It was clean, suited our needs and good location

Arrived to check in. Place is run down and dirty. There were rats running around the rear courtyard. Given a slip of paper with phone numbers on to contact them if needed. Having text the mobile number with a query I had a reply back from the former manager. The text raised huge concerns far greater than the rats running around. Having travelled as 2 solo women staying in separate rooms, one of us having to use a bathroom on the landing, I was not happy to stay. There’s a review stating the police had arrested the owner in the early hours in August. (Please go look for it) The owner lives downstairs alone. The booking and slip of paper given alludes to the place being run by a couple “Lyndon and Lucy”, Lucy however is his daughter that doesn’t even live there or work there or even live nearby. The place was dirty, dated and extremely run down. Very expensive for what it is. But above all that, the risks staying were not something I was prepared to do. We needed up at the Premier Inn for the 2 nights that we had planned. Safer, cleaner and much better facilities.

Area was not nice. Room was not very clean . Private bathroom was separate from the room (also not very clean). Facilities very tired and well past needing a renovation. Expensive for what you get and what is in offer within Barry.

The room was very cramped. Slanting roof in family room. Everyone banged heads a few times. Attention to deal was poor. Found sweet wrappers under single bed side table. Dust behind main bed. Fan extremely dirty. Light on ceiling was missing a few bulbs.

room was spacious, comfortable beds, wifi was great, breakfast was perfect, full english, choice of cereal, fresh fruit, toast, fruit juice. Lyndon was really pleasent and easy to talk too. Excellent Stay, Hope to see you again.

The room was spotless and clean and comfortable. The breakfast was nice. The staff member was very friendly and overall it was a great place to stay. The guest house is also a short walk to the beach.

The place was filthy and no breakfast.the police came in the morning to say the owner had been arrested we had to stay somewhere else. Will be taking legal advice for a full refund and not just a refund for the missed breakfast

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We arrived earlier than expected and were kindly allowed into our room as it was already ready, which was a great start to our visit. I also accidentally left my watch behind, and the owner was incredibly helpful in arranging for it to be posted back to me. The breakfast was excellent, with a delicious full English, as well as cereal and toast. The breakfast host was warm and welcoming, and the service was quick and efficient. The location was perfect – just a short walk from the beach. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would happily stay here again.

Nothing to dislike

Perfectly decent guest house, unassuming on the outside but clean, safe and nice bedroom and a lovely brekkie in the morning. Location was great to Barry Island beach area and free parking nearby. Lovely staff.

Breakfast was excellent a good location for The sea front 10 minute walk.

The front of the property is tired that was all.

It was very spacious andnsuper comfy beds. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and theor was a good selection to choose from.

The bathroom lock on the door was not working and the shower wasnt very powerful.

The lack of care given had to asks for clean towels bin to be emptied no coffee milk or teabags just two teabags on the Friday then none and we left on Monday

Room 3 was fab , modern updated simple room nice to have a fridge this time around really handy with the child and snacks , thank you

The Chef and the beds were brilliant

The bump your head room, sloping ceilings were dangerous, no one to greet us, rooms not serviced, faults not answered on the phone in fact phone never answered, electrics dangerous above shower.

Lyndon and Connor the 2 staff were absolutely lovely, really helpful

Room was comfortable and nice breakfast. Location was convenient for exploring local area and close enough to town centre for bars and restaurants.

The private bathroom wasn't ensuite, it was round the corner from our room. Just a bit inconvenient if you needed bathroom during the night.

Location - short walk into Barry Island and beach. Breakfast was nice and better than we envisaged based on the breakfast room. Lyndon was friendly and helpful. Think cheap and cheerful. Really comfortable bed and appreciated the fan in the room with the extremely hot weather.

Parking was on street round the side/back and some dodgy characters hanging about that worried us. Bathroom was quite dirty and paper shower mat was awful.

Cleanliness. The floor in the bathroom of bedroom 2 was dirty on arrival, also the cups in the room had a sticky feel to the outside like they had been cleaned properly for a while. Also the impression from outside doesn't fit with the price.

The room looked unclear there was dust everywhere there was wee in the toilet when we got into the room. We had a unpleasant night the bed was too short. The breakfast was disgusting and cold. It wasn't worth the money I paid.

