Universal Hotel Castell Royal

It was a perfect location. The hotel was lovely and the food was great.

I didn't like the fact that you had to book sunbeds and pay for the privilege. Most were empty all day meaning that people could just come at the end of the day if at all and they couldn't be used by anyone else.

From the moment we walked into reception to the moment we went to the restaurant and bar we were greeted with happy friendly welcoming staff. They wanted us both to have a great holiday and they achieved that. Everything was perfectly clean and tidy. A big special thank you goes to Ricardo the life guard who made our trips to the pool such fun with loads of laughter. To Loida and everyone behind the bar who looked after us so well. The food was amazing for the whole stay. Emanuel the chef had such a huge smile and so welcoming every morning for breakfast. Our stay was so good we have already booked whilst at the hotel for next year. Thank you all so much.

The food was way too good and we both have at least 2kgs to drop after a 10 day stay. 😄

- Le calme qui règne autour de l'hôtel (les activités, la piscine etc sont fermés dès 21h). - Les buffets sont des bonne qualité, et diversifiés. - L'air conditionné est calme. - kid friendly, ce qui est agréable - chambre propres et agréables, vu à couper le souffle au 8eme étage. - les serviettes de plage incluses dans le all-inclusive - la plage est au pied de l'hôtel, aucune rue à traverser - des fontaines à eau à chaque étage - les employés de la restauration sont adorables (hormis le gérant)

- En arrivant, nous savions que l'hôtel était une énorme chaîne, mais là, vous avez un paysage magnifique, de belles falaises et cette barre immense qui gâche tout (les hôtels aux alentours ne dépassent pas les 3 étages et celui ci fait 9 étages). Les lumières des balcons ne s'éteignent que tard dans la nuit, impossible de les éteindre nous même. - Les deux ascenseurs sont petits et clairement insuffisants, nous attendions parfois plusieurs minutes. - Le gérant de la restauration etait désagréable, certaines de ses prises de paroles, notamment envers ses employés, nous ont mis mal à l'aise. - La piscine est petite (les photos sont trompeuses), il n'y a qu'une seule douche extérieur. - Les transat de la piscine sont payant même en All-Inclusive - il faut compter 2h30 en transport en commun à partir de l'aéroport

Great Location for a Beautiful Cove Beach, but the Hotel Itself Was Just Okay ⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stayed at Grupotel Cala Marçal Nature Hotel for just one night. Overall, it was okay, but I probably wouldn’t choose to stay at the hotel again. For us, the real highlight was definitely the location and the absolutely beautiful beach nearby. The beach is only about a one-minute walk across the road, and it’s a gorgeous little cove with beautifully clear, calm water. It felt much quieter and more relaxed than a large, busy beach, and we spent the entire day there from sunrise to sunset. Two sunbeds and an umbrella cost us just €17 for the whole day, which we thought was very reasonable. There are also plenty of places nearby to buy drinks, water and snacks. We particularly loved the organic restaurant just up the steps to the right of the beach. As a plant-based family, we found the menu there much more appealing, with plenty of fresh, organic, plant-based options, so we chose to eat there rather than at the hotel. The location in general is excellent, with other bars, restaurants and shops nearby. I also loved that the hotel is surrounded by a nature reserve, with lots of trees and greenery giving the area a lovely, rustic feel. We were on the seventh/top floor and had a really lovely view over the nature reserve. The bed was reasonably comfortable, although the room was quite basic. One thing that surprised us was the lack of toiletries — there wasn’t even shower gel provided, just hand soap. We didn’t use the hotel swimming pool or restaurants, so I can’t comment on those facilities. We really used the hotel as somewhere to sleep while spending our time enjoying the surrounding area. For a short stay where your priority is location and access to a beautiful, peaceful cove beach, it does the job very well. For us, though, the beach and surrounding area were definitely the stars of the stay rather than the hotel itsel:::

The biggest issue for us was transport. This isn’t really the hotel’s fault, but if you don’t have a hire car, getting a taxi for a short local journey is practically impossible. We wanted to visit friends in nearby Cala d’Or and it became quite stressful trying to find a taxi, as most drivers seemed to prefer longer, more expensive journeys such as airport transfers. A huge thank you, however, to the lovely young lady with dark hair on reception whose name I unfortunately can’t remember - Raysee maybe?. She was absolutely amazing! She phoned so many taxi companies and simply wouldn’t give up until she eventually found someone from another area willing to come and collect us. Without her, we wouldn’t have made it to see our friends. She was a credit to the hotel. The other downside was the air conditioning. Our room took a very long time to cool down when we arrived, and the corridors and communal areas on the accommodation floors were extremely hot, with seemingly no air conditioning. There were also very limited toiletries in the bathroom just hand soap and no shower gel, which was surprising. We didn’t use the hotel pool or restaurants, so can’t comment on those. We chose the beautiful cove beach nearby instead and ate at the lovely organic restaurant overlooking the beach, which had much more choice for us as a plant-based family. Overall, nothing disastrous, but I would strongly recommend hiring a car if you want to explore beyond the immediate area, even somewhere relatively close by.

