued and used foul language. Rubbish and alcohol cans strewn around parking area and not cleaned up at any time. Unable to contact office to have anything put right and at checkout manager then decided he did not speak English. Credit card fees deducted on arrival not at finish. Do NOT stay here

The beds smell of smoke and our room had been changed from what arevasked for, we had to share a bed, there was no tv remote so can't watch the tv. There was only cutlery for two people even though it was a 3 bed unit whick we had 4 in, only two chairs and no tsble.

The bed sheets have not changed and found many hair in side the sheets. We asked a staff give us 3 clean bed sheets and we changed them by ourselves.

Adelphi Cancelled our room and we couldn't find any other accommodation

We had previously stayed in this motel few years back and was happy with it, however the owners seem to have changed and when we got there they got our booking dates wrong and said they didn't have a room for us. There was also another family trying to check in and their booking was "cancelled". It was a busy weekend in taupo and we had nowhere else to go as all hotels in taupo, turangi and rotorua were fully booked! definitely not impressed. I suspect the owners resold the rooms for a higher price given demand is high. will never ever book there again, it was really stressful ringing around to find emergency accomodation at the start of a holiday!

This was our third stay at this property and both times previously have been very good, hence us rebooking. This stay, however, was very disappointing. We booked a 1 Queen Bed, Balcony with lake views room (which we have stayed in previously) & on arrival we were told that room was booked & we were put in a room with no balcony or lake view. When we questioned this we were told we must have got confused with a sister property closer to the lake! We had to ask for towels, a power board, a rubbish bin & had to finish making up our bed with blankets. The kitchen crockery & cutlery were grubby (we washed everything before using it) & the microwave was a complete no go!! When we came to clean up before we left we found tissues under the bed (yuck) and no sink plug in the kitchen. We hardly saw the “manager” & the neighbouring units were noisy (loud boom box speakers). Such a shame. We won’t be staying again!

We have stayed here before, but this time we noticed a drop in standard of cleanliness. The kitchen floor was very sticky like it hadn’t been washed and there was a bottle lid and a dead cockroach behind the curtain.

I thought the property represented value for money . For a team away from home it was very satisfactory . Just a little bit random that we actually had to ask for milk ,and they had to go to the supermarket to buy it .

Friendly people and we had a lovely stay. No one was there when we checked out and there was no Drop box for the keys. I felt a little uncomfortable leaving the keys on the table.

We were very happy with our Lake View Room. Large/spacious lounge/bed area plus our own balcony. Basic shower, vanity and kitchenette but perfectly functional, very clean and well equipped. Handy to town yet quiet and only one or two blocks back from the Lake so walking around was easy. Great value. Nice man who has recently taken the property over.

It was clean and basic. No air conditioning on a really hot evening made it difficult to sleep, but otherwise good

I have stayed at this property 4 time before this visit. I believe this property has recently changed hands, My room lived up to expectations. However the reception staff insisted I pay cash instead of using my credit card. Reception said their credit card processing wasn't working. I wasn't happy with this. I left my credit card details and the accommodation cost was put through on Monday 10th. My thought is that their system was available and they just wanted my cash. I will look elsewhere in Taupo for accommodation in the future despite Adelphi being so handy to town.

As indicated on you website that l can pay at the accommodation and was charged to the card was annoying and immature.

I was concerned that dogs were staying at the motel,as the weather was very hot and they were kept inside.There was only fans to cool the units.Also the microwave door was cracked on the outside and should have been replaced.

Such a great motel. Rooms were spacious. The beds were really comfortable to sleep in. Would recommend this to all families. Five minute walk to the shops and lake.

We had a Lake View unit which was the only upper level unit. Yes we could see the lake. Very spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable unit. New floor coverings and furnishings. Kitchen and bathroom had not been updated like other rooms we could see, however it was older, but still good. Older taps were so clean and polished you could see your face in them. We even saw the cleaner cleaning windows on one of the units! Nice built in desk with convenient power points for laptop and phone. Table in kitchen, lounge and coffee table in lounge area along with comfortable bed. Lots of TV channels to see. We walked into town just a couple of blocks away where there were lots of eating choices. Good value for money and we would stay again.

Close to amenities. Clean. Pet friendly. Quietly located away from main stream.

This motel is badly overdue a maintenance overhaul. Wallpaper has come away from the walls in the bathroom and just been painted over. Lino in the bathroom area has very unpleasant staining. The majority of fixtures and fittings are old and seem to be upgraded only at end of life, so are pretty hotchpotch. The curtains are tired and there are no sheer curtains for during the day. The lighting is harsh, the sofabed has a bad slope on it and the main bed is unforgiving. There are insufficient electric plugs, leaving cords draping from the TV to a power board on the floor below. It was of acceptable cleanliness, with commercial linens, etc, but it wouldn't take a lot of effort to make it fresher and more pleasant.