The host, Lydon was welcoming. The chef, Connor was welcoming and so pleasant to speak to. The room was lovely and comfortable. I had the best nights sleep. Great location.

Felt safe & secure with the whole guest house. Breakfast was lovely & included both mornings we were there. Staff lovely. Generally nice & clean. Short easy walk to the seafront - perfect location, and shop next door.

Parking was a bit difficult with us having disabilities & would have been ideal parking outside rather than down the hill. Maybe guest permits would be a suggestion.

Room was nothing like the photo sadly, wardrobe falling apart, mountings of dust behind the bed, toilet and shower dirty. Side light didn't work on one side. On going into the property it smelt strongly of wet dog. When we first arrived outside of the property looks extremely dirty and run down, its in a very rough looking part of Barry. To be honest we wouldn't have stayed if we had other options. Breakfast room is not very clean, we didn't want to take advantage of any continental options as plates looked dirty and food inedible. Major improvements could be made to make the property a lovely place to stay, we strongly feel what we paid was well over what its worth, extremely disappointed.

Fantastic location and spotlessly clean. Everyone was welcoming and made us feel at home. The shower was great with ample hot water and breakfast was superb. Would stay here again

It was dirty - especially from the outside. Breakfast was inedible kitchen dirty. It’s more like a backpacker hostel and drunk aggressive guys woke everyone up at 2am yelling. And swearing for hours and staff did nothing. Do not stay here. I was also charged twice and now have to submit a dispute if they do t return the money in 14 days.

Great location and value for money for our short stay. Close to the beach area and easy to find free parking on road. Room clean and beds were comfortable. Host Lyndon is super friendly and really accommodating and could not do enough for us - gave us early check in as we arrived early. Plenty at breakfast time too. Nothing was too much. Perfect for our 1 night. Thank you

Our family room got a little hot in the night as a loft room but they do provide a fan in room.

Location perfect, comfortable beds and very clean. Very friendly and breakfast was fab. Very reasonable price too.

Was within walking distance of the beach and amusement park. The landlord was friendly and attentive. Good value for money

The location was magnificent, less than 8 minutes from the beautiful beach, the staff was pleasant, the breakfast was so yummy, freshly prepared, I will come back without hesitation.

The room was far too hot on arrival. But we were able to open a window and turn the radiator down.

Great location. Room was comfortable and clean. Lovely breakfast with everything you could wish for. Very friendly owner Lyndon, who cooked our breakfast to perfection in front of us.

The shower was good but shower head didn't stay in place properly.

Location was great to the water, hikes, and restaurants. Bus stop was very close. Owner was nice. We liked staying there and it was appropriately priced.

Very low lighting. Difficult to put on makeup. The beds not very comfortable. Some cleaning issues. We went to turn on a fan and dust blew all over. They said there was parking spaces, but street parking only--which was not difficult

Niets beviel. Het was totaal niet in overeenstemming met de beschrijving en onze verwachting. Onze eerste Booking-misser sinds 20 jaar. Na 15 minuten weer uitgecheckt en ons verlies genomen (125 euro voor 1 nacht).

Heet en muf (geen koeling; het was buiten warm). Viezige indruk. Het rook naar een rookkamer. Er was geen badkamer op onze kamer (en dat stond wel in de beschrijving…). Parkeren in de buurt was voor vergunninghouders. De buurt was niet aantrekkelijk te noemen. Over het ontbijt geen mening, want we zijn na 15 minuten gelijk vertrokken.

The bathroom door didn't lock or even close, so not ideal there. Head of the bed very close to a low overhang, watch your head!

Great location, handily situated for Barry and Barry Island. Very friendly owners. Great breakfast with both ContinentaL and Full English options. Room basic, but clean, with a very handy fridge. Huge TV set.

The outside of the property isn't necessarily the most welcoming and doesn't reflect the welcoming comfortable accommodation provided.

Had a great stay at Gail’s guest house, was a good location not too far from the beach near shops and the train station. Room was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good quality and well cooked and staff were friendly.

Good value stay, ideal for exploring. Great for exploring Barry Island and very friendly staff. Also nice breakfast.