El desayuno fue muy bueno y completo, la habitación con vista al mar hermosa.

Que no tenga estacionamiento. Y que te cobren la toalla para la playa/pileta.

Wunderbare Lage,ruhig. Schöne Bucht,Wasser klar,Sandstrand. Hotelanlage sehr gepflegt, Personal freundlich,Zimmer geräumig und sehr sauber.Kühlschrank vorhanden. Bequeme Betten.Grosszügiger Balkon,fantastische Aussicht. Frühstücksbuffet sehr reichhaltig und gut. Schönes Foyer mit bequemen Sesseln. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gleich beim Hotel.Vom Garten des Hotels kann man direkt an den Strand.

Mit der Poolbar waren wir nicht zufrieden- Glaceangebot gemäss der Karte war nicht vorhanden. Cocktails werden lieblos zubereitet,ohne die kleinste Deko.

The hotel is in a quieter area of the island which we were very happy with. It had one beach that locals nearby would visit or would service 2 hotels so it was quieter than the main beaches in places like Cala Millor. It was very clean, and the breakfast had a lot of choice. We were given a welcome drink on arrival and a clear description of the hotel and its facilities. The pool is a great temperature with floats and lilos available to use and the beach has 2 bars on the front where you can get great food. For a more vibrant area, Cala Ratjada is just 10-15 minutes drive away - another scenic beauty spot with plenty of restaraunt choices and bars.

I was surprised the sun loungers at the pool were chargeable being as they belonged to the hotel. You can be reserve specific ones for the day but they're numbered on a laminated sheet at reception at not at the actual pool.

La habitación con vistas panorámicas al mar, personal muy agradable y limpiadora en concreto con nombre Alejandra impecable como deja la habitación.

Poca variedad en las comidas, aunque en general está buena, pocas zonas de ocio, no hay gimnasio aunque pone que sí lo hay, la piscina se hace pequeña para un hotel de 4 estrellas. Muy pocas actuaciones de entretenimiento.

Die Hellhltigkrit des Speisesaal. Es war gerade beim Abendessen. furchtbar laut, sodass man sich mit dem Gegenüber am Tisch nicht unterhalten konnte. Eine Schalldämmung, wie auch immer, könnte zu einer Lärmminderung beitragen.

The view from the balcony is beautiful! The rooms are clean and tidy. The food has a lot of options, but I think it could be even better with more vegetarian options. They have good amenities like a swimming pool and cafes with great cocktails.The staff was friendly and kind and we would love to visit this place back.

It would have been nice to have some coffee pods available, especially since they only had two on the first day and we had to buy them ourselves if we wanted more. The entertainment could also use a bit of an upgrade, as some of it wasn't quite up to par.

The only issue was finding a parking spot near the hotel

Nach jedem Besuch im Restaurant hat man extrem nach Bratfett gerochen. Publikum war gewöhnungsbedürftig (Achselshirt und kurze Hose zum Abendessen schien normal). Kein Lächeln der Angestellten. Rezeption hat auch nur ihren administrativen Job erledigt. Kein warmes Willkommen. Eher Abfertigung. Pool und gesamte Anlage in die Jahre gekommen und lieblos. Grau in grau. Alte Ausstattung. Zimmer war eine Zumutung. Für das Kind wurde ein drittes Bett in ein eh schon enges Doppelzimmer gestellt. Damit es passt hat man die Nachttische beiseite (unter den „Schreibtisch“ Geschoben und das Doppelbett so nah wie möglich an den Schrank. Konnte sich gerade noch zwischen Schrank und Bett stellen. Sehr enttäuscht und zum Glück nur 2 Nächte.

La ubicación es excelente para quienes buscan desconexión y con la playa justo en frente. Las vistas de la habitación fantásticas. Todo muy limpio, personal muy agradable y comida buena.

Todo muy bien, teniendo en cuenta que todavía no era plena temporada, pero indicar que estando a tope solamente había 2 ascensores, que puede ser un poco justo para dar servicio en plena ocupación.