Really n8ce people and nice place to love. Recommended and next time I will book the same motel

Spacious and very clean. Kitchen was very well stocked with clean items (eg. frypan, plates, glasses, cups etc). Good location, close to town.

The beds very comfy, Shower was ok, when hot water came through and added cold it was still not great as only just had to turn cold tap on, too have good pressure shower was cold.

The studio unit is clean, bed is very comfortable and we had everything we needed for the night, the receptionist /property manager was very friendly and pleasant, no negative comments

Fourth time at Adelphi, good service and clean as always but needs some basic maintenance on the room. Starting to show wear and condition.

The property is very old, It is clean and tidy and in a quiet location.

Massive room with queen bed, sofa, coffee table, desk, lounge chair and closet. Also had a kitchenette, with plenty of cooking and eating items, and bathroom. Able to park right in front of room, and was only a few streets away from the centre of Taupo.

This was ideal for our purpose. Good to have a 2 bedroom unit. Clean and warm. Owners very accommodating of late arrival I would recommend as a good place to stay

The location was excellent, walking distance to the centre of town.

The 1 bedroom units are very spacious and clean - the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable - you could walk into Taupo so it was very convenient

We stayed here again this year as we loved it so much - the hosts couldn't do enough for us - we stayed in a 2 bedroom unit and it was very spacious and clean and central to Taupo - thanks for such an enjoyable stay

My husband was competing in the Swim the Lake at Taupo so the positioning of the motel was perfect.An added bonus was that we could take our little dog with us as the motel was pet friendly,but, A little surprised to be charged $30 for taking the pet. I didn't see anything on the website about a charge.

A pleasant enough stay but needs some updating. Eg shower and lighting. Convenient to the town.

This is an older motel but it is kept up so well the price is very reasonable. The receptionist could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Very satisfied. (We were two couples sharing a cabin) Walking distance to food grit and waterfrt

A little dated but we knew we were choosing a cheaper option as Taupo is very expensive in peak times.

Spacious rooms and good kitchen facilities. Clean & tidy

Convenient to central shops and the lake. We weren't able to lock the door from the inside, so had to sleep with the door unlocked.

Easy to walk to places - close to the beach, close to town, 10 minutes to the supermarket

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Location convenient to town centre. Room booked was very big. Although slightly older units they have been refitted and were neat and tidy. Very pleased with our stay.

I loved this place, big and spacious for our family and a great location, walking distance to Lake Taupo and a little further to shops. Staff were lovely too!

Needed a place to stay to attend a course. I have stayed there before and was glad to get a room there again. Clean, quiet, good facilities and good location. Only issue was the in-room WiFi was a bit spotty. Will definitely stay there again

A surprisingly beautiful view from the second floor room. I was assigned the “Room with a View!” What a lark! Also, the motel is an easy walk into the CBD and the lakefront.

We have stayed here several times before and have previously found it fine for our needs. However, this time it was apparent that no maintenance has been done. The board below the shower was rotten and there were several areas of peeling paint. The smoke alarms were flashing - suggesting they are running low on battery. Little things need attention - no bathmat, 1 facecloth for 4 people and no spare pillows for the sofa bed. The room STUNK of fish when we arrived... although fixed by reception when we asked them to, this should have been attended to before our arrival. In addition, money was taken from my account before we had even arrived, let alone checked in. I found this incredibly cheeky, as I do not always use the card that is my default for booking. Fair enough if we were a no show, but the motel helped itself mid to late morning. This has never happened to me before and I would hope it would not happen again! It is a shame, as in all other aspects Adelphi is perfect for our needs, but I don't know that we will be back.

Stayed overnight on my trip to Rotorua, the staff were friendly and obliging, and the room was clean and comfortable.

Location is great, near to lake and town. Room is clean and tidy. However, toilet and bath should split up for convenience. Parking very limited.

Got to Adelphi in the evening of what was a cold night and the room heater had been turned on. Was awesome to step into a nice warm room.

No electric blanket on the queen bed - brrrrrr! It was a very cold night. Other than that, met our needs as a late night-early morning stopover.

The room was very clean and tidy and we arrived after 7pm and the heater was put on for us which was a lovely touch 😀

It was a nice little place to stay in. The room was maintained very well throughout our 4 night stay. It was close to everything we wanted & from the balcony we could see the lake.

The motel was fine, clean and comfortable, The most important thing to me when I chose a motel was that it had free WIFI for my laptop as I had important bussiness to do, the wifi here was terrible, basically unusable, dropping in and out every few seconds, I asked at reception and was told it was sparks fault and everyone in Taupo was having problems, seems a bit lame as my telecom (spark) phone on which I had limited credit was working fine on the internet. I will not be staying again as good wifi is important to me.

On arrival was advised that room had been charged to my credit card. As there were three of us paying equally it was diasappointing it had already been charged. Nice rooms with plenty of space and a nice bathroom and seperate toilet. Walking distance to town. Would certainly stay again.

Thoroughly enjoyed Taupo. Friendly and easy to get around