Vor allem die Mitarbeiter. Von der ersten Begrüßung bis zur Verabschiedung beim Checkout wurde uns eine fantastische Freundlichkeit zuteil. Das Buffet, sowohl bei Frühstück als auch beim Abendessen, war umwerfend. Wer hier meckert, dass es nicht genügend Auswahl gibt, muss einen persönlichen Koch zuhause haben. Das ein oder andere mag sich wiederholen, was auch verständlich sein sollte. Aber es gab Dornhai, Räucherlachs, live gegrillten Thunfisch und Schweinefilet usw. Morgens Omelett, Rühreier, Spiegeleier, gekochte Eier um nur bei den Eiern zu bleiben. Das Buffet dürfte um die 20 Meter lang sein und voll mit allem. Wirklich toll. Die gesamte Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und sauber. Es ist ein älteres Gebäude, was aber sehr gut saniert und modernisiert wurde. Etwas hellhörig sind die Zimmer, aber das war ok, da die Gäste im großen und ganzen eher ruhig waren. Die Zimmer sind groß genug und haben alles was man braucht. Das WLAN war auch zufrieden stellend. Wir konnten problemlos darüber Netflix streamen. Wenn wir wieder nach Mallorca reisen, werde wir bedenkenlos erneut hier buchen.

Die Betten waren nicht so toll. Und die Kopfkissen sind wirklich unbequem. Aber das sind subjektive Empfindungen.

Barpersonal hat sich über mich vor mir beschwert ohne zu wissen, dass ich Spanisch fließend rede, hätte nicht sein müssen. Ich habe ihnen auf Spanisch geantwortet, danach waren sie freundlich.

Zimmer wurde 1x nicht gemacht und frische Handtücher fehlten. Pool war meiste Zeit nicht nutzbar.

Die Raucher auf den Nachbarbalkonen, deren „Abgase“ in unser Zimmer zogen (und das Spätabends und Frühmorgens). Aber dafür kann eigentlich das Hotel nichts.

A simpatia dos funcionários e o cuidado que tinham com os hóspedes. Prepararam-me uma surpresa de aniversário no quarto, foi muito querido da parte deles.

A pressão do chuveiro estava desajustada e magoava um pouco a tomar banho. Das duas vezes que expus a situação, enviaram logo um técnico muito atencioso para resolver. O problema é que passado pouco tempo voltava a ficar desconfortável. De resto, tudo impecável.

Herrlicher Ausblick über den ruhigen Balkon (Glas). Leider nicht grundsätzlich rauchfrei. Wir hatten aber Glück mit den Nachbarn. Auch ist im April noch weniger los. Direkt am Strand mit Strandbar. Frühstück und Abendessen mit sehr guter Qualität. Der Ort ist ruhig, einige Hotels im Bau, einige Restaurants, kleine Einkaufspassage hinter dem Hotel. Freundlichkeit, Essen, Ruhe und gute Luft. Erholsam. Die Tropfsteinhöhle von Arta ist (auch) zu Fuß erreichbar, Eintritt 17,- sollte man gesehen haben.

Es kann anscheinend auch am Pool, Bar und Balkon geraucht werden. Zimmer war rauchfrei. Wir waren nur 3 Tage im April und konnten gut ausweichen. Das kann im Sommer die gute Luft für Nichtraucher sehr verschlechtern, oder den Pool und die Bar zur No-Go-Area machen. Viele Bars und Restaurants (auch Außenbereiche) sparen sich die Aschenbecherreinigung. Das ist gut da sie auch mal als Nichtraucher einen Platz im Biergarten finden.

Insonorisation catastrophique, point noir du séjour malheureusement ! Impossible de dormir le matin, réveillés par le service ménage qu'on croyait presque être dans la pièce et qui cognait partout. Et en conséquence... réveillés également par les galipettes des voisins...

Ein top Hotel mit hervorragender Lage und sehr freundlichem Personal. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut und man kann dabei auch den Blick auf das Meer genießen. Auch die Anbindung mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln ist hervorragend. Alles in allem ein schöner Ort. Das nächste Mal werde ich hier sehr gerne privat etwas Zeit verbringen.

Manche Stühle im Poolbereich waren durch Vogelkot verunreinigt.

Bardzo dobre wyżywienie HP: duży wybór, dobra jakość. W łazience mydła, szampon i balsam do ciała bardzo dobrej jakości (produkty lokalne). Na korytarzu urządzenie do dystrybucji wody do picia - też schłodzonej (w pokoju karafka i szklanki) - świetny pomysł. Sympatyczna obsługa; czysto. Świetne położenie - bardzo spokojna okolica; możliwość organizowania pieszych wycieczek (też do bardzo interesujących jaskiń) bezpośrednio sprzed hotelu. Blisko hotelu niewielka laguna, z której ptactwo (m. in. gęś, kilka gatunków kaczek) spaceruje po chodnikach i jezdni. Miejsca parkingowe przy ulicach w pobliżu, w odległości do kilkuset metrów od hotelu (druga połowa kwietnia).

Trochę mało urządzeń do dystrybucji napojów na śniadaniu i zbyt skupione - utrudniony dostęp.

L’hotel ne nous convenait pas . Première l’emplacement . Ville fantômes , plus personne dehors à partir de 21 h , pratiquement tout de fermer et les seuls restaurants ouvert il faut y chuchoter . Interdiction à la musique etc . Nous nous sommes directement senti mal à la l’aise . L’hôtel une façade plate côté rue et tout les balcons de l’autre côté . Une fois rentré nous avions l’impression de faire tache . Pas d’ambiance , Acceuil peu agréable du personnel . La chambre , on y entendais tout , les balcons donnent les uns sur les autres . La baignoire , il n’y avait pas de bouchon donc pas de bain possible . Nous devions y passer 3 nuits mais nous n’y avons dormi qu’une seule et somme parti dès le lendemain matin , nous s’entend vraiment mal sur place . Travaux directement à droite de l’hôtel des le matin et le climat 3/4 degrés de moin que le reste de l’île . Voiture obligatoire si vous souhaitez bouger dans les allants tours . Nous avons été très déçu et l’hôtel ne correspondait pas à nos attentes

Chambre familiale vraiment petite.

Le buffet petit déjeuner et diner propose une nourriture variée et bonne. Le personnel est très agréable. La vue côté mer est superbe.

Vue fabuleuse et literie confortable. Les balcons permettent de profiter du paysage en toute intimité. La propreté est impeccable, les produits d'hygiène de bonne qualité, le personnel adorable. L'hôtel est très tranquille.

Les repas sont basiques en demi pension, mais si le choix est restreint, les desserts sont bons ce qui n'est pas commun dans ces hôtels. Globalement on peut trouver des plats à son goût.

Nice clean hotel, friendly staff, beautiful view, area is very quiet.

We went half board, so breakfast and dinner only included. Dotted around the hotel was free filtered water machines, so you could fill up your own bottles. But you weren't then allowed to take these into the dinner hall with you, and you had to pay for a bottle of their filtered water which they provide free around the hotel at €3.40, and it wasn't enough to even fill 2 glasses. That annoyed me. In other hotels I have been to, we would be given free water at dinner. Yes, the view is beautiful, right on the beach. Amazing.. but on the other hand, it is tucked away from everything, there are a few little shops, and some restaurants and that is it.. there is nothing to do in the evenings. When we went. 8th-15 April, I appreciate it is out of season, so they only had entertainment on a few of the nights, but other than that, it was so quiet. There is a bus stop, just over the bridge from the hotel, and you can hop on a 17min bus ride to the nearest town Cala Ratjada which has a great long walk along the coast, lots of bars and restaurants around the harbour. We also rented a car for 2 days from the hotel reception which was reasonable, and we explored the island for 2 days. Highly recommend the area Soller, if I was to visit again, I would stay in that area. All in all, a nice week holiday, nice hotel, walls of the rooms are a bit thin and you can hear the other guest coughing etc. Rooms are on the smaller size, but fine as you only sleep in them. Beds are comfy. Food was ok, felt the drinks were on the pricier side. Very quiet location, beautiful view, bus close by if you want to get out for the day. Its easy to hop on and off, just gap your bank card or phone. If you want just a week in the sun, laying on a Sun lounger or on the beach (€20 for a sun lounger on the beach!) and do nothing for a week, very quiet. Not many English people, this in mainly a German and Dutch area also. Then this is your hotel and location.

Top Lage direkt am Sandstrand mit BLick aufs Meer. Frühstück und Abendessen waren großartig mit sehr viel Auswahl und Live-Koch.

Nice view, a quiet place

L’emplacement, la gentillesse du personnel, la qualité de la restauration d’un niveau supérieur par rapport à d’autres demi-pension des baléares et la chambre avec vue sur la Méditerranée. Literie très confortable et la présence d’un vrai balcon est un plus. Pas de parking à l’hôtel mais à cette période aucune difficulté pour se garer dans les rues adjacentes. Nous avons apprécié le calme des lieux situés à un peu plus d’une heure de voiture de Palma.

L’hôtel Castell royal est magnifiquement bien situé au bord de la plage. Nous étions au 8e étage et profitions d’une vue exceptionnelle depuis notre balcon. Le personnel était très agréable, les petits déjeuners exceptionnels... l’endroit est loin du bruit de Palma et l’hôtel très calme, c’est exactement ce que nous recherchions. Nous reviendrons sans hésiter!
